But I was fired within my first 3 days of training because I wasn't "timely enough". To be fair, timeliness has always been a big struggle of mine. In this case though, I was only there 3 days! The first day I was late clocking in because the office building set up was confusing and I had no idea where to go to clock in and everyone was busy so I had to wait to ask for help; so this wasn't even my fault. Then for the next 2 days I had to drive to a two new locations and was not familiar with the area or the traffic in the area which made me a bit late. I think the latest I was was about 15 min because I was sitting in traffic. According to their handbook, 3 instances of lateness would result in a talk and possibly a write-up. They called me when I arrived to the location on the third day, sent me home, and then texted me later to say they were firing me. I texted back, respectfully explaining the reasons I was late, that at least one instance was completely out of my control (1st day), that the handbook said I'd have a 2nd chance, etc. and then respectfully asking to at least finish out the training week, I'd leave very early, etc. etc. They completely ignored me. So they don't follow their own handbook, clearly lied about urgently needing employees, and wouldn't even call me to fire me. I heard nothing from them for 2 years until the manager (the one who fired me) included me in a group chat, even addressing me by name, saying I hadn't trained yet but he wanted to include me in the conversation. It was so bizarre. After I said "I don't know why I am in this chat, I do not work for this company". He texted me privately an hour or so later saying "apologies for that". I understand that he probably mixed up contacts or something unintentional, but overall my experience with this manager felt unfair, bizarre, and unprofessional. I feel like I may have dodged a bullet.
