They were very helpful through the entire process and really did an excellent job. We had someone else tack up the wire for the garage door, and I'm doing so they damaged the wire. (They did not do it at install because there were other projects going on that prohibited them from doing so.) They know their products so well that just by looking at the mechanism and know what's wrong with it. Day 1 - I had a old 10 year model garage door opener that couldn't lift the door up and down anymore, so they replaced the whole thing (took an hour an half - quick!), and left me with two remotes. It works wonderful now. Day 2 - I tried using one of the remotes across the street and it didn't work, so I changed the battery (just in case), didn't work again. I called him to confirm if there's anything I can do before he needed to come out. He said he'll come out and see if he can reconfigure it, scheduled a time and arrived 10 minutes before it was scheduled. Fixed the issue within 2 minutes! Blazingly fast service to replace a broken garage door. Robert came out to inspect our 30 year-old door a day after I called. He showed how the door couldn't be repaired for less than the price of a new, insulated stainless steel door. Very sleezy and unprofessional. They caused 150$ in damage. They broke a very expensive adjustable light that worked before they arrived and now doesn't; now the bulb flaps around cause the part it screws into has been broken and hit so hard the screw retaining it was sheared out. I will be seeking reinforcement and will be going over my camera footage to find out what exactly they did. I set up a camera cause from day one I got the impression they were sleazy hustlers. My landlord hired them not me. The woman decided upon arriving that my broom and shop vac were at her disposable without asking, yes not the biggest deal but still. So I checked my cameras later come to find out that no one is there and the entire garage is wide open. They had left it that way for 2 hrs. I rushed back about 1 1/2hr into their "lunch break " to find the tracks leaning on my toolboxes and had scratched them, amongst other items they had removed and just put where ever, like some shop lights they put down pretty hard on my 300$ welding helmet. I went back and watched it on camera; it was careless and lucky they didn't damage it . Also now my extension cords were at their disposable. The woman had given up sweeping and instead decided blowing dust all over the garage with a leaf blower was easier. They ripped down the fiberglass acoustic panels that I had on the ceiling instead of actually unscrewing the screws, and then they tossed the panels on the ground. The entire time they tried to hustle and pretend like they were giving such a great deal when in fact they were going right to the limit that insurance will pay for and they knew that, even though they reused the old motor. The put the old motor on one side and a manual door on the other. The manual door doesn't even open because he didn't turn the spring whatsoever. Then when my friend came to paint the garage door, they were talking smack telling him good luck painting it with all the dust in here. I wonder how all that dust got kicked up, I wonder if maybe when the woman was using a leaf blower and dusting from outside in had something to do with it. Their truck leaked oil in the driveway. Garage doors don't lineup when it even does open because they are too lazy to do load of the spring. Bottom line, seem more like hustlers than actual professionals. Poor quality, stay away from these people. read more

Since I moved into my home in 2016, I have called Affordable Garage Doors 2 times for repairs and finally called a 3rd time to replace the entire door and system. This is my first time being a homeowner, so when my garage door sensors were refusing to let my door close, I had no clue to how close it/override the system. Thankfully, the previous homeowners left a sticker next to the garage door button with the Affordable Garage Door phone number. Jo walked me through how to override the door over the phone (I think it was 8pm on a weeknight), saving me from leaving my door open overnight. They came out promptly that week and rather than charging me for brand new sensors, they happened to have recycled ones in their truck that worked 100%. A couple years later, different issue, called again and they came out to hammer my garage door track into place. Seems like the previous homeowner had hit it at some point with a car or something (definitely not me!). They advised that the door and system are probably on their last legs, but did not pressure me at all into doing it then and there. I told myself I'd wait until the door breaks one more time, then I'd replace it. Lo and behold, just a few short months later, the door refuses to close or open on its own. I called Jo up, got her reasonable estimate, sent it into the HOA, and within a couple short weeks I have an awesome door system (with a state required backup system for power outages). If you're looking for a prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and affordable garage repair service, look no further. This husband and wife business is hands down the best option when you need your garage door serviced. At 6:15pm on Monday night (which was after business hours for all the repair shops), one of the springs on my opener snapped. We use our garage door maybe 10-12 times a day, so needless to say, getting this fixed was extremely critical for us. I first called the prior repair place I used, and they were rude, short and said the spring was not covered (which I believe it should have been, as it was less than a year when we last replaced it) and it would cost a ton of money to get it fixed. He seemed too busy to talk to me, so I looked up Yelp and found Affordable Garage Doors and it was the best call I could've made. Jo picked up the phone right away and was super friendly and helpful. She asked me to call her main line and leave a message, and they'll call me back first thing in the morning. They were just finishing up a job, so couldn't jot down my info at that time. Well, come 8:30am on Tuesday, Robert calls me and tells me he can fit me in between 4-7pm. Low and behold, they show up at 5pm promptly, assessed the situation and replaced both springs in about 40 minutes. They left my house at about 5:45pm I believe. They did not try to up sell me anything, but Jo did educate me on a new California law that requires that replacement garage openers must now come with battery backups. This was good to know and to keep in my back pocket for future reference. This small business was courteous from the get go, prompt on calling me back, showed up when they said they would, had the springs on their truck, made the repair quickly, left no mess whatsoever in my garage, didn't try to sell me anything additional and most importantly, they provided all this for a price that was almost 1/3 cheaper than the other place I used before. Robert was very nice, his wife did 'up-sell' the latest and greatest products, not sure it was worth the price. Everything was installed fine. But: he parked his car in my very expensive paver driveway and after he left i noticed that motor oil leaked from the truck. i called and left a message about this, and Robert sent an apology vm, but he did not offer to send someone to remove the stains. He said he was going to yell at the truck company who sold him the truck. Well this was in no way helpful to me!!! A good company will always rectify a problem, an apology is not enough. i asked another owner of a company who came to our house the following week (for another service) what he would do and here is his response: "As you can see, i did not park in your driveway, and never do. if my truck was responsible for these stains, i would absolutely pay for this to be repaired", no questions asked. I respect a customer's property and want to leave it the way I found it. Reviewing a company is based on the entire experience, for this reason i would not recommend Affordable Garage Doors!! I had my old garage door replaced the January of this year. I can't believe that I forgot to write a review after having a great service by Robert. Robert is a very friendly guy and easy to have a conversation with. They installed my new garage door without any problems and I was a happy camper. The main reason I went ahead and wrote this review was because i had a problem closing my garage door today. After trouble shooting everything that i can think of, i went ahead and called Robert if he can come by and take a look at it. Within a minute just explaining what kind of problems i was having with the garage door, he mentioned what was most likely the problem. Actually, i had a couple of guys installing a new heater for me and one of them must have accidentally tripped one of the sensors. Robert could of easily come by and charged me if he wanted to but instead just gave me the heads up and my door is working normally now. I have worked with Affordable Garage Doors for years and have always been really happy with their service and responsiveness but today they went above and beyond. Attempting to leave for an early morning class I found my garage door completely inoperable. The class I could afford to miss but not a long ago scheduled appointment in the afternoon. I decided not to call the emergency phone number that they offer as it was pretty early and left a message on the regular number at 7:13am - an hour and twenty minutes before they officially open. Robert called me back within 20 minutes. As luck would have it all of his scheduled appointments for the day were in Oakland and I live across the Bay and towards the south but he said he could come out on an emergency basis (an extra fee that was totally understandable and reasonable) and he did. He kept me apprised of his arrival time as traffic was bad and by 10:00am I had a fully functional garage door that is also now much quieter! Customer service doesn't get any better. This is the third time I have dealt with Robert and Jo. I had called on Monday, when the spring broke. They called me back the next day to say they would be in Pacifica the following day. So, I left work early to be home in the afternoon. Afternoon came and went with no call. I called 3 times to get an eta, and not returned. He finally called me on Wednesday, saying someone stole all his tools on his new truck. Then got a ticket, so he just went home. Hello... maybe you should call you customers that are waiting on you! He arrived today to fix the spring. When he looked at the door opener and the wiring, he asked who installed the machine. I said he did, then he became rather rude saying it wasn't his work as he doesn't wrap wiring around nails. I told him again, he's the only person I have had working on the opener. He became very argumentative saying it wasn't his work. When I told him yes it was, he just basically stomped off to start the work. I could hear him mumbling to himself. At this point I was getting insulted. Then he came through the house and said he didn't want to offend me, but he just knows his own work. I asked if he would like me to find the invoice for his work, and yes, I am offended at this point. His tone changed a little, then said who knows, maybe it was him. Then said, maybe my husband worked on it after him. I guess he assumed I had a husband. What he didn't assume, is that my husband recently passed away. So, it was not helping. I told him that when they installed the machine, Jo was nice enough to give us a 3rd clicker for the door since she had an extra that day back in 2013. I really did like their services before and was happy to overlook not calling on Wednesday, as things happen. But, all of this adding up really upset me. And as a parting blow, I had asked if the wiring was OK, and he said that it could cause problems later. But, it would be under warranty. I asked if the spring was under warranty, and he said no that was part of when the door was installed. I said oh ok! Then very sarcastically, I guess meant as a joke, said can we agree I didn't install the door, right? That's when I said, don't treat me like an idiot! Please take your stuff and leave.
