Thankfully, Atomic Plumbing & Drain Cleaning came through for us! Huge kudos to Jim and Will for being so professional, polite, and persistent. I called Atomic Plumbing last month to quote a repair for a leaking corroded drain pipe in my crawlspace that caused a strong odor in my home. I clearly communicated the crawlspace's tight space when setting my appointment, and they agreed to send someone suitable for a $95 diagnostic fee. However, the fee for the quote unexpectedly increased to $275 for a relatively brief visit. Security cameras show the technician spent less than 10 minutes in the crawlspace. To make matters even more concerning, the technician claimed there was also a leak in the wall that would be requiring major kitchen repair and gave us a referral card to their preferred restoration company. The technician from Atomic claimed that this was a huge insurance claim and that we would be getting a whole new kitchen out of the ordeal. Three other professionals (from both a plumbing and a water damage restoration company) later confirmed there was no leak in the wall at all. We opted for a pipe swap from galvanized to pvc by removing some drywall under the kitchen cabinets, no cabinet removal or wall restoration was necessary unlike what the technician from Atomic Plumbing told us. I also found it odd that the technician described the damage as extensive but didn't take any photos to show us, unlike the other contractors who documented everything and deemed the issue manageable. I was leaning towards going with Atomic Plumbing initially. They had good availability and could've gotten the done the job sooner than the other company that I received a quote from. They did have a very quick response time, as they were at my house within an hour and a half of calling them Unfortunately the cost for just a quote jumping from $95 to $275 without any warning felt like a bait and switch, and is what ultimately made me decide to call another company for second opinions and repairs. I'm very thankful I trusted my gut and didn't go with Atomic and have my kitchen ripped apart for no reason.

After the new parts installation he filled the sink with water to create pressure then let it drain. There were no leaks. I'm very impressed with JR Plumbing's prompt response to problems. Update: Kyle came back today to replace the plumbing under my kitchen sink & remove the evil garage disposal. He did a beautiful job. I'm completely happy with his work, timeliness and how pleasant he was. Finding a good plumber can be tough. Finding one that comes in a timely manner can be even harder. I'm in the midst of a major update & renovation of my mid 80's house. When my husband was alive he could do any household repairs & installation. It wasn't his profession. But he was really good at it. Now I have to live in a "Brave New World", Over the years since he died I've used a number of different plumbers, but none that completely met all my needs. Although my kitchen is planned to be the last project I tackle, I had to take care of leaks under the sink that have gotten progressively worse. There will be a 24 hour period when the bathroom vanities are having new countertops, sinks & fixtures installed. My Contractor's plumber will come the next day to connect them. So the kitchen sink will have to be the replacement for the bathroom vanities during that time period. The leaks must be taken care of before then. My Contractor looked under the sink, took pictures and recommended that I use his plumber. He contacted JR Plumbing for me, sending them the pictures and my contact information. I got a call from JR the next day and was put on their schedule for the following day, The company sent a text confirmation with my technician's name & a noon to 4pm window, which suited my schedule well. When the technician Kyle arrived I was impressed by his pleasantness & attire in a JR Plumbing shirt. He examined the area under my kitchen sink & understood what I wanted done. The leaks were in multiple places: the garbage disposal, P trap & the fixture. Since I would be having the sink & fixtures replaced in a few months I didn't want things replaced that I would be replacing again in a few months. I wanted the garage disposal removed & taken to live in a new home, preferably the City of Virginia Beach's Recycling Center. I wanted the P trap replaced and the fixture problem corrected. Kyle's response on the fixture issue made complete sense as I didn't want to replace it at that time. After inspecting he contacted the office & wrote up an estimate, which seemed very reasonable for the work to be completed. After approving the estimate, I was delighted to receive an early next week date for the repair. Kyle completely understood my needs and was an extremely pleasant technician. JR Plumbing is now my plumber of choice.

1 -- Lost fastener, improper reassembly, higher power bills, and poor follow-through…read more I contracted Philbrick Inc. Heating & Cooling for routine cleaning and maintenance on a system I purchased from them for approximately $8,000, and for which I've paid hundreds more over the years for service. The technician who performed the service lost a manufacturer-specific fastener and reassembled the enclosure improperly. One corner of the cover was left with about a 1/2-inch gap, which allowed a significant amount of cooled air to escape into my attic throughout the hottest part of the summer, increasing my electric bill. I discovered the problem months later while replacing the filter. I called Philbrick the next day and requested they correct their mistake. It took approximately four days to get a technician on site. He confirmed a fastener was indeed missing and attempted to fabricate a substitute. Lacking the right part and skill for that task, he ended up taping the corner of the door--a stopgap that still leaked air. He said he would try to scavenge the correct fastener from an old unit back at their facility and "take care of it." Instead, I was told I owed roughly $100 for this visit, despite the issue originating with their prior service. After multiple calls, I spoke briefly with the owner, who said he would investigate and get back to me. He never did, the service call was in June. About two weeks later when I called for an update, the receptionist told me the charge had been waived and she'd leave a message with he owner, but no one has ever followed up about the missing fastener or the energy loss. Today, I went into the attic myself with a flashlight, mirror, and magnet. In about 30 minutes I located the original fastener inside the unit and repaired the enclosure properly. I should not have had to do this. Based on this experience--poor workmanship, delay in response, an inadequate temporary fix, an attempted charge for their error, and no meaningful follow-through--I cannot recommend Philbrick Inc. Heating & Cooling.

Neither he nor Virginia Natural Gas could get it lit. VNG told him that I needed a plumber. The technician also gave his general assessment of what he thought was the problem. It wasn't a surprise to learn that my regular plumber didn't do gas appliances since they require additional certification & equipment. He referred me to someone who referred me to someone else. I checked the Yelp reviews for that plumber & Philbrick, the plumbing company used by the restoration company that has done work for me. Philbrick had good reviews. The other had bad. Thank you Yelp! Calling Philbrick I expected a wait for service. Their customer service person put me on hold then returned to the line with great news. They had someone in the area & could come right away. Amazing! My tenant was home so I hoped to handle my end over the phone. The technician called on the way to the property and we discussed the problem. He finished getting the pilot light lit in record time & called me from the house. When that particular pilot light is lit there is a button you have to hold in for a specific amount of time. He had instructed my tenant on what had to be done. Both the trip charge & the charge for starting the pilot light were extremely reasonable. We handled the transaction over the phone with a credit card & the receipt was emailed to me. Randy, the technician was extremely nice and answered all my questions regarding the age & normal life span of the appliance. I also questioned the life span of electric hot water heaters, which I have in my main residence. I've had a hot water heater flood before. So I wanted to avoid that at both properties. When I thanked him for the prompt response he told me that he had been rerouted to me. His next call had been sent to another technician. That's the perfect way to handle "In Home" scheduling by a repair center. This company receives my highest recommendation. Thank you for making what started as a really bad day not bad at all. I didn't even lose my morning coffee hour(s) because of the conveniences they offered.

I called Pride Mechanical on Sunday and left a message on their non emergency voicemail. They called me first thing Monday morning, and we set up an appointment for a timeframe that worked with my fairly busy schedule for that day. Really convenient. Got a text saying they were on their way about 5 minutes after the 3 hour appointment window started. They were at my home in like 20 minutes after receiving the text. The inside of my house was kind of messy, but they didn't even need to come inside. They were able to go straight to my units and start their diagnostics less than 3 minutes after arriving at my home. Within about 15 minutes they had successfully figured out and fixed the problem. I could not have asked for a better experience. I was very grateful and impressed. The technicians were polite, friendly (and not aggressively friendly if you know what I mean), and did a great job discussing my HVAC system and answering my questions without getting overly technical or insulting my intelligence by being overly basic. As AC repair experiences go, this was the best I've ever had. The speed of service and professionalism was first class all the way.
