Air Canada double charged me for flights booked through Expedia. Now they won't refund the double charge. What a joke this airline is.

WestJet - first flight on a monday, 6:00 am, ultra basic

WestJet

I may aThe s well write about this airline ( considering 1.I just flew with them and 2. I am under…read morequarantine for the next two weeks. Here is what I love about them. The staff are amazing.. they definitely make you feel welcome on board. Since their inception, they have grown to becoming a serious contender in flights to international destinations ( I would not recommend it right now though ). The beverage service is pretty much right away when you reach cruising altitude. I had a decent seat on the way to L.A and managed to get a few zz's as well. Landing however .. well that was the roughest landing I ever had.. it was a loud thump.. people reacted too. My way back however, I was in a different seat ( and I am not paying 44 bucks US to change seats ).. last row. And wow can you really cram that last row in... it was the most uncomfortable seat I ever sat on ( even when I was in Yellowknife and flew on Buffalo Airways - the C46 in the flight deck ). There was no leg room, no reclining, and absolutely no place for your arms. Even though I am a fan of the airline , I feel the last row can be removed to make more leg room. The nice part was... they have great snacks ! And there's toilet paper n board .. hahaha.

This review is specifically to complain about how Westjet LIES about its timeliness to skirt…read morecompensation rules. If a WJ flight is late or delayed, even by hours, it will continue to say online and at the airport "on time". Lying crooked jerks! This happened to us in Maui, 2230h flight out that did not leave past midnight. 2 hours late, yet everything online and in the airport says "on time". So anyone with kids, with diabetes, anyone who might need to plan in advance for 2h difference, too damn bad for you! Today, our flight is scheduled to leave at 1615, with boarding at 1535. It's now 1600, no plane at the gate, but still "on time". Screw you, WestJet! You sold out and now you suck and are an embarrassment to your legacy.

I have done the Canadian Transportation Agency for flair with successful outcome, dm me on…read moreinstagram if you need help!! I've used in Dec 2022 and more recently April 2026. In Dec 2022, I was very lucky to board the F8500 YFK TO YVR and F81501 from YVF to YFK(Waterloo airport). With a ski bag, boot bag and personal bag Lucky is an understatement, I was grounded for a week along with many other flights and fortunately YVR airport stepped in to compensate hotels, meals and transit because Flair Airlines was not providing any compensation or accommodation. In this same flight, I took on a ski bag that was only used for one other trip and a boot bag. I even stored my helmet in my boot bag padded with towel. My ski bag was ripped and my boot bag was also damaged, along with the helmet being crushed. There was a big dent. After 3 years I did get a resolution with Canadian Transport Agency for my ski baggage refunded, the compensation for a new ski bag and compensation for a new helmet. I didn't both with the boot bag- it was old. In this experience I found severe inconsistencies with handling ski bag and boot bag. Flair YFK expected me to duct tape the boot bag with the ski bag. And truly before leaving I did try to get clarification as some standard ski bags only have room for skis and poles. While at YVR. they did a quick test on the skis (not sure what) and away I go in the oversized section. So after being stranded for a week with excessive wait for Flair to go on repeat cancel flight then reschedule a week later I took a break from Flair. In April 2026.i took it to YFK TO YYC and YYC TO YYZ with a ski bag and a personal bag , I decided to give it another try, one thing is that going from YFK would save me the transfer time to Toronto Pearson airport. This time at YFK I wasn't asked to duct tape my boot and ski bag INTERESTING! So this time, I took a roller style where I placed two boots and one ski in one bag and a second bag to carry another set of skis. In the bag, I carried another ski bag for the boot just in case I got separated from my travel companion. It was easy breezy but the personal bag size limits POST flair bag sizing scandal was a bit sketch and heavily enforced. So much that they are tagging carry on and personal bags. On the return from YYC to YYZ, I watched another patron with a ski bag and a standard boot bag (side hang mount with space for helmet, snow pants and snow layers), have his content ripped apart. Understand that if you are skiing, you will also be carrying long johns, extra layers, ski jacket (built with arm ventilation and snow skirt), snow pants (with vents potentially) and a person may have a conventional jacket depending time of year. While I didn't have issues, there is a severe inconsistency and I dunno if he just had a hard time because the patron was not familiar that you can't fit boots in some ski bag configurations. And while the website doesn't specifically say restrictions for ski related clothing- there shouldn't be much of a restriction. I should mention snowboarders have but pads, elbow pads, knee pads- and some pants are built in with the ppe. My travel companion got dinged for $100 just carrying a standard puma bag- usually around 6kg with a Mac book and some light clothes. IF HE DIDNT PAY THE $100 he would not be allowed to board the flight is what he shared with me. The competitor Air Canada was running flights around mid-$500 to $600 and with my branded credit card I get two checked bags. So $420 vs $600. I'm not sure it's extremely worth the hassle with the additional fear of being surcharged. Overall in 2026 the difference with handling is that flair offers a $60 credit if they are delayed up to one hour. YFK to YYC I found my wait time 50min, not enough to get a credit. I also found that each reservation was made separately and this resulted in randomized seating-some children separated from their kid. I also noticed a credit card charge applied on reservation- so debit saves you- but then you can't use the benefits for flight delays and travel interruption. The change fee was $190 for me to change my return fromYFK to YYZ, because change was within 7 days. Overall lots of anxiety travelling with strict personal bags. You sort of have to make sure your destination has washing ability because you're packing lighter. Overall travelling with a ski bag with boot bag or all in one roller is possible but I have overall anxiety. I certainly don't argue that my flight with ski gear was around $300 per person and I added a $190 change. If I used Air Canada, I would be charged similar unless it was a point redemption then I have 24-48 hours to refund the points and taxes. I should note that the flair website restricts one set of boot and ski per passenger while paying for checked baggage with air canada you can fill it with as much skis- so I usually throw all the skis in a standard roller and boots in a hard case luggage.

Dehumanizing experience at the gate. Agents were measuring everyone's bag and it was no…read moreexaggeration that at least 1/3 of the flight were on the floor putting on their extra clothing to reduce bag size. What did I see after the second measure? Everyone putting their clothes back in the bags... All airlines have some leniency but not Flair, especially when it's rumored that agents get money for every carry-on upsell. Never flying with them again.

The stewardess that we had was excellent as she new I had not slept as I was waiting for the plane that arrived 5 hours late and we are the type that come the required 3 hours early. Small squishy uncomfortable seats and the drink given was a 1/4 cup of I they called it champagne?? Hotel: Do not trust the star rating, always check the travel sites for the hotel you are going too (filthy is supported by Sunwing. The persons representing Sunwing has no real power to help. The one we had I really feel tried. Wow you can spend all your time having to get basic things like a clean room. I am not sure what the hotel gets; however for our trip we paid 5 star prices. SILVER STAR VARADARO (not the one in town). If we would have paid 3 star price this would have been ok if clean... we paid a lot!!! The beach is nice; however the only time it was sunny was when we obtained a clean room so spent a lot of time indoors getting this sorted out. (all would have been ok if the filthy did-repaired rooms were not used). See the reviews about room about no hot water (when it is cold you need it) and some rooms being very filthy that the sand fly bites are worth getting, to sleep on the beach which is cleaner. Some staff helped me get in touch with an amazing lady who was in a manger role who helped me and my young son get a clean room and one that did not have water poring from the ceiling. Do not expect the front desk staff to do anything!!! In the first room: Phone did not work so no wake up call, walk through rubble to get to your building and then walk as my son called it "hallway of doom". Everything in disrepair and limited lighting. The upgraded rooms were just fine (not fancy; however we were more than happy-hot water would have helped with the cold) We were able to obtain a clean room (previous room had water pouring from the roof and the beds were so filthy with fecal stains and really bad). . Either room had No hot water and the place was very cold (winter in Cuba). Food: Difficult to get reservations; however overall food was good. Clean and healthy we are happy. Activities: you need to get there early for the one activities as little room and outdoors (when it is rainy, gusting winds, cold there are not alternatives. If you can find a gold ball the mini two hole golf course was in pieces!! Found a fairly dirty but warm sauna, my son was to scared to go in!! No hot tub (seriously very cold in the winter CUBA with storms daily). Pizza place next to golf and sauna area was barley staffed and staff were rude!!! all other areas I thought he staff worked so hard and tried hard. Everyone kept commenting: the staff that had to actually work were great!! Pre paid exertions. DO NOT GO ON THE JEEP SAFARIE. 1st. you drive if this is good for you and you can manage a standard and like to drive!! great. 2nd. the exertion did not pick us up so for three mornings we were up at 6 am (trying to find food to eat in a rush then rush to wait for the pick up!! A REMBUSEMENT OR SOME COMPENSATION FOR THIS EXPENSIVE ACTIVITY SHOULD HAVE OCCURED!! 3rd. you get to drive through piles of garbage lined roads with no actual safari (hurry up and wait). 4th. ruff weather you do not snorkel (I get they can not do anything about the weather; however a back up plan, especially with the cost should have occurred 5th. The farm that you go too... Did have excellent food and the lambs were so sweet and looked well cared for. The market you pay for the items; however well worth it (these people work hard). The peanut butter bar is so amazing 6th. Horse ride well not organised, just a circle in a muddy area. I did not get to go as there was no time and multiple groups, no organisations as the tour staff were no where to be seen, and if you actually push yourself to the front of the area to get a horse to take the 3 to 5 minute stroll... you may get a ride in time. 7th. The people of the farm were hard working and nice. The swim area you go to expect to pay to change and again feels like you hurry up to wait again!! OVERAL IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET. We did meet up with some wonderful people that OVERALL: This is a place I want to love. I and many of the people I spoke to suggested: If the dirty and disrepair rooms were not used this would be a big start. In the CUBA winter have doors on the upper common areas so you could stay out of the wind and not freeze as bad. Get the water problem fixed. The activities in the day and evening need work. Really clear the resort did not care the only late timed performance was the only effort if you could find a spot to see. -Front desk staff knowing what activities are occurring and accountability. Heard some very unprofessional comments . Honest start fresh as the staff were pathetic (this was commonly mentioned) Sun Wing have some accountability!!
