General Manager Derek Look is hands down one of the most unprofessional people I've ever encountered. The rest of the staff is lovely but this GM is horrendous. Callous, rude and incredibly arrogant. Boarding with my friends, brought my board in for a minor tune up, rental supervisor Chauncey was nice enough to lend us snowboards while ours got a minor tune up. $25 for waxing and cleaning up the edges. I couldn't be happier with the customer service, with a free rental so we wouldn't be wasting an hour if boarding time. On a Friday evening we pretty much had the hill to ourselves, great way to start the season despite the chilly weather. read more

I had a good experience here. We had a coupon for lift passes, rental of snow boards and an initial lesson. It was for a few hours of instruction and then we could go on our own as we pleased. The staff was young, very very young. Not that this is not a problem per se, but an older guy like me does not have the flexibility, endurance or agility of a 19 year old, like the one offering the beginner training snowboard class. We did the best we could and were able to learn some new skills and get down the hill in one piece. Hooray for us! Pros: the food was cafeteria style burgers and fries. Nothing show-stopping, but acceptable. The chalet was warm and accessible. The staff was friendly and helpful. I appreciated the energy in the place, it was populated by a young crowd, mostly teens. Cons: the understanding of our particular instructor of what a 30-something body can and can't do was not there. That has nothing to do with anything but a lack of training on the part of the ski hill admins. They need to teach the teachers about how to cater to different skill levels and audiences. I wish there were more food options for veg-heads, but I'm not holding my breath, Overall the experience was exhilarating, and I thoroughly recommend taking the class if you've never used a snowboard before. Go slow, take your time. No one is in a rush to beat the olympic record on their first run. If you fall, let it go, let it go. The more you try to fight it and keep yourself from falling, the harder you hit and the more you risk getting hurt. The instructors will help you, listen to them and extract as much info from them as possible. So much fun, I'd recommend it for kids from 1 to 92. If you go only for a couple of hours at the end of their day, it's $17 buckaroonies for an adult lift ticket. Personally, not being a shushing pro or powder hound, I'm done after about 2 hours anyway, Good cheap fun, especially if you borrow equipment from a friend or buy your own used gear :) read more

I think Rabbit Hill has the best ski hills in the city, if you extend the definition of 'the city' to include Devon. Might happen some day! 20 years removed from a traumatic skiing incident involving flying off the hill and landing in the parking lot (stuck the jump though), I wanted to get back into the activity. I have taken two private lessons (84$ each, 59$ if you have a group pass) and eventually got the weekday pass (159$). No question it can be pricey, especially given that you need to drive out of the city to get here. However, there are always coupons and groupons that pop up. And if you are proactive you can reduce costs. Overall, the lessons were excellent. Learning the proper techniques involved made me really enjoy and now love skiing. Now there is another great reason to embrace winter. A 180 degree feeling from last year. Can't wait to hit the mountain slopes. read more

Pretty decent ski hill, but only one chair lift, so snowboarders have it a bit rough. The view of the ravine and outlying acreages is pretty when you're facing downhill. Staff seemed a little rushed and kind of disenchanted with their jobs. Mind you, it was Family Day when I was here, so maybe they were understaffed. Still, I got more annoyed looks than smiles, and felt like I was rushed through everything. I rented a snowboard, but had to immediately return it when one of the bindings broke. Rabbit Hill needs to be on top of their equipment rentals; what if I had been halfway down the hill when that happened? I might be back; it's a good option to have around Edmonton when the mountains are too far to go to. read more

The hill itself is okay and probably the best in the Edmonton area, not too bad for beginners, but probably a tad boring for experienced riders. It's a great deal if you go on a cheap night, but otherwise it's overpriced for the quality and you're better off going to the mountains. The rentals on the other hand, I'd stay far, far, FAR away from them!! The boards are Burton and relatively decent but the bindings are terrible. The last time I rented there one of my bindings broke clear off from the base which caused me to brutally wipe out. I was wearing one of their helmets and I ended up with a concussion and whiplash all due to THEIR faulty equipment. The only thing they were willing to do was refund my rental rate ($6 on a Tuesday). What a rip! I urge all readers to think twice before renting from there, I know I'll NEVER rent from Rabbit Hill again. read more

This is a pretty decent ski/board hill. There's the occasional icy patch on some days but kind of what you expect for a local hill. It was great for me as a learner though; the bunny hill with the tow rope (that takes some getting used to) is spacious and wide enough for everyone. Bay St. right under the lifts is super wide and a good steeper hill that's perfect to practice on too. Even though it's "blue" it's actually the perfect hill for a someone that's getting too comfortable on the bunny hill. The rentals are so-so... sadly most of the snowboarding boots are pretty beat up, and properly fitted boots make the biggest difference, especially when learning to ride. Nice thing is the rental package is all-inclusive (including a helmet!). But for anyone renting it's a better idea to pay a few bucks more and rent from a ski/board shop in the city and get way newer gear. With the availability of GroupOns, and their Tuesday night specials ($6 for a lift ticket! Another $6 for rentals if needed!), it's easy to go to Rabbit Hill many times. I thought it'd be SUPER crowded...and it sort of was, but it turned out to be quite decent. read more

Very convenient place to ski in Edmonton. The reviews are pretty accurate, not much to add. The price is unbeatable and the location is convenient. The groupon deal is a steal as are the cheapo Tuesday nights. The ski hills and terrain park have decent variety with enough for beginner or low level advanced skiers. The location is scenic with views of the river valley. You can even see the city if you look hard enough. The rentals are ok but the boots smell like dead rotten fish and are unbelievably old. Bring a spare set of socks to switch into after you take off the tilapia off your feet. The service is pretty bad. I'm not sure why they insist on hiring certain types of people as employees. Most of them can't do their job properly, can't be bothered to answer questions, have horrible attitude. Most of them should probably be in school to upgrade their horrendous manners and basic skills like writing, grammar and punctuality. So if you don't have time to drive to the Rockies or if you have a limited budget and are going with beginner skiers, then this place will do. read more

Rental services wasn't good at all. Bad at customer services specially with beginners. I rented and the binding was broke so I had to go back and return it to this guy tried to fix it in front of us and wasted our time. People there doesn't let you know what to do and not friendly at all! Young lady was so cranky and trying hard to be so strict! read more

Somehow I remember this little ski hill being better before, maybe that's just cause I was younger. Long lineups at many times of the day, and overpriced for a small Edmonton hill. Decent runs for a small hill, though. Gets icy fast. A good place to learn (if there's a bit of snow) or practice, but not somewhere I would choose now. read more

Rabbit Hills temporary terrain park rail set up was sticky and unsafe. Unless your interested in a back injury I would bring wax!

Been coming here for a few years now and generally it's good skiing and well organized. The buildings are older but functional. The rental building is well organized with a large selection of boots (some size 16!). The rental staff are helpful. The chalet gets very crowded at lunch time and the cafeteria area where you order food is understaffed and extremely overpriced. A burger and fries will run you $10. It takes about 20 minutes to order food, receive it and then line up in another long line to pay. There must be a better way to get the crowds of people through the food line in a more efficient manner - I suggest bringing your own lunch to avoid the chaos in the food line. I took my son, age 10 (beginner skier) for the first time to Rabbit Hill over the Family Day long weekend. It was fantastic weather and fresh powdery snow so the day was just right to get him back on the hill. However once there the experience has absolutely turned me off altogether. Firstly, for the condition of the rentals (terrible - boots old and damaged and the skis provided were broken at the tips), size of the hill and maintenance of the buildings/shops the prices are extremely high. Secondly, there may be one person in the rental shop that can actually help as the entire thing is a free for all. From the time of ticket purchase, dealing with rentals for my son and actually getting on the hill took 45 minutes AND there was no one in the rental shop. Thirdly, the tow rope for beginners is a death trap (albeit hilarious) as people struggle to hold on and the beginners fall off and get run over by the next in line. My son tried valiantly to hold on, however, the rope slips through his gloves and as he slid back the heat from the friction burnt a hole right through his (very good quality) ski gloves. My gloves were also burned and I had to let go as it was burning my hand. Once we decided to skip the beginner area and take the chair lift, I was actually impressed how user friendly it was to unload for a novice skier. Unfortunately, by this time we had 20 minutes to ski and were only able to take the chair lift twice. So although the scenery is beautiful, Snow Valley in Edmonton is better quality for your time and money. read more

I got a great deal on Groupon. Only down part is I went when only a few of the hills were open due to warm weather. I love skiing so it was fun. Went on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy which was nice. I haven't been skiing in the mountains ("true" mountains) before so I don't have much to compare to.
