It was a very pleasant experience for me. I had a facial with ashley. Ashley was great, super friendly, engaging and had the most gentle hands. She took care of me and my face and made sure i was comfortable throughout the service. The facial was excellent. They use high quality (and expensive) products and they smell so good. My face feels really refreshed and i feel great. The place itself (from the waiting area to the washroom to the treatment room) is cozy, relaxing and super clean. Spotless. It felt like as if i am in a high end hotel spa. It is definitely worth it and will definitely be back again soon. It was my first experience doing a day spa package and I really enjoyed my time here. The staff is friendly and this place is super clean. The spa is very beautiful inside too. I tend to steer clear from most spas because they are always pricier than they need to be. The prices here are very reasonable. You won't break your bank just to get a pedicure. I've seen places charge $88 for a pedicure and the stuff they do is no different than everywhere else! I also recommend Amanda for a pedi. The meal included in my package was delicious! I was quite surprised and impressed. I was expecting a cheap left over microwaved dinner from the previous week. My food was freshly made. I had skinless chicken thigh with some spicy maple fresh pineapple/mango sauce, honey beets/ other veggies and rice. For dessert I had a delicious slice of red velvet cake! The portions are quite generous so come on an empty stomach. The person I had for the first part of my treatment was thorough and explained what was happening in each room so that was nice. They also did a good job sticking to a timeline and organized. Everything flowed and there were no lull periods of time. Soon as I was done one service my aesthetician was waiting to direct me to the next. They also had dinner ready to go on the table when I was done my massage. The only thing was for my massage the therapist only focused on my upper body when I had requested a full body. It didn't bug me too much because I got a pedi but it would've been nice to have a full body massage. I was left with a really nice bouquet of flowers and some mini products as a spa gift. It was a lovely touch. If you're looking to book a few services at once or do a package definitely come here. You will be saving a lot more money than if you were to go elsewhere. Hopefully this spa continues to keep their prices affordable. I have already told many of my friends about this place and they will be booking. I will be back again too. read more

If you feel like treating yourself to a spa day, but don't want to be gauged when you pay, this is the place to go! The staff here are extremely friendly, and booking was very easy (although if you want a Saturday, book well in advance). The spa is located inside the Coast Plaza hotel on the second floor. There's plenty of parking around, including the hotel parkade. After a warm greeting, I was given sandals, and taken into the waiting room. I went with the "Body, Mind, & Soul" package. Facial, pedicure, and manicure. It's a 3 - 3.5 hour service, with lunch included. My manicure and pedicure look fantastic, and they have an abundance of colours to choose from. My facial was very soothing and refreshing. And the lunch was delicious! It was an entire meal with dessert, from the hotel. This spa package was $175, which is an amazing price. I do have two minor critiques... and I really do mean minor... the pedicure chair was pretty uncomfortable for me. My butt and back were starting to get sore. And the other thing... I've been to spas before where you are given a robe for your treatment, and I always enjoy that. Spending 3.5 hours here, it would've been a nice touch to be given a robe from the get go. But these are minor, and I'd happily forgo these items to keep the price point they have for their services. read more

I was last here on July 28th for my first-ever wrap, the Sun Soother wrap, which was absolutely dreamy. Trust me; you will love it! My skin was baby-skin soft, and I smelled so good. Below is exactly what I had done. Sun Soother Wrap Get your skin summer smooth with this sweetly scented Pear & Green Apple Sugar Scrub. Infused with antioxidant-rich pear, green tea and sunflower oil, exfoliating raw sugar cane and sweet almond oil, your skin and senses will overflow with hydration; replenishing the moisture lost from the hot summer sun. Wrapped in the warmth and healing benefits of this wrap, a scalp massage, as well as a foot massage will help to ease any stress and tension from your body. A warm shower rinse and a lotion application will carry you away on a blissful journey....and that is a sunny wrap! Allow 1 hour Nancy, who I have had before for other services, is very calming, friendly, and competent. She has a lovely laugh as well. Since I hadn't ever had a wrap before, she explained each step of each procedure. She really knows how to make you feel completely relaxed and comfortable. Prices here are very reasonable. I find most of their services are well below other spas. Waxing prices, for example, are just fantastic. Ahava charges just $48 for a full leg wax compared to Carrie's charging $80 (and that is FROM $80) and Spasation charging $80. I've had this service done by Nancy several times, and always, it has been done competently and professionally. The decor is lovely. They sell a variety of top of the line products, and everyone is super knowledgeable about their products. They are never pushy with selling you anything. They have a cozy waiting area, which always has a variety of snacks and beverages to choose from. For your facials, massages, etc., the rooms are always dimmed out, relaxing music is played. I love their inspiring wall plaques that have inspiring life messages. The customer service is absoluetely stellar. It can't get better. Everyone here knows how to make you feel special and spoiled and utterly pampered. Kathy, Nancy, Deena, and Veronica are the wonderful and gracious ladies I deal with most often, and I highly recommend any one of them. Well, I believe Kathy is the owner, so she doesn't actually perform any of the services, but she is usually at the front, and she is always quite welcoming and interesting to chat with. This spa is located on the 2nd floor of The Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel, which is just off Jasper and on 105 street. For me, quite convenient as I work downtown. What better way to end a work day than with a facial or some other lovely relaxing treatment? I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel good. read more

I went to Ahava for a 90 minute spring pedicure special (spa pedicure + paraffin) and it was fantastic. My friend and I had a private room for our pedicures, and the ambiance and service were fantastic. My feet were completely transformed! Plus, they were happy to redo a couple of nails for me the next day when I discovered smudges upon arriving home. Everything about the experience was just lovely. read more

Where to start...I have been going to Ahava Day Spa for 5 years consecutively. This review is long over due. As I enjoyed them for 5 years the majority of the employees are very helpful & friendly. I've even gotten to know the owner quite well as she remembers me. I would always go for their spa packages & of course it includes the massage portion also. My fiancé had paid in advance for my birthday and tipped then a large amount to ensure I had a great time and I did...MINUS the massage portion. I was face down & the lady was wearing DAWG shoe slippers and her feet stunk BAD. She was doing my shoulders & I had to hold my breathe. She gave a horrible massage & barely put any pressure. Fine. I told the receptionist at the time and she apologized for it and refunded the massage portion. I told them I had no problem with everyone else. Pedicure lady is very nice. A month later I decided to book another spa package but requested someone else for the massage portion and again the massage portion has horrible. Putting force in my lower spine is a nono as I am an RMT myself I know what's right or wrong. I spoke to the owner this time and she decided to flip the table on me. I was shocked as we have built a great relationship for 5 years. She told me to find elsewhere to go as I have too many complaints. I explained that I had no problem with the spa just the massage therapist. I said forget it. She did already make over $5,000+ from me or more over the 5 years. So who cares right? I hope she doesn't do it to anyone else as that is plain out right rude. read more

I had a mud wrap done and then a massage and then I was served an amazing steak and potatoes lunch with a beautiful chocolate cake for dessert, after my lunch I got a great pedicure and a super relaxing facial. The Ahava Day Spa at The Coast Edmonton Plaza has got to be one of Edmonton's best kept secrets. I have visited this spa several times over the past seven years, and have yet to be disappointed. Spa services I have received include pedicure, manicure, massage and body scrub. THE STAFF: In one word: lovely. I have yet to meet an esthetician or massage therapist who was anything less than pleasant and proud of their work. No pretense or fakery here - the women are different shapes, personalities and styles, but every single one I have met is genuine, and very good at what they do. THE SERVICE: Every service I have ever received was spot on, completed professionally and with outstanding results. The prices are very reasonable, especially given that the hotel is situated in downtown Edmonton. I travel frequently, and have found downtown/hotel spa prices in other major cities to be exorbitant. The Ahava Day Spa is an exception to this rule. THE AMBIENCE: Cozy, relaxed and comfortable. The treatment rooms are a calming and dark, with lovely ambient lighting. The waiting room has a selection of reading material, snacks and beverages. If you are looking for a spartan, single palette, "volcanic rock and bamboo" spa ambience - this is not it (but then again, if you want to pay $100 for a 60 minute massage, you can find your waiting room ambience somewhere else!) I have received spa services at other "upscale" Edmonton spas, including Eveline Charles and RAIN. However, the authenticity of the owner and the staff, the lack of pretense, the prices and the quality of services rendered at The Ahava Day Spa have turned me into a loyal client. The ONLY reason The Ahava Day Spa does not get a 5 star rating from me is because by my standards, 5 stars is pure perfection. I don't anticipate ever awarding 5 stars to a business, but in my humble opinion, The Ahava Day Spa is about as good as it gets. read more

I went today for the head to toe package. Treatments were excellent, particularly because of the staff. Front desk ladies and estheticians are exceptional. My RMT was not good, I am surprised she was registered, but I really don't go to a day spa for a massage, it was just part of the page so I wasn't concerned. She was just young and very inexperienced. Otherwise, everything was incredible for the price. They even served me a full lunch that came up from the hotel dining room, ribs, rice and grilled vegetables, which was a bit strange after a spa day, you kind of expect something light, however, I told them about my gluten issue, so they were likely attempting to work around it. And in any event I enjoy protein and I was starving! So I ate the huge portion of very tasty ribs, left the rest and then for dessert they brought a beautiful fresh fruit plate!! All in a private room with a flowered cloth tablecloth and napkin! And when I left I was given beautiful flowers and a lovely gift bag of miniature spa products! You can't beat that! They take their customer service serious! I will spa nowhere else! And they use my favourite Emmenence products! read more

I went here because I got a gift certificate over Christmas. I ended up going for the 60 minute massage and a spa manicure. First, the atmosphere is super casual and not terribly professional, which is okay, but this lack of professionalism held true throughout my experience. I got my manicure first, which to be honest was good. The woman doing it was very personable, but the job she did I would only call "decent". The top coat wasn't put on evenly, missing huge margins on a lot of my nails. I'm on day 2 after the manicure and it's already chipping... not ideal for $45. My biggest issue was with my massage. I had a young lady who was very unfriendly, cold, and overall made for a weird vibe in the room. And that's probably the best part of the experience. First, her technique was AWFUL. She literally did the same thing over and over and over and over...... to the point where I had to ask her to stop. Second, I mentioned that I wanted a full body massage with some focus on shoulders/neck/scalp (this is where I hold most of my tension). She chose to spend literally 2 minutes on each of my calves, 1 minute on each side of my low back, and then like 20 minutes on each shoulder. Next, she had zero clue regarding the anatomy of neck muscles, because she missed every single one. It was honestly as though she was brand new and very tentative, or just plain didn't know what she was doing. Then the cherry on top: the scalp massage. It took all my self control to not BURST OUT LAUGHING!! She help my head in one hand... and proceeded to gently caress my hair back for a total of 30 seconds. SOOOO AWKWARD!! Throughout the massage I asked her to switch up the pressure a couple times and she seemed cheesed about that too. To add insult to injury, leaving this massage experience I was honestly less than happy. The desk clerk asked how things went while I was paying, and I couldn't help but ask if this girl was new. The clerk's response was "oh no she's been here a long time". I was shocked. I told the clerk how poor her technique was, how she missed so many major muscles in the areas I had asked to be done, and how tentative she was in general. The clerk's only response was "*giggle* oh well maybe she's having an off night". Um.... I'm sorry but that's a really expensive hour (though I know this place is on the cheaper end) and a bad night is not an excuse to not do your job. Will never be coming back, and will definitely be telling others to avoid this place. read more

I made the appointment the day before. I had a Dr's appointment the morning and was schedule for the spa in the evening. I left the Dr's office upset, scared and beside myself, I had to call via rail first to cancel my ticket and all other services that I put in place. I was not moving to BC after all, at least not now. My head started to hurt but this pill of life is yet so bitter I was the only one who could swallow it. I called the spa to explain that I would like to reschedule, big mistake! I was met with hostility and unprofessionalism. So at the request of the woman on the end of the line with the husky voice. I cancelled the gift certificate completely. I was in no mood to beg or give my diagnosis that I had earlier receive. I will however let my friends, associates, parents, colleagues and everyone I know, NOT to use your services. read more

As a spa package first timer, I was really really happy! I got the sensational soother package & added a mini facial. The price was very reasonable, and using a spa wish groupon made it that much better. The staff made me feel very welcome upon walking in the door. The atmosphere throughout the spa was very calming & had nice decor. All treatments were wonderful (especially the facial & my gal provided me with lots of good skin care advice), but I have had better massages. I could have asked the masseuse to adjust the pressure but I was half asleep through most of it. The lunch provided was a really nice beef stew & rice (very flavorful) & a red velvet cake. All day long, I was brought lemon water & made to feel very special throughout the whole day. I will be back for sure. read more
