I called to inquire and was very skeptical,especially after reading some of the reviews about overcharging, etc. I was absolutely satisfied - they kept me posted when the technician would arrive. George,the technician ,was professional, took the time to assess the problem,and even though he felt that I may not have needed a drain to be snaked out to the street, he did so anyway. I was not overcharged, there was no heavy sales, and it was exactly what I had hoped for. Very satisfied.. I would give negative 5 stars if I could! Terrible company that should no longer be in business. It's been more than a year since they replaced my boiler and water heaters for $20k+, and they were supposed to install chimney liners as part of the job. I've been following up multiple times, and it hasn't been done. The install department is hard to reach (although likely just ignoring my calls). Beware and do NOT engage with this company! They'll take your money and won't finish the job. They also prey on unsuspecting people like you and me by quoting ridiculous amounts of money and then pretending like they're doing you a favor when they bring the price down a bit (it was overpriced to begin with). read more

I had a plumbing issue over the weekend--a clogged toilet that overflowed, and when I checked the basement, I found the main sewage line was completely backed up and water was not receding. I rented a 100-ft snake from Home Depot and snaked the entire length multiple times, but the clog remained. I saw AJ Perri was offering a special for $125 to clear drains and diagnose issues with a camera, so I scheduled an appointment. The first technician arrived two hours late, snaked the drain for about 10 minutes, and told me the pipe was likely broken since he couldn't clear the blockage. Keep in mind, I had already snaked 100 feet three times myself, and I'm not even a plumber. He then recommended a hydro jet service for $1,200 but noticed I was hesitant, so he suggested waiting for the camera inspection first. However, he didn't have a camera, so we had to wait for a second technician. Before leaving, he charged me, assuring that the fee included the camera inspection. The second technician arrived with the camera and invited me to watch. He inserted it about 10 feet in and quickly concluded the pipe was likely broken. He then used a device outside to supposedly detect where the snake was and marked that spot, claiming that's where the break was. However, the camera only showed murky water--nothing definitive. Also, if the pipe were actually broken, wouldn't the water slowly drain into the soil over time? His solution? Excavation and a pipe replacement--for $10,000 just for that broken segment alone. He indicated that there could potentially be other broken segments further down which would require further excavation and replacement, driving up the price. I marked the location myself and told him I'd handle the repair. He laughed and wished me "good luck." He also told me that the hydro jet was not an option since my pipes were allegedly too old and wouldn't be able to handle it. Perhaps these old wives tales would have worked on someone less savvy, but trying to bs a licensed general contractor is purely comical. These guys were more full of sh*t than the pipes they were hired to unclog. Long story short, the next day I rented a 150' segment snake from a commercial tool rental shop and cleared the clog myself for $150. Keep in mind the diameter of these segmented snakes are much wider than the standard snakes, which I believe made a huge difference. The pipe unclogged after about 50' in with this snake, but I kept going to force the clogged items into the main sewer. Also, keep in mind that you can rent this segment snake from Home Depot as well, but my local store had a stubborn guy who refused to allow me to rent the snake for fear that it would get stuck in the pipes. The house had 4' pipes and I was able to pull out the last 50' or so with ease manually. If you do decide to rent your own snake, make sure you watch a few YouTube videos to learn how to operate the machine. Lesson for those of you reading out there: Don't be fooled and be so quick to believe someone just because they say something is broken. read more

Their technician incorrectly told me I needed a new sump pump. He installs it and the water does not leave my basement. I am the one who figures out there no outlet for the pump while the "plumber" is there. I am charged $1000 for a sump pump I don't need and I'm eventually given a $400 credit. Today I had a bath tub faucet that kept dripping. I thought I would call them to install a new shower handle and use my $400 credit. Their plumber comes and quotes me $4000! To replace a bath tub faucet and handle! I was ready to get ripped off but for $4000 I could redo the entire bathroom. And they didn't even let me use my credit because the address is different even though I own both houses. Then I was charged $130 for them to give me this outrageous estimate! Never use this company, there are so many other plumbers who will treat you fairly and honestly. Look into it too, you will find many articles about how AJ Perri was fined for deceiving customers. We couldn't initially agree on pricing, but the sales rep later called--knowing I was out of town for work--and offered a better deal on a high-end AC unit with an air scrubber. He said he'd send the contract to my wife. I didn't have a chance to review it while traveling. When I returned, I found the installed unit was not what we discussed--and there was no air scrubber. Since my wife had signed the contract (with different terms), I let it go. Now, just two years later, the unit has already started leaking and stopped giving problems after only a year. my tech Bohdan Kovalchuk was very clean, and professional. He came and diagnosed my furnace which had a no start. Once the part was ordered he returned and installed the items. He explained some issues my system had and we had these addressed as well. I would recommend him to others needing service. Ask for him. Reaching a person at the phone number needs improvement. I also had issues with appointments . They'd call to re schedule when arrangements were made {leaving work early}to meet with them, and several calls were made to assure appointment would be honored. This is the result of an AJ Perry boiler installation. My system is still under warranty however these guys used their short run pipes that were made in China and they've completely rusted out and leaking now. I've called them three times to come back to replace them and am still waiting. Now the cold season is approaching...I'm not about to chase any one to give them my money!!! Tried to scam me. They refused to quote over the phone, came over for an inspection and quoted $450 for a simple flush fill valve change. They said they needed to take the toilet apart for it, which was not true. After I called this out, the plumber tried to lower the quote and said that that was the minimum he had to charge for a job or his boss wouldn't agree. I told them if I'm not going to hear back in 1 hour, i will post a review everywhere on internet, and will contact BBB and will take them to court. They scheduled an appointment for the same day 10am to 2pm. But they didn't it again, didn't come and didn't call me to tell me they will not come. After I called at 2 pm to find out if they are still coming. Customer service called quality control manager but forgot to put me on hold so i heard the whole conversation. The manager said all warranty work and since he didn't use them for yearly service work will be pushed back few weeks. I had HVAC COMPANY ELITE AIR. they went out of business and sold their customers to AJ PERRI. I never contracted with AJ PERRI yet they billed me for another years contract. called 4 times no one ever called me back. wrote email to customer service they never responded. finally called my credit card and reported FRAUD. still waiting for the $319.88 to be credited back to my AMEX account. When Elite sent my contract to AJ PERRI any issues were handled by AJ PERRI. So when I had problem with my AC I had to call AJ PERRI. Problem was supposed to be covered by my Service agreement from Elite yet they charged me over $600. Obviously not honoring my service contract. My furnace was failing to ignite the gas on 20-Jan-2025. I placed a service call (Invoice # 18909885) with AJ Perri. The technician told me several issues (which is very common practice with all service technicians in any field nowadays) and said that the flame sensor needed to be replaced. He quoted $451 for a flame sensor (which costs approx $20 in Home Depot). I knew he was trying to fleece me. The technician told me that I was better off replacing the entire HVAC unit rather than replace just the sensor. I declined and searched for my issue resolution on Youtube. The simple solution provided on Youtube by many HVAC experts was to wipe the flame sensor with a microfiber cloth. I did exactly as described in those videos and the furnace works fine. I do not recommend AJ Perri to anyone. The company has no regard for the hard earned money of the customers. There was a very simple fix for my furnace flame sensor not working properly and these guys were trying to sell me a whole new unit!!! read more

I rarely leave a bad review but this company had us go ten days... TEN DAYS.... With no heat or hot water bc a part we "needed" was on back order. In turn leaving us to spend additional money to get hotel rooms to shower. The communication was nonexistent. customer service reps were useless, lied, left me on hold while they "checked" for updates and Never came back and laughed while telling me the parts dept would call me back... the parts dept is never going to call, they don't make calls. I ended up speaking to two ppl from the quality assurance team who were nice but acted as if this was shocking news to them and clearly by these reviews it's not. well after a YEAR of replacing my heating unit for an arm and a leg, I got a few responses to the various agencies in which I submitted a complaint. Then like clockwork, and out of the blue, their "business relations Mgr"? from the Memphis TN HQ, left a voice mail with email followups. BTW, during that year, the MANY emails and voice messages I left to the CEO, mgrs and salesman at AJ Perri, not a single staff person replied! Anyway, I digress - she was trying to "right a wrong" (I assume) by NOT admitting guilt, yet defending their "prices" and offered me a "bone" ($550). Seriously?!? After back and forth negotiating via email - and my "threats" that I will follow up those agencies AND the journalist who wrote that article - we agreed on a refund that I suppose was the best I could get. When asked "what do YOU think you should have paid?"...I said other plumbers/HVAC guys in the area could have done the job for LESS than half ($8,000) and that my neighbor had the same unit installed by Kook + Sons (who BTW is the most costly outfit in our area) for around that price. I told her I would "throw HER a bone" and admitted that my situation was beyond "normal" - no heat, hot water, still with a damaged ceiling, and an emergency DURING Easter weekend - not to mention my NO-refund airfare to visit my family for the holiday - that I would have thought $10,000 was a reasonable compromise. Of course she seemed shocked at first, but my persistence paid off - I got a check for over $8,000! Of course this was followed by a letter I had to sign from their legal dept, stating that this "settlement" in no way "admits guilt" and that any future legal attempts would be rejected. LESSON LEARNED + ADVICE: do your homework, issue complaints to the proper NJ Boards, unions, etc, and Google to see if a company has had past grievances (esp legal action taken against them) and bookmark those URLs. DO NOT allowed these sleaze ball companies take advantage of you seniors, or ANY customer. Fight and persist for what you know is right and fair. Long story short: I do not recommend this company to anyone looking for good service and professionalism entering into your home. Installed a new unit with AJ Perri last year. Scheduled a normal annual maintenance check this year and received the worst unprofessional service I could have ever imagined from a Senior Service Tech by the name of Elvis. He entered our homes, made changes without our consent, and then got upset when we informed him that we did not approve work so please remove it. His unprofessionalism caused me having to come home to live open wires on the wall halting my mother-in-law from going up to the bathroom because it was interfering with the handrail she must use to go up the stairs. He slammed doors, did not wear protective gear in our home and yanked a thermostat unit out of our wall. The mess required us the need to contact another company to continue the work. I figured this was a bad employee and the company would not allow such behavior but several days passed after he illegally left live wires out like this, both my husband and I calling the company with complaints, and AJ Perri still didn't call us back or send a better tech to fix what Elvis broke. That alone shows they are big on false advertisement claiming they are "passionate about providing exceptional service." I wouldn't recommend AJ Perri even to my worse enemy. read more

Agree with all the 1 star reviews. Almost got scammed by them. My a/c was having issues not cooling and I had a appointment with them. They recommended me to replace the entire outdoor unit, because they mentioned it would not turn on reliably. And that new one will cost $4K. I told them I need to do more research and did not buy it even though they were trying to get me to buy a new ac even though my old ac was perfectly fine. I hired another repairman the same day and he was able to diagnose the problem and fix the problem(capacitor, apparently a very common problem) Bottom line, dont use these people read more

Had technician come in to check my central air unit at my condo. Machine did not make any cold air. The AJ Perri tech of New Jersey, took apart some stuff inside saying g he was checking things, then after putting it back together, said I needed a new unit cause it was too much of a big job to try to fix, since the condenser and Freon access of my magipak unit was all the way in the back. So I paid $137 for that time. He gave me an appointment with a sales person about getting an estimate for a new unit. The sale person was very professional, he spent two hours with me to help me try to get the best price possible, and finally gave me an estimate for $12000. The following Monday I found a local company that fixed my unit in a few hours, adding a sealer, Freon, cleaning the coil and rebottling the unit to the base. Now I am going to dispute my Amex charge from AJ Perri. Those technicians apparently are trained to sell you a new unit, and not really helping you to fix your machine. Again. My family and I bought a house in August 2023. When we moved in, the central air in the house was perfect downstairs but upstairs did not get any cold or hot air in two rooms. My family went to Home Depot to see if they could help us in this situation. We are first-time homeowners so we have no experience on how to deal with these types of problems. When my family went to Home Depot, they contracted AJ Perri to take care of us. AJ Perri sent an engineer and he stated that the temperature was different upstairs and downstairs because the unit was oversized and that the thermostat was turning off because downstairs was reaching the temperature that it was set at. The engineer stated that we needed a new unit that was smaller to accommodate the size of the house and a thermostat on each floor and he quoted us $11,500 for the new unit. We went along with it and the installation happened on September 19th, 2023. Once they finished the installation, we noticed there wasn't a thermostat upstairs. We asked the installation crew why they didn't put the thermostat upstairs and they responded that they had no idea about it and didn't receive any instructions for it. We gave it a day to see if the new unit fixed the issue and nothing changed. We called AJ Perri telling them the new unit doesn't work still. When the technician came, he said the unit was never the issue and that the ducts in the house were the issue. The installation department called us a few days later and they said the only solution was a ductless system upstairs in each room. At this point, we were a couple of months into this situation and we asked for a return of the old unit. We did not want the ductless unit in each room. On October 19th, 2023, they installed the three ductless units. To no one's surprise, this did not fix the situation. AJ Perri sent another technician again and this time he said that everything worked perfectly fine. They would start ignoring our calls. We contacted Home Depot once again to tell them that AJ Perri changed the units and that the air still doesn't work upstairs. We then received a call from Mr. Frank Carbo from the quality assurance department of AJ Perri. He has been in our house back and forth for about 6 months, closing vents and ruining the airflow in the house. After his visits, some areas around the house stopped getting air due to him closing vents. We go back to Home Depot and tell them we need a refund and our old unit back so we can contact another contractor. Home Depot then sent out Andrew Gamatko, the operations manager at AJ Perri. He told us that the unit they installed was never working and they would replace it and if it did not work, we would get a refund. He was so sure that he was going to fix the problem that he gave us his number and email if anything went wrong. After some time, the air stopped getting better and returned to the old ways so we called him. Mr. Gamatko gave us two options; to get a refund or to hire a contractor to change the duct layout in the house and they will take care of everything else. We kindly accepted the refund because we had been asking for it for months. Mr. Gamatko said okay and told us someone would call us to process the refund. On May 16th, 2024, we received a call from a lady by the name of Kelly Giola. She told us that AJ Perri had a meeting about us and they will refund us but we need to fill out a form online. She gave us a website and told us if we had any issues to call her or go to Home Depot. The website was not working and there was no way to claim the refund online. The next day we tried contacting Ms. Giola but she ignored our calls and no way we could reach her. We went to Home Depot to see how we could claim the money and they were so defensive on the whole case. The installation manager, Mr. Owen, came to speak to us. When we were explaining the whole thing to him his reaction was "AJ Perri does great work for my home and they are our best friends. There has to be a mistake." When he said this, it clicked to us that they would do everything in their power to not give us a refund. We have exhausted all the resources that we have and are just completely fed up with this whole situation. We have been almost a year going back and forth with AJ Perri and Home Depot. All we want is the refund that they have accepted and granted us. Once we spoke to Mr. Owen at Home Depot, we knew we were dealing with extremely unprofessional companies that only care about the money in their pockets. I am writing this review to try to warn people to not make the same mistake that we did. If you are a first-time homeowner, please do yourself the favor and go with a different contractor. Please do your research on the company beforehand but I will save you time. Even if you have to pay a little extra money to go with a different contractor, please do it. I called today just before 9 AM to inqiuire if they were available to fix a leak under the kitchen sink. They expressed the rates for the diagnostic review and informed me that any work that was performed whould be charged and the $129 diagnostic fee would be subtracted. I agreed and they schedculed the appointment between 12 - 4. At 3:50 I called to inquire the statues of the technician and was informed that no techinican will be arriving. This is what unprofessional looks like! No call to inform me of the status and the lady who took my call then provides the additional attitude like its my fault or inconvenience. For those of you who have used AJ Perri and have had success I can only say, this probably won't change your mind.
