Lots of them are budget shops but I do think that is the same in most of the Shopping centres in Middlesbrough. Captian Cook square is a thriving busy shopping centre. During Christmas season it has hosted a lovely continental market. Here you will find Waterstones, Zavvi, Tk Max, Poundstretcher, the sony shop, Tj Hughues and not forgetting Greggs!! These are a few of the retailers you will find in the Square. Captain Cook square is very easy to locate and links up with the major shops in central Middlesbrough.

Hmm, not so much of a square as an odd shaped street. To be honest really if you're visiting the…read morearea and stumble across this Square (which you will because it's the easiest thing to find ever, just find Boots on the main high street then turn round and tada) you'll find it's not really a square and more an extension of the main high street. Anyway it's an ok little place. There's Gregs, Internacionale, Waterstones, TKMaxx, Alliance&Leicester, Greggs, JJB, a Boro shop, Zavvi and then some discount shops like Wilkinsons. There are also a few music and game shops. Llloyds and Yates are round here too as well as the bus station. It's freezing cold because the wind blows right through it and theres also a carpark nearby though I remain baffled by how to get to it. Generally it's worth looking round because there are some good shops here that aren't anywhere else in town. But other than that it's not too exciting.

This store is always busy and, for some strange reason, people always like to stand right in the doorway! As it's busy, it can get quite untidy inside so watch out for items on the floor which you could trip over. There are sometimes short queues at the tills but you're never there for too long. The till staff always seem cheerful and friendly which is unusual for a pound shop! And there are sometimes discounted items that are near there sell-by date on the till that they will offer you.

Its got loads of stuff, made up of a balance of things are much more than £1 elsewhere, and some that aren't worth anything really. Has a small selection of dvd's, but have yet to find any that I have actually heard of. For things like toiletries, food a drink, its usually pretty good, you've just got to find the best deals. Service is what you can expect from such a cheap shop, nothing special but you usually don't have to wait long. Make sure if you're not going to spend more than a fiver that you have cash, as they do not allow card sales under a fiver. Overall, a great place to get good deals as long as you know whats cheap and whats not.

Parkway Shopping Centre is a great little shopping centre if you know what's there. I mean, ok,…read moreit's not as good as a main town centre, but it does have a lot to offer. It's all indoors for one thing, so no problems with wind and rain! They have free parking, in a number of car parks dotted at different points around the outside of the centre - but they are invariably full! I tend to park in the Tesco car park at the far end, as it seems to have a bit more space than the others. At one end we have the Rainbow Leisure Centre, which is great for swimming, badminton, etc. At the other end we have a massive new Tesco, split over two floors. In between there are loads of other shops, like Priceless Shoes, Iceland, Superdrug, a pet shop (sorry the name escapes me for the moment), a card shop, a florist, a Chinese restaurant/takeaway, a chemist, a bakers, a post office, a couple of good general shops - Home Bargains, and Instore, which sell all kinds of things like kitchenware, bedding household items, and toys, all at bargain prices. Also Peacocks, the clothing store. Outside, there are a few extras, but I don't tend to go outside much! There's a pizza takeaway place, there's a branch of Punch Robson solicitor's, and there's a Dentist's surgery. I used to think this place was really grotty - but now I've got over that and just see it as a great place to grab a bargain!

There's 3 carparks all free and very big, though beware the Tesco carpark, it's a nightmare to get in and out, it has sharp corners and people often reverse out without looking. At one end is the rainbow leisure centre. There's also Whites Cafe at this end. Then there's Home Bargains, Greggs, instore, in shops, a shoe shop, some card shops, a pet shop a fruit stall, few second hand shops and then the Tesco. Theres a flower stand near the sports centre that has nice flowers. I would recommend checking out the inshops as it's quite cheap and you can find quite a few bargains in here - there's also a framing service here that's quick. There are a few security guards as well about. Oh and post office but the queues there get really long. I always find I need to keep alert here, there are some annoying youths hanging about and quite a lot of pushchairs and trolleys, but it's a good convenience place.
