Agave provides front lawn service through our HOA. The contract is fairly new, and I thought no company could be worse than the previous company. Agave proved me wrong. Unfortunately, we're forced to continue service with them due to the HOA situation. They have left numerous ruts in our yard. They trampled my Mistflower while pruning shrubs. They have repeatedly mowed over the blooms of my red yucca. They also mowed over a salvia. They have now butchered my sage twice. The HOA claims to have told them to leave it alone, but I put up a "do not trim" sign just to be safe. None of that helped. Someone came to my house to apologize for trampling my plants, but the apology is meaningless if they aren't going to improve their service. We were going to add in additional plant beds this fall, but it's not worth it to spend money on plants that Agave will just destroy. If you have native plants, I would definitely avoid Agave. Even if you have just basic turf grass, be prepared for deep ruts and uneven cuts. read more

There are certainly things to like about Agave. One of their managers, Mas Owen, is knowledgeable about plants and has a good eye for design. He also provides digital renditions so you can visualize what your yard could look like--if everything goes ideally. The key phrase there, unfortunately, is "if everything goes ideally." I signed a one-year contract for "full" front-yard maintenance at about $500 a month. That's not cheap, but I was willing to pay for comprehensive service because my wife and I both love the look of a well-kept yard, even though we lack the time and expertise to maintain one ourselves. You can probably guess where this is going: the experience didn't live up to the promise. We often had to chase Mas and his team to follow through on even basic commitments, such as installing new flowering plants specified in the contract. This became a routine--roughly twice a month. When we called to check in, we'd usually hear excuses like "the plants are back ordered." To make matters worse, Agave's internal communication is fragmented. You don't get a single point of contact--you get several. One person handles tree and shrub treatments, another deals with the irrigation system, a third manages billing, and sometimes a fourth shows up for "general maintenance." It's up to you to coordinate among them, follow up on loose ends, and ensure that everyone's on the same page. For a company that charges premium rates, that lack of organization is both surprising and frustrating. The final straw came when the finished yard looked nothing like the renditions. When I brought this up, Amy (one of several Agave staffers) said, "Well, the renditions are how things look when everything goes ideally--things may not." I wish I had responded, "Well, I pay $500 a month if things go ideally--things may not." Another major frustration was Agave's relentless upselling. About once a week, they'd recommend additional services--often things that seemed like they should have been covered* under "full maintenance," but were apparently left out to increase revenues. For instance, despite having weed and insect control as part of the plan, when weeds persisted, I was told, "That's not covered--you'll need to replace the entire lawn with new sod." Needless to say, that would have cost thousands of dollars. Likewise, when our crepe myrtles had an aphid infestation, we were charged $129 each time they sprayed--scheduled twice a month--with no guarantee of when the issue would be resolved. If anything ever sounded like a money pit, this was it. It's been about four months since I canceled the contract. Recently, I noticed that one of the dwarf crepe myrtles they had planted had died. I texted Mas, and he sent one of his team members (Matt) to look at it. Matt said they wouldn't replace the plant because the contract had been canceled--which is fair--but then tried to suggest that I should have ordered more plants for a full hedge. When I pointed out that I had followed Mas's original recommendations and renditions, he changed his story and blamed the irrigation system, adding that the plants would fill out in two years if I fixed it. All in all, my experience with Agave was disappointing. While they talk a good game about design and plant expertise, the follow-through, communication, and accountability just weren't there. Between the constant upselling, lack of ownership, and the need to manage multiple points of contact yourself, Agave ended up being far more hassle than help. We contacted Agave to help with backyard landscaping. We can't say enough positive things about the experience with the Agave team. It started with Amy and consolation and design. She came out and talked through our plans and went back and made recommendations and developed a sketch Tia how the possibilities. We added about 30 feet of stone work raised flower beds on the edge of the pool, and stone pathway for pool service and a dog run to reduce wear on the grass and ladder serviced 5 raised flower beds with all new material and plants. The design was perfectly executed. We coordinated with the front office, they require 50% deposit and remainder at job completion. We completed this and achieved the work. During installation the team did and excellent job of communicating and coordinating their actions. They were onsite for 3 days and this was especially awesome at the end of each day they cleaned the worksite. Picked up all trash and debris, they organized their tools and materials so we could function in the evening still while they did the project. The team repaired a few issues with irrigation system that they found and just performed very task exceptionally. At completion Amy came back to verify the team completed all tasks and checked on our satisfaction. We couldn't be more happy with the outcome and do highly recommend this company for any of your work. PS we did hire two other companies before Agave but their work was so substandard all plants died, the mason work cracked and crumbled so we went true professionals to do it right. 100% would NOT recommend. We used Agave initially when we purchased our home. We discontinued services w them at the time bc we were unhappy, but decided to give a try again earlier this year. We had since gotten artificial turf for our backyard, so let them know that we wanted regular mowing and weeding services for the front, then for the backyard just to be cleaned up for an event we were having. They mowed our artificial turf. There are areas that are now uneven in height (esp edges and what would look like a missed row of cut grass if it were meant to be cut) and there were circular burn marks from the rotary mower. Things happen (although to cut artificial turf across an entire backyard is a really insane "mistake" to make), so to think they would at least make things right. We contacted them several times to let them know of the issues and management is totally denying any responsibility and avoiding the issue despite one of their own employees admitting that something went wrong. The design Agave LD came up with was very good. The installation was difficult and they did a great job of tearing the old out, planting and cleaning up. I'd asked for a maintenance free landscape with plants that tolerate the Texas cold and heat. Months later I've had several plants die in the extremes. Worse, they gave me a new irrigation map of my zones and mislabeled one area as under Zone 1, when it should have been labeled as Zone 12. They shut off Zone 12, so all of the shrubs died due to lack of water, and I recently had to replace them using another landscaper. The service they provided was okay, but for the high expense, it should have been better. read more

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND AGAVE!!! Horrible service! All the backyard grass trimmings were blown into the back corner and never picked up, see pics. One of the front lawns sprinklers shut off valve cover was damaged by their weed eater. All of the valve covers in the front and backyard were not kept trimmed, and the grass is growing over the covers. If you like having damages and not knowing until you discover it, this is the company for you. After they whipped our pool skimmer I thought ok, it was laying in the grass and maybe they didn't see it. My bad. After they blew all the leaves into my shed and all over my equipment I thought ok, there's no door, my bad. Even after I had to leave work to retrieve my dog because they cut through the wire on the invisible fence, I though ok, the line wasn't buried. But when they took a ride on mower in my back yard and broke a hinge, I guess that's where I had enough. Called the company over 3 weeks ago and was told that their service manager was out. Apparently, that person is the only person capable of taking care of my issue. I'm still waiting to hear from the owner as I've requested his attention but have yet to hear back. I was told that this matter is important to them yet it's been since the 29th of June and my gate is still broken. They told me I could get the gate fixed out of pocket and they would reimburse, however, there is no incentive for them to pay once the work is completed by another company. What if the price is more than they are willing to pay? I did ask for a refund for services. The one where that damaged my fence. I was told they cannot refund. Sure. After drawing up a rough landscape plan, I contacted several landscape companies to get quotes. The job involved a total rework of our backyard, including removing all the grass, building a raised stone bed, making an area to accommodate a couple of metal raised garden beds, constructing a composite deck, and building a border edged by large loose stones and raw metal edging. The irrigation system needed reworking for a couple of new drip irrigation zones for the raised beds and border. I planned to do the planting myself in the fall. It was not easy finding a company willing to take on the work. Agave rose to the challenge. Edwin Carranza, a landscape designer and one of the company's owners, improved on my drawing and used software to create 3D images that allowed the design to be visualized. After providing a quote and receiving our (non-refundable) deposit, Edwin submitted the drawings and images to our HOA for approval. The work took place over several weeks, and in every phase it was done meticulously and professionally... despite high heat and humidity. There were no shortcuts taken and no skimping in the quality of materials or workmanship. When stonework was done, there was a proper foundation of concrete. When the deck foundation was built, posts were set a full 2 feet deep, and joists were closely spaced and well blocked. Catch basins and pop ups were installed to facilitate drainage, and our downspout was redirected under the landscape. The amount of mulch and river rock used was generous. There are plenty of sprinkler heads, all Rain Bird. Same for the drip zones. Work was overseen all along the way by Eduardo Carranza, who acted as project manager. There were only a few hiccups during the project. One is that we failed to prepare for the astronomical amount of airborne dust generated by a project like this, another an unexpected delay in the availability of the specific composite deck material we'd selected, the third the appearance of nutgrass. In every case, the situation was handled to our satisfaction. Edwin was very responsive to calls, texts, and emails throughout the process. Quality workmanship and materials don't come at bargain basement prices, but it's worth paying more for a landscape that lasts. We expect to enjoy our landscape for many years to come! read more

Always very responsive when communicating with them and quick to resolve the few issues/concerns that have popped up during the time we've been with them. Agave is doing our weekly lawn mowing and fertilization. Recently we discussed adding a flower bed and 2 trees in the back yard. Alberto suggested the best plants and trees, he created a picture of our back yard showing how it would look with the landscape modifications, and drew up a cost estimate. They modified our irrigation system and watering schedule to include the plants, shrubs and trees. Agave was very flexible with the installation timing. I can't say enough about Agave. I am delighted with the entire process. Megan, our consultant, was understanding and able to combine our ideas with best practices for our area. The result is impressive. My wife and I now enjoy sitting on our back, seeing the rock gardens, new trees, and plants. Crews were always on time, and when the weather did not permit work, we received texts and calls saying it would not be feasible that day. Very talented crews worked full days to see this to completion. The follow-up weekly inspections put my mind at ease. I used Agave for over two years for bi-weekly mowing. The mowing was decent and generally on-time. I then sold my home and literally moved down the street. I let Agave know that I needed my service moved. While I was paying roughly $40 for the bi-weekly mowing, I was shocked when I saw my new bill and it was more than DOUBLE. When I contacted them they told me that they now charge on an hourly basis and that they had "new prices." So I promptly cancelled. So now, get this, almost weekly I now have someone from Agave come to my house and drop off pamphlets or business cards. I've asked them to stop but they won't. Personally, I'd avoid them as I don't think they have the proper business acumen to understand that you don't double someone's prices for moving down the street in the same community, to the same lot size. I have to share this amazing experience. I signed up maybe a year ago, the price is higher than most but I got the impression there was some value added by their seemingly professional model. I signed up for the lawn care and maintenance. After a few months I learned it was not the case. I started suspecting something was amiss when I would get billed for service but didn't notice the lawn look any different. To the point I doubted they showed up at all. I let it pass. Not long after, I was home in the after noon when I heard the lawn crew show up. I walked to the window to have a look and saw two guys with leaf blowers walk across the yard, blowing leaves and debris into the street, then walk to the truck to leave. I didn't think I missed their entire service because they only just arrived. They certainly didn't go into the back yard. I walked out to the drive and watched them pack up to leave. Less the five minutes overall. The yard looked the same with the exception of some leaves blown into the road. I called to complain about this and was assured of a refund. By the end of the call the refund turned in to a "credit" for the next service. I figuratively fumed about it for a few days, that crew did nothing and I was expecting a credit for what? The next time they come and do nothing? I called a few days later and cancelled my service. A few weeks go by and I come home to a sign on my yard saying it's been treated. I called to explain I did not ask for the service and that I had canceled some time ago. But I was told that I only canceled my lawn maintenance and not the lawn service. Now they want 150$ for lawn treatment because the geniuses at Agave want to play semantics. I made it clear I wanted to cancel my service and not deal with them again. I thought we were done. Yesterday I get an email lauding the benefits of their lawn service and inviting me to try their service. I'm to the point where I have to become extremely direct when pointing out I don't want their service. My email communication shouldn't leave any doubt to anyone reading it. This morning I get the response that they're confused by my communication. Because apparently my service is only paused and not canceled as I had demanded. Paused. Not. Canceled. I'm not sure who isn't speaking to each other over at Agave. But without a doubt I can tell you who they are not listening to. Now if you've gotten this far I can see why you might think I'm annoyed over getting their emails. But I will remind you that this began as a complaint over their service. Today it's apparent to me that the handling of everything after my first complaint was just veiled attempt to keep me as a customer even after I clearly wanted out. Maybe this is a "time heals all wounds" tactic on their part. It doesn't work for me and I avoided sharing anything about it till today. They planted all 8 shrubs in 1 gallon instead of the 3 gallon that was paid for and noted in their estimate. I only realized this after I paid for and planted 3 gal versions myself. There's a huge difference. One shrub died within a few weeks and they would not replace. I believe the installer stepped on it (saw it on my camera). These guys were great from start to finish, and after. I hired Agave after obtaining multiple quotes to have an entire backyard remodel and landscaping completed. Edwin was the most professional of all of our quotes. He was also one of the only ones that really cared about our project, helped brainstorm some ways to solve our space problem and came up with several options to pick from on both design and price. The decking and patio project went really well. Edwin checks in at all the key points of the project and communicates problems immediately. There were a few times we had to make corrections, but it all went smoothly. The decking turned out better than we expected from the original photos. The landscaping was also great. They helped us solve drainage issues causing washout and re-worked our irrigation system to work with all the new plants and grass. The whole project went very smooth, the crew is very polite and professional. The job site was left clean when they were done. The entire project was communicated well from start to finish. RIP OFF PLEASE DO NO GO HERE! They have charged close to $900.00 in the last two months and I have barely anything to show for it. We have now received another HOA violation, instead of a warning, charging $50 this time, notating weeds and lack of lawn maintenance. We didn't initially want to believe that, but after looking at the condition of our lawn immediate attention is needed. We requested the following items to be completed and received no help! 1. Look at the irrigation/sprinkler system, fix any parts needed, test and insure working properly and set up on a schedule at no cost. 2. Remove any excess branches and/or trees next to the larger trees in the metal circular borders in the front yard (see attached images). 3. Remove any excess debris and/or trash out back and in front ensure that this is done on a weekly basis. 4. Clean out all plants bordering the home and fence out back. Ensure any dead leaves are removed from the lawn and blown out. 5. Remove all weeds out front and in the back and ensure this is done on a weekly basis. 6. Fertilize the lawn and ensure the color comes back to green, so we are in compliance with the HOA at no cost. This was their response: "Thank you for your email. I appreciate you bringing your concerns to my attention. After taking a look at your account I notice that you are not sign up for bed maintenance. This is an additional service that we provide but it's currently not added to the services that you have. You are currently only signup for 9 app fertilization and weed control program and the weekly lawn mowing service that includes mowing , edging and blowing the area clean (leaves and small debris ) . If you would like I can definitely submit a service request for our service manger to provide a quote for a general clean up on the flower beds." read more

Agave just re-did the front yard on our new build and WOW! Our yard looks amazing now. I just love it! We got multiple quotes and while they were not the cheapest, they were the most professional by detailing exactly what they would do and even providing a design rendering. They were easy to communicate with, showed up exactly when they said they would, and left the work area tidy each day. They also took care of getting our HOA approval. I was very impressed with their work ethic and attention to detail on the project. We have about a half-acre lot and have plans to build a pool. Agave was absolutely positively awful! A lot of talk (emails galore) but no action! We used them for 1 month and paid over $1,300.00 for almost no work. 1. Agave charged us $1,000.00 to treat a sick tree Current gardener said it was never treated! 2. Agave charged us $330.00 monthly service to come weekly to edge, mow and blow. Missed 2 full weeks. On the one occasion that I was home- I could not get the men to get out of their truck, once I finally did they could not be bothered to get off their phones. Pulled 4-5 weeds and left. NO WEEKLY MOW & BLOW! ‍ 3. This is my FIRST EVER NEGATIVE REVIEW! I realize businesses have it tough. But my husband & I wasted too much time & money with them! We don't want others to fall prey to them. 4. We had two beautiful tall Crate Myrtles in front yard. Went on vacation and one of them butchered to almost 1' above ground level. Agave said it wasn't them. They said "it was another gardener that came to the wrong house!" 5. We called, emailed back etc but no resolution to any of their mistakes. One guy even said "We are not arborist!" He said this immediately after another man said that he had just treated tree! They DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! Do not hire them read more

I was VERY pleased with Agave LD. We had a BIG job to refresh our Xeriscaping in our large yard. From the beginning, David came out on a timely manner, was courteous and friendly. Came back with an estimate quickly. They followed up regularly and then when we booked with them, they scheduled faster than I thought (2 weeks out). Here is the MOST important part. They arrived on the day they said they would and at the time they said they would and did every day after that. The job took 6 days to complete. Our supervisor, Edward, was always available any time of day for communications. He walked us through the project every day to make sure we were all on the same page. I received a referral for Agave landscaping from a friend. I called to see if I could get somebody out quickly to my house before a party as my yard was over run with weeds and the grass was high. It was short notice but the estimator sent me an estimate within minutes and was then able to reroute his crew to my neighborhood to accommodate my short time frame. They came out when they said they would and the work they did to clean up my yard was incredible. The party was beautiful and I was able enjoy the week knowing the lawn was not on my to do list. We've had landscapers do our lawn in the past when we were away for vacation but this is the first time we've hired someone for ongoing every other week service. I can't tell you how awesome it feels knowing we don't have to argue with the kids about when we'll start doing the lawn on the weekends. The Agave Team just finished our Yard Cleanup and I am incredibly pleased with the service we received. I became disabled not long ago and could no longer care adequately for my own yard. After waiting until our yard was becoming overgrown in back, I contacted Agave and received a good quote within 2 days. Edwin came out and met me with a great attitude and was so attentive to my needs on his first visit that I felt really good about the company right away. Once I received the quote for their services, I was put on the schedule and my yard was started just 3 days later. We wanted to redo our whole front yard with a new landscape design and looked at several landscape companies. Most of them came out, took a look at our yard, gave a quote and said they would start the project. But with Agave LD it was really a different experience and we liked it. They came out and did a detailed assessment of the front yard and gave detailed steps on what would happen next. We were given a 3D landscape design and saw what our property would look like. We were given the timeline, expectations, were given daily updates and were able to start the project 2 weeks later. The project took 2.5 weeks and wow it looks beautiful!
