My family and I stopped by this location at 9pm on a weekday night and it was fairly empty. We were…read moregreeted which was pleasant and seated quickly. The seats had massive holes in them and were in awful shape. We were given adequate time to decide what we wanted and we all ordered. Each ice cream came out one at a time which seemed slightly odd or maybe that's a good thing? I ordered the kids sundae thinking it would be small as I had just eaten dinner and was looking for something tiny to enjoy but I was in awe as the waitress handed me a massive sundae! I couldn't even finish it, how do they expect a child to finish it???!!! Apparently they do ubereats, I would like to see how that works next time.

Wandering up the ethnically diverse Upper Tooting Road, I had to rub my eyes twice when I spied…read moreAfters Original. The staff in this desserts restaurant looked Asian but the decor and bright pink theme is definitely American retro, down to the pink motorcycle in the window and the booth seating As it was a warm-ish day (in London, we have to take all the heat we cam get this summer!) and driven by my Yelp instinct to try new places in order to review them, I popped in. Their tag line on the shop window was "Because everybody likes dessert" and they've certainly tried to be all things to all men and women. The main thing which catches your eye when you step in is a large ice cream display with a healthy number of flavours to choose from. Interestingly, they also had kulfi, Indian ice cream on sale - not sure if this is just for the Tooting branch in order to keep in with local tastes The ice cream can be taken away in cones or tubs but is also available in a bewildering array of speciality ice cream creations including old favourites like Knickerbocker Glory. They also offer something I've only seen in the States so far - Cold Stone where they will mash in some additions to your favourite ice cream on a cold stone in order to enhance it. The ice cream can also go into milkshakes They also have a cake counter and I saw signs for waffles and also hot puddings like sticky toffee pudding On this occasion, I walked out with a single scoop of mango kulfi in a cone for a very reasonably priced £1.50. It was smooth but I could have done with mango flavour My mum loves ice cream and I may have to bring her here when she's next visiting from Malaysia to give it a proper try

How very sad to see this once great café change in such a horrible way. It's always been a…read morefavourite spot for KC students and townies alike, and it'll likely continue to be, though maybe not for me. When my friend and I came here today, we were greeted and led to the table, the usual. Once seated, the waitress placed two, surprisingly new menus on the table. I immediately began looking through them to see if anything has changed, and it sure has. My personal favourite coffee sundae? Gone. The quality of Apple Crumbled Waffle? Decreased. I don't think I recognise a good half of the menu, if not more. I'd never imagine I'd be writing a negative review for Creams, of all places. I suppose the only thing holding me back from giving it two stars is nostalgia.

The waiter on shift was pleasant and immediately greeted us (a friend and me) and offered us a table. We politely declined as we were needing to head home and were taking away. This visit was around 7 o'clock in the evening, and there were three members of staff behind the counter plus the waiter, but only one other man paid any attention to us. A moderate £4~ for a two scoop ice cream was paid, and we were handed a ticket each to claim our ice creams further down the counter. The man who took our money didn't realise that none of the others were paying attention so we were stood for a few minutes trying to make eye contact with a staff member until the same member of staff came to serve our food. Most of the flavours were missing from the display, and the member of staff didn't know which flavours were which (he had to try the chilli ice cream, declaring it as mint then later admitting it was chilli). We left as soon as we could because of the ridiculously bad service with four visible staff members and one other customer in the whole of the shop. The ice cream was tasty though!

So what happened was I ordered cookie dough and they didn't tell me the plate was hot at all, I think they should say, but I mean it could've been my mistake. They gave us ice cream for me to put the burn on but then he gave us oil and said to spread that on the burn. Oil isn't good for burns it keeps in the heat so that made me a bit mad. Ambience. So that atmosphere of this place was kind of horrible. The chairs were ripped. It looked really sketchy. So I wouldn't recommend. Sorry.

Picking Up The Pieces…read more On such a sad day, the morning after riots that were comparable I think to those in Brixton in the 80s, there was only one thing to for me to do, apart from joining the community in helping to clear up ; and that was to support a local business with my custom. Afters Original has come to Croydon and is No 6 of the chain they have so far rolled out in Walthamstow, Leyton, ilford, Forest Gate and Tooting. This dessert emporium is supposed to be an experience from the start. First up the ice cream, which supposed to be the heart of this sugartastic treat. I ordered one scoop of banoffe. Taste test, a mid-tone pureed banana mix creamed with a hint of vanilla, not bad, but to be honest I've had better Thrifty's ice cream in the US - amazing ! Then I tried a caramel scoop. Not good, A disappointing synthetic swirl of sugar that was vaguely nutty and even less tempting, something I could easily have lived without. The menu fortunately isn't just limited to ice cream, the enjoyment of which, on balance might just be down to the flavours I picked. Sundaes, old school milkshakes, smoothies, waffles, fruit juices and the inevitable coffee and cake section are also on offer. What was more exciting about the place was its interiors. A regular Wonka Scrummy Delight ! Bubblegum pink and black leather double seats and cheeky sharing booths (very cute if you're on a date!) with chrome rigged bottoms, were coupled with large black, glossy framed mirrors on the walls. In the corner a modern juke box, whose neon lights and hideous music made me instantly crave the real deal. My tip for the owners - If you are going with 50s Americana as your theme stick to it - go nuts, go vintage, but please get it right ! So would I go again? One scoop of ice cream is £1.95 which is on about right. Yes I would, but I have to find an ice cream flavour of theirs I like, which should be easy enough since there are over 30 to choose from ! If you have children or are related to some...keep this place under wraps and unleash it as a treat on them.
