I went to Agape Eye Care Optical on Jamaica Avenue Queens Village. I did not wait long to see the Dr. I knew my eyes was bad, but it was confirmed it is worst than I thought. After the examine the Dr. told me the women at the front counter will assist me with glasses. Then the Dr. took off for the day. I asked the women which she was mean looking, stern with her talk and no smile or pleasant greeting at all. I asked her to show me the area where I can find CWA 1180 union glasses so I can choose from there, she pointed to an area with around 30 glasses on the shelf, so I went there and started trying on glasses, then she said; all the glasses there are not covered under CWA 1180 union and she started to randomly pick glasses off the shelf, she picked 5 glasses out of the 30 glasses that was on the shelf. I asked her how does she know which ones to pick when it was 30 glasses on the shelf and she only picked 5 out of the 30, She replied and said; I have done this for a long time, I know which ones are covered. I said so why did you direct me over here when I asked you for the CWA union glasses. In any case I picked out 1 of the 5 glasses that was covered. As she started to measure the glasses she told me I will have to pick a bigger lens glasses so the prescription can fit on the lens. So I had to choose from the remaining 30 glasses on the shelf since she made sure the 5 she picked was not compatible for the prescription. The glasses I choose, she said was $100. Of course I felt cheated right away. You may think its not bad to pay $100 for glasses, but I went there with the intension of paying no money for my glasses and to save with my CWA 1180 union benefits, that was not the case. she then got a calculator and started jotting down numbers and amounts on a paper. which came up to $587.00 I told her I get a $100 coupon discount form my union and she replied and said; OH Yeah. I FORGOT about that. she started to use the calculator again jotting down amounts and I am looking at her, saying what is she doing so long and then she said it will be $487. One hundred dollar difference,, did she need the calculator tor that. What I am puzzled about is the cost of everything. first of all the glasses should be free with my 1180 discount and I did not add any fancy addition to the glasses for it to be so much. I started out trying to save with my CWA union discount and I spent way more than expected. I am not sure why it was so much and I did not get an itemized bill from her only a receipt of payment. When I go to pick up my glasses I will be sure to ask for the itemized bill to show exactly what I am being charged for. I do not know why it was so much and what they do with the extra charge or where it goes?????? Thanks for reading my review.
