When I first started coming to the nail salon, I liked that they took care of my nails and were concerned about the health. However, since the last three appointments have not been what I've asked for I made this appointment because I wanted to try an ombre and I had to wait a month to get this appointment for the nail tech not understand or be able to do the ombre as I was requesting. I had pictures so they could visually see what I was asking for And on top of having to go back and forth about what I was requesting, she used a drill on my my natural nails instead of filing them or cutting them then she drilled them down further under the gel application of my nail and I don't know if they're going to break or even grow back the same. They're perfect every single time! I constantly get compliments on my nails, and people are always shocked to learn they're my natural nails. I am in town from Austin for Valentine's Day and needed to run an errand just south of Frisco. I also needed to get a gel pedicure, so I found AIA close to my errand. Upon walking in, I noticed it seemed very clean, so that was good. They offered coffee, tea, chocolates, etc, and all seemed to be going fine. Then, she walked me back to the pedicure chairs and to my horror there were no bowls/massage chairs, like I'm used to. The chairs were more like dental chairs. My nail technician didn't speak much English but seemed sweet and eager, so I just decided to sit back and try to relax. Who knows? Maybe this would be the best pedi ever! One thing I noticed right off the bat was that it was incredibly slow and meticulous. Which I hoped was a good thing! They tell you on the website that the gel pedicures are 135 minutes. I was hoping that meant more of a spa experience with a massage. She checked in with me from time to time to make sure I was not experiencing pain since she was using an electronic file. After one hour she was still filing/buffing my nails. They don't use the wet dipped cotton balls with the foil method to chemically melt off the previous gel polish from my last pedi 2 weeks ago. They literally grind/sand/file/buff it off and smooth your naked nail...ONE HOUR! (She also worked on my cuticles during that time). After about an hour she brushed off my toes with a soft bristle brush, soaped them up with foam soap and wiped them off with a wipe, cuz like I said...no bowl. Super strange, but I'm still hopeful. Idk how she's going to do my heels, though. At that point, I'm starting to miss the massage chair because I'm getting uncomfortable and stiff. At this point, she raises my chair super high, asks me to scoot down like a gynecologist would and starts filing the bottom of my feet with the electronic buffer! I'm now I'm in a SUPER unnatural position and not relaxed at all. But, maybe all the tickling from this buffer is going to make my feet feel super soft? Yeah, no. This was just strange and not relaxing at all. My back hurt and i was all tensed up and twitching because of the ticklish grinder thing she used on my heels that sounded eerily like a dental drill. I wanted to leave at that point, but she hadn't even started painting my nails at 1.5 hours in! After that she put lotion on my feet and buffed them out even more, then added oil. I'm sure they're very soft! At 1.75 hours in, the polishing started, hallelujah! The horrific medical chairs were even WORSE when it came time to polish. You're in a totally uncomfortable position which 2 hours in was more than slightly irritating. I started to sweat and regret wasting all that time to be the opposite of pampered and relaxed. Even if this pedicure was STUNNING, I'd never come back. I'm physically sore from the odd positioning and my toes look no better than my regular place at my regular price...oh, did I mention this torture session costs $95? I did tip my nail tech, tho, ($117 was the total) because she was sweet, did her best, and all clients in the chairs at the same time with me had the same procedure, so she was obviously trained to do this exactly this way. Had a Russian manicure today. Needed help because my nails are degraded from dipping powders. Nail beds are short, thin and weak. Cuticles are dry, cracked and long. Embarrassed to show my hands. I saw Yana. She explained what she was going to do, and advised how to get my nails back to a healthy state. She was absolutely meticulous in treating my cuticles and making my nails healthy and looking pretty. She was gentle and kind. It was a transformation. I could not be more pleased. I had my very first Russian manicure (ever) a few weeks ago. I was pretty nervous because it had been years since I had a professional manicure, let alone a specialized one. My hands looked horrible. I would like to thank Nastia, my nail master. I went to her with thin, rough textured and peeling nails. I had given up awhile ago on having smooth and healthy nail beds. They are always scratchy feeling. I don't know what magic she had but when she was done, my nail beds were so smooth, my cuticle area and sides of my fingers were picture perfect- like what you see in magazines. Nails have never looked better! They are so detail oriented and everyone in the salon is so nice!

I am familiar with dry Smart style manicure for the past as long as it exists- about 7 years for me. It does not use any water bath to soak your hands and feet but special mechanical tiny drills to clean cuticles and calluses. The manicure will last at least 4 weeks and pedicure can stay up to 2 months but I would recommend it every 4-6 weeks as nails grow out. Every process is very meticulous to assure that the manicure and pedicure end result looks perfect and lasts without needing touch up till next scheduled appointment. Actual gel polish is also a bit time consuming as the gel application needs special technique to lay it out on your nail bed and creat a beautiful nail shape making sure it does not leak into the cuticle but goes on as close into the cuticle as possible so that a week later or two when nails grow out you can't even see the subtleness of nail polish moving away from the cuticle keeping your manicure and pedicure looking fresh as if you just had it done. The techs here at AIA as well as the owner Indira are amazing well trained and very experienced. I have been to many different smart style manicure techs when lived in New York( and believe me there were many) and when I moved to North Dallas area 1.5 years ago I have been searching for the perfect dry manicure and pedicure. Gently done here at AIA and lasts a long time. Finally!! My daughter and I love AIA SALON and will be coming back for as long as they are here. Thank you AIA Salon! FYI to those who are used to old fashioned chinese salons with little attention of cleaning your cuticles or using high quality polishing products, but distracting you with an old massaging chair and a dirty foot bath and scrub-this place may not be what you are looking for. However you should give it a chance if you want to be forwarded into the XXI CENTURY of gel manicure. It is also pricier as the time it takes to do the work is not 30 minutes of carressing your fingers and toes making believe you are getting the quality work done, as well as the materials and polishes used are high quality gels, not cheap gel imitation polish that also uses UV lught to dry and oeels off inna week. I just had my first pedicure here and let me tell you, you need this salon in your life. As an Eastern European myself, I sadly had a hard time finding the same quality nail services like in Europe. I was always frustrated with the fact that most regular US salons do not appropriately cut cuticles and shape the nail for beautiful healthy nails. Eastern Europeans are trained right! The pedicure here is a very special technique (google Smart Pedicure or Russian pedicure). There is zero pain or discomfort involved and your cuticles and skin are buffed to perfection! The detailed work they do here is impressive and worth every dollar.
