Robert and Jo did an amazing job. They replaced our old manual pop up door with a modern track door. The final product looks amazing. They were very helpful through the entire process and really did an excellent job. We had someone else tack up the wire for the garage door, and I'm doing so they damaged the wire. (They did not do it at install because there were other projects going on that prohibited them from doing so.) Robert and Jo, came out the next day, replaced the wire and got everything running free of charge despite the fact it was not their fault. Thank you both! read more

Poor service - called to arrange appointment and confirmed a window of time to come - Saturday between 8a-11a. He did not come and try to push out the time later that day because he was working still working on the first job. Rescheduled for the next day between 8a-11a and indicated the day was clear and I would be the first job of the day. 12:30p and still did not arrive. The dispatch would still not give me an ETA. Will cancel the appointment and go with another service. I don't usually write reviews but had to with this situation. Complete waste of time. Rearranged my work schedule to wait for these people not to arrive. read more

Robert and Jo helped me with my garage door. They were generous with their time answering my questions about the door and the work involved. There were delays with the door coming in and Jo kept me informed on the changing schedule, and customer service here was outstanding. They set out expectations on what needed to be done to clear space within the garage before hand. On the day of the work, they were punctual and got things done fast. Went over with all of the facets of the work and the details about how to operate the garage door in detail. Would highly recommend Affordable Garage Doors. read more

Excellent service from Robert. He is trustworthy, honest and reliable technician in reparing the garage door. He came in today to fix the broken spring of my garage door. He showed up on time with face mask on, he followed the covid 19 prevention protocol while working to fix the garage door. He has the supplies needed in his business truck. He is friendly and gives good advice on how to maintain the garage door. I will give him 5 stars for the excellent and quality work he did in replacing the garage door spring. I will definitely call him again next time I need help. Thank you very much! read more

Sadly, Robert and Jo were bought out and GDI has taken over. The salesman from GDI came out and really tried to do a hard upsale of service/repairs. He quoted a price that was 2.5x more than what I expected and recommended even more unnecessary repairs. I went elsewhere and got the job done for a more reasonable price. I would not recommend GDI. read more

I had another garage door company come over to troubleshoot my malfunctioning garage door but they failed not once but two different times. I dealt with it for over a year than decided to call Affordable as I seen them at one of my jobs about 4 months ago. Owner came over and he was very knowledgeable and knew what he was doing even though he had to deal with another company spaghetti wiring mess. He was fast & told me exactly my issue. Garage door works great. read more

Met Robert and Jo Duncan a while back when they did a quick repair on our garage door. This time when our garage door was dying, we knew immediately whom to turn to. They are professional, competent, and friendly (especially with the old folksy type of interaction and humor). They use high quality equipment that is meant to work and last. Great value for reasonable cost. Highly recommend. Sometimes their dog oversees their project. read more

Affordable Garage Doors - they're a friendly husband and wife business! Robert and Jo really care about your garage door. They know their products so well that just by looking at the mechanism and know what's wrong with it. Day 1 - I had a old 10 year model garage door opener that couldn't lift the door up and down anymore, so they replaced the whole thing (took an hour an half - quick!), and left me with two remotes. It works wonderful now. Day 2 - I tried using one of the remotes across the street and it didn't work, so I changed the battery (just in case), didn't work again. I called him to confirm if there's anything I can do before he needed to come out. He said he'll come out and see if he can reconfigure it, scheduled a time and arrived 10 minutes before it was scheduled. Fixed the issue within 2 minutes! That's what strikes me the most - being prompt! Thanks Robert and Jo for helping us with our garage door! I'm very happy with their services and products. read more

Blazingly fast service to replace a broken garage door. Robert came out to inspect our 30 year-old door a day after I called. He showed how the door couldn't be repaired for less than the price of a new, insulated stainless steel door. Robert and Jo came back 6 days later with a quiet, great looking Therma Tech door by Northwest Doors. Very friendly, prices lower than comparable doors from Home Depot. We had hired them several years before to replace the motor on our old door, which went equally smoothly, so it was a no-brainer when it was time to replace the door itself. read more

I just had my garage motor replaced with more contemporary features and current state requirements. I love how quietly my garage door opens and I don't have to worry about my two Chihuahuas getting trapped under the garage door with the new sensors that prevents the door from doing that. Robert and his wife are very personable and really pay attention to details. They took their time to explain everything before leaving. I'm relieved it's done and done well. They're also cheaper than most places. Glad our property manager recommended them. I'm grateful. read more

This business is run by a couple. I had them put a new door on my home over 10 years ago. If ever I had a problem with the motor ,,(it was there before they put in the door) they were right here to solve the problem. They also installed a new door for my next door neighbors about 2 years ago and they are very happy with the door and service. Very personable people with which to deal. read more

Fantastic husband and wife team. They are a blast to talk with and watch work. A ballet of profession Installing that comes from decades of garage door work. They have been tending to our garage doors and openers in Pacifica for years. It was time to get rid of the 21 year old wood doors and go with a lighter weight aluminum ones with windows. So quiet and the seal on these new doors are amazing, nothing is coming in now, the old ones let in a lot if the seed pods from our front birch trees. Cannot recommend them enough, repairs or new install... you'll be very happy with their work. read more

Very sleezy and unprofessional. They caused 150$ in damage. They broke a very expensive adjustable light that worked before they arrived and now doesn't; now the bulb flaps around cause the part it screws into has been broken and hit so hard the screw retaining it was sheared out. I will be seeking reinforcement and will be going over my camera footage to find out what exactly they did. I set up a camera cause from day one I got the impression they were sleazy hustlers. My landlord hired them not me. The woman decided upon arriving that my broom and shop vac were at her disposable without asking, yes not the biggest deal but still. So I checked my cameras later come to find out that no one is there and the entire garage is wide open. They had left it that way for 2 hrs. I rushed back about 1 1/2hr into their "lunch break " to find the tracks leaning on my toolboxes and had scratched them, amongst other items they had removed and just put where ever, like some shop lights they put down pretty hard on my 300$ welding helmet. I went back and watched it on camera; it was careless and lucky they didn't damage it . Also now my extension cords were at their disposable. The woman had given up sweeping and instead decided blowing dust all over the garage with a leaf blower was easier. They ripped down the fiberglass acoustic panels that I had on the ceiling instead of actually unscrewing the screws, and then they tossed the panels on the ground. The entire time they tried to hustle and pretend like they were giving such a great deal when in fact they were going right to the limit that insurance will pay for and they knew that, even though they reused the old motor. The put the old motor on one side and a manual door on the other. The manual door doesn't even open because he didn't turn the spring whatsoever. Then when my friend came to paint the garage door, they were talking smack telling him good luck painting it with all the dust in here. I wonder how all that dust got kicked up, I wonder if maybe when the woman was using a leaf blower and dusting from outside in had something to do with it. Their truck leaked oil in the driveway. Garage doors don't lineup when it even does open because they are too lazy to do load of the spring. Bottom line, seem more like hustlers than actual professionals. Poor quality, stay away from these people. read more

Had an old wood garage door who's springs had sprung, cables, broke, and wood rotted. Initially he came out to lower the old garage door because cable broke. Since I moved into my home in 2016, I have called Affordable Garage Doors 2 times for repairs and finally called a 3rd time to replace the entire door and system. This is my first time being a homeowner, so when my garage door sensors were refusing to let my door close, I had no clue to how close it/override the system. Thankfully, the previous homeowners left a sticker next to the garage door button with the Affordable Garage Door phone number. Jo walked me through how to override the door over the phone (I think it was 8pm on a weeknight), saving me from leaving my door open overnight. They came out promptly that week and rather than charging me for brand new sensors, they happened to have recycled ones in their truck that worked 100%. A couple years later, different issue, called again and they came out to hammer my garage door track into place. Seems like the previous homeowner had hit it at some point with a car or something (definitely not me!). They advised that the door and system are probably on their last legs, but did not pressure me at all into doing it then and there. I told myself I'd wait until the door breaks one more time, then I'd replace it. Lo and behold, just a few short months later, the door refuses to close or open on its own. I called Jo up, got her reasonable estimate, sent it into the HOA, and within a couple short weeks I have an awesome door system (with a state required backup system for power outages). It's amazing to be able to open and close the garage door from your phone! I highly recommend! read more

Had an issue with my garage door after high winds caused power surges through the house. Called this company based upon Yelp reviews. I was extremely pleased with the service. Both Jo and Robert willingly helped me trouble shoot over the phone, emphasizing that they didn't want to charge me for a service trip if it wasn't necessary. Was fortunate enough to figure out the issue with Robert's guidance over the phone but if I have any future garage issues, they will be the first company I call. read more

We reached out to AGD and they were On-site to provide a free estimate within the week. Note: I called 3 other companies in my local area and they each wanted to charge a fee to come out. Only those not confident in their quotes charge a fee for an estimate. Peter was great and gave 2 options that would work best for us. We moved forward with the new garage door, lift master opener, key pad etc. The crew were quick and professional during installation and overall I was 100% pleased. Thank you!! read more

Our first experience with replacing a garage door was a good experience! We used affordable garage doors they were here on time, they did a great job, they were fast. Wonderful service. They were very responsive in communication and straight forward with pricing estimates and what the job entailed. They were on time. Happy and fun during the job. Robert was very nice, his wife did 'up-sell' the latest and greatest products, not sure it was worth the price. Everything was installed fine. But: he parked his car in my very expensive paver driveway and after he left i noticed that motor oil leaked from the truck. i called and left a message about this, and Robert sent an apology vm, but he did not offer to send someone to remove the stains. He said he was going to yell at the truck company who sold him the truck. Well this was in no way helpful to me!!! A good company will always rectify a problem, an apology is not enough. i asked another owner of a company who came to our house the following week (for another service) what he would do and here is his response: "As you can see, i did not park in your driveway, and never do. if my truck was responsible for these stains, i would absolutely pay for this to be repaired", no questions asked. I respect a customer's property and want to leave it the way I found it. Reviewing a company is based on the entire experience, for this reason i would not recommend Affordable Garage Doors!! If you're looking for a prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and affordable garage repair service, look no further. This husband and wife business is hands down the best option when you need your garage door serviced. At 6:15pm on Monday night (which was after business hours for all the repair shops), one of the springs on my opener snapped. We use our garage door maybe 10-12 times a day, so needless to say, getting this fixed was extremely critical for us. I first called the prior repair place I used, and they were rude, short and said the spring was not covered (which I believe it should have been, as it was less than a year when we last replaced it) and it would cost a ton of money to get it fixed. He seemed too busy to talk to me, so I looked up Yelp and found Affordable Garage Doors and it was the best call I could've made. Jo picked up the phone right away and was super friendly and helpful. She asked me to call her main line and leave a message, and they'll call me back first thing in the morning. They were just finishing up a job, so couldn't jot down my info at that time. Well, come 8:30am on Tuesday, Robert calls me and tells me he can fit me in between 4-7pm. Low and behold, they show up at 5pm promptly, assessed the situation and replaced both springs in about 40 minutes. They left my house at about 5:45pm I believe. They did not try to up sell me anything, but Jo did educate me on a new California law that requires that replacement garage openers must now come with battery backups. This was good to know and to keep in my back pocket for future reference. This small business was courteous from the get go, prompt on calling me back, showed up when they said they would, had the springs on their truck, made the repair quickly, left no mess whatsoever in my garage, didn't try to sell me anything additional and most importantly, they provided all this for a price that was almost 1/3 cheaper than the other place I used before. Now, my garage door is humming like it's brand new again. Thank you Jo and Robert. You have completely won yourself a big fan here. I would recommend you to all my friends. You guys are rock stars. read more

I had my old garage door replaced the January of this year. I can't believe that I forgot to write a review after having a great service by Robert. Robert is a very friendly guy and easy to have a conversation with. They installed my new garage door without any problems and I was a happy camper. The main reason I went ahead and wrote this review was because i had a problem closing my garage door today. After trouble shooting everything that i can think of, i went ahead and called Robert if he can come by and take a look at it. Within a minute just explaining what kind of problems i was having with the garage door, he mentioned what was most likely the problem. Actually, i had a couple of guys installing a new heater for me and one of them must have accidentally tripped one of the sensors. Robert could of easily come by and charged me if he wanted to but instead just gave me the heads up and my door is working normally now. They are very honest people and would definitely recommend on using their service!!! Thanks again Robert for the after customer service you provide! read more

I have worked with Affordable Garage Doors for years and have always been really happy with their service and responsiveness but today they went above and beyond. Attempting to leave for an early morning class I found my garage door completely inoperable. The class I could afford to miss but not a long ago scheduled appointment in the afternoon. I decided not to call the emergency phone number that they offer as it was pretty early and left a message on the regular number at 7:13am - an hour and twenty minutes before they officially open. Robert called me back within 20 minutes. As luck would have it all of his scheduled appointments for the day were in Oakland and I live across the Bay and towards the south but he said he could come out on an emergency basis (an extra fee that was totally understandable and reasonable) and he did. He kept me apprised of his arrival time as traffic was bad and by 10:00am I had a fully functional garage door that is also now much quieter! Customer service doesn't get any better.
