She- mom took a horrific fall from choking on food thereby passing out, falling outside her yard and awoke to two shattered legs/ankles and blood everywhere. She suffered complex compound fractures and was discovered by a neighbor due to her - mom's new puppy running out seeking help. Mom was choppered to Regional trauma center from San Juan Bautista, for emergency surgery. I'll never forget that Friday night call. It was life changing as it was on the heels of her becoming a widow. Needless to say, I had just accepted a new job and was to start on the coming Monday. I had just lost my Father a few short months prior and he was only 68. I had to close mom's home down, sort, sell, clear out storage units and get her into a rehab facility where she could have 24 hr. Care. She was in rehab for 6 months as she was crippled. All while going through dad's things in tandem, I nearly had a breakdown and had to quit my new job. Did I mention my place was undergoing renovations due to internal plumbing leaks/mold in my walls? Nightmare. But, we both prevailed and mom has since moved in with me, mold gone, she's walking fairly well (new hip too) and we're pretty stable, all things considered. But truly, Sylver was our "Silver lining" through all the chaos. He was our favorite then and remains today. In fact! I ended up using him myself 3 years ago when I learned (post op short procedure) that I couldn't be released via an Uber driver. Unbeknownst to me, the surgery center called several (custody signing) services and none were free. But! Sylver came to my rescue within a one hour notice!! He saved the day and he had no idea who I was, until he saw me. As mentioned, I ended up moving mom into my home and we finally got her stable enough to shed the wheelchair and she graduated to a sporty lavender walker. With that said, Sylver walked me to my door (after rescuing me) and I made him wait outside whilst I fetched mom. It had been 2 years since her last ride and they were stunned to see each other, they cried- we all cried. Thank you again for all you do and all you've done for my family. You're a rare human being. She came to Dad's bedside at the post-acute facility to make it easy for me to ask questions and sign him up for care at home. She has served as a valuable liaison. Nurse Dilara advocated for my dad with his doctor when anything wasn't quite right, drew blood for tests, filled pill boxes, and made sure med refills were up-to-date. Really appreciated having her in our corner. PT Abha and OT Ryan were super professional and helpful. Abha spoke loudly and clearly, which was super helpful for my hard-of-hearing dad. We decided to go with caregivers from ProHealth as well and have worked with some very competent, caring people. They are the true heroes who come day in and day out to accompany Dad in running errands and at appointments, support him with meals and tasks around the house, and keep the house clean and tidy. I was in panic mode, desperately looking for someone to help care for my parents. My father has been overwhelmed trying to care for my mother, who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. From the moment Tina answered, she put me at ease. She reassured me that my concerns were common and that my frustrations were completely understandable. She patiently listened as I vented and asked countless questions. I was truly impressed by her compassion, calm demeanor, and willingness to help in any way she could. Although their services were a bit outside of our budget, Tina went above and beyond by suggesting other resources and even providing contact information along with questions to ask so I could find the right fit for my family. I hung up feeling far more confident and supported than when I first called. Visiting Angels is lucky to have such a caring and empathetic person representing their team.
