They came out did a diagnostic told me there was a leak in the coil and that needed to be replaced plus a new drain pan and locking caps. I was also told I needed 6 pounds of refrigerant that was nearly 700 dollars. A fee days later the techs came out to install the items in which they only installed the coil that wasn't installed properly and the size was too small. My unit only worked for a little over a week and I had to do 2 recall with AHS. When the manager David came out, he showed no remorse that his techs didn't complete the job right and told me that he thinks there is a leak in the wall and that I would have to pay another 3500 dollars for them to break the wall and replace the pipe. The problem before hand was never looked into and my air is still not working in the middle of this Georgia heat. Please stay far away from this company. It seems like they hire people with little to no experience that don't know what they are doing. I felt like I got ripped off paying 1350.00 for repairs that were not done correctly and incomplete. This is overdue. Just like everyone else I was greeted by a Jovial Mr. Ricky Qualls. He pulled out…read moreseveral instruments and educated me on the readings he was getting and in the end he sold me a capacitor for $300.00. Since I know capacitors only cost about $10.00 I asked twice, "Is the $300.00 with your labor?" Both times I was told "No." and explained he wasn't charging me for labor and couldn't leave me in 90 degree heat. I borrowed $150.00 to give him and agreed to pay the rest on the following Friday, Friday came and I contacted Mr. Qualls and explained the air was still not working. I was asked to keep the air on for a full 24 hours but to no avail. A couple more calls provided more advice to monitor the unit for a day and a week and report back. Bottom line is I have no air, no heat and no $375.00. Being left with this dilemma I decided to request a receipt for two reasons. My roommate at the time was responsible for 1/2 of all maintenance and refused to pay her 1/2 because the air conditioner wasn't working and there was no proof I had the unit services. The second reason is, surely a $300.00 part comes with a warranty and if it didn't fix the unit it must be faulty. I would have liked to replace the part to rule it out first before attempting to fix other parts. Mr. Qualls said the part came from a company that only sells to licensed contractors. So, I did some research. I have yet to find Mr. Qualls license or insurance information that he said he had. Not to mention his Business AIR CONTRACTORS LLC was administratively dissolved back in 2022 and he was arrested for burglary and possession of tools for the commision of a crime. Which is concerning since he has to come inside your house for the services he advertises. Mr. Qualls advised me to contact his wife for a receipt. Four requests later and still no receipt. Best advice to anyone reading this is, stay away from Thumbtack. Most complaints from the BBB and other sources show they come from the contractors who believe Thumbtack is ripping them off with fake leads. That type of company culture obviously trickles down to the customer.
