a shell gas station at night
    Chuck M.

I have to give dues to the business and its efficiency...fair to good...now on with the rant: It is my belief that for all intended purposes, the prices for fuels that franchise stations charge the consumer...are directed by the oil company...in this case "Shell Oil Company"... Today for the first time, regular unleaded gasoline exceeds $4 per gallon (thats an astounding $15.14 per Liter)...and while the economy struggles, Big Oil is posting record profits. I am a business man so I understand completely the goal of making a buck... yes I understand this. But I also understand the discontent with the 1%...and this is where I direct my rant. Greed...corporate greed, is a major obstacle to economic recovery... there is no excuse. With that said, let me share with you an interesting observation... Thirteen Observations made by Lemony Snicket while watching Occupy Wall Street from a Discreet Distance 1. If you work hard, and become successful, it does not necessarily mean you are successful because you worked hard, just as if you are tall with long hair it doesn't mean you would be a midget if you were bald. 2. "Fortune" is a word for having a lot of money and for having a lot of luck, but that does not mean the word has two definitions. 3. Money is like a child--rarely unaccompanied. When it disappears, look to those who were supposed to be keeping an eye on it while you were at the grocery store. You might also look for someone who has a lot of extra children sitting around, with long, suspicious explanations for how they got there. 4. People who say money doesn't matter are like people who say cake doesn't matter--it's probably because they've already had a few slices. 5. There may not be a reason to share your cake. It is, after all, yours. You probably baked it yourself, in an oven of your own construction with ingredients you harvested yourself. It may be possible to keep your entire cake while explaining to any nearby hungry people just how reasonable you are. 6. Nobody wants to fall into a safety net, because it means the structure in which they've been living is in a state of collapse and they have no choice but to tumble downwards. However, it beats the alternative. 7. Someone feeling wronged is like someone feeling thirsty. Don't tell them they aren't. Sit with them and have a drink. 8. Don't ask yourself if something is fair. Ask someone else--a stranger in the street, for example. 9. People gathering in the streets feeling wronged tend to be loud, as it is difficult to make oneself heard on the other side of an impressive edifice. 10. It is not always the job of people shouting outside impressive buildings to solve problems. It is often the job of the people inside, who have paper, pens, desks, and an impressive view. 11. Historically, a story about people inside impressive buildings ignoring or even taunting people standing outside shouting at them turns out to be a story with an unhappy ending. 12. If you have a large crowd shouting outside your building, there might not be room for a safety net if you're the one tumbling down when it collapses. 13. 99 percent is a very large percentage. For instance, easily 99 percent of people want a roof over their heads, food on their tables, and the occasional slice of cake for dessert. Surely an arrangement can be made with that niggling 1 percent who disagree. ...so, let me wish you a good morning my friends, I do hope the sun is shining on your back and a cool gentle breeze is wisping through your hair...happy Sunday.

This gas station is really close to the rental car return for the SEATAC airport. It was easy to find and easy to get in and out. Gassing up here was easy and it was a simple transaction at the pump.

Very close to the rental car return facility. If I'm ever in Seattle I'd stop here again to fill up my rental before returning it.

I get to use my fuel rewards and it's usually just a could of cents less than the station across the street.

Coworkers recommended this place for breakfast, ordered a sandwich which was not good and service was not good.

After my brother completed his purchase and asked for a bag, I finished my purchase and the clerk did not give me my change. When I asked for it, he claimed my change was used for a bag given to my brother. He never mentioned or told my brother there was a fee for the bag. I told him my purchase had nothing to do with his purchase. The clerk began yelling and using profanity, telling my brother to "get the fuck out of my store." During the confrontation he also used racially derogatory language, referring to my brother as a "black motherfucker." This escalated what should have been a simple issue about change and a bag. If he responded nicely, my brother would've paid for the bag. At one point the clerk also reached as though he might be drawing a gun, which made the situation feel threatening. I attempted to calm the situation and told both of them the argument was not worth escalating, but the clerk continued using profanity and again told us to "get the fuck out of my store," while claiming he was the owner. I am sharing this because customers should not be subjected to profanity, racial insults, or threatening behavior over a routine purchase. Regardless of whether this person is an employee or the owner, this interaction was unacceptable and extremely concerning. I'm also asking anyone who could be subject to racial slurs, to not patronize this store.

At first, they struggled with the huge number of customers who flooded in looking for snacks and beverages and at that time, they refused to sell any hot food items after 10:00 PM. They kept running out of food and the variety was very limited. It's been a few months now and they now offer a better variety of food 24 hours a day however, they don't seem to rotate the items in compliance with health department standards. I've gone in and seen some shriveled up hot dogs that look like they've been on the roller for days. They don't stock very many name brands as everything has been replaced with a 7-Eleven branded package and who knows where they source their inventory from. My biggest complaints about this location are that there are never enough employees working and the lines get very long. On top of that, their largest customer base are the people who are employed and work at the airport, and we all have to take our items through a security checkpoint, and all of our food goes into a tub and then through the x-ray scanner machine. This location started out using the 7-Eleven branded takeout containers for their hot food items like the clamshell boxes for the hot dogs and pizza slices but now they only offer cardboard boats. The kind that you get an order of fries in at the carnival. These do not go through the x-ray scanner very well and leave your food vulnerable to foreign objects or worse, getting tipped over and falling out. The employees don't seem to care about the customers which is quid pro quo for most 7-Eleven locations but since they are in the airport, they are charging you airport prices. I feel like that should come with some level of professionalism and respect, but what do I know? Most of the other retail and food establishments located at SeaTac airport offer us a 10% employee discount but not 7-Eleven, even though this location is owned by the same lady who owns all of the Hudson news locations at SeaTac. If you're in town visiting, I'd suggest walking a few blocks down to the other 7-Eleven on International BLVD. If you're traveling from Seattle and want snacks for the flight, they are a tiny bit less expensive than other convenience places on the other side of TSA. Just be prepared buy some generic alternative to what you really and and then wait in line for rude employees to check you out and argue with you if you need a refund or something doesn't ring up correctly. Thanks for reading and Cheers!
