Just arrived in Calgary (and to be fair, the flight was very nice), only to discover my bag was loaded on a flight that won't land for another 2 hours. But they promised they can deliver it to me at the house sometime tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for nothing. This airline runs with the efficiency and coordination that only a government run business can. If it wasn't my option for flying out of PEI, I'd never fly Air Canada again. When I made a report to have it sent to my hotel the guy at the desk (refused to give name) said he had no information about when to expect it and was an overall ass. For the largest airline in Canada, it's amazing how much this airline mirrors various budget airlines in its service, reliability, offerings, and amenities. Flew Air Canada for the first time through a United.com booking. The day before I was scheduled to fly out, my originally 4.5hr direct flight from SFO to YYZ was suddenly canceled. Although the message stated that I would be rebooked and notified within 30mins, I still had not received any notifications nearly 2hrs in. Good thing I checked my reservation status online, because I noticed that they rebooked me on a layover flight with over 11hr travel time! I called Air Canada over the phone, and waited nearly 2hrs before someone finally answered my call. They were fortunately able to rebook me to a different direct flight. But this should have been the default given the availability of a comparable alternative, instead of needing me to call to complain first. The 4.5hr flight there consisted of ONE drink run, with NO complimentary snacks offered. I don't know if this was truly a result of Air Canada penny pinching, or if the flight attendants were just not feeling like pushing the cart. Because on the trip back, they at least had 2 drink runs with free pretzels. Flew regular economy due to flight budget restrictions with work, so I was expecting tighter legroom. Not only was the legroom very tight, but the WIDTH of the seat was also pretty narrow. For someone that's already on the leaner side, I can't imagine a wider set person being able to comfortably fit into these seats. For the entire flight to YYZ, the backseat entertainment screen was turned off for the entire plane. No attempt was made to fix this, and when a complaint was lodged online post-flight, no response or future flight credit was offered by Air Canada. At least with United or Alaska, a flight credit would have been offered without even needing to ask first. Air Canada is definitely a budget airline. Because in addition to the sheer level of unreliability, terrible customer service, and all of the issues outlined above, they also charge for headsets and require payment for their in-flight wifi to even stream the entertainment through your own phone. Beautiful airport and nice ambience. Wide range of restaurants to chose from. The rental car return and the walk to the terminal was also very conveniently planned. Just a remark to Air Canada - We loved the puntuality and the notifications regarding the gates and our bags. We liked the seats, they were comfortable. In my opinion, a little more time and attendtion could be paid in terms of the upkeep of the plane. We were seated on the Airbus on our way from Calgary to Newark. My seat 31F did not have the power outlet. I mean there was a hole where the socket fits. I believe with the tight planning of flights, these are missed out. But for the passenger who is seated on 31F it IS a problem. Sorry, if I am sounding harsh, I just want to have the basic necessities and in today's world, power for mobile devices in a necessity. read more

More of a scam than an airline. Booked a flight with refundable tickets. For several days any attempt to change them online failed with error -7 (this service is unavailable right now). Calling the airline resulted in hours and hours on hold with an eventual hangup. Ended up not being able to change the flights and having to lose the tickets. An inch can make a difference, and we are not talking about the bedroom! Flew Air Canada for the first time from San Francisco to Vancouver. Would have liked to have flown from San Jose to Vancouver, but there were no direct flights on Thursdays. $10-$50 charge for advance seating selection. Being cheap skates, we waited until 24 hours before the flight to choose our seats. Air Canada about 10% more expensive than Alaska Airlines over the same routes, but Alaska Airlines has mandatory stops in Seattle when flying to/from Vancouver or Calgary to/from West coast cities of the US. Air Canada in Toronto has passengers to put their carry on luggage into a luggage cage, at the boarding gate, with dimensions 21.5" x 15.5" x 9". Those too large have to be checked in, with a $25 fee per bag. One airline in North America has the guts to enforce the maximum carry on luggage! Flew a 767-300 to Vancouver. Lots of storage space in the overhead compartments. 3 seats in each row on each side of the single aisle. Seats reclined just slightly. I could use my 14" laptop on my tray the entire trip, without headroom intrusion from the reclined seat in front of me. 2 chargers for every 3 seats. Bring your own ear phones for the in flight entertainment system, or pay $3 by credit card for the airline ear phone. One free nonalcoholic drink, and mini bag of pretzels. No hot meals. Sandwiches and chicken or vegetarian wraps for $7 purchase. Credit card only purchase. No cash accepted. 9 days later, flew on an Air Canada Bombardier CRJ705 twin jet engine aircraft from Calgary to San Francisco. Two seats per row on each side of the single aisle. 18 rows, or 72 seats, all seats taken. No dreaded middle seats! I was lugging my 20" x 14" x 9.5" soft luggage. Heaved it up to the overhead luggage compartment, and WTF, it was too wide to fit in the narrow 9" opening, much to the chagrin of the long line of people in the aisle behind me! Dumped enough of the contents into a plastic bag. My soft luggage shrunk down to 20" x 14" x 8.5" and just did cram the luggage into the overhead compartment. Other people had the same problem, some with oversized luggage were SOL. Plane was late in taking off due to luggage stuffing failures! Lots of leg room in the Bombardier CRJ705. 34" pitch between seats in adjacent rows, better than any other airplane I have flown on. The seats didn't recline, so didn't have any headrest banging into my face when leaning down, as happened on Hawaiian Air Lines! Bombardier CRJ705 is a twin jet engine aircraft, with engines right on the fuselage in the rear. Those in the rear like us listened to deafening jet engine noise, so loud we couldn't even hear crying babies! read more

Especially when they start calling for the person and the person doesn't show up. Yes and they still call non stop even after like 10mins ago stating that if that person doesn't show up the person looses her seat. Also I am surprised that there are quite a bit a lot of empty. Mostly in the middle seat. Service is ok. Its funny how the uniform looks so old school looking at the Calgary airport. read more

Awful experience from the day we booked. Check in at Newark was actually very nice. Check in at AC in Calgary Canada was a disaster. We got bumped off the flight even though I paid to get seat assignments. AC has a rule that even if you have checked in online you must check in at the airport 1 hour before you fly. That applies to luggage as well. They do not notify passengers of this rule until you're too late. They started checking my family in and only got my son done in time and then informed us of the 1 hour rule so they could not check us in-so we could not get on the flight. They had 4 employees and 4 computer screens with 4 luggage belts. So all 4 of them could have simultaneously checked us in on time. They knew they had to in order for us to make the flight, we were not aware until it was too late. The behavior and attitude they displayed after we were locked out of our flight was deplorable. Our flight was also delayed by 30 minutes so we were within their set rules for check in. Then the need to rebook for the next day was just awful. My husband started that at 9:30 am and finished at 5pm after several hours on and off the phone with AC and United Airlines. We had originally booked through United. Unfortunately United doesn't have many planes to Calgary so they subsequently partner with AC. Today our family will try again to get home via AC because our options are extremely limited. We have no reasonable and affordable choice. If you need to go to Canada try to find another airline. read more

Possibly the worst flight ever. We used United frequent flier miles RT. Flew in on United SFO to YCC. Returning home it was Air Canada which is Star Alliance partner. Our original departure time was changed a few months prior to our trip. No problem. Yesterday our flight home was at 6:40pm. On time departure. We got to YCC around 3:30pm as it was only a 15 minute drive from our hotel. Went through security, immigration and customs. Great. Walked over to Gate 89. Hung out. 5:16pm - notification of flight delay. One hour delay. 5:40pm, notification. still one hour delay. 5:41pm - notification, gate change to 82. 6:24pm, notification, departure 7:30pm, gate 70. 6:41pm - notification, departure 8:30pm, . 7:05pm - notification, departure 8:50p.m. The entire wing of the terminal was closing down. The various food places went dark around 8pm. Only gate 70 was still open. That was for our flight home. Finally boarded around 8:50pm. Claimed flat tire. Gave us a meal voucher $10 CAD. No free alcohol. Turned out hardly any food available onboard to redeem the voucher. Said it's good for one year, and able to use at the airport. What a joke. The plane itself was tiny. A Bombardier. Two seats on each side of the aisle. So narrow. Couldn't get my 19" carryon luggage in the overhead. Had to shove under the seat after much manipulation. Rested my feet on the luggage. No leg room. A heads up from the ticket counter could have helped regarding luggage requirements. And the flight crew for our flight was also waiting to board. Once we were onboard the flight attendants were not very helpful. No sense of urgency. Did I say it was the worst flight ever? read more

We took 4 Air Canada flights. Two today and two on the 26th of December. My 20 month old has been in her own car seat in a PAID seat the entire time. On this 4th flight, the longest to Houston, the flight attendant decides it doesn't have the Canada transportation safety sticker. So they confiscate the seat and tell us to hold her. This is mind blowing that they treat passengers this way. We are forced to hold a 20 month old for 4 hours. It is also unsafe for her to be in an adult seat belt! Good lesson!... Don't fly Air Canada with kids. To add: my daughter screamed (from being so tired) and jumped all over back and forth most of the floght... much more unsafe then sitting in a US approves car seat. Quite honestly the worst travel experience of my life, on any mode of transportation. I'm not sure I will ever fly with Air Canada again. Definitely my first and last trip with them. I booked a trip on Air Canada initially from Newark to Vancouver via Toronto, which was subsequently delayed 9 hours to become Newark to Vancouver via Calgary. Fine. Just our luck, Calgary was experiencing weather related airport delays so we had to land in Edmonton to refuel. We finally get to take off again and touch down in Calgary. This is where the sh*tshow begins. We are told that as we missed our connecting flight to Vancouver, our rescheduled flight to Vancouver would be later that night at 2:30 AM. Fine. That flight is cancelled at 2 AM, and my luggage (that was definitely of correct carry on size) still wasn't been returned to me till 3 AM. Not cool, but fine, as it eventually got back to me. AirCanada agents that night were very curt and (an hour later) eventually told us that we should "check our emails for our rescheduled flight times." Fine. However, no one provided any help on finding accommodations, especially as a foreign traveler with no cell service, taxi line was 2 hours long, same night finding a hotel to stay at was a nightmare (called 15-20 places, finally a place had 1 last room available) and ultimately the delay cost us about 750 CAD. That's a whole other problem that is only tangential to the actual problem The next morning, still hadn't heard from them about my rescheduled flight, and out of panic and needing to be in Vancouver for business, I bought another flight out of Calgary to Vancouver that afternoon, that obviously cost a lot of money. Here I am, writing this review two weeks later and still no word of that rescheduled flight. I filed a complaint on their website to ask for a refund on that last-minute flight I had to buy. Didn't think this is a lot to ask for given what I had to go through after a hellish travel experience (15 hour travel day that should've taken 8 hours and didn't even end up with me at my final destination) and multiple unanswered questions. The reply I received a week later was for a 30% off one-time flight voucher for my next flight with them. Hell no! Not to mention the meal expenses incurred from staying overnight/the next day in Calgary, and the emotional and psychological stress that was put on me from not having a clear plan of what was next or even what to expect. There was no direction that night whatsoever on what I should do after my flight was not rescheduled. I couldn't get on the phone to call because the hold line was too long with people probably in similar situations, there was no help with accommodations from the inconvenience that night, and was treated rudely by the customer service agents at the Calgary airport when I inquired about the situation that night and the next day. All they said that night was that "you will get emails on being rescheduled onto different flights soon," and left it at that. The next day, the agents I talked to didn't answer my questions about having no alternative flight rebooked and thus not being able to get to my final destination of Vancouver after having the flight cancelled, and kept saying it could be "2-3 weeks" before I hear back from online representatives. TLDR: There was never a resolution to my problem, and this is why I am frustrated. If I had not bought myself a second flight in my panic, I would not have made it to Vancouver, and lord knows how long I would be in Calgary (or if I would still be in Calgary now) if I hadn't taken action. I had such high hopes in you, Air Canada. I really did. Given the poor reviews that fellow Yelpers have given you, I hope you take the time to change your customer service and the way you treat your customers in times of distress because frankly, what you are doing now is not enough. read more

I've taken in the neighborhood of 30 flights with them. Only 6 have been on time. Most delayed, some by over an hour. Unfortunately, as the majority were for work, I had no choice of airline (Booked for me by others) My girlfriend has realized what I've said as her flight to Japan was delayed by 4 hours. She now won't make it in time to see the game shops before they close. Scratch that. Just got a call. Flight cancelled. Air Canada and their staff are useless. I feel bad for my wonderful neighbors to the north that they have to deal with this incompetence on a regular basis as I'm told they really don't have any amazing airlines or real competition. Improperly maintained planes resulting in flight delays, pre-recorded in-flight entertainment, overpriced and slow internet (that works above 10k ft only), additional payment required to get seat assignments in advance of 24hrs, either no free snacks or a tiny bag of pretzels, etc, they follow the United Zone 1-5 boarding method. Positives: AC power for most seats and USB charging ports. Uses nice sounding words like promoted to describe the process of having the airline rebook you to a later flight due to these and other issues. read more

Uh oh! The dreaded Air Canada, or as some tastefully call it SCARE Canada. Air Canada, bring Canada's longest standing and largest Airline, sure gets a lot of bad press. Ask a Canadian what they think of Air Canada and 9/10 will say its awful and would rather fly WestJet. People, give your head a shake! Air Canada has won international awards for best airline and that's not because it has a shiny maple leaf on the tailwing. It's because it's a spectacular airline. Whomever thinks that WestJet is better, must have spent too much time in the pub. After traveling to over 65 countries and finishing a 7 flights-in-4 days trip as I write this review, Air Canada kicks butt! Free movies, plug ins at the seats, great legroom throughout the plane and staff that seriously know what they are doing! WestJet might be vibrant and young, but when it comes down to a good value for money proposition, nothing beats the AC! WestJet has some cheaper flights, but you lose comfort. Now, for all of you 'Casual Flyers' who would take a few flights a year... Don't be tricked into saving $100 here and there, just pay the ticket and enjoy your ride! You are being stuffed into an airtight cat food can for a long period of time, you might as well be comfy! Now, here come the real good perks of AC. I have the lower tier of status for flying with AC as much as possible, so I am fairly low on the totem pole. That being said, here is what I get... Free lounge access (free food, booze and a quiet place to sit or sleep), priority boarding and check in, no-charge seat selection at the time of booking and a stack of guest passes into the lounge. If you see me at the airport, grab me and I will bring you in! Air Canada staff are friendly, courteous and often do whatever they can to help accommodate you. Now take that same discussion I have above and compare it internationally. Canadians are seriously spoiled! United, US Air, Delta, Sky, the list goes on... Old planes, no amenities and grumpy staff. Fun! Go to Europe now, and take a look again. Ryan air, Easy Jet, Virgin, Lufthansa, air France, Air Berlin... I could name airlines for a day. All CRAP. Cheap, but crap. The only honorable mention in here is British airways, they do a jolly good job, but we can't fly them around North America, so who cares! I am tired of hearing people say oh no Air Canada. I have flown both West Jet and Air Canada and they are similar yet different. I choose to fly with Air Canada to LHR from Calgary over BA - why $600 why. I have flown BA before and they were fantastic, but not $600 fantastic. My last trip to LHR, I called ahead in an attempt to change my seat. I wanted to possibly upgrade to business using my points if I could as I had a lot of work to get done and the space would be welcome. My dismay when I come to find out they can't even move me to the emergency rows with the bit of extra leg room because it appears the flight is fully booked. That's fine, as long as I have a seat I am ok. To the second, 24 hours before my flight I log into the website and 'check-in'. I have my seat we are all ok. International flight - I get to the airport with loads of time to spare - you never know with security etc so better to be on the other side, drink a coffee and play solitaire than freaking out and running. Note - the Maple Leaf Lounge - do it! Totally worth the extra! I didn't this flight, I regret it. *SIGH* I get to the gate and there are young children running around and misbehaving, then it happened the hell of all hells. Not one but TWO groups of high school students arrive at the gate ... so now I am sitting there thinking - WHY DID I CHEAP OUT ON THE MAPLE LEAF LOUNGE WHY!? Suddenly, amongst the chaos, a wave of panic hits me - my name is being called to the desk. Don't bump me I have tickets to the theatre I can't miss this flight. (Yeah ok not the brightest move to book theatre tickets on the night you arrive but hey I also cheaped out on the lounge so I know sometimes I am not bright). I go up to the counter, and the lovely staff member asked if I could move seats because one of those families with the hellish children didn't select seats when the booked and couldn't get them together due to the volume of sales on the flight. But lucky me they could put me in a window seat a few dozen rows back. I will admit, this is where I may have got a bit cheeky, oh ok a LOT cheeky. I may have and did say, "I don't have to move do I, I hate window seats. I could be persuaded to move if you could find me a seat in business?" Click click click, print. Here is your boarding pass you are now in 8K. Thank you AC staffer, it has been a pleasure doing business with you. CLINK CLINK FIRST CLASS! Now my fiscally unadventurous side will never permit me to pay for first class I just cannae do it (cheesy Scots accent). However, it is heaven. Priority boarding. Champagne (probably sparkling white, but leave me with the fantasy) mixed with orange juice so you don't feel so alcoholic - in REAL glass. A menu, a choice with appetizers and puddings and METAL CULTERY! A seat that fully reclines an forms a bed. A pod... a pod. No one touching you or coughing on you. Then the little bag of essentials - socks, eye mask, ear plugs, lip balm, toothbrush and paste, a mint. It was fabulous! A easy flight that I have done a few dozen times - noise free from the screaming children and the excited high schoolers. It made me remember my high school trip across the pond - for those that suffered on our flight, I am sorry. Before we land, boarding cards and this lovely little silver ticket - akin to the golden ticket in the famed Willie Wonka. What is it for - fast tracking to Immigration. No queue waiting - just walk up show the silver card and be shown expeditiously to an immigration officer. Meanwhile, the cattle in economy (where I will find myself again) are still waiting to disembark. Air Canada provided this experience, thankfully because some family of lazy idiots couldn't select their seats when they purchased their family of 5 tickets. But they did it gracefully and with a smile and without a fuss. They were spectacular. Anytime I have had to call - ie. change a flight date - the customer service staff have been so kind and helpful. Remember, you are not the first person to call and yell and scream that day. They are paid little and take a lot. If you are funny and kind and appreciative they will help you any way they can. That has been my experience. Worst airline ever. They are so bad, for customer relations there is no phone number only email. So our flight from Calgary to Toronto got delayed 3 times. We would have landed with 20 minutes to make the gate and clear customs. This was 4 in the afternoon for a flight at midnight. 55 minutes later on the phone we had a rescheduled flights for the next day. Party of 4 scattered on the plane. So an extra night at the hotel, extra day of the rental car, daughter missed a day of work. The next day talking with the customer service agent at Toronto she said since the rescheduled flight was on time, they don't compensate for our added expenses, So the moral is fly at your own risk. read more

I have a bit of a love - hate relationship with Air Canada. I love the fact that in the past couple of years they have had amazing fares and sales. I hate the fact that I have never had any exceptional service with them, and a few downright crummy experiences with them. I thought I would review them based against Westjet, our next largest carrier. First the good As Canada's national carrier they fly to alot of places that Westjet doesn't. Aeroplan is quite a good rewards program. Their prices in the last 2 years have been consistently better than West jet ( I got a fare to Orlando for 119 each way from YYC! ) Air Canada is one of the world's safest airlines They offer premium seating in economy ( for a fee), but I like the option Now the bad Service overall is standard, nothing exceptional, nothing outstanding Westjet has a friendlier vibe. I personally have dealt with more delays here than with with Westjet They have eliminated cash on board purchases. I have only once ever had a truly brutal experience with AC - too long to go into here, but at the time they dealt with it the best they could. Final thoughts...despite the things I dont like about AC, they are outweighed by the good. They are safe, and quite often have good deals, so I cant really complain. read more

.Before embarking on a trip overseas I was provided 2 phone nos. by A/C at the time of booking, with which to contact A/C overseas. These numbers were important to me as I was abit nervous since it was my first trip to the middle east. Two days before my return flight back to Canada I attempted many times to contact the 2 phone nos. without success. One of the nos. offered the option of leaving a message, and promised a return call which I never received. (The terms of my ticket stated not to rely on the website.) With all the distractions that come with travelling I mistakenly read my departure time as 11:45 p.m. instead of a.m. The frustration of trying to contact A/C added to this, and consequently I was not able to correct proper flight details, since they were unable to be reached. I've travelled frequently and have never confused the 12hr/24hr times in the past. Air Canada was incredibly rude and harsh when I missed my flight when I arrived at the airport and charged me the equivalent of 2 FULL 2 way return fares for 1 return flight that was already paid for. Air Canada took full advantage while taking no responsiblity for their lack of availability, and made no reference as to why they were not available at their overseas contact numbers, on the phone, or their correspondence after I returned. I feel this was a breach of their committment and duty. The basic service of being able to talk to an agent and confirming flight details should have been expected with my ticket in accordance with what I was assurred at the time of purchase of flight. I relied on this information before leaving Canada. When I arrived back in Canada I discovered their is no accountability for Air Canada to their passengers at all, a far cry from their professionalism of the past. After arriving home I attempted to contact them to let them know of my experience however there was no phone number for customer relations. The only option was to email them from their website. This I did and 45 days later I received what looked like a form letter with no reference at all to their lack of availablity. I phoned customer service and they advised to email it to customer relations instead of refund services. This I did and again received the same result. It's now been more than 3 months later and I still haven't received any help from A/C at all. read more

I feel kind of stupid writing a review for an airline like this since well, Air Canada's reputation for terrible customer service is more renowned than the airline itself. We had a connector flight in Toronto and got a text message saying our gate number had changed from D34 to D36. No big deal. Our flight coming in was a little late but we made it to the new gate just in time for boarding at 3:30 pm. Got to the gate and there was a giant line up of people and the screen said boarding 3:20 to Saint John's not Calgary. We waited in line to speak to the agent at the front and told her we had a text message that we were supposed to be boarding to Calgary at this gate right now but were confused because it said Saint John's and just asked if we were at the right gate. Well, the devil doesn't wear Prada the devil wears an Air Canada uniform! She looked at us, threw her glasses across the desk and screeched that she couldn't EVEN handle Calgary right now and swung her back to us. I kindly told her again that we just asking if we were at the right gate she and turned with fire of hell in her eyes, pointed aggressively at the screen and said "Can't you read???? What does the screen say???" So I literally said "Thank you so much for being so polite about it." BIG MISTAKE! As we were walking away she was screaming at me "Are you kidding me??? Like are you bloody serious right now??" Her reaction was so horrible that passengers were looking at us like somehow we had done something wrong. There is nothing worse than sitting on a plane for 4 hours than sitting on the plane for 4 hours annoyed and upset because someone obviously hates their job and wanted to let you in on the fun. We were coming back from an incredible holiday and she single handedly ruined it for us. They also forced my friend to check his carry on on the way there, lost it and then almost made us miss our connecting flight because our bags had to clear customs with us. BEST line from that wonderful experience was: "OMG, you actually let them check your bags? Next time just say 'no'" Even their staff know how crappy they are! Never again will I spend my hard earned money to be treated as poorly as they treat peoples luggage. read more

a. Booking - Air Canada booking process was pleasant. We did receive a 20% off coupon because one of our previous flights had entertainment system screwed up. Better than an empty apology, I guess. Moreover, Air Canada was more than accommodative during Hurricane Harvey and allowed us to rebook our flights multiple times to avoid Houston area. b. Checkin@Calgary - Horrible experience with Air Canada counters at Calgary airport. The staff was incompetent and rude. Firstly, the online check in process didn't work for us just because we had a visa to be verified, so we couldn't select our seats or get earlier boarding zones. We only had cabin luggage, so we tried checking in at the kiosks; which also didn't let us complete checking, there were attendants there but refused to help and asked us to get in line with check in luggage passengers. There were no separate lines for online checked in/baggage drop off. There was about 45 mins of line for a 7 am flight and staff showed no sense of urgency. Finally we get to a counter and their passport scanner malfunctions, the attendant looked confused, kept asking other attendants on how to operate the screens (typed with 1 finger). When we asked to hurry, she (Karen) tried to blame it on our passports - we have travelled 25+ countries without any issues with the same passports. We stood in line again and went to another agent, who was able to check us in. Turns out, previous agent forgot some key steps to capture our address. Now, the new agent (Carolina) forced us to check in our cabin luggage and charged us $50. That was clearly unfair as all other passengers had equal (if not bigger) luggage. Keep in mind, this was 30min before the flight - so they coerced us to pay without any time to justify or argue. Also, now even loading the luggage onto the belt is a customer responsibility, Air Canada is too cheap to hire a minimum wage porter. We ran to the gate and barely made it to boarding. Of course, there - they were courtesy checking in cabin luggage for all other passengers. When I complained to the gate agent, her response was precisely "Write an email", "I am busy boarding 195 people" & "Whatever". I demand a full refund of my luggage fees ($50). read more

So Calgary to London then connecting to get to Brussels... Well got there early (check) threw security no issue (check) then get to gate only to be told the plane was delayed 4 hours if it leaves, tried to ask what was going on and the agent seemed like it was an annoyance that I had asked, I was told maybe it leaves at 10 maybe it doesn't they'd let me know closer to then. So I asked about connections since I'm clearly missing mine, was told once we were in the air they would be trying to figure that out? So kinda dejected that I wasted an entire vacation day to sit at an airport. Then the final slap In the face a 10.00$ food voucher! Wow ten dollars, a whole 2.50$ per hour compensation!! Conveniently right as every thing was closing! Whoo. Now nearly 5 hours later they put us on the plane, baby's crying everyone mad, I even traded my pillow cause it was coooveeeerred in hair and looked like some one threw up on it! finally get everything started and of course again "maintenance issue" only to sit for another 45 minutes with no information. And turned off the movies and entertainment. Finally arrived in Heathrow had to set it up for my bags to get to Brussels my self. Finally arrive in Brussels 10 hours late! But im just happy to be there! Buuuuuuuut my bags don't show so now just sitting and waiting hoping it shows befor I change city's and have to wear the same clothes for 10 Days! Yay! I do want to give a shout out the crew they scrounged up in Calgary it was really great they came and we were aloud to leave at all I'm very thankful to them. read more

Air Canada charge up to 4 times what Air New Zealand do. On top of this they want to charge extra for checked baggage. They do nothing to justify this, it is simply lack of competition. Very very poor. I would like to sy i would neverfly air Canada again but there isn't too many alternatives. read more

I would like to formally thank Air Canada for screwing me over. Not once, not twice, but continually. Thank you for canceling my direct flight from Cancun to Calgary and turning a 5 hour day into over 12 hours where 9 of those hours were in the air. Thank for rebooking me a double connection though Montreal and then Toronto. Thank you to the ladies at the Air Canada desk who told me I was gonna miss my flight to Montreal and couldn't get me on another flight. Thank you for sending me to the Westjet counter for them to tell me they can't do anything for me without me coughing up $1000 to get on said "new" flight. Thank you Westjet for sending me back to Air Canada only for the guy at the desk to tell me that there was nothing he could do and that I could make the first connecting flight. Thank you Air Canada for giving me a truely horrible experience and for making me have a complete break down. It's been a great night! read more

Wanted to ask help from this lady today that was standing in front of the check in line entrance. She was talking to another employee and the other employee stopped talking to let me ask the lady a question. She just looked at me and kept talking to him. I was almost late to checking in my flight, but I tried not to interrupt her and let her finish. I was waiting for her for almost minute until I finally interrupted her conversation. Good customer service will attend to their customers first than having a conversation with your coworker which could of waited. read more

Decent airline with free new release movies. The earbud connections though can be a bit faulty so sometimes you have to hold the plug in to hear the sound. I must say their pilots sure know how to land a plane though! Some of the best landings I have experienced ever! read more

I don't get it how this company is still doing business... oh yeah they did get a government bailout. Their customer service is non existent. Ofcourse they done allow Google review cause they know they are that bad. I booked a flight wirh my aeroplan points and within minutes called in to change the date, as I realized I need a few more days. The lady had no empathy and said that will be $90. I told her I just booked the flight, and her answer was "that doesn't matter". Now I know why I stopped flying air Canada. Their service is bad, and usually pricier than westjet. read more

It's shocking to me how this airline is voted best in North America?? I fly with AC 4-6 times per week, business class. I'm 100k and it still boggles my mind compared to other carriers. Delays upon delays. I fly yyc-yvr as a commuter and if you try to get to on a yvr flight after 3 pm, you will be delayed 98% of the time. My last 2 flights, Monday and Thursday were delayed a total of 7.5 hours, that's a commuter flight that is only 403 Miles. The problem is they use a toronto flight as the tin and it's ALWAYS LATE!! or there are mechanicals!! The lounge, where the food is marginal at best closed their hot food at 6:30 pm. So edamame, cous cous And salty soup with stale nacho chips, it's disgusting!! Don't waste your money go have a nice meal in the airport, they want $40 to get in. As 100k I'm free but I use the Amex Priority lounge, what better!! Also standing in line last night, the 100k line for 18min while the ticketing agent is ranging around for a pen, priority tags and a stapler, chatting about how nice her holiday is going to be, 20min!! There is no sense of urgency with this company, I would love love love if west jet would get their crap together, get a business class on all their flights and stop trying to be a bargain airline, THEY ARE THE SAME PRICE (with 1-2 dollars) as AC! People in canada don't have a choice of airlines, west jet or ac, westjet, you don't have to cater to a demographic that is looking for a 1$ discount!! The business travel needs you and will use you!
