Normally similar restaurants bring chips and salsa immediately, we got chips 20 minutes after being seated (and after the appetizers were served), and 1 minute after we got the appetizers the main course was served! The order of service (chips first, then appetizers, then dinner) was a little out of whack with everything coming at once, but at least the food was good. Our group of six waited outside, and was told there would be an hour wait. No problem. At the 50 minute mark, a large table just inside the window was cleaned and sat empty for 10 minutes. At the hour mark, 2 people from another group were seated along with 10 place settings. With a line of people waiting outside, those two people sat alone at this large table for 20 minutes, until 2 more people showed, and 10 minutes after that two more showed. A table for 10+ was taken by two people, and it took a full 45 minutes before their entire party arrived. In the meantime, our group of 6 waited an hour and 20 minutes. We were ready - they were not. This restaurant is new but it needs to get its sht together. I ordered the agave margarita. It was $14. I didn't order the Epic, but that's what the waiter served me. That's $28. The bill was not itemized, but for a tots appetizer, a margarita, two shots of jack, a coke, a burger with fries, a birria burrito, the bill came to $155. Yes...$155. Thats with tax and tip. Bar service was friendly and generally good even when our bartender forgot to bring a drink for over 20 minutes and laughed about it. Bar was literally not bussed once...after dinner rush was over the entire bar was covered in dirty dishes end to end. Food is good, Birria tacos are prime. Drinks are good and half off margarita's on Mondays are delicious. The only recommendation we had was getting team members to pre bus and clear off dirty dishes from tables. read more

I had one of my best service experiences by any server to date thanks to Curtis. It was a pretty bad day... our family pet died and we were feeling pretty low. After a long day at work I didn't feel like cooking so I took my kids to Agave & Rye figuring the fun ambiance would cheer them up some-- plus who doesn't like tacos? It was a little bit of a wait, and once we did get seated Curtis took our drink order and said he had to get some checks and then would be back to take our order. That took a bit and when he came back with drinks he brought some free queso and chips as a "sorry for the wait" which was nice. He was helpful taking our order, giving recommendations which saved me so much because he suggested I get my salsa for my taco on the side due to the spice-- good call. Food was good. I got the Alderman (get the salsa on the side) and my son got the Plain Jane and my daughter got the Rangoon (which are also a bit spicy). Curtis checked on us a few times after we got our food, refilled drinks, made jokes, and talked Pokemon with my daughter. It was more than any other server and a balm during a painful time-- his kindness helped us forget about all that for awhile. When we got our to-go boxes he brought a lot of options to make sure our food stored well-- a kindness that will allow my husband to enjoy unsoggy options that haven't all run together when he gets home. I love agave and rye but this location has awful management that should be fired asap. every single time I order from them on doordash they fail to deliver the entire order. This is the restaurant's fault as they are putting the order in sealed bags that don't have all the items. They need new management, and most likely need new employees. Such a shame. read more

First visit here and the good and service were good but the restrooms were horrendous ! Rotten, dry sewer and gas were so overwhelming that the other woman almost vomited. The health department needs to come in! I spoke to the manager and he said they are looking into it. read more

Great food. Horrible service. I tried this place 3 times. Food and drinks are amazing. But you have to wait 5-15 mins just for the server to show up for the drink order. Then another 15-30 mins before the drinks come. Twice we went the frozen margaritas were down, so then another 15-30 to get replacement drinks. Had to ask 2 servers for the check. Then another 2 different servers for to-go boxes. What should be a 1 hr dinner ends up being 2 hrs. Really a shame because it's a great atmosphere that's ruined by negligent service and amateur wait staff. It's not understaffed so I don't know where the lapse might be. read more

We arrived at around 2:30 on a Monday afternoon and were seated within 5 minutes. Only 5-6 tables were occupied. We waited waaaay too long for a server and water. Our server mumbled and would walk away as she was talking, so it was hard to get questions answered. We had the Elote as an appetizer and it was delicious! It is the only reason for the 2 stars. We had to ask for silverware and then wait for it because they "ran out". Our tacos took forever to come out because "there was a spill in the kitchen". We had the Birria tacos and El Camaron tacos. Neither were very tasty; both were very mild. I don't think the Camaron tacos had poblano peppers as described. Our water was never refilled. That was the last of anything fast, because we sat for almost an hour before our order was taken and the food took a long time too. When it arrived, mine was almost cold. The food here was just okay. We came on taco Tuesday and tried two of their "epic" tacos on special, as well as some queso and an order of birria street tacos. The queso was very salty. It had visible flecks of peppers or onions but didn't taste of very much beyond overly salty cheese. The chips were also just okay. I don't know if they were made with flour tortillas instead of corn, but they were not very flavorful. We had the Bang Bang taco, which features fried cauliflower, corn fritters, and thin spicy carrot strips. It was pretty tasty, though too much bread for us until we took off the soft outer flour shell. We also had the Alderman taco, which is a steak taco topped with elote. The elote was fantastic, I would definitely recommend getting it on its own. The taco as a whole was just fine. The elote did the heavy lifting, flavor-wise. The birria street tacos were too salty. They were a little better when we dipped them in the consomme, which washed off some of the salt. We did not finish our order of birria tacos. We also tried the margarita and peach bourbon punch. Both were very tasty, though the margarita could have benefited from a salt rim. However, both drinks were clearly built in the glass and came unmixed without a stir stick or straw to mix it ourselves. It seems like they would have benefited from batching their drink specials on taco Tuesday, but I admittedly don't know anything about running a bar or Ohio liquor laws. Overall, we might be back for cocktails and some appetizers, but this will definitely not be first on our list of places to revisit for dinner. read more

My tacos were soaked in sauce and very sticky...not able to eat with my hands. Got an eye roll and a sigh when I asked for silverware. And they're served on trays, no plates, and we sat outside and didn't have napkins either. But LOTS of pushy sells on their mixed drinks. The drinks are served nicely, in actual glassware specific to each drink, and look like they were prepared with love and care that they looked good. I ordered an appetizer for everyone of the loaded tots which were amazing with flavor and heat. They were House-Made Tots, Sweet & Spicy Bacon, Queso con Chorizo, Aged White Cheddar, Pico, Crispy Carrots, Cowboy Candy, Chile de Arbol. Delicious!! Then I ordered the Queen E taco made of Crispy Mahi Mahi, Malt Vinegar French Fries, Chipotle Remoulade, Pickled Red Onion, Radish Habanero Slaw, Guac Love Cushion, Crispy Puffy & Soft Flour Shell. I dipped the fries in my granddaughters queso dipping sauce that came with her Epic Grilled Cheese Smash Burger that consisted of two Smashed Burger Patties, Sweet & Spicy Bacon, Oaxaca & White Cheddar, Dill Pickles, Tomato, Ketchup, Comeback Sauce, Queso Dipping Sauce. She also had fries that she shared for they were very good and crispy. My husband ordered the burrito and Lacey ordered the street tacos. Everyone enjoyed their meal and even took some home with them. I also ordered the Agave Epic Rita which was the best margarita ever. At the end of our meal, our friendly waitress brought me a Salty Pimp Epic Taco dessert for my birthday which was delicious as well. The food was not good whatsoever. It wasn't even hot. The interior was nice though and I had high expectations for everything. The double shell taco was a weird stale and soggy bite that did not go well together. I would definitely not recommend the birria if you are looking for 'authentic' - it is by far from authentic. We did go on one of the first nights so the service wasn't the best but we weren't surprised. Macaroni on a taco? Not a good mix. The prices are outrageous for some tacos if I must add. The only good things I can say is about the restaurant's atmosphere and the sauces they offer. Will not be returning. read more

Frozen meat & greasy. We had 2 tacos & 2 margaritas & the bill was $62. For the amount of money, you would think that food would be near amazing. The Alderman taco - the carne asada was cold & one piece was close to frozen - I guess they don't cook this fresh. The Green Goddess taco - conceptually sounds delicious, but the veggies were cooked in so much oil that the oil was the only flavor. Only had a couple of dots of cilantro chimichurri - not enough to cover the oil flavor. Service was ok - we had to ask for silverware & napkins after the food came.
