    Best HVAC experience we've had in 30 years…read more Our upstairs unit stopped cooling and we called another local HVAC company out to look at it. Took their tech just 10 minutes to tell us we were low on freon due to a bad coil and we were looking at $3500 to replace. Guy never used a leak detector he just knew the leak was in the coil. I wanted a 2nd opinion before spending that kind of money so I called J&R based on their 5 star Yelp rating and the things people were saying in their reviews. Joe showed up, immediately took the unit apart, and spent over an hour using a leak detector to try to locate the coolant leak. Couldn't find a leak. He ended up leaving the system pressurized with nitrogen over a weekend only to come back on Monday and find no pressure loss. No leak - no bad coil. The issue was the other guys (who've serviced our units for 2 yrs) had left the valve caps loose on the exterior unit. Joe's diligence and honesty saved us a lot of money and earned him a customer for life. Its really rare nowadays to find someone with this kind of ethics. Joe's a likeable guy, explains what he's doing and why, and isn't out there trying to run up the tab on the repair. You sometimes hear companies saying they'll treat you like family. Joe never said that and its not on their website or their marketing material but that's definitely how I felt I was treated - like family.

The price I was quoted was over 12k. I felt the electrician on my job, Jason S. was very high pressure in his tactics and told me I needed to decide that day, or lose potential discounts. I had also been without a kitchen for over 30 days, so I agreed to the work. The next day Jason and an apprentice come out to start the job. They take one whole day to remove and replace the new panel, no problem. Here is where it goes downhill. On the second day of work, Jason and another apprentice came out and instead of prioritizing the circuit I hired him for, they start installing the hardwired smoke detectors Dekalb county allegedly requires. This took all day! By about 4 pm, I asked if he was going to get the outlet done so I could use my dishwasher and he replied "I guess if I stay here all night". I said I guess thats what you got to do then, and they were here til nearly 8 pm. Then he made several other unprofessional comments about staying late. Jason never came back to my job. A new Electrician came out on Monday, Jason said he had an emergency job. The part where they earned this rating comes when I found out my pool motor circuit was not working on the new GFCI circuit. I explained to them it originally was on a two pole circuit and now they had it on two single poles. It was drawing 240v and they had the model number and should have researched the wiring on their own as professionals. Rather than listen to me, I had to wait all day for the new electrician (with Jason on the phone) come up with a new quote to fix which included trenching up and re-wiring my entire pool, ANOTHER 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS! I was livid. I started looking into this and it turns out I was right, it just needed a 2 pole GFCI. I talked to the second electrician the next day and told him I want to talk to a supervisor or manager. I got a call later in the day from Jeffrey who was going to look into it and get back to me the same day. He did not. He did call me the next morning and agreed to send one of his best guys out to install a 2 pole and see if that solves the problem. Well guess what, it did! And, I didn't have to pay another 5K. I expected to hear back from Jeffrey again to ensure the job was to my satisfaction as you should on a service recovery. I did not. I feel lied to, and that I was robbed and almost taken needlessly for thousands more, had I not done my research which should not be necessary as a layperson. I understand from TE employees the Electricians control the cost, and they get a commission from it. Unfortunately, I paid for an electricians summer vacation because I trusted him. Luis L and Nathan the electricians at TE, thank you! Micah, Gavin, Phillip the apprentices, thank you too! Jeffrey I thank you for doing the minimum by ensuring what I paid for was completed. Jason, no thank you at all. You've sowed distrust in professionals and your industry with your practices.

Absolute life saver...after seeing so many glowing reviews (whenever you see 4.9…read morestars and over 50 reviews you know someone is doing something right) I immediately reached out to Rohan after our HVAC heat stopped working on the coldest day of the year (so far!). It was after 5pm, and within a short time Rohan called me back that night and set up something that next day. I so appreciated that because not everyone returns calls after hours, and we (well I) was panicked. It's an old system and thus had multiple problems that Rohan diagnosed, one by one. Each time he did he called me downstairs so I could see what was going on. Not only did it build trust (which he didn't need to do - I could feel from the get go his trustworthiness) but it helped me to understand and learn. All of this troubleshooting required multiple trips and additional parts needed (some where he didn't leave until 9:45pm, one on a Sunday - his off day where he insisted on coming). It also required work arounds for an old system, and finding parts (who knew a Trane doesn't use universal parts?!). But all along he kept a really good attitude, and always went the extra mile. We got a new thermostat and he opened it up to make sure the wires were all put on correctly (when he didn't have to) as just one example. He cleaned everything out - coils, etc. as well. He just deeply cares about his work and clients. He even checked in later that night once things were all finally fixed to make sure all was still good. When you have a problem that you know nothing about you have to rely on others. You hope they know what they're doing, are really good at it, and are truly looking out for you. Home warranty was an option but you know you always get scheduled with the worst of the worst, and they couldn't schedule me in for a few days.. I checked up some reviews on Yelp and HVAC Guys showed up as the only 5 star reviewed provider. Curious I checked other platforms and all had glowing reviews, so I messaged the business on Yelp, and got a response almost immediately. It took me a bit to respond to him, given the chaotic household on a Saturday evening but I was made aware that there is an emergency service fee and the repair charges to fix! Rohan was on his way around 7pm! Rohan has a good demeanor and very personable. He got to work immediately and diagnosed the problem (capacitor). Within 20 mins I had my HVAC working again. He gave him quite a few pieces of relevant information about my HVAC and even cleaned the coils outside to make sure everything was tip top! The total charge was reasonable - please don't compare these with DIY costs as HVACs need some level of knowledge and expertise. They accept all forms of payment but Venmo/Zelle make it super easy to pay for the services. Highly recommended. They also offer maintenance, which is top on my list prior to me turning my heat on.

In addition, both of my upstairs units stopped cooling. With the Georgia heat, I was very concerned about how long it would take to get everything repaired. The technician, Max, arrived promptly and was friendly, professional, and respectful of my home. He took the time to thoroughly inspect the system, explain the problem in terms I could understand, and answer all of my questions. What impressed me most was the honesty and professionalism shown by both Jamar, the owner, and Max throughout the entire process. There was no pressure, no unnecessary upselling, and the repair was completed quickly and correctly. Before leaving, Max made sure everything was working properly and that my home was cooling comfortably again. It's hard to find companies that genuinely care about their customers, but AllStars Heating & Air exceeded my expectations. I am extremely grateful for their excellent service and would not hesitate to use them again. I will also gladly recommend them to my family, friends, and neighbors. (Did Nothing) Came out a second time because my house was 78 degrees.. turned AC on and hot air was blowing which caused temp to rise to 80 degrees. Repairman came out and gave me Freon ($200+) which was fine as long as my AC was working. **Privately suggested I use him on the side for any side work with the unit** After Freon was filled, it blew cooler air that day. But of course the weather changed and I didn't need it anymore for weeks, so I shut AC off and used my space heater for just my master bedroom. A month later the weather changed so I decided to turn my AC back on, HOT AIR flowed once again. Called American Freedom again, and was told that the Repairman that I had no longer worked therm smh. Booked an appointment and got a text message that my Repairman was on the way around 11am when my appointment was scheduled for 2pm... so I figured maybe his other appointments cancelled so I thought "cool I'll hang around" LOL waited a hour and called... they told me he hit the accept job by mistake. (Rookie mistake)- waited for my 2 pm appointment which was 2-4 at 4:20pm no one showed and never even got an apology for it either. At this point they're very unreliable and I feel not experienced. It's weird because my mom used them for over 10 years and swore they were the best.
