When I was trying to change over insurance and went to another agenncy I felt more confused than when I went. Going to ama the Agent, who I think was named Justin, walked me through the process, helped me track down the documents I needed and overall saved me from a meltdown. The last visit I had Briann, who not only was super friendly and helpful. But she was able to give me the paperwork I needed for my health cards and explain why the number I had wasn't working, when no one ese knew. So 10/10 customer service indeed! The only con is that, you can get your insurance cheaper and there is a membership needed but for me, in the end it is worth it!

I popped into this AMA because I happened to be up in St Albert, and was in desperate need of…read moregetting registration on the Yelp-Mobile. I had stopped into my "local" AMA a week prior, and proceeded to walk straight out because the line was bonkers long (as it always is at the Gateway BLVD location). I also have been stuck in ridiculous line-ups pretty much every time I've gone into the West-end location on 170th Street in Terra Losa - so I didn't expect anything much better at this one... Low and behold - no line up and lots of employees! Hallelujah! This may just be the hidden gem of an AMA that I have been searching for! Oh, and the 2 young ladies working the registration desk were just lovely!

We went to China last August. So we need to get Chinese visa…read more The Chinese Consulate is in Calgary, since we didn't want to go to Calgary (twice), We search in google and find visatochina, who is authorized to accept visa applications and take them to the consulate for you and they are also the largest visa provider in Edmonton because we found a lot of travel agencies collect passports for them. They are in the west end and the office is beautiful. The visa costs $92, and they charge only about $33 service fee on top of that which is super reasonable. If we go to Calgary ourselves, the gas will cost us much more than that. It takes about one week to get the visa back, pretty fast. You can also pay more to get rush service, which is only 3 days, but we had no need for that. The visa application form, as well as all the required documents are available on their website. They checked my documents carefully to make sure everything is fine. For the payment, they take cash, debit and credit card. But for the credit card, they charge 3% service fee which made me a little uncomfortable. When they explained to me that the Chinese visa service center don't take credit card and the charge service only to cover their expenses which is charged by the bank I think it's acceptable. After they take all the documents and money, they'll give you a receipt with a pick up form. On the form, there is a pickup date which you can pick up your passport on that date of after because they guarantee the time Our passport came back exactly as they promised and their receptionist is very kind and served us with great patience. I recommend them because they gave me great service with low cost and save me a lot of time. Just search in google "visatochina edmonton" if you want to use their service

I have been an AMA member for years and I definitely utilize their services as much as possible…read more I have booked numerous trips with AMA Travel and I have always been happy with the process and the results. The process is simple; they pretty much do everything for you. There are times when I have had specific requests (I want a resort that has this but not this or I want a hotel that's close to here) and they have always catered to them. They narrow my search and present me with the best options - it's that easy! I've always enjoyed the trips and recommendations from my AMA Travel agents as well. When I went to Mexico, my agent recommended a certain tour. We did the tour and we absolutely loved it! The AMA also has travel gadgets and luggage available at their travel desk. My last trip was to Las Vegas and my agent emailed me (I told her I preferred email) to see if she could recommend any shows or places to eat. I asked her about some shows, decided on a couple and they turned out to be fantastic! I really like the AMA as a travel service because they make everything easy - they way it should be. Why go somewhere that is going to complicate things that don't need to be complicated? AMA Travel is fantastic and I couldn't be happier with them!

I laugh how the "bad" reviews are hidden on here but hopefully people find this and look at the…read more"not so suggested reviews" I know people want to feel safe spending about 120$ a year but what does it get you? Nothing but a headache! So for starters if it's 3am and your off the road in -40 no one is behind the phone to help you, all you get is an answering machine and a repeating message saying "open Mon-Fri, 9-5 (might I add I just called a 300$ tow truck that was there within 20Min) Now also the times you really need it is the cold mornings and your car does not start before work and needs a boost! Everyone in Edmonton that day seems to need a boost too and when you call for a boost it's a 6-12 hour wait. So what loose a day pay waiting around for a boost, I don't think so! So this also goes for the Travel section of AMA! They are the worst customer service I have had and it was at this location I went to. The employees were not helpful for what travel I was booking. I was so frustrated with them I went home and looked online and I was amazed. If I booked a flight with west jet on their website it was 500$ and that exact same flight on AMA was 700$ so your loosing money booking threw 3Rd party with AMA. My aunt also had a trip booked threw them after my experience but it wasn't until she had to cancel until I found out. She booked ahead of time but her sister past away and she could not go on her trip. Ama was sooo hard to deal with and the people did not know at the center, she had to wait for a call back which took 1day! She had her trip refunded to a gift card because it was too late to cancel even tho it was 5 days before her trip. And to get the gift card was very very very hard, it was a battle to get that. So another part to the story is my aunt lives in B C where there is no Ama which is horrible because alllllll gift card purchases have to be made in store only haha what a joke this company is. My aunt cant afford to fly to alberta to spend her 1600$ gift card. I never ever spend time giving reviews but this has to be put out there!

We had booked a trip through here and didn't have the best experience. The trip was good and enjoyable but dealing with the travel agent was such a hassle. She was always getting our trip details mixed up and never informed us of any flight changes that we needed to know about. The trip was to Cancun and for the flight back we were giving the wrong departure time. It was a few hours later and no one called to inform us of this. When we got to the airport and met up with people that had come to Cancun on the same flight as us they said their travel agents had called them to inform them of the time change. We never heard from ours, we were just thankful it was a later time and not earlier. I wouldn't book through them again.

They have a great line of men's clothes and I once found a cute light-weight summer dress on a clearance rack for $20. I remember looking at some of the hiking wear and thinking it was crazy expensive. While I might stop in here if I were planning a trip, I'd sooner spend my money at MEC, where you can get all of the essentials, support an environmentally kind co-op, and have your dollar stretch a bit further. Parking is around the side if you can't get street parking.
