This company sent a technician who confirmed there was an issue with the system -- specifically, the 30 AMP breaker wasn't drawing power and required an electrician. Despite this, they reported to American Home Shield that there were no issues, which was completely inaccurate and misleading. When I escalated the situation and brought their manager onto a 3-way call with AHS, he was dismissive, unprofessional, and demeaning throughout the conversation. When I asked that the technician receive proper training so this type of misreporting doesn't happen again, the manager simply replied, "nothing needs to be done." That response alone showed a clear lack of customer service and accountability. They also advertise a 30-minute arrival notice, yet I received only 5 minutes. The technician then called questioning why I wasn't at the property -- not considering that many customers own investment properties and may not live on-site. Another senior technician sent out and gave me another diagnosis and quote which included over $2000 which my warranty company will not cover; this included $500 for an attic light even though I already have one. We had Marc Rose come out and look at our AC Unit. He was advised that the ac was responding with the unit and certain rooms were not cooling properly. He was also advised that it could be the damper. He said the damper was fine and that our system was leaking. We would need to replace our evaporator coil and recharge our system. He also put on there that we needed to bring our house up to code by adding condensate drain changes and a flow switch. This left us with a $3400 bill. We had another company come out for a second opinion and the confirmed that is was the damper and my air is working great. Awesome company to work with. We just bought a home and a few weeks later the AC quit working. A buddy of mine said it was probably the motor and would be $800-1200 to replace. But since I have a home warranty he told me to go through them. So I called American Home Shield and they set me up with Airmax.. The next morning I get a call to make the appointment. They get me in the very next day. I get text updates and a 40 minute re-arrival text. Two guys come in, and tell me it's just the capacitor that needs replacing. Was assigned Airmax from American Home Shield. Had no issues with my HVAC system prior to calling them; just taking advantage of my home warranty options to use the yearly maintenance. Scheduling was quick and easy, the person who called me was very friendly. Here's the end of the positive review. Once the technician left, we immediately started having issues with our furnace popping the breaker unit. We called Airmax back to have the technician come back. Again, very friendly people, but basically was told "it's electric, not us." & because of this, AHS doesn't cover the problem anymore. So I call an electrician. Guess what? it's the furnace blower motor causing the fuse to blow in the unit; not an electrician's issue. Probably the worst experience I have ever had with customer support. Extremely impolite and unprofessional receptionist. I could not contact directly the people doing the work, and receptionist is seemingly contrary to be interested to be of any help. About the professionalism of the technicians I could only say that it took them three consecutive visits to diagnose the clogged drain. Every visit they came up with different cause, (certainly not covered by AHS) and at the last visit they've said that "somebody cut the straps on AC unit, that's why it is now malfunctioning". We've had a terrible experience with AirMax. We had them install 2 new air conditioning units 2 years ago. Since we have had so many problems - they ice up all summer, have had to replace the capacitor etc. meanwhile no issues with our 3rd 20 year old air conditioner. We asked the technician why all the problems vs the old unit and he basically said the Daikin units have problems but a good parts warranty. Six years ago we bought a 20 year old home with two air conditioners that had been acting up each summer. We weren't in a position to replace them so we relied on American Homeshield (AHS) contractors to keep them going. Seems AHS contractors make a living making service calls so we knew we were buying time. About three summers ago AHS sent Airmax to fix our AC that died on the hottest day in August while family was visiting. The service tech was very knowledgeable and he spent a good deal of time explaining the issues with each unit and what we could do to get a few more years out of them. We were so impressed with their knowledge, service and honesty that we asked AHS to send Airmax anytime we needed AC service. With the cost of freon skyrocketing until it is no longer available in 2020, we decided it was time to replace both units. I called several reputable companies for quotes and picked their brains for a consensus about the brand models and price. Scott Ward from Airmax spent the most time with us from thoroughly inspecting our units then explaining his recommendation without pressure. Once we were done, my husband and I knew we were selecting Airmax. Two weeks later (4/14/18) they had a team of professionals at our home to install our two new AC units, furnaces, thermostats and sensors to be sure the guest rooms are cool and comfortable when they are here. I'm especially excited about being able to adjust the room temperature from my cell phone. We now have peace of mind that we are finally ready for hot summers! I realize no one is perfect, but I also know that I have high expectations and I am very picky. I rarely make time to write a review but we are just so thrilled with Airmax and the investment in our two new units that I just had to share our experience. Very disappointed in the overall communication and clarity between their receptionist, sales staff and workers. No direct line to contact the people who do the work and in turn would wait days to here back or get any responses. Can only contact the receptionists who leave much to be desired in politeness and customer service. Very rough around the edges attitude. Multiple times I would call and leave a message or reference our ongoing work and whoever answered the phone was clueless about anything at our address. Maintenance was on top of it all not timely in showing up and would not appropriately ask or communicate the full scope of what needed to be down. New AC install scheduled for 11. Showed up closer to 1. Airmax did not communicate the individuals would also need full access to our house and would track in drop cloths and leave the attic open for hours at a time and block our drive way. Feedback - have a designated point of contact for each job for clients. Someone Who can text back or customers can call vs having to be passed around and get constant voicemail or we will call you back. More urgency in returning calls from entire staff. Be clear on duration of work, start time and what repairs will consist of. We only went with this company bc they gave us a small price break on new system and repairs thru our american home shield. Our house had AC issues last August. Our home warranty program assigned Airmax to come out and do the work. We had a bad coil and they replaced it along with adding in freon in mid August. We used the system until temps cooled down (about 1-2 months). With temps coming back up, we turned on the AC to ensure our kids would have cool rooms at night only to find that it was blowing warm air. We had someone come out and take a look at it and were advised that there was a leak by the coil suction line and that all our freon was gone. I called Airmax to see if they would stand by their work and they very clearly advised that they would not. They said that they had a 90 day warranty and that is all they would honor. Now I know that this issue was discovered outside the warranty, but considering the AC was fixed so close to when you stop using it, we don't know when their work failed. For all we know there was a leak the entire time. The person I spoke to was flat out rude and was clearly uninterested in the conversation. The overall takeaway from me is that Airmax work might or might not last more than one season. If it fails they will not take any additional efforts to do right by their customers. There are plenty of AC companies out there, so I would advise looking for one that does quality work and if something goes wrong that they believe in customer service. Airmax is not one of those companies. I am now having another company come out and take care of Airmax's poor work. And yes, the company that has come out to fix it has assured me that if this issue had occurred when they did the work that they would have no issue owning the mistake and covering it. **Adding an edit as the other company has fixed the issue** There was a bolt that was not secured properly by the coil that Airmax installed. A simple recheck of the work by the original tech from Airmax would have found this issue. DO NOT USE AIR MAX. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE... for full story, read below... Our home warranty company assigned Air Max to our A/C unit claim. A woman at Air Max called to schedule a diagnostic visit for our attic AC unit that was making extremely loud noises. I told her I could provide the following information so her team could be more prepared for this diagnostic test, as my wife is due to give birth on Monday! - Recorded audio of what the unit sounded like - Picture of the tag on the unit so they'd know exactly what make/model they'd be dealing with - A recommendation from a family friend who is in the AC business saying that he was 99% sure that our blower wheel was coming apart. Very distinctive, loud sound. What I got was a rude response that she did NOT want any of this helpful information. She proceeded to say she HAD to schedule a diagnostic visit before anything could be done. Okay, fine. Turn down this important information. She then said she could come out today between 12-2pm, after that it'd be Wednesday before they could come out. Okay- book it for today. I told her that since she is turning down this information, her tech will have to come back out again a second time to actually service the unit, correct? Correct. Okay, well let's go ahead and book the second visit for Wednesday, so you don't get booked up. Let's be proactive here. In a snarl, she said, "No, I am not allowed to do that." I then re-emphisize that my wife is DUE MONDAY, and asked for her manager, or whoever was "allowed" to actually help me, and she said "It's me." She then proceeds, "You should work with another company" .... wait, what? This is how we are going to deal with this? I'm happy for Air Max that they have so much business that they can turn down a customer who just wants to book their follow up appointment in advance... as they have a NEWBORN BABY coming home next week! Think about what's best for your customer. IF after the diagnostic test today, we realize Wednesday's appt won't work, we could always reschedule. Your process isn't flexible enough to allow for this? This lady wanted nothing to do with us. The lady who RUNS this business... 1) Did not want to use any helpful information I had to potentially streamline this whole process 2) Was not willing/able to simply schedule a follow up appointment, given the circumstances 3) Told me to go somewhere else This conversation lasted 5 minutes. The entire time the manager of this company was completely unhelpful, and had a terrible attitude. I realize you have a scheduling process. - Sometimes the right thing to do isn't a part of your current process. You were asked to be flexible, and you were not. I realize you can't buy parts for an A/C before you diagnose it. - But maybe your tech could diagnose it (our family friend was able to), if he simply just used the pertinent information I had. After speaking with you, odds are is he's probably smarter than you give him credit for. Sometimes what's right, isn't part of your process. In the beginning of May I called my home warranty company about my AC not cooling well. They provided me with Airmax as the provider. The supervisor came out and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He diagnosed it right away. I had a bad coil in the air handler in my attic and had leaked out around half of my coolant. The home warranty company approved the repair and I paid my service call fee plus $95 for the mastic seal that is not covered under my warranty. A few days later two technicians came to install the new coil. (Unfortunately the home warranty company would not pay for them to remove the door and frame to get the coil in out so I had to do that part. No fault of Airmax though) After the repair everything seemed to be working fine. About three or four weeks go by and I open the door to check on the filter and notice my drain pan is full of water. AND the seal I paid an extra $95 for was never installed. Every time the unit shuts off it pours water out. I initially thought it was my drain line clogged so I cleaned them out only to realize it was not the issue. I called Airmax and they send Jimmy out to check on it for me. Jimmy was excellent. Very knowledgeable. He knew what was wrong in less than 5 minutes. The previous crew had installed the drain pan on top of the coil instead of on bottom!! I spoke with the supervisor who was very professional and assured me it would be handled. He even arranged for the technician to come out on a Saturday morning because I could not miss work. They showed up and made a mess dripping water down my stairs. It took them 2 hours to realize it was not installed wrong but was actually the wrong part. The technician then told me he would not be reconnecting my AC to prevent further rusting of my drain pan and that they would be back in about 3 days with the parts to fix it. Uhh NO!! I called their boss and told them it was their fault it was full of water for a month and rusted due to installing it incorrectly then turning out to be the wrong part. Three more days wouldn't make much difference. I did ask if they would install a new drain pan since this one is now completely rusted and I was told it was not in danger of leaking. Then told it would be impossible to replace it without removing or replacing the air handler. I'm sorry that it would be an inconvenience but all parts should have been restored to the condition they were before they started working on my unit. Anyway three days later the part came in but they were not available to come back until that Saturday. (GOOD thing I insisted on them reconnecting my AC!!) This time I got a different crew. They were polite and seemed to know what they were doing. They got the new part installed. When they were just about done I mentioned the mastic seal. They knew nothing about it. If I weren't standing behind them when they finished the coil I would have still been missing the mastic seal once again. (Oh and they were removing the door and frame for free this time since I had no help and shouldn't have had to do it more than once) The next day I went upstairs to put my shop vac back in the garage and the attic space door popped open and I notice the duct tape they rolled up to keep it in place which still didn't help! The frame was put back together so crooked that nothing lined up and the door would not shut! I WAS LIVID! I had to go next to and ask my neighbor to help me reframe the door because I am done with Airmax! There are a few good employees but also some incompetent lazy ones!! One more thing to mention is they don't pick up after themselves. My drain pan and attic had trash, screws, zip tie pieces, and tape all over. If they ever decide to make it right and replace the rusted parts I will update my review to reflect it. read more

This is lengthy, so if you don't have time to read it, just do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! Our home is under warranty, and AirMax is a contractor for American Home Shield. The downstairs air conditioning wasn't working, and a call was placed 7/20/2015. The first service technician came 7/21/15 and stated it had 10 lbs of humidity due to bushes/grass and to wait 48 hours. We did, and it was still hot. As a result, we called back only to get another technician come out 7/24/15 and state that the bushes are fine, but the compressor's broken. He stated he would return the next day. Robert repeated he would come back on Saturday to my husband and me multiple times. We waited until around 1 pm Saturday only to find out AirMax was closed. Ryan, the AirMax on call technician and the manager, stated that there were no compressor appointments scheduled, and they didn't have the parts anyway. So we waited until Monday 7/27, and AirMax stated that they couldn't come until Wednesday 7/29 from noon-3 at the earliest. So we waited. When two technicians came on Wednesday 7/29 around 4 pm, AirMax had ordered the wrong parts, so the project could not be completed and to wait another day. The worst part was a third technician came to the door and stated that it was a good thing he was there because the other two repairmen were going to put on the wrong parts. Then the schedule lady from Airmax called to let me know there were issues, and they were going to buy the right parts later in the evening so they could return after 2 more customers on Thursday 7/30. I spoke with her further regarding my concern for the AC unit upstairs cooling the entire 3600+ sq foot home for two weeks, and she said it should be fine. Well, it's not. It's now broken too. Currently, we are staying in a hotel due to the incompetence of the AirMax service technicians and wondering why we are having to foot the bill. If the first service technician had given an accurate diagnosis and went to the attic units like the second technician did, we wouldn't be in this hot Texas situation two weeks later with two broken units! After these multiple instances, I would have appreciated some communication with store management as soon as possible, but he would not reply. I called and waited. I tried to debrief him of the situation, and Ryan stated that he did not want to rehear everything that has already occurred. He also asked if there was a real AC issue, because if not, why am I calling? Seriously? The management speaks to the customers in such a condescending way? Yes, there is a real AC issue when it's 91 degrees in the house with 3 children ages 2, 3 and 5 that have documented medical issues. Yes, there is an issue when AirMax technicians cannot properly diagnose AC issues or order the right parts or know which parts should be installed on a unit! Do yourself a favor and RUN! American Home Shield needs to use a different vendor that knows their field of speciality! read more

Accommodation My home warranty company assigned me to Air Max, Inc., after I called in to request a service appointment this Friday morning. After finding this vendor has an 'A-' BBB rating, I made a proactive outreach to their office. Despite this being my first business interaction, every person who I spoke with was very accommodating and helpful. From Hanna, who took my call; Kim, who set my appointment; Eva, who took my follow up call, every effort was made to try and have their Tech, who was already in my area, fit me his schedule before 1pm. After my wife reminded me that I had school pickup for our sons today, I sent an email to Air Max about my A/C issue then spoke to Eva to let her know if their Tech could not be at my home before I had to leave, then to please fit me into the next available time a lot as soon as tomorrow. Eva let me speak with Kim, who confirmed receipt of my email. Eva called me a little past Noon to say that their Tech was on his way to m home. Jimmy arrived and after listening to the various checks I did this morning (checked circuit breaker & visual inspection on the A/C unit in my attic), he went about his diagnostics. Turned out the A/C unit had some debris blockage in the flow that triggered the unit's shut down. He cleared the blockage to fix my problem. I couldn't have asked for anyone better than him. They overcharge for all these supposed code upgrades to get money from you they aren't getting from the home warranty company. I contacted the city who had no idea what all the charges were and why they would be needed. We had American home shield.They don't pay refrigerant fee. Because of airmax suggested that compressor has warranty, I need to pay $300 refrigerant fee second time at the same year. Great company from top to bottom. We used these guys last year when American Home Sheild assigned them to us and we had such a great experience that I called them first this time. I wanted to make sure we got Airmax as our company of choice for our furnace problem. The lady who took our call and was efficient, kind and professional. She made sure AHS gave us a service # so they could work on our unit. The two gentlemen that came out today were also professional, clean cut, polite, knowledgeable, informative and fixed our problem. They weren't pushy on getting a maintenance plan with them but we plan on doing it and they informed us of several issues that would have to be taken care of prior to selling our homein the future because certain things weren't up to code. Seems like they are riding high on the home warranty hog while bumping those customers to the bottom of their list. They came out to address an AC issue 2 weeks ago. The repair consisted of replacing our air filter and fixing a broken voltage breaker. It's now 2 weeks later and the issue has reoccurred. Reported the issue late Thursday night but was told a technician wouldn't be available until the following Wednesday. So much for "24/7 Emergency Service." I found Airmax through American Home Shield home warranty company. I will say that they were courteous, efficient with setting up appointments and the technician arrived on time. That will be the last positive critique in this review. When the technician, Kyle, came through my door, I asked if he had shoe covers before coming in my home and he said that he did not. So I asked him if he would mind slipping off his shoes while he is in my home. After a hesitation, he told me that he might have one in his truck and that he'd check. Lo and behold, he managed to come back with two, one for each foot. So, my assumption is that he just didn't want to be bothered. Strike one. After tramping in & out and throughout my house for approximately 45 minutes, including outside and in the attic, he came in and sat down on my upholstered couch in my family room to discuss the prognosis. Uninvited. I know I am picky about strangers in my family's areas, but I don't even allow my kids to just lounge their sweaty bodies in there. Plus, I am old school - I don't sit down in a stranger's house unless I am invited to do so. Different generation. But for Kyle, Strike two. Another misstep he made was not understanding his audience. While I am no HVAC repair expert, I do understand basic concepts regarding heating and cooling. It may be because of my years working in the power industry as plant engineer. Perhaps. In any case, he managed to dump quite a bit of horse's crap on me for the next few minutes, peppered with comments such as, "I'm sure you don't understand this, most homeowners don't". Really, Kyle??? Strike three. However, it was his specific instances of misinformation that troubled me. He told me that I needed a new coil. And that if I replaced the coil, I would be better off also replacing the compressor and then upgrading to the new refrigerant, because I wouldn't have to retrofit the new coil to the old compressor. And that although the new coil could handle the old refrigerant, it would contaminate the new coil so I couldn't be able to use the new refrigerant in the future when I replaced the compressor. True, perhaps, and quite possibly. The diagnostic indicator, according to Kyle, that led to this recommendation was that the head (pressure differential) on the compressor was extremely high, leading him to believe that there was blockage in the coil. And the capacitor on the pump, trying to overcome this blockage, caused the electrical breakers to trip. After all he could do, he couldn't get the unit to run and provide any cooling. I asked if the compressor units were clean (twice, in fact) and he assured me that dirty compressor surrounds were not an issue. Bullmalarky!!! We've just recently had a lot of construction work in the yard. I knew that the compressors needed cleaning and hadn't gotten around to it. We have three systems for the house and all of them were dirty. Kyle's first big dirty stinking lie. Secondly, I already knew we had a weak capacitor on this unit. I guess AHS doesn't share repair history because another AHS-provided company did the quick fix for it. Not a replacement, but a patch up. I didn't share because Kyle put me off when he lied about the shoe covers. No mention of the weak capacitor or any quick fix that could be done to ensure the air conditioning came back on for my kids. But a lengthy sales pitch about why I needed both a new coil and compressor. I really liked the part where he told me that if I just replaced the coil, I'd again have to pay for the recovery of the existing refrigerant, $153, and recharging the unit with new, $520, ostensibly not covered by AHS. However, and this I know for sure, all the refrigerant can be pumped down and secured in the compressor, any work then performed, and afterwards all refrigerant can be released back. And the big grinning part? An extra fee for disposal of the old coil $165. The last time we had a coil replaced, my husband hauled it to the dump, using some sweat energy and about one gallon of gas. We might have to pay some small fee now, after all it even costs money to dispose of televisions and refrigerators now. But I dare say not anywhere close to $165. I've also had two other HVAC companies give quotes since. Airmax quote to replace my coil, after all the non-allowed costs I'd have to pay?$1639 for some no-brand coil. Contractor #1 quote to replace with a brand name Carrier coil? Not going through Airmax but less the AHS contribution? $1510. Contractor #2 quote, brand name American Standard new coil? Not going through Airmax but less the AHS contribution? $1475. In a nutshell, and to use the vernacular, Airmax sucks!! The big one!!! If I had to issue advice, it would be: 1. I've had This company out to my house twice in two months each time they had a new reason now here I am again no AC 83 degrees and they say someone will be out tomorrow American Home Shield say's I have no choice but to have them come out again!! If you like sitting in the heat and paying lots of money this is the company for you. I've now had this company at my home every month since July 2015 with each visit a new problem this last visit 9/22/15 icing on the cake. My home is 9 years old the Tec said I needed a brand new unit that to keep putting a bandaid on this one wasn't going to work any longer I get a call from American Home Shield telling me what all they would not be covering based on the report from the Airmax Tex the grand total out of pocket from me $1800 this included updating my electrical panel on a home less the 10 years old! This company is out to rip consumers off. I just called an independent company from Home American Shield didn't tell him anything he came back with the problem the coil is bad and needs to be replaced I asked if he had checked the whole unit he confirmed he had and the unit had no issues other then the coil leaking! I then shared with him the report that the Airmax Tec gave me and he said none of this is true. That the company probably works on a point system and the more points the Tec gets the bigger the prize they receive! Disgusting that a company like this is in business and not regulated by anyone except an Owners Morals based on my experience I'm going with NONE for Airmax of Celina Texas!! Another bad review for Airmax. We were assigned Airmax with our home warranty and they can out to look at our AC which was not working. Here is a recap of our experience...you decide if you want to use them or not. 9/18/17 - Came out and spend most of the day looking at outside unit and in the attic. Determined a part needed to be ordered and it would take several days to get the part. Also, said they would have to replace the refrigerant when replacing the part and that would be a charge of $665 not covered by our home warranty. Humm. I fell for it and paid them. 11/3/17 - Unit not working again. Came out and got running again. 11/10/17 - Unit not working again. Came out and got running again. 11/15/17 - Unit not working again. So after the third trip in 2 weeks they determined we did not have enough return air and we need them to add another return air vent and it would cost us $1,025, of course once again not covered by home warranty. At this point we called our grandson who owns his own heating and A/C company. Bet you want to know why we didn't call him from the start....so do I! I was paying for home warranty and so of course wanted to use them so I wouldn't have any big expenses for repairs. Boy was I wrong. Anyway, our grandson came out and laughed that they said they could not capture the refrigerant and SAID they put in new and we paid $665 for. They most certainly could have used the same refrigerant. And as far as the additional return air ...well it has been working just fine for over 10 years so that certainly was not the problem. Our grandson said another return air would be good but it was marginally needed. If you use Airmax, you may find yourself getting a second opinion. Oh, and I also canceled our home warranty with American Home Shield as you CAN NOT speak to anyone should you be dissatisfied or if you have any questions with ANYTHING. We had to wait 4 days for a AC technician to come to our home. We were supposed to get a phone call 30 minutes before show up time, but didn't. The technician just shows up and I had to race home to meet him. All he did was put freon in the AC unit and didn't check for any other problems. He wanted payment and left. A couple of hours after he left, the AC situation got worse. The AC was not cooling off and temperatures inside the house reached 90 degrees. I called the dispatcher and told her to send the technician back out, all she could tell me was there was not much she could do. She said I had to wait 24 hours and schedule another appointment with the home warranty company. Unacceptable! That's just bad service! If you have a choice, stay away from this A/C company. They don't care about customer satisfaction. read more

I put in a request on 8/24 1:30 am and it is 8/25 9:55 we are up and running. They originally had us in a 3-5pm window. Something opened up and moved us to this morning. We had a call about time change, I had a call telling me service guy was headed my way. Very pleased with the prompt and efficient service. Use AHS warranty company and was very lucky to get Aixmax. Ran a bit late but did call. Alex and his partner was very friendly and quit to get to work. Found the problem and quickly changed out the part. Did charge 70 for a lb. Of freon and gave alot of advise on future system upgrade but did not try hard sale tactic which I really appreciate. Check the other system and upstairs vents to make sure everything is in tact. Will use again...... read more
