Smith & Keene Electric Service - Technician Chad checking my upstairs unit

Smith & Keene Electric Service

(41 reviews)

Today was my senior-annual Heat Pumps service check before the season change…read more When Chad arrived I told him about my problem with the system not bringing the temperature down enough during our terrible East Coast heat waves. In addition to checking the units for winter, he did extensive testing to determine if there was a problem that had caused the summer problems. Using a digital device he was able to determine the ambient temperature and the temperature from the vents. He showed me the readings and explained what they should be. The final result was that the downstairs unit was low on freon. The upstairs unit was fine but the heat rising would have caused the problem upstairs, Of course I approved the freon addition, which I found to be very reasonable, He had some freon left after filling the downstairs unit & added that to the upstairs unit, Following the freon replacement Chad did the same digital testing again and showed me the difference. In addition, he told me my lawn company had gotten grass clippings in the outside back portion of the upstairs unit. He told me to tell them to aim the chute away from the unit. Since the lawn company was here at the same time, I was able to tell them immediately. He also moved a piece of Sheetrock that had been propped against the other outside unit. It must have been there since I had construction work done on that side of my fence. The service I received today from Chad was absolutely excellent, Smith & Keene is very lucky to have him as an employee. After he left I immediately called their service department to tell them how pleased I was with the service.

The worst customer and product experience I have ever had in my life…read more Truly feel like I'm talking to children. Unhelpful and condescending children. I had a brand new HVAC installed. Within one month I experienced two separate leaks. The first one, they begged and pleaded me to pay 200 bucks to correct THEIR mistake. If I didn't push back and refuse this ludicrous, they would have taken advantage of me. The second leak occurred which also caused water damage to my first floor, they refused to take ownership again. I had to cut out the ceiling, re-do the drywall and paint, which inevitably delayed my ability to rent out the property. Costing me THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. Then weeks later during renovations, I had two general contractors, at separate times, tell me how terribly the HVAC was installed. It was missing a filter and not draining properly, which again, they refused to take ownership for. I asked for a refund of the labor installation (roughly 50% - $5500) because it is a very obvious botched labor installation. Larry Miller, service manager at Smith & Keene is an absolute joke. He doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. An absolute utter waste of time, resources, money and energy. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ABYSMAL COMPANY!!!!!!!
