I was asked to pay a deposit of 40 dollars. My appointment was at 6 so that was to secure my spot. I'm probably not the best when it comes to waiting but I got there at 5:45 bc I believe in being a bit earlier than the said appointment so that the stylist isn't waiting. Well, I I didn't get my hair started on until 6:19.. That would probably be the only thing I complain about besides scheduling at the same time a customer would be getting their hair completed. Needless to say, Victoria did an amazing job on my sew-in and I would highly recommend this place for sew-in with leave out. I noticed one of the other stylists drop her comb and pick it up and put it right back into the clients hair. I was quoted one price through text and then another after the service. My hair is neat and pretty but the experience was not worth it. I usually get Senegales twist by this time I opted for box braids I'm so glad I did they look so great and was a lot faster then the twist even though the twist are worth the time they have always turned out looking so good and last me for months especially when I deploy. I initially asked for two feed in braids. The shop wasn't packed like a lot of other shops I've been too before . I was the only one. Ok, great I'm thinking. I get there and she tells me it might be hard to do the two braids on my hair. Keep in mind the style that I'm asking for her to do is the same style I just took out of my head so I wasn't expecting to pay more than $30 for two braids(stylist in Maryland did amazing for $30). Of course they suggest a style that costs more, $85 for four braids which is about $21.25 per braid. I like my braids but my ends were a bit raggid. Also when it was time to pay, they said they don't accept card which was an inconvenience. They store down the walkway had an atm, but there went any tip I planned on giving them. This place was great. I've only been once, but I will definitely be going to this place everytime I want to get braids. They really do quality work here. This shop is a cool braiding shop/boutique, they have very nice clothing and bags that you can look at as you get your hair braided. When I went, I had to wait for about 20 minutes so I was able to look at the nice clothing as well as the hair they had hanging on the walls. Once they started working on my braids, however, it only took about 3 and a half hours for medium sized box braids(I had two people working on braiding my hair). This place is great, but the pricing is a little off. Definitely don't go by the price they tell you over the phone, because it will change once you get into the shop! read more

I went here for some sengalese twists and they came out very good. It was my first time having them and I was impressed by them to say the least. Some things that I did not really like was the window showcased that they took cards so i didn't really think to take out enough cash to cover the style but to tip. After my hair was finished I took out my card to pay and they had told me that the machine was down. At an inconvenience I had to find an atm and then come back which after being there for 7+ hours I was ready to go home. As reassurance that I was coming back one of their workers accompanied me in my car---a little extreme. I feel like it would be the responsibility of the shop to let you know before getting your hair done that the machine is down so you can get the money out before sitting in the chair. I had an appointment for my hair to get down and I'm guessing so did another young lady since we both got there before they opened. Only 1 lady had showed up to do our hair and I'm guessing the other young lady is a regular because she was very friendly with the worker and her baby. Lastly, it took forever for my hair to be done. I went from having 1 person to 2 people to 3 people back to 1 person in my head and it still took forever for it to get done. Good note. Do not bother making an appointment. The way they scheduled is the craziest I've seen. There are only two stylist and they scheduled four appointments. Diamond started a quarter of my head then stopped a did a quarter of the others girl head. Instead scheduling one person at 9 and the other at 1or 2 o'clock they have clients sitting in the salon all day. My appointment was at 9am I didn't leave until 6pm. On top of that she was very rough with my hair, pulling an breaking it the entire time. You can tell they don't care about the health of their client's hair, they just put those extremely tight braids in. After all of that when I went to pay Diamond said I didn't tell her I had thick hair. That I would have been charged more. If that's the case you should probably ask your clients before making the appointment if they have thick hair and not mention it after the fact. Customer service at this place is trash. There is no need to make an appointment because you will not be seen at your appointment time. My appointment was at 8 and I wasn't seen until 830 and someone had to be called in to get started on my hair so why make an appointment? Clients come in later and the stylists will stop your hair to start on another clients head which is beyond unprofessional and not worth the money paid to the stylists in my opinion. They stay very late and do not rush. I love how my hair turned out. The ladies who worked there were loud and talked in a language other than English the whole time I was there it was a little rude and irritating but I was just happy when I was done. I called yesterday to schedule an appointment to get box braids the lady said that the appointment will be at 1 PM but then two minutes later called back and said it will be at 10 AM. So I showed up today right on time at 10. During my transit there the lady called and said she was down the street I said OK cool. So she texted me at 10:18 that she will be there in 3 minutes.. She didn't show up until 1030. Once I walked in I asked if the price was going to go down since they were both late and she laughed in my face and said no that's OK whatever cool (It's my birthday soon so I wanted my hair done early) but then she compared her being late to a two hour wait at the doctors office and said I should be OK with waiting 30 minutes. That comment was uncalled for and disrespectful. After that they asked me what kind of hair I want but after the comment about the doctors office I decided that I no longer wanted them to do my hair for them being late and rude. I called my mother to see what I should do and she said I needed to leave. When I went in to tell them that I was going to leave they were both in the break room. So I hopped in the car and I left. No business should be rude, late and then not give a discount and try to make it like they're doing you a favor by moving your appointment up. This was my second encounter with this place, the first time they were just as rude and hiked up the price on 16 braids. I don't care how well you braid hair I'm not going to waste $200 on women who can't be professional. Also her excuse as to why they were late was we don't open up this early on Sundays yet on the sign on the door and website both say open at 9 AM daily not late on Sundays. She also tried to say I was late too when she called at 9:52am.. When in all I was literally two-three stop lights away. You can't tell me I'm late just because I'm a few stop lights away to make keeping the price at 200 seem reasonable. And to be in business you don't need to show up in pajamas and think it's OK, no matter who you are it's tacky. Yes they can braid but they suck at customer service so I would not recommend them to anyone. You can go anywhere and get better customer service have people to be on time not be rude. The shop does not have internet access therefore no credit cards are accepted. Which they don't tell you prior to your visit so they point you a couple doors down to an atm where YOU pay the fee. Called the police on me? Really? I had an appointment today at 10am. An appointment that I called for at 8am. I also explained that I took out my sew in, but could not find where the stylist started my braid down. She said we can take the braid down out. I took my sew-in out washed my hair, but left the braid down. I explained to the owner that I have to be the work at 5pm and need my hair done before that. She said that I will be done by that time. When I pulled around the corner I remembered this was a place I said I would never go back to because the owner got an attitude when I told her my braids fell out and they started looking old after one week. I continued to go in saying to myself, "well maybe someone else will do my hair and not her". I really didn't have time to call anyone else. I got there at 9:45am as time was very important today. I got there and they immediately took my braid down out and washed it again. Took 10 minutes. I said great we will start on time. Feeling confident. Where it went south. At 10:23am I started looking around and they said we are coming. I waited until 11:15am before I asked how long does it take for micro braids and she said 3 hours. I explained to her again, when I called I let you know I had to go to work. She said what time? I said I called you this morning and the owner finished my sentence and said oh yes at 5:00pm. I said yes. It is now going on 11:30am before I had to call another shop to braid my hair. The owner began to say you need to pay for the wash and for taking out the braid down. After having me sit here for over an hour I will not. She started calling me ghetto ass bitch, Jezebel and a thief. Surprising because when you walk in her Christian music is playing, but I see she is one of those ignorant fake Christians. They tried to block me from leaving and I had to call the police. She told me that I should be considerate that someone is taking the time to come braid my hair. Stop right there!!!! You mean the person is not even here yet? One of the three people there aren't doing my hair after you just told me that you will be with me soon, I asked? They proceeded to call the police on me. Three cops showed up at the shop as she wanted to charge me $40.00 for a wash and to take out a braid down, not my sew-in. Very embarrassing. Plus the lady that was supposed to braid my hair just got there at 11:35am. She apologized and was very nice. She did ask me if she wanted her to do my hair. I told her yes at 10am. I'm on a time restraint and if they knew the person who was braiding my hair could not start at 10am, then you should have been honest about it and tell the paying customer so I can have the choice of waiting or not. The owner is the most disrespectful, rude, inconsiderate and all around most nastiest person I've ever met. I've never had the police called on me or anyone calling me outside of my name. She could have at least said I apologize for your wait. No her concept was when you come to a salon you always have to wait. Instead of giving me that choice that is the problem with these unprofessional salons, it has become acceptable that you have your clients wait for hours and do not discount the rate or show some type of incentive for your inconsideration. You are providing a service that we are paying for, not the other way around. Then she had the audacity to call the police on me to waste even more of my time. Never go to this salon. There reviews are false on the page that I saw. On top of that she lied in front of three other customers by saying I didn't get there by 10am. She is also a huge Christian want to be liar. This was a mixed feeling type of experience for me. The shop is indeed clean and well kept. My appointment was for 10AM however Ms. Diamond was late. On the door her sign says "Open 7 days a week 9AM-10AM." I texted Ms. Diamond to let her know that I was there but the shop was closed. She called me back about 5 minutes later and said that she was down the street and on the way. She showed up about 5-10 minutes later. Once we were in the shop she started to work immediately. I verified the price with her first before she started just to make sure we were on the same page. On the phone she told me her prices were $180 for box braids and and $200 for twists and said she was willing to do the twists for $180(or so I thought, but maybe it was MY misunderstanding). The minute she touched my head I told her to leave my edges free and not to braid too tight because I have fine hair. She said "okay, just let me know if it's too tight." A few minutes later another braider entered the shop and began to braid my hair as well, I repeated the SAME thing to her. The other braider respected my wishes and did not braid tight, Diamond however said that she wasn't braiding tight. In fact she said that she grew her clients' hair. One of her regulars came in with breakfast and Diamond began braiding her hair and I was so relieved because she was killing me. After about two hours they switched and Diamond came back to my head..AGAIN I said, "you've braided too tight because the side you braided is in complete pain." She said, "Okay." After a while I asked her if she can loosen up the side that was too tight and she said, "No, no I can't because it's already loose and if I loosen it then they will fall out. When I put the oil in it will loosen up" mind you, this is MY HEAD!!!!!!! You don't tell a customer that what they feel isn't what it is. She finished my hair and was manipulating the braids as if I didn't just tell her they were too damn tight! After I payed her the $200(Hell no I wasn't tipping for lateness and complete disregard for what I was telling her) she told me that "Beauty hurts" I told her that saying is a myth. So that let me know that she knew damn well she was braiding too tight and just didn't give a damn. And honestly that's not good business. I had to go to someone else who loosened the twists for me and she agreed that they were indeed too tight for my fine hair! I will NOT BE GOING BACK HERE! If you don't want to suffer hair loss/breakage please stay away. It would have been a pleasant experience had she respected what I was telling her about MY hair. Stylists listen to your clients if they tell you that you are just braiding too tightly. Every client is different. I have been here many times because they do a good job (and I don't have many other options) but they are often late or schedule appointments without any staff to take care of it. I anticipated my visit to Diamond Braids after speaking to the owner. She was very professional and responded quickly to my initial email. On the day of my appointment, I had to wait about 20 minutes before getting my hair washed. The shampoo was the worst - the lady combed through my hair with a fine tooth comb and did not use a conditioner. She used this fine tooth comb while blow drying my hair as well. At this point I should have left, but I did not. At this point, the owner told me the braids would be $35 per braid. Not what was discussed over the phone and a bit high for goddess braids. But once again, I stayed against my better judgement. To make a long story short, the final style did not look like the picture. The braider used a whole jar of brown gel on my hair which does nothing but make my hair flaky, dry and brittle. I'm writing this review two days after my appointment and the back braids are still too tight. This is definitely my last visit to Diamond Braids. My braids are not worth $140. read more

My hair is short so I went to the shop to make sure it was long enough to braid. While there I let them know that I wanted my braids about waist length and asked how much more it would be. The young lady said about 200. When they finished my hair she told me 240, which was quite a bit more than I was originally quoted. If u could give this place 0 stars I would. Saturday afternoon I called to see if they can do a specific style, she asked for a picture and replied that she could and told me 140.00. I also asked if there was a wait and she replied "no wait". I get to the shop and the person who is supposed to do my hair is not there, this should have been an indication of what was to come. After 30 minutes she comes and says that she needs to eat SMH. I have very thick natural hair and she tries to comb through my hair with a small tooth comb, I literally had to ask her for a bigger comb. She then asks me to hold my arm up to hold the hair that she was going to use. At this point I am so over this place and I just want it to be over. Well it's time to pay, I have 160.00 all 20.00 bills only because I want to tip the lady and I have no change. She made no attempt to give me change and when I asked she said that the person who braided my hair told me it would be 160.00 because my hair was thick which is 100% a lie. She then said she didn't know what to tell me about my 20.00 because she paid the woman and she had left, my money was sitting right on the table next to me.
