I've had poke bowls before and I was waiting for this to open since it's close to home. I tried it for the first time today and let's just say it was mediocre. First off they only give you two size options (regular and large) and the regular is too small but the large is too big. The place I usually go to offers small, medium, and large. Second, I paid $11 for a small bowl that was just okay. I got white rice with spicy tuna and Kimchi Shrimp. The spicy tuna has a nice kick but the shrimp didn't taste like much at all. I also added avocado which was $1.50 extra. The crab salad was just that, a salad so it was mixed with stuff and didn't have much flavor. Also, I was the only person in line and I felt so rushed. The employees didn't ask if I had been there before or how much of each I can have. The customer service wasn't very great. I felt like I was being rushed out and I didn't really get to look at all my options. Lastly, the don't mix your sauce with your mix ins, rather just pour it on top. It wasn't horrible, it was just okay. And if I'm going to be paying a lot for a small portion it better be good. If you haven't tried Poke Bar in Deer Valley, then you wouldn't understand this review. The food is way fresher there, you actually get pieces of avocado for cheaper ($1.00) rather then a scoop of mushed avocado, they actually have crab meat (not a salad) that is sooo fresh, they separate the cold shrimp from the rice until it's mixed in with your choice of sauces and sides, they're friendlier, and you can choose a size medium and get your monies worth. read more

I've been to about 4 of these Ahipoki spots and I'm impressed with the consistency of these spots for the most part. The flavors of their sauces are on point and the fish are always fresh. I do have to say the rice game of this location is not as great as the others. I always get half rice and salad with onions with regular tuna and salmon in the house spicy sauce. The flavors are atomically good. What I like about going to this spot compared to the Downtown, Scottsdale, or Tempe location is that it is never packed. I have had ahi poki in Hawaii and I loved it. With that said, I was a little apprehensive before coming, seeing as I live in the desert. First off, this place is super clean and the climate control feels perfect; not too cold and not too warm. They have a nice music selection and a very trendy-looking place. The staff were incredibly helpful, offering their opinions on particular dishes and helping me get started. I chose the large bowl, with half salad/half rice option, salmon, tuna, and spicy salmon. I topped it off with the house spicy sauce and let me tell you, this was nothing short of incredible and surpassed my Hawaii experience. A large bowl and a Thai tea run about $17 (You can save $3 by getting water), which is a little steep, but the food is healthy and delicious. You could also save money by joining their online club and accumulating points toward free stuff. Overall the experience was extremely pleasant and now I'm on my 3rd visit here. It's safe to say that I am hooked. I definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

Nice place for a healthy meal Tonight, we decided to add a little "healthy" to the night of gluttony, so we decided to grab a wuick bite to eat at Ahopoki Bowl. Ahopoki has a "chipotle" like feel, meaning you walk along the line and tell them how you would like your bowl made. Tried the octopus, salmon, and tuna- good portions, but some of the pieces were chewy (mediocre cuts). Not a huge range of toppings and they up-charge for avo typical, as well as masago, crab salad, and seaweed salad. So really, not many options included for the basic price. The house sauce is not what I expected- a sweet teriyaki flavor that I wasn't loving. Should've tasted first. The staff, though, is fantastic. Just moved to the area and have been trying out poke places. I definitely will not come back to this one. When I asked the employee to do my bowl original poke style - which means not mixing it and just making piles of each item on top of my base he had no clue what I meant, and it was quite a confusing time for us both before he finally understood. They don't have a near as many toppings that most poke places offer, and they use the smallest spoon I have ever seen to give you the toppings. It literally looked like they were using measuring spoons and, I don't even think I got a teaspoon of each thing that I asked for. For edamame I think I got 5 beans. Um, really?! They also didn't have spicy shrimp and crab salad that most places offer so I ended up having to do a double scoop of spicy tuna because those are the only two that I usually get in my bowls. They were nice there and the place looked nice but for what they offer it seems it's not an authentic Poke place by any means. I stopped in here to grab a poke bowl it was my first time here. They greeted me at the counter and the guy was so helpful in explaining to me how it worked. I got half brown rice and half salad, yellow fin tuna and spicy tuna, I got everything light on the onion and the guy was so nice and helpful he let me taste the sauces and suggested mixing creamy spicy with the house sauce and yummy!! I just visited this Ahipoke in Avondale and ordered a regular salad and when the worker was mixing it she gasped and jumped back about 3 ft., I asked what was wrong and she just pointed. Her superior walked up and pulled out a 2- inch black beetle with the legs moving. I told her I didn't want the salad and she got upset with me. I told she needed to through it out. She wanted to salvage part of it but I told her no and to give me a rice bowl instead. Then she walked to the garbage can and slammed it in there. I was shocked by her behavior. Then to make matters worse she got a new bag of lettuce and poured it on top of the contaminated lettuce instead of getting a clean container for the newly opened bag and tossing the lettuce that had the beetle in it. Amazing food! It is a little pricy but it is worth it. If I could I would eat here every day. I love to get the half salad half rice option. I always get the house sauce on my salad and I don't know what it is but it tastes awesome. I get a side of the creamy spicy and garlic mixed together to put over my rice and tuna and love it. The seafood is always unbelievably fresh and they have different specials each month (blazing salmon will burn your mouth it's so hot but amazing!!) and they load up your boxes with a lot of ingredients so it's well worth the $12 price for a large. You can't go wrong with your selections. I usually get the spicy tuna, salmon, and ahi tuna with half brown rice and half greens. I love the hot spicy and hot creamy sauces mixed and to top it off I get the cucumbers, seaweed salad, edamame, and fried onions. I rarely give five stars, but Ahi is the best seafood salad in Phoenix, hands down. The place is clean and spotless. The food is fresh and delicious with flavors that challenge your palate. Staff are all friendly and courteous. I could eat here every day and never get tired of it. My only peeve...they should serve your salads in the big stainless bowls they make them in when you dine in, instead of transferring immediately into plastic, less impact on landfills, and would save them a lot of money. An amazing array of options, generous portions, great price. The staff, two very sweet girls, were cheerful, kind helpful and knowledgeable. Great selection of the standard and spicy options for the fish... I highly recommend the shrimp, much larger than other poke spots. All of the ingredients were very fresh and placed with ninja skill into the bowl. I especially liked the jalapeño (pickled but still crunchy). Since I was in the area working during lunchtime I hit up Yelp and found Ahipoki. I love poke and have eaten a lot of it in So Cal and Hawaii so believe me when I say this place is really good! I had the ahi tuna bowl over brown rice with the house spicy sauce. The fish was fresh and the sauce was just the right amount of flavor and spice for my taste. Their service was great! I have been to a couple of these places before in California and for whatever reason didn't want to try the one out here! Well, we did and it was good! Being I don't eat meat though, not really the place to go for me. But, I tried some of my husband/s who had fish and it was very tasty! The different sauces were great and I loved the bright colored veggies and also the freshness of it all! The best part about this experience however was that the people working were so wonderful about explaining everything, giving suggestions, not being pushy and being patient! I debated between 2/3 stars here but I had a good experience in the past so I went with 3. I ordered a bowl and on top of being TINY there were barely any toppings inside, the only thing they put a lot of is chili flakes. The bowl was tiny and I could barely eat because of all the chili flakes. The toppings I requested were not all in there. The fish was separate and the juices were all over. Sauces were okay but the chili flakes took over. It was 13.00 before delivery fees. Extremely disappointed. I have eaten here a while back and it was much better, maybe you have to go inside? I wish I had read the reviews about delivery. Now I am hungry and out $17.00 read more
