The food was good and well priced. Enough seating BUT the service was in need of improvement. I will write tho that our server appeared to be new or rt out of training. Outside of that the restroom was clean. Only one handicap parking now I think about it and for people like me...... that was not to good. I am glad though that when I reported the vehicle to a server the motorist who parked move his vehicle as he did not have a handicap lic plate or placard. Overall it was a good experience. read more

We were in town for a wedding and grabbed breakfast here one of the days. We had a party of 11 and they accommodated us no problem. We sat in the veterans quarters which fit us comfortably. The restaurant is old in looks and not super "clean" at first glance. Kind of a whole in the wall feel. Out waitress was great and the service was fairly quick. The food was good and most plates came out as ordered. With a party as large as ours that is a task in itself. A couple hiccups are gonna happen. I had the borbacoa plate which came with eggs, beans, and I added a hash brown. The borbacoa I had was more fatty than I prefer but it tasted alright. The hashbrown was the star of the show with the nice crisp it had and the food was hot when it came out. Beeville is a small town with not a lot of options. I would have breakfast here again. It's not a 4 star restaurant but the prices are good, the food was decent and the service was pretty good too. I wouldn't count it out; just keep the expectation in check. read more

I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be exactly what you'd think. It had a sit-down wait-staff dining room and I came after the lunch rush. They don't put a lot of money into the decor in this place. The staff as accommodating enough though. I wouldn't call it dirty, but I get the feeling that if I gave it the white glove test at the end of the day, it wouldn't be long before I'd need a second pair of gloves. The food was basic Mexican fare. Taco, beans, rice, etc. Good enough. The rice was a bit bland. Don't avoid it if you're in town, but just know beforehand what to expect. read more

Drove past this place many times and often saw a massive line of cars in the drive thru. After getting some coupons from a local pizza joint, we decided to try out this restaurant. I'm from Laredo, never been to Beeville before but we had to stay here and and woke up late...no one had breakfast after noon and my sun requires breakfast as the first meal no matter what time it is. This place came through and served the best tasting tacos, the homemade tortillas hit my taste buds and woke up immediately, and I'm from Laredo where I believe tacos are from but man these were good and complimented with a good tasting salsa. In Beeville with family for the holidays and decided we wanted Mexican food for breakfast. Usually small town restaurants like this are the best. This place was pretty disappointing. Biscuits ordered by my dad were heated in the microwave. Coffee was okay. Our server was not very clear with us about how to pay the check. Just overall not good. My meal was decent. I got the country sausage plate. It came with eggs and potatoes, so pretty standard fare. Usually those kind of plates come with tortillas. My server forgot them. So, I had to ask for them. Also, did not have salsa on the table, which is pretty unusual. The best part about this restaurant was the speed of service. Not tasty, unfortunately, but fast. read more

So we were traveling through Beeville, and wanted to stop for lunch, so I went on trusty ol' Yelp, and found the best reviewed little Mexican joint. The place was moderately busy for a Sunday lunch, but nothing too bad. We ordered drinks, and it took a while before they came out. Not only did the drinks take their time coming out, but they were wrong! And once that was fixed, the tea tasted horrible. Not off to a good start by any means..... We munched on chips and salsa, until it was time to order, which were just ok. I ordered the carne guisada plate, and wifey had the beef fajita plate. For as busy as they weren't, they sure took a long time to prepare our plates. But when the plates arrived, It made up for everything. The carne guisada was perfectly cooked and seasoned! The refried beans were awesome! and the homemade flour tortillas were excellent as well! Wifey didn't complain one bit (about the food). As a matter of fact, the beef fajita meat was ever so tender. The way it should be! I will be back to visit, I just hope they fix the service issues before I do. And don't change a thing about the food! It's just the way abuelita used to make it. read more

I'm saddened as I sit here written this review. Not because the food at this place isn't amazing, it is, but because there aren't places like this in my home town o Dallas. I ordered the machada breakfast plate (shredded beef with scrambled eggs, beans, potatoes, and your choice of homemade flour or corn tortillas). Saying it was great is an understatement. Perfect is more like it. To make it even better, the environment, service, and price (under $5) far exceeded my expectations. And !!! let's just get this straight from the beginning...Tex Mex is NOT fine dining...it was once "comida del los pobres" or food of the poor...It's earthy it's rustic, Hey it's cultural comfort food. For those who dare to go beyond the enchiladas and taco's and standard tex mex fare it is innards cooked in various ways which date back several centuries at least.... Their breakfast tacos are the absolute best! When you get them as often as I do, they remember you haha. Their fresh squeezed lemonada is also a must-have! I've tried all of their tacos, but stick to my tried and true bean and cheese taco. Never disappoints. I love Chapala and the family that owns it! The people alone are enough to keep you coming back. I happened upon Taqueria Chapala when I was in Beeville for business. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but the food was great! After taking a quick glance at their menu, I decided to try their protein options out in a few tacos. The homemade corn tortillas were warm and slightly sweet which balanced the taste of the well seasoned proteins. I ordered the fajita steak, fajita chicken, pastor, lengua, and molleja. Each one was very good. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor in the molleja. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu items. read more

Service was very slow (2 tables including me and I waited over 30minutes) and my chicken fajita tacos tasted bland... I would love to try their breakfast tacos next time though or the barbacoa... Whenever in Beeville I eat breakfast here. The food is delicious. The tortillas are always perfect. The service is so so but nothing to write home about either. My favorite visit a Mariachi stopped by and sang a plethora of songs. He was gold. Made my morning. The seating is always difficult because I usually visit with a big family but they always seem to get everyone's orders correct. I always tip well. They deserve it. read more

The carne gusada here is off the chain. I'm not a huge fan of their refried beans but the charro beans are amazing. The barbocoa is awesome. And try the pineapple drink. You really can't go wrong here. read more

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is it! The rice and beans were superb. I ordered the green chili chicken enchiladas and I was not not disappointed. The chili sauce had just enough spice to get my nose running! My husband, who is not a big fan of Mexican food, even enjoyed his mixed meat hot plate. Great size portions, too. Food was very delish as always, my main dislike is the lack of communication and the drive through service. Not only did the lady not understand but she did not give a total and did not even let us know to drive up to the window, lol dead silence for about give mins before I drove up and then not one word at the window just a stuck hand out the window for my money :/ I do understand the drive thru is something new to thi restaurant since I have loved this place for years but if I were an out-of-towner passing thru, they would have lost my business and a very horrible review!!!!
