We scheduled an appointment quickly and they arrived a little earlier than expected. Three technicians completed the work. They first connected equipment to the outside dryer vent, where some lint came out, but not much. They then pulled the dryer away from the wall, removed the vent hose, and vacuumed the duct. There wasn't much lint inside either. After the cleaning, another technician came which I asked a couple questions. I mentioned that I was surprised there wasn't much lint, and he explained that my dryer vent is working properly because it vents directly outside instead of traveling a long distance through the walls. I also asked how often I should have it cleaned. Instead of trying to sell me unnecessary services, he told me it wasn't something I needed regularly. He recommended having it checked about every two years for peace of mind and safety. It's very rare someone (especially a business) is honest and I was grateful for his professional opinion. We've had a bit of a persistent rodent problem for years, and since we finally got around to cleaning and proofing the attic, we decided we really needed to do some proper cleaning elsewhere as well. Specifically, there's a vent cavity underneath our downstairs furnace that was a prime rodent gathering spot. Jorge got back to me fairly fast with a reasonable quote for cleaning both this cavity and my dryer vent. He also agreed to put some wire mesh along the walls if it was easily reachable for his team (which unfortunately it wasn't, but ah well; I understand, it's a small cavity). His team arrived exactly on time, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that, unlike previous folks we've had work on our house, they always remembered to put on shoe covers every time they entered without needing to be prompted, which is an extra plus. They were very neat and gracious and did a good job both cleaning out the vents and also cleaning up after themselves when they were done. (I also didn't even know where my dryer vented out until they came over and found it for me, so thanks for that!) It was also clear that they were doing their best with what they were able, and they spent a while brainstorming possible solutions to my mesh problem (since they weren't able to squeeze through the opening in order to place the mesh). It's unfortunate that nothing could really be done on that front, but not their fault since it really isn't a service they offer in the first place, so I'm just glad at their willingness to try and work something out regardless. All in all, it was great working with them, and in the future, if I ever need similar work done, I'll definitely look for AJ's Duct Services again. read more
