The contractor(s) from New Image Restoration removed and disposed of approx. 2' x 4' x 2' x 4' of the ceiling (sheetrock) that exhibited signs of mold, treated the exposed wood with a mold and mildew killer, identified the source of a leak, and recommended that I hire a plumber. I found the quality of the work to be satisfactory however, the identification of the leak was inaccurate, as no pipes were found to be leaking. The contractors were courteous and presented identification upon request before entering my home. Nevertheless, I consider the cost of the work particularly expensive for seniors given that it represents only (1) component of a (3) part job. Additionally, I was asked to sign a blank contract that stipulated a 50% charge, the cost was not explicitly detailed in the agreement. I had to inquire further to clarify this matter. Despite the fact that New Image Restoration was aware of my insurance company's $500 deductible, I was required to pay (2) both payments of $500 plus. Moreover, I began to receive multiple invoices totaling over $1,500 for services such as drywall repair, patchwork, priming, and painting, which were not performed by New Image Restoration or Super Steamer Carpet. It was also concerning to discover that New Image Restoration billed me through a subcontractor, Super Steamer Carpet, without prior notification regarding the involvement of subcontractors. Ultimately, I found it necessary to hire multiple contractors to complete the work on the ceiling mold issue. This experience has underscored the importance of inquiring about the entire scope of a project, including a comprehensive written description and a complete estimation of costs, accounting for any deductions.

Our detached garage burnt to the ground in late January 2021. Along with it, the entire back of…read moreour house melted down to the plywood, all windows melted, back door and storm door melted, deck damaged, fence burnt, half of a nearby shed burnt, light fixtures, gutters, soffits, 2 cars, 3 motorcycles and all garage contents with 40 years of tools and equipment all lost. Eastern Diversified Services swooped in to the rescue to clean up all the mess left from the fire. They fixed all the damage: replaced the fence, ripped out burnt shrubberies, removed a HUGE giant 300+ year old oak tree, repaired and re-sided the shed, replaced all the siding, windows and doors, repaired the deck, and completely rebuilt the garage from the foundation up. They even replaced the gravel in the driveway that was damaged from all the heavy equipment that was needed for this job. Yes, it took 10 1/2 months to complete all of this, but considering the COVID pandemic and supply-chain issues, that is perfectly reasonable. Their crews (so many, I lost track!) were all totally professional, efficient, thorough, incredibly hard-working and skillful! They were even friendly to my yappy dog who wanted to "greet" them every time a crew showed up to work that day. I very much appreciate their courtesy and attention to detail. Their boss, Mark Guinther, was always on top of everything going on and kept us informed all along the way with the status of what was to happen next, permits he was securing for all the work, arranging for 3rd parties when needed and hiring an excellent engineer to do the blueprints for the new garage. Being a Saturday, they could not obtain a replacement for my faulty shower handle cartridge, but they did temorarily disable the cartridge until it could be replaced the following Monday. I had called another company out the previous day, but they left with the faulty cartridge still leaking. So I appreciated that Roto-Rooter made the extra effort to disable the cartridge. They finished the job the following Monday on time and efficiently. I will not hesitate to use them again for my plumbing needs.

After arrival, huge holes were put into our baseboard by the team for drying and the floor was ripped up. We had asked to spare the other side of the room floor and some of the boards were broken making it hard to match and blend. I think little care was taken and more demo done than needed. There was no paperwork discussing prices before work was completed. After the 3 days of commercial fans to dry I requested they get their equipment and give an invoice (800$!). We had to followup multiple times for the invoice and for them to floor match. I was not willing to go forward since things were broken regardless of request and I was worried the bills for repair would be substantial.

The ground floor of the townhouse that incurred the backup is small (400sf) so there was not much space to move the contents out of the way. Ian also explained the insurance limitations for a level 3 backup when the homeowner insurance as written neglects to reference the HOA master policy. Overall EC Restoration works better with homeowners than the big national water remediators, which is why our adjuster uses this business. We are lucky to have them for this (hopefully) once in a lifetime event.
