Always had a good experience at Jaliscos. The other day went there and took a long time getting served. The waitress was one who never made eye contact. I don't think she liked Gringos. The party of women at the next table were screaming and laughing the entire time. We moved but it was still intolerable. I complained and the waitress basically said go somewhere else next time. "This is a happy town." She also got my wife's order wrong. Only go there when the tall Hispanic woman is not on duty. read more

Much better under the new management. Staff is friendlier and the place is WAY cleaner. We were actually greeted when we walked in! That never happened before! Service is faster and accurate. Starting with first takes ... the salsa is great. Cold iced tea is spot on. Recommend the flameado served with homemade tortillas. It's made with chorizo and (we think) bacon!!!! The best ever. Enchilada plates are solid. See pics. Guisada is excellent with the gravy having an almost smoky taste. They also season with more Guajillo chili's, which gives the main dishes a smoky taste instead of just only traditional red chili. Service is very good and attentive. Women's bathroom could use a wee bit of tlc. Overall the ambiance is your typical small-town TexMex restaurant with Mexican styled, well cared for booths and tables, good music, and clean. After I visited a couple of sightseeing spots such as the Fannin monument, Presidio Bahia, etc, I was so hungry. I asked Yelp about local restaurants. I found it here. The Yelp reviews were not good. I didn't care because I was in a small city. I didn't have a lot of choices. When I saw the menu, I was surprised at the prices. It was cheaper than Houston. I ordered chicken tacos. When I put the chicken in my mouth, I thought it tasted like a Chinese stir-fried one. Did the cook learn the cooking method in a Chinese restaurant? The service was good. I saw a few customers. I love trying local restaurants and since I was in south Texas what a better place to try Migas. Service here was very quick and friendly. The server were bilingual. I found it delicious and first time trying Menudo while visiting the States from Canada. I loved it to the last drop. Great decor as well. A friend had the tortilla soup that was packed with goodness and avocado slices galore. Another had French toast, which should have been supplied with a knife, and syrup - we asked and they provided. Friendly service and an enjoyable meal. The girl serving us got telling us about how her family would make menudo and she would only like the soup part and not the meat. But this was great, cleared my sinuses right out and kept me full for hours after. Exactly what I'd hoped for. read more

I've have eaten here a number of times for breakfast and lunch and have never had a bad experience. Dining options in Goliad are limited so Agave Jalisco is a great option. They have remolded the restaurant and added a small bar area. Is this the best Mexican food I've experienced no but is far from the worst. Their menu is typical with no real surprises. Breakfast tacos are large and if you are really hungry 2 will keep you full until dinner time. Lunch and dinner entrees are well portioned and the enchiladas are my favorite. Service can be hit or miss as they do get busy. Set your expectations accordingly and you will be AOK here. read more

I don't think they switch out the oil often because this as happened before. Disappointed. I sent then back and I was still charged for it. Mind you I took a bite of a nacho, complained and sent it back. I told the cashier I wasn't going to pay and she understood but she said she couldn't take it off the ticket without the manager but I could come back the next day for my refund. Went there for breakfast with my family. It took thirty minutes to get our order. Three out of five orders were wrong. They didn't offer to fix them just brought us cold salsa. The eggs were over cooked. They never brought the tortillas they said they were going to bring. It was a heaping helping of disappointment. Not going back. read more

Let me start from the top. I'm from the south. I've been to about a billion Agave's but this one really stands out. Before I walked in (killing time after yoga) I promised myself that I would have something light, maybe a salad or an avocado plate. But after opening the door and smelling the delicious smells wafting from the kitchen I knew that plan was out the door. Sitting down in a super comfy booth, I took in the interior. Once again this place stands out because it is NICE (good selfie lighting too). Once I order and got my good fast I was overwhelmed with how good everything was! My shrimp was juicy as hell and packed with flavor. Salsa is on point and the chips are fresh and not overly salted, perfect for anyone watching their salt. Tea I would rate a 9.5 because I only give my grandma a 10. read more

Ordered takeout tonight. The girl doing the delivery, the cook and the steward were not wearing gloves or masks. This is a danger and they told me how they are opening this Friday to customers in the dining room. I would avoid this place at all costs since they do not take any steps whatsoever to contain the virus. This is exactly what is going to destroy restaurants in the soft opening moving forward from COVID-19. Restaurants will never be the same and this practice is indicative of that! I keep giving them a chance, but nothing's improved. What is that nasty smell that's always there??? Sewer back up? Rotten meat? The dirty dishes piled up on the carts at the entrance? Dirty rags that they use to clean the tables and chairs; without using any spray cleaner? I can't pinpoint it, but it's certainly not appetizing. There's certainly no smell of food cooking, or of freshness. Just after finishing this bland meal, a small roach crawled across my table! My wife and I stopped in for breakfast before hitting the trail to the fort at Goliad SP during our brief mini vacation during spring break. It was recommended to us by someone in town. She had a bacon egg and cheese breakfast burrito. I had an egg and chicharrones breakfast burrito. Before our food came, the server brought us catsup and mustard. I was a little confused by that. In fact, I don't even remember seeing catsup or mustard in a Mexican restaurant before. Rachel said hers was good. She was surprised by the huge amount of egg, but felt the bacon was a bit skimpy. Mine was not what I expected. Usually, when I eat chicharrones in San Antonio, they are cooked in a red sauce. These were just plain old wet and soggy pork rinds. The only thing I had to add some flavor to my burrito was catsup, mustard, or a store-bought jar of Mexican Hot Sauce. It may have been Valentina. I don't remember the brand for sure. Anyway, I opted for the hot sauce. Of course that just made everything taste vinegary. read more

Stopped in here on an early Saturday afternoon on the way back to SA from Port A. Staff was very nice, dining room was clean and the decor was cool. The menu is your traditional 3-4 pages over everything you could imagine from enchiladas to burgers. I got the lengua (tongue) torts, which was good, but not great. The lengua wasn't grilled, which is normally how it's done. The bread and veggies were fresh though and the borracho means were very good. Chips and salsa were tasty as well. Everyone at the table (6 of us) seemed to liked what they ate, but no super compliments. The one thing I did hear a lot of was the quality of the "homemade" tortillas. You can have store bought or homemade, but my party didn't seem to tell the difference. I didn't have tortillas that day though. This place isn't bad, but it's not spectacular. I would go here again and honestly think it would get better and my rating would improve. Coming from SA I've gotten spoiled to and endless amount of Tex-Mex and taco trucks I guess. read more

Pleasantly surprised! When planning our trip to Goliad to spend the night at Presidio La Bahia, I asked around at work to find out where the best places to eat in Goliad would be, and everyone told me to drive to Victoria for supper. We decided to try Agave Jalisco and I'm glad we did. I had the Gordo's plate for supper and it's beef fajita with chorizo and covered in Monterrey Jack cheese. Very good. The charro beans are on point as is the salsa. We liked supper so we returned for breakfast and the migas were very good. I'm glad I didn't waste time and gas driving all the way to Victoria. read more

We come here for breakfast with no complaints. It's actually our "go to" but tonight, 2/14/2020. The only thing nice I have to say is WOW... He ordered fajitas(which were NOT fajitas, but more like a Philly cheese steak meat) and I ordered the famous Texas plate(you can't go wrong with that.) So the waitress brings out our food, sets my "cold" texas plate down and his "fajita" plate down. Ok we are waiting for our tortillas and his rice and beans, which we never got. Mind you we are both starving because we havent eaten since lunch and its now 9pm. So long story short, I say "we are NOT paying for cold food and food that we never got" we walk up to the register and tell the cashier what's up and she procedes to confront the 3 waitresses that waited on us and guess what. It was like I was back at home with 3 teenagers in the house. Wasnt me. Not mine ugh. So the cashier tells them "ok" and takes off all food and charges us only for the margaritas (aka lemonade). If you are truly searching for an overwhelming assault to your nostrils, search no further! The stench of Fabuloso floor cleaner will ruin your appetite for even a cold beer. They aren't shy about mopping the floor, with more than an hour prior to closing, gracefully whipping the mop perilously close to your feet...while you're eating. Nauseating!! Worst service ever had in a restaurant, and this is coming from a former server. I ordered a veggie burrito and the waitress looked at me weird and then asked if I wanted fries. I was like umm burritos come with fries? When our food came she had a hamburger bun with lettuce and tomatoes on it . How does that sound like a veggie burrito? We had to wait for condiments which should have been asked when food came out and then had to wait for utensils as our food was getting cold.
