If you fancy treating yourself to a dessert after shopping in nearby Croydon centre, here is the place to go. Affordable treats around £3 for a milkshake. Don't go here expecting to get anything savoury though as it is pure desserts (my kind of restaurants). Probably aimed at the teenage market so if you want to give it a go, best to grab a child to go with and connect with your inner child whilst pretending to hate every minute of being there :) Prompt service so no waiting around, no real interaction with the waiting staff but if teenagers are your main clients then can understand why! Size of desserts are on the larger size so wear your all you can eat top and don't eat too much before hand! Watch out for the 50p charge on top if you want to pay by card!!

They make fresh waffles, crepes, hot cookie dough, sundaes and cakes. On my most recent visit, I had a crepe smothered in Nutella and covered in fresh strawberries. Absolutely lush. It was about £4.50 which I don't think is too bad however you could make it at home! I went in my lunch hour and despite telling them that we were in a hurry, they took ages as they said they were serving it together. And then when mine arrived they had forgotten the strawberries so I sent it back as I wanted my strawberries! They did put the strawberries on asap but I was a bit miffed and had to rush my food as I was getting late. Having said that, it is just a dessert place which is fairly affordable. The portion was a good size and I was satisfied.

As I walked in I was ushered to a table straight away and had a look at the menu which to my surprise there was a breakfast and lunch menu which all seemed overpriced but I thought I would give them the benefit if the doubt with the ingredient that have been used. So I ordered the mushroom and cheese crossaint with a vanilla ice cream milkshake which I was informed the ice cream was homemade and the vanilla seeds were visible. The food arrived first and looked delicious but tasted very bland with the side salad. When the milkshake arrived it was in a small glass and was mainly foam and no visible vanilla seeds to be seen. So when approaching the manager about this she was unapologetic and brought the icecream over to show there is no seeds in the icecream. So if you want to be over charged ie my bill came to £9, then come here!

The cafe decor is nice and clean. The staff are incompetent bordering on rude, they are not interested in you or for offering a service, leave a tip I don't think so. I have been on 2 occasions trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but not again, this boat has sailed.

After slurping down some amazing milkshakes on my trips to the USA, I'm still seeking my go to…read moreBritish milkshake. Perhaps, it's not part of our culture or heritage but I'm finding that certain food trends are making their way slowly but surely across the pond to London - witness the rise of frozen yoghurt stores and Mexican food. My prediction is that the next big thing in American food - mobile food trucks - may be next. Remember you read it here first. I spied Shakeaway after a meal at nearby Cosmo and despite eating my body weight in sushi at the buffet, my curiosity still got the better of me. I was surprised to find that despite the claim that Shakeaway is the world's biggest milkshake bar company, it was actually founded in Bournemouth in 1999. They share a retail unit with Subway. My first instinct on seeing their claim that they have 180 flavours was to say,"Yeah, right." However, a perusal of their menu board soon made me eat my words (or perhaps should be, drink my words!). They will literally crush anything into your milkshake - if you can name a favourite confection, cake, biscuit or sweet, they will almost certainly have it including indulgent things like Lindt chocolate, Bakewell tart and strawberry laces . Their shakes are made with vanilla ice cream but there is a frozen yoghurt option, which also forms the base for their fruity shakes. For the lactose-intolerant, they've thoughtfully made soya milk and soya ice cream available. The creations can be finished off wit toppings such as popping candy or popcorn if so desired. They also have novelty items like hot milkshakes and their most expensive creation is the millionaires milkshake, which is made with Green & Blacks 85% cocoa solid chocolate and real 23 carat gold flakes. Unfortunately, my first 2 choices were unavailable - no hot shakes at all that day and they were out of lychee. So, I settled for a classic chocolate malt milkshake, which was very good. This could just be the place which becomes my go to milkshake place but for now, they lose a star for not having my first 2 choices available.

Penguin!!…read more Well, the Emperor restaurant in Stonecot Hill has a regal reputation and whatever day of the week you plan to dine here, I would strongly advise booking as this restaurant is very popular. They have quite a unique menu - you pay one price and you can then order any dishes from their extensive menu as often as you want. Yes, you really can. There is a wide choice - there are all the usual Anglo-Canto favourites as well as more unusual dishes such as prawns on sugar cane. I've been here many times with friends and it's so great that everyone can order what they like and if they want more, just order more. The starters are particularly strong. Then most people would follow with crispy aromatic duck with pancakes or Mongolian lamb in lettuce leaves as a middle course. Main courses can be served with rice or noodles. One dish that you should have is the sizzling beef - super tender. Included in the price for dessert are lychees and toffee banana or apple with vanilla ice cream. You can order special ice cream creations for extra charge. The staff are always very friendly and will be happy to help you select dishes. I also like the calming videos of scenes from diving on their big flat screen TVs Not as cute an emperor penguins but an excellent Chinese restaurant

They have a set price menu which you can order as much as you like from. You won't find any cheap fillers here, it's all great quality, fresh seafood and meats with plenty of veggie options. Also included in the price is aromatic duck (1/4, 1/2, whole depending on party size). A couple of recommendations are the salt & pepper squid - (oh, so good!) and peached king prawns - they're addictive. The price is £17 for adults and £11 for children. This is great value and we will keep coming back. You'll need to book as this place gets very busy. Your booking is also for a 2 hr sitting, so it's not ideal for a long meal - but definitely worth a visit! They also do a buffet on a Sunday which is always popular.
