Every single time I went in, the staff was rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. Appointments they claimed were scheduled were not actually booked, which created unnecessary stress and confusion. I constantly had to advocate for myself because no one clearly explained what appointments I was there for or what was supposed to happen next. The insurance issues were also a nightmare. I am a veteran and receive maternity care through the VA. Their office spoke directly with my VA maternity care coordinator, yet I still had problems with my insurance at almost every visit. Instead of trying to help or find a solution, the attitude I got was basically, "Sorry, nothing we can do." That is unacceptable, especially when dealing with a pregnant patient in a vulnerable position. Toward the end of my pregnancy, I actually started canceling appointments because going into that office caused me more stress than reassurance. There were days I left in tears. The front desk staff showed no empathy, no professionalism, and no willingness to do anything beyond the bare minimum. As for Dr. Bruce, I did not have major issues with him personally, but I did feel dismissed at times. I understand insurance and front desk problems are not directly his job, but they are happening in his office, under his name. When I brought up issues, I did not feel like anyone cared enough to address them. I also had extremely severe varicose veins during pregnancy. Dr. Bruce did not seem very concerned, and I had to push to get a referral. When I finally saw the vein specialist, she was very concerned and told me they were the worst veins she had seen in about 20 years. Overall, I left this office feeling unsupported, dismissed, and stressed during one of the most vulnerable times of my life. I wish the people working there cared more about the type of care they are supposed to be providing. Pregnancy is already overwhelming. Patients should not have to fight the front desk, fight insurance confusion, and fight to be taken seriously at every visit.

I actually had no plans to have a doula for my first pregnancy…read moreuntil I was at a birthing class and found out that I was one of the only ones there who hadn't secured a doula. After doing some research, I found that my insurance covered doula services, so I immediately began researching doulas. I came across Noleen and noticed her across the board 5 star reviews. At this point, I was 36 weeks pregnant and thought "There is no way this woman is going to be available for my delivery." I reached out to her on a Friday night and she responded back within a few hours! We briefly corresponded over the weekend and had a meeting set up for the next week. I'm SO grateful she was available. I enjoyed learning from her and hearing her balanced perspective about labor and delivery. It quickly became apparent that as a woman going through all of this the first time, having a doula was a must! By the time I went into labor a few weeks later, I texted Noleen, who was in labor with another patient. I was heartbroken to think she may miss my labor. She was able to send a backup doula to my birthing center, but that was only needed for a few hours before Noleen went from her other labor into mine (with maybe a few hours rest in between). Noleen showed up in the morning on a Tuesday and my baby wasn't born until the following day (Wednesday) at 9:23am. So to think Noleen went from one labor to the next with very minimal rest shows that she is superwoman! My labor wasn't an easy one and I REALLY struggled to relax and just allow everything to loosen up. I would get so tense, which ended up prolonging labor to the point where I requested to be transferred from the Birthing Center to a hospital so that I could get an epidural. I was scared that Noleen, my birthing team and my spouse would be disappointed in me, but Noleen was so reassuring that this was the right move for me. I felt supported and understood. There were many moments in the labor where it was so helpful to have Noleen there to answer questions, provide perspective and expertise. Which was incredibly helpful for my spouse as well. It felt like he and Noleen were partners in the birthing process. It's now something I tell all expecting couples is that the Doula is there for the husband just as much as she's there for the wife. My husband really appreciated having her there to ask questions (and vent about the prolonged process!). I also got the package with the photography and the photos Noleen took are so very special to us. It's actually hard to narrow down which ones to frame. There is one that Noleen captured of my husband crying immediately after the baby was born. It's something I didn't notice or even see because I was so focused on the baby. But every time I see that picture, I tear up (currently tearing up as I'm writing this!). I never would have known that moment even existed without Noleen capturing it! We also had her do the postpartum visit with photos and I've sent them to so many family members and they all agree that Noleen did a fantastic job! I could go on and on, but I want others to read this, so I don't want to be too lengthy :). I will definitely be reaching out to Noleen as soon as I find out I'm pregnant with baby #2 (God willing!).

Noleen helped keep me grounded through transition, encouraged me through pushing and captured moments that will forever be amazing to my family and me. Coming from someone who was hoping to avoid doctors and medical offices as much as possible during this process, I have thankfully felt very supported by Dr. Merrell while being seen by him. My pregnancy is high-risk, so l am being cared for by both Premier and an MFM, but Dr. Merrell has been incredibly optimistic and encouraging. We leave each appointment (of which there have been many) feeling informed, heard, and supported. We always look forward to seeing him! I haven't encountered the same issues with the front office staff that others have mentioned. Every time we've been in, they've been respectful and organized. We've never had issues with not being able to contact them or schedule appointments, so they may have improved in that respect. We have not yet met Dr. Hervey who will be delivering our baby, but are looking forward to meeting him because we have heard nothing but great things. Update: I have now had my baby, and Dr. Hervey and his whole team were nothing short of fantastic throughout the entire process. Childbirth is the most vulnerable, intense, and worrisome thing someone could experience, and Dr. Hervey handled it with so much compassion and professionalism. He cares for everyone involved and makes sure that patient autonomy comes first. Even in a high risk situation he prioritized my desires, allowing me to labor naturally until it wasn't an option anymore. I would highly recommend Premier to my pregnant friends. I don't think there is another OB in Phoenix that even comes close to the level of care provided here.

I came in with clear birth preferences and a lot of trust in this practice. That trust was completely broken. My labor experience was disorganized and distressing. The nurses struggled to get in contact with Michelle, and I labored for an extended period without my provider present until it was finally time to push. While I understand that birth can be unpredictable, I ended up experiencing nearly every intervention I had hoped to avoid. More importantly, I did not feel heard, respected, or advocated for at any point. The most alarming part of my experience was postpartum care. I experienced severe postpartum mental health symptoms and did not receive appropriate support, guidance, or urgency from Michelle or the office. Honestly, I didn't even felt believed. My condition escalated to the point where I was nearly in psychosis and close to taking my own life. That level of crisis requires immediate, competent care, and it simply was not there. Communication with this office is extremely poor and, frankly, unsafe. Calls go unanswered, messages are not returned, and I have been unable to get responses even for critical needs like short-term disability paperwork. At times, it has genuinely felt like I was being ignored or blocked, which is unacceptable in any medical setting--especially postpartum. I ultimately sought care from another OB, who informed me that my tear had not been properly repaired. This added unnecessary physical trauma on top of an already deeply distressing experience. To be fair, I did have positive interactions with Dr. Hervey and Dr. Merrill, who both seemed competent and compassionate, as well as a few kind nurses plus Melissa and Carrie. However, those isolated experiences do not make up for the overall lack of care, responsiveness, and accountability I experienced. I made the decision to switch to Premier OB based on a trusted recommendation, hoping for better, more supportive care. Instead, I left with trauma, complications, and a complete loss of trust in this practice.

I worked with Princess who is the founder of Bellibind - she made me feel so comfortable, relaxed, and confident during the whole journey. This clinic has a duty as one of the only transgender clinics I've been able to find in the Mesa Area. And they've failed to serve the LGBTQ community who desperately need care right now. I don't have months of my estrogen to wait. So I will be looking for care elsewhere.

I received to help or concern from the team about the things I was hearing. Then again, if they are performing such invasive procedures on fully awake patients, I don't imagine they would be concerned with what I am hearing. Lately, they just seem to have been dropping the ball. I called to ask for my prescription to be approved, the receptionist was rather rude and rushed, as if she did not have time for her own patient. And to top it off, it has been over a week, and still no prescription. I will be taking my business somewhere else.
