While he was friendly, he didnt eliminate my acne. The areas of acne he injected reduced the swelling, but then it got worse two days later. Furthermore, I just got the bill from my insurance, and what I thought would only be a $35 copay ended up being $100 because I was charged for the injection, and even the solution they used on me! If I had known, I would have refused to injection. During this visit, the doctor told me he was going to have me use a 20% benzoyl peroxide lotion and that I could get it from the receptionist. Apparently this lotion is homemade and costs $35 out of pocket (not covered by insurance at all and the office takes all the profit). This lotion is no joke, it will burn your face off. I was also prescribed Doryx which would be approximately $300 with my insurance coverage. The doctor gave me some coupon that reduced it to $25 (but I had to call to activate the coupon by giving all my personal info). The worst part was the pills didnt work!!! They were huge and hard to swallow, even when cut in half. I looked up Doryx online and it says for acne, it must be taken for 12 weeks. Seriously? Three months of an antibiotic?? I've been to many dermatologists and it never took that long to clear my face with antibiotics. He was probably trying to promote the medicine to get $$ out of it. I went to my regular doctor last week and asked for help with my face since Dr. Johnson didnt do it for me. My doctor prescribed me some pills and within days I've noticed a difference. The cost of the medicine with my insurance? $5!!!!! Next time I'm not going to a specialist. I wont be back here again.

The care was also very good…read more There were some things related to communication around what my insurance would and wouldn't cover that broke down a bit, and to be fair that was on me as much as them. The only reason I removed a star is because I had to wait a while for both of my appointments with them which isn't uncommon at medical providers but is still a frustration for patients/customers who might be operating on a tight timeline. The location is very convenient for anyone living in the neighborhood. The office was very clean. IMPORTANT: this is a note I'm sharing on every review I leave for medical providers regardless of my experience with them, as a PSA for others - it is NOT a reflection on the provider: ALWAYS confirm how a medical provider will 'code' a visit/procedure/service and understand how that relates to your insurance coverage BEFORE you schedule the visit/procedure/service. For example: will a preventative screening with a dermatologist be 'coded' in a way that'll compromise my insurance from covering a future preventative annual wellness check with my primary in the same calendar year? This is an extra step that can consume time but it is worth it.

In my first experience with this, they prescribed the wrong antibiotics for my son on a Friday. Not a huge deal if they would respond to urgent messages, but they don't, so I had to drive back to the office after 6 hours, or risk my son going the weekend without antibiotics. They also permit "same day" and next day appointments, but make no effort to actually book them so you'll be left in the balance wondering if you have an appointment or not. As far as I can tell, they simply do not prioritize communication, which is unfortunate given that good medical care is built on good communication. I looked past all of that because of convenience, but today my 16 year old went today for a follow-up appointment and they demanded payment for an appointment she had 3 weeks ago before they would see her. I haven't received a bill or an EOB so over the phone I asked that they see her and send her home with an invoice. Again, this is not an overdue balance - the insurance claim probably just settled from a visit 21 days ago. I think it's pretty reasonable to ask to see what I'm being asked to pay, what insurance paid, etc. They refused to see her, so she once again wasted her time. My family is taking our business elsewhere.

Unfortunately, my experience was completely ruined by an administrative and billing oversight that ended up costing me significantly out of pocket. Prior to my first visit, I confirmed with both my insurance and this office that they were in-network. I obtained a referral from my primary care doctor and presented it to the front desk at my first appointment. They accepted the paperwork without question and proceeded with my treatment. It wasn't until after my second visit--and after having my primary doctor redo and resubmit the referral--that I learned the initial paperwork accepted by the front desk was invalid. Despite making numerous attempts to resolve this with billing, filing an appeal with my insurance, and escalating the issue directly to the practice manager, the office refused to take responsibility. My insurance company confirmed that the practice should never have accepted improper documentation or proceeded without valid authorization. Because of their front-desk mistake, both of my visits were processed out-of-network, leaving me stuck with a very expensive bill. It is incredibly disappointing that practice management wouldn't own up to an administrative error made by their own staff. While the medical care is good, the lack of billing integrity and customer accountability makes it hard to recommend this practice. Protect your wallet and double-check everything yourself if you choose to go here.

Prior to Dr…read more Peters, I saw many doctors who could not help explain or definatively identify what was going on with my body - I was loosing hair, loosing eyebrows, often covered in different sorts of rashes and/or hives, but according to an allergist I wasn't allergic to anything. It seems that a multitude of doctors could have easily biopsied my rashes or hives, but it was never even mentioned by anyone until Dr Peters examined me. Dr. Peters is a good listener. Dr Peters is very thoughtful in his approach. He didn't argue my symptoms. He took small biopsies of skin, which aided in helping identify an auto-immune disease that otherwise wasn't on my radar. I've read reviews that suggest he, or his office, often run behind schedule. That is true, I've seen him now at two different practice locations throughout the past decade and he often runs behind - I think largely because he takes him time to listen and address each patient uniquely. At times, I've waited over an hour to see him. BUT, I will wait as long as it takes to see Dr. Peters. That is how valuable I find my time with him to be. He is incredibly thoughtful and detailed. He never intimidates with medical knowledge, and takes the time to talk to you. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Peters, his approach, and his ability to advocate for me over the past decade. I truly am in better health because of his care.

I still stand by my statements that the staff is wonderful, caring and professional and that Dr. Epstein is an excellent surgeon (see my Yelp review) ;my issue with the mgmt/owner(s) who have shown themselves to be greedy, stingy, and money hungry. Case in point: I recently had a 3rd surgery with Dr. Epstein at a cost of 20k; mgmt/owner(s) would not even discount 5% let alone 10. When Epstein had the business (he sold it 3 or 4 years ago), 2nd and subsequent surgeries would be discounted at 20%. Anyway, I asked for a discount and was given $500 off ( 2.5%), really?? On a 3rd surgery at 20K?? And, because I did not schedule within 90 days of the quote, the surgery increased by $330! Granted, it did state very clearly in writing that quotes were only good for 90 days and could increase, but seriously?? On a 3rd surgery at 20K?? That is what is called legally right and MORALLY WRONG. So that $500 discount is now down to $170 or less than 1%. Talk about money grubbing! Plus, when I brought it up, I was given a "gift bag" supposedly worth $214, HA! I wasn't born yesterday, but if 2 travel sized moisturizers and a thimble full of sunscreen are actually worth $214 (which of course they are not), then take it off the bill! Bottom line: a $1,000 (5%) $2,000(10%), or even $4,000(20%) discount is not going to make or break me; and it certainly wouldn't make or break Concierge Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, but what it would have done is shown me that they valued me as a client. Of course I now know that my patronage is not appreciated. Therefore, I have found a place where I am appreciated and that place is The Warner Institute, 436 Frontage Rd, Northfield (see my yelp/google review of them).
