Uniglobe has everything you might need for travelling. Specifically hiking or camping. Other than buying travel equipment here they also book trips. We had booked a trip through here and didn't have the best experience. The trip was good and enjoyable but dealing with the travel agent was such a hassle. She was always getting our trip details mixed up and never informed us of any flight changes that we needed to know about. The trip was to Cancun and for the flight back we were giving the wrong departure time. It was a few hours later and no one called to inform us of this. When we got to the airport and met up with people that had come to Cancun on the same flight as us they said their travel agents had called them to inform them of the time change. We never heard from ours, we were just thankful it was a later time and not earlier. I wouldn't book through them again. read more

They have a great line of men's clothes and I once found a cute light-weight summer dress on a clearance rack for $20. I remember looking at some of the hiking wear and thinking it was crazy expensive. While I might stop in here if I were planning a trip, I'd sooner spend my money at MEC, where you can get all of the essentials, support an environmentally kind co-op, and have your dollar stretch a bit further. This is a cute little place on the way to downtown. It's pretty close to the downtown Future Shop. If you are planning on traveling then take a look to see what they have for luggage, have might have some good deals. Or if you needed to book a trip they can help you out with that and then you can shop for some luggage or travel nick-knacks. They have some Tilley hats; which are good quality hats for people who spend a lot of time out in the sun or the rain! My brother loves his Tilley hat and has his for years. I actually believe he is looking for a place to find a new one so I need to remember to tell him about GEO! They are not cheap but they are durable and long lasting; GEO sells them for about $79. I didn't know you could also get Tilley underwear and socks and you can find them at GEO. They also had some laptop bags but nothing for backpacking. They also had some interesting nick-knacks to keep your VISA cards and money nice and dry while you go swimming or surfing. They had travel pillows and blankets for long plane or train rides. My review and rating are based solely on the store part of Uniglobe. I've never used the travel agents. The store is quite good if you're looking for something specific for an upcoming trip, or if you just want to browse and get ideas. Guaranteed you will see something you didn't even know you needed/existed! Among items I've bought here are sleep masks, travel pillows, luggage locks, outlet converters, packing sorter things, and more. I'm in the market for a luggage scale, so I went there the other day to check some out. They had a few different brands. I looked a few up online to compare and will go back to pick up the one I want. They also carry a decent selection of luggage, but you can definitely find them cheaper elsewhere if you look around a bit. They also sell travel specific clothes like tops for different weather, shorts and pants with lots of pockets, hats, and underwear that you can wear for six weeks - ultra fast drying! - but I've never bought any. Expect cute things at the cashier desk like travel games and notebooks. More items for sale: passport covers, luggage tags, toothbrush covers, travel hair drier and hair straightener... I could go on and on. Prices for the smaller items like the ones I mentioned above seem to be comparable to other stores with this type of stuff. I've never seen more than a $1 or $2 difference between travel stores for the small stuff. There are definitely other stores in the city where you can buy travel gear, but for the small items I find this place to do the trick. The staff are generally quite friendly and helpful. The last couple of times I've been there, I've been approached and asked if I needed help, and they gladly looked around and brought me what I needed. read more

I actually wouln't even give this place 1 star. We worked with Elicia Jump to plan our Mexican wedding back in 2009. First of all, they had us pick our wedding date, they gave us our invitations to send out, and then 2 months later came back and told us we had to change our wedding date as they couldnt fit us on the plane (over a year before the wedding date), They wanted half of our family from Fort McMurray to drive 8 hours to fly out of Calgary as they couldnt accomodate everyone out of Edmonton. It was nothing but headaches with this company. Do not book your destination wedding though them!! When our wedding was cancelled 1 week prior to the date (due to the Swine flu) we were the ONLY group they refunded the money too, they made all other couples choose a new wedding date. They also had the nerve to ask for a piece of luggage they gave us back (it was a crappy one too) You have been warned! read more

Uniglobe Geo Travel is a one of a kind place in Edmonton. My review is also solely on the store as I have not used the travel agents. A couple times a year, I find myself going to Uniglobe for that unique travel item I cannot find elsewhere. I always know they have the items I am looking for and it is all located in one spot; no running around town, wasting time and energy, searching. They carry excellent lines in travel gear. In the past 7 years I purchased a couple of pieces of Victorinox luggage and ExOfficio clothing. I love both of these lines and they carry them all the time. The luggage is some of the best and probably some of the more expensive but it works, looks good and is durable. A good investment and you get what you pay for. That said, I also found the exact luggage line available at Winners for cheaper about 2 years ago but of course, with limited selection. As most people who have shopped at Winners know, going there is a zoo and a crap shoot. Winners items also come and go and you never know what you will find there, if anything (I know shoppers, it's part of the charm). However, seeking something specific, I would say Winners is often a shopping trip of wasted time and increased aggravation. Back to Uniglobe: Just this April 2012, I stopped in to pick up a money belt for future European travel. As I walked in I was greeted by not one but 2 people - one was in training. The service I received was impeccable and really informative. I also discovered that they carry Rick Steves travel gear, a line where some of the best ideas in travel gear and travel systems can be found without breaking the bank. Checking out the Rick Steves line is worth a visit in any case! As I was purchasing 3 items (R Steves travel bag I had been searching for, a toiletries bag and expandable wash cloths that come in compressed discs), the sales person informed me that the store is under new management. Judging by this experience, it must be an excellent change. Notice I did not purchase my intended item though. I had such a good time with these 2 ladies and my surprise at finding Rick Steves bag that I forgot all about the money belt! Great service, excellent products! read more

The store is well appointed and the staff were friendly and quite helpful. The merchandise is basically what you'd expect for a specialty shop. They have a fairly good range, but some of it is pretty pricey. I bought a rolling laptop case for about $95 more than what I'd have spent at Staples only because it had more of the features I was looking for. The quality was about the same. Unfortunately, as soon as they had my money, all the 'customer service' disappeared like a flock snowbirds heading south for the winter. My laptop was just a little too big to fit into the intended compartment. I tried to return it for a refund but ran into a brick wall. The 'partners upstairs', the manager asserted, have a strict 'no refund' policy. She'd give me store credit but no refund. It was the ugliest case of 'I'm-just-following-orders' in the service of what looks like simple corporate greed I've run into in a long time. Uniglobe's website is replete with boasts about "proactive and reliable customer service" of the "highest level". Frankly, "with annual sales in excess of $100 million", you'd think they could afford to give this customer his little $240 refund. He might have come back. As it is, I doubt I'll ever darken their door again. read more

Extremely disappointed with Uniglobe and would absolutely never consider booking with them in the future. Not only was the agent completely unfriendly (seemingly bothered by the fact that I was booking a spot in my close friends wedding group), but we had booked far in advance to avoid missing out, seeing that no where in the trips description was the deposit listed as non-transferable (although it did list it as non-refundable). In time I found out I actually would not be able to get the time off work, but when I contacted the travel agent to let her know I needed to cancel my booking and simply transfer my deposit amount to my boyfriends trip total, she informed me that it in fact was non-transferable and then refused to answer any further questions. If they are going to be in the travel industry, they should certainly consider treating customers like less then an absolute headache. So unprofessional. read more

Their store is mostly high end merchandise and they offer great lines, for no matter what type of travel you're doing. They are also extremely knowledgable when it comes to power adaptors and luggage. If you want good quality luggage that will last for years to come, they have it covered. Regardless of what others say, I would strongly, strongly advise on never using this travel agency for anything. We chose to use them and their so-called destination wedding specialist to book our wedding in Mexico. The agent was utterly useless, and was not helpful or available to answer any of our guests questions. Luckily, we were put in contact with our resort where we could speak with the wedding coordinator directly. I could go on and on but I will just say this. Shop around, ask for referrals from friends, use AMA...anything...... just take my advice and DO NOT go to or use Uniglobe Geo Travel in Edmonton!!!!! read more
