We had visited a few other stores before coming here and the service we received here was 10 times better than the other stores. They helped us look for available dresses in the sizes and colour we needed and ordered them in a timely manner. They also offer in-house alterations after you buy the dress. I had an order that was supposed to have been shipped oct 14th I've emailed them no response so today i file a claim on Instagram. A few hours later i get a refund email. Very deceptive practices. A dress we had purchased was marketed as a "limited make" costing 400 not even a week later. We notice the exact same price on the website is almost sale like price, 200 dollars less then the original cost! The explanation being: "The producers then decide to mass produce" The only compensation we receieved was a bangle. How is that fair to the consumer? It was also extremely difficult to get any help. Staff today at May 19th around 2:20pm was ignoring us in the front of the desk. Still waiting as of 2:30 writing the review... only 1 person when theres upwards of 10 people in and about.. Last minute rush... I was looking for a dress. Spoke to many couture designers and/or left messages for some. No one had my size! Also, some never even returned my call! Then Boris, from AFTER FIVE, called! although he did not have the size I requested, he suggested a beautiful alternative. He had it shipped from the USA to Toronto that same day, and I got it in 2 days..... .. That dress, which I thought was my size, was too big. I panicked and called Boris's office in BC, Canada. He had another size sent that very day - again I got it in 2 days. There were some alterations needed on the second dress and Boris offered to compensate me for 1/2 of the cost! I found their website today after going to multiple bridal stores in Calgary only to find out the style of dress I wanted to try on (Mother of the Bride) was not in stock. Stores mostly cater to brides, grads nowadays so the rest of us are left out. Boris was absolutely fantastic......guiding me through different designers' dresses and their fit relative to his opinion on what he thought would look nice on me based on a style # I had given him and my shape (short, athletic build and definitely NOT a standard size). He deserves a 10-10 for his dedication and attention to detail for what I was looking for. I did see another dress from La Femme that I liked and we discussed it as to how the dress would fit on my shape. I placed the order and will do another review once the dress arrives. Best customer service I ever had. I live in Québec and since there is not a lot of prom dresses stores here I had no choice but to order online. I was a little bit scared at first that the sizing would not be right, but right after placing my order the company emailed me to tell me that I should size down. I bought a dress online at the beginning of December 2108; the dress was delivered to the store in Oakridge mall and I was able to pick it up 2 days after it was received. First of all, the dress was horrible, nothing like on the website; the website showed a very pale pink, while the real dress was so pink that my eyes almost hurt. I didn't like it so I decided to return it on the spot. They charged me almost $ 60 storage fees (!!!) when I told them that I am returning it and my reasons. I don't know if this is bad customer service or this store simply decided to offer mediocre service to a COLORED CUSTOMER? If you're a person of color, don't bother, they will make you feel like you're begging for service. I came to the store looking for two MOB dresses for my mom to wear to my upcoming wedding. When I first showed up, the manager took my details and said he would be calling me a couple days later as he had to confirm with the designer, I didn't receive a phone call and so I drove there after work only to find out that he hadn't even asked the designer yet. And so he took my details (again!) and said he would call. Five days later, no phone call, and so I called and yes, as you can imagine, he hadn't called the designer yet... and yes, he asked for my details again.... So I went to their sister store in Delta, I received better service there and we were talking about ordering literally the next day. Finally, I ordered two dresses.... and yes, to this day, I am still waiting for the gentleman to give me a call back about the dress I initially wanted (!) Fast forward to today, I show up to the store, and I get handed two dresses, one is a completely different color and style, he basically decided to order a different dress for me, without bothering to consult me. So I ended up with a ruined day in the middle of a heat wave, feeling discriminated, crying in my car and with a mom with no dress. I won't be returning, and I will never in my life recommend this store to anyone. Unless they want to feel insulted.. then yes, I will direct them here. I wish I could give negative stars. UPDATE: I went back in today and after almost 45 minutes of arguing - including the manager trying to feed me a false narrative about a chat we had (mind you, we never spoke for more than a minute at a time because he never called me back each time he promised he would) to saying he had emails... which he did not have. The manager simply would not admit that he was wrong and instead had a line up of excuses: telling me that I did in fact order the wrong dress (not sure how as the dress is my wedding color), telling me that "he is helping me and a doing a favor" - talk about privilege, diminishing me to not knowing my colors and saying that I ordered a color that the designer doesn't carry and pointing at the dress and asking "did you think this color is eggplant?" (pointing at the right dress but playing mind games), raising his finger at me and asking "what do I do with a dress that size? I do not carry dresses in that size" meaning he doesn't like to dress plus size women. All this spoken in an extremely condescending tone. I finally got my FULL REFUND but I am so SHOCKED at how a person who thinks so low of women dresses them in such beautiful garments. read more

I order a Tarik Ediz dress from After five and I received fast and amazing packaging and in original Tarik Ediz packaging and the price was cheaper from local shops in Toronto. I bought a second dress (Scala) then Brad showed amazing customer experience by giving me a call right after I placed the order to ensure that the size will fit perfectly and asked me for my measurements precisely to make sure I have a perfect dress before the event time. Again both dresses fits perfectly and it was delivered on time. I totally recommend this website, I am amazed with the customer experience. There an older chinese woman that works here that is extremely rude. She kept following me around the store implying that i can't afford the dresses. She said i couple afford the more "simpler dresses". When i grabbed a couple to try on she told me" those are slim fit dresses they're not going to fit". I told her im pretty sure I know what my size is. I can't help but think she was doing all this because of the color of my skin. I tried on one dress and left because of the terrible customer service. When i was leaving she went to go check if they were all in there, implying that she thinks I stole. The rating of one star is based on the complete incompetence and lack of regard for costumer service observed by the owner Brad Chenkis. I agree partly with the previous reviews that Brad is lovely and accommodating on purchase of merchandise but once you are out the door that's were the pleasantries end. I came in for alterations after a purchase of five high end garments was given assurances that alterations would not be a issue and that I was a valued client. Unfortunately when I returned Brad nor the staff cared to remember me or my purchasing loyalty. Brad in particular became disgruntled and aggressive when I tried to discuss alteration options. I felt insulted and unwelcome needless to say I shall not be frequenting this boutique again, but truly hope this owner and staff learn to respect their costumers. read more

I'm getting married in Vegas- and my closest girlfriends and I thought this was a great opportunity to do something different. I decided I would like to get married in a gold sequin dress. I found one online that I love but would like to see it in person first if at all possible. It's by a popular US designer Faviana. After contacting Faviana they sent me with a list of providers in Canada After Five being the main one. So my friend and I stop in this past Tues. and an elderly sales lady greets us focusing more on my friend, we tell her it's me who's looking and her face drops. Now I'm a full figured woman with all the curves going on. I was instantly greeted with an 'oh I don't think we have what you are looking for' I then push on as they carry this designer and I have an item number- so she takes us up to the counter with the young man at the computer she explains what I've told her and gives him the item number. He seemed happy enough to look it up and actually oohh'd and awe'd over the dress. He checked availability and said it was fully instock but not shipping till Jan as its in the 2013 collection. He sort of beats around the bush about how they don't bring in sequin dresses because they don't sell-- yet from where I'm standing I can see at least 6 different ones, all size 2-6 of course. Then he makes an excuse to bolt to the back, just before he vanishes into some other world he calls back stating they have not added that dress to their order nor do they plan too. Looking at the elderly sales lady she then spends 20 mins telling me what they could do to bring the dress in for me but only if I pay for everything 100% up front, but even then we won't really do it. My friend and I looked at each other kinda confused, I then said 'So what you are saying is I might as well go down to the states and buy it there if I want that dress?' She actually said yes that would be a better option for you! I left that store completely discouraged that I will not be able to find my dress because I'm plus size. This is not how a person is supposed to feel leaving a store. That was my first and last visit to After Five. read more

Terrible customer service! I purchased a gown in September and told it would be in, in October and i never heard from them! In January I called them to find out what happened and they had no answer for me other then that they would order another one and they would call me to pick up the dress. They never called me, i went into the the store and they told me it came in. I tried the dress on and it had snags all on the front it looked like a used dress. I didn't pay $500 for a ruined gown. There is a nice selection of dresses but the service is severely lacking. We were ignored for a long period of time before someone finally came over to ask us if we wanted to try on dresses. The alterations department was horrible! Not only did they mess up the alterations, they tried to blame in on me saying that I had gained too much weight when I didn't. When we tried to talk to them about the mistake, the alterations lady just walked away, muttering something under her breath. Rather than having a manager step in to help ease the tension, the other sales people in the dressing room just went on to reassure the other customers that I just gained too much weight and that their alterations department was the best available (all these comments were said very loudly so that even the customers in the main area of the store could hear it). It was the most horrifying experience. When we asked to see a manager because we were told that the alterations would be made until we were happy with the dress, we were told the manager was not available. I rather drive out to Champagne & Lace in Abbotsford rather than go back to After Five. read more

Located inside Oakridge mall, this store sells dresses: anything from day to night, mostly formal, short dresses, long dresses, you name it, but oh sorry no Cheap dresses. Their cheapest dress is probably still 200$+. I must admit some of their dresses are absolutely gorgeous with the blingy and sparkly sequines all over but oh dear its at least 700$. Yikes! However I do still recommend you go check out the place if you are looking for bridesmaid dresses, wedding night gowns, dresses for formal or cocktail parties etc. Beware that the renovations look like its from the '80's. read more

Happy I came here. I bought a beautiful cocktail dress from them, perfect for what I was looking for. I have never scene a store with so many dresses before. They had a great selection for all ages, my mother was also trying on dresses. I would say anyone looking for a grad dress, or fancy cocktail dress should definitely checkout After five. The gentleman who worked there was very nice, he asked what I was looking for and what my size was and came out from the back with a handful of dresses he thought I might like. Way too many dresses that it is overwhelming. You can't take them off the racks easily 'cause they're crammed together. Plus the sizes are limited to small sample sizes. They need to carry way less dresses and in varied sizes. Considering the cost of a lot of these dresses, you would think better care would be taken in their presentation. read more

I've only been to this store twice (in Tsawassen Mills), and both times received terrible service. Employees are indifferent and not knowledgeable about store inventory/policy. I was mostly ignored while I was browsing and trying on dresses, and they knew less than I did about what was on the racks. Then I tried to return a dress which they wouldn't take back (they had to call a manager to see if they could) even for store credit. I've never felt so unvalued as a consumer. I ordered a dress from there and I am really satisfied of their costumer service. I ordered it on the phone because I'm French Canadian, so it was easier for us this way. The employees were really kind to us even if the laguage barrier was a bit of a problem. They helped us with the size and even confirmed by e-mail our shipping informations to be sure that we didn't misunderstood each other since my English isn't perfect. My dress came in a month later (wich is pretty good since the store is in Vancouver and I live in Quebec) and everything about it was perfect! It was exactly what I ordered so I didn't have to return it, but the paper explaining how to return it was also pretty clear, even for someone who doesn't have English as a mother tongue. I ordered a dress for my daughter's prom online from After Five (going into the store was not an option, we live in Toronto), and I ordered a size too big. Brad was so friendly, responsive and helpful! He helped confirm the size we should order with the manufacturer, and although he didn't have it in stock and the manufacturer wasn't producing new sizes in time for my daughter's prom, Brad worked miracles and managed to source it for me. DON'T GO HERE! I found a beautiful grad dress here and fell completely in love with it. I bought it and went back later to get measured for alterations. They told me it would be ready in March and I went to pick it up in April. They couldn't find it and after lots of back and forth they told me I needed to come in and try to find a new dress. They lost it. How on earth do you manage to lose a dress? They had no explanation for me regarding what happened. Ridiculous. I went back to see if I could find another dress (at this point my grad was in 10 days). When I walked in, a lady approached me saying "You must be the lucky girl who gets to find another beautiful dress!" which is fucked up because I don't know how them losing my dress makes me lucky. I didn't necessarily like any but there was one that I would wear if I had no other option. I brought it to the till and the owner was helping my mom and I. He refunded my old dress and then told me this new dress would be $640. There was no way I was going to pay that for a dress I didn't even like. They offered no compensation for the fact that they fucked up big time. I told the owner that I didn't want it and he told me that I loved it. Apparently he thinks he can read minds. He can't. He offered me 20% off and then 25% off which would make the dress $480. I still didn't like the dress enough to pay that for it. I gave up and went home with no dress and no compensation for the fact that they ruined my grad. They never even gave me an explanation. Thanks for nothing :) read more

Not only was I given directly to the owner, Boris, when I called, but he was extremely professional and understanding of all my questions. The dresses are pricey yes, but that is why it's called evening and formal wear! For this area, no other stores carry the quality, selection and types of dresses that After Five carries. i ordered my daughter's prom dress online from this store. We live in Nova Scotia. One of the dresses my daughter was considering was actually $50 cheaper on After Five's website. I measured her and ordered her dress according to the size chart. It arrived in less than a month. The dress was true to size and the image on the site. It fit her perfectly. I was very happy with the service - a personal email to confirm the dress was ordered and when it would be arriving in Nova Scotia. Then a follow up email to say the dress had shipped with a tracking number attached. And then arrival! It was pretty seamless. in reviewing some of the other websites out there, I was concerned. A lot of people order from foreign websites and receive poorly made dresses that don't look like the pictures - different colour, cheaper fabric. They also end up having to pay extra in duty and a lot more for shipping. As this store is in Canada, prices were CAD, which was great. Plus free shipping was definitely a bonus! Ordered two dresses. The dresses in the store were the same exact sizes I needed. I asked them to order me a brand new dresses since I didn't want the ones that had been tried a million times. They said they would order a new one. They made me wait three weeks for the dresses. When I went to pick them up one was damaged and dirty. This dress was the one that was in store that people tried. Since it was damaged they had to order a new. So I waited another week. The other dress was also the one in the store. They had NOT ordered a new dress. I knew this because the tags on the dress had been taped and worn out. When I went in the shop they insisted that they ordered me a new dress. I will never ever shop there.
