After TWO FAILED and expensive visits which included the installation of a new 30-amp 240-volt GFCI-protected dryer circuit and the replacement of the AFCI/GFCI breaker for the laundry circuit, Affordable Electric left me with an unusable laundry room. To avoid more costs and potentially more problems, I called in another company. Within 10 minutes, they found faulty wiring of the new dryer outlet and breaker, then found that the "new" breaker for the washer was not new but faulty as well. I gave Affordable Electric the opportunity to reimburse me for the $1200 cost to fix their errors, but they responded with lots of excuses. So, please be careful if you call these guys. They caused me more harm than good AND were not affordable. read more

A review of service on 3/13/25 & 3/18/25. Electrical work was satisfactory. But upon reflection due to interaction with your employee on 3/18 I have changed my mind. On 3/13 I was charged $300 for a safety inspection largely completed by a 12-14-year-old kid, apparently on spring break and working with his father. Two days after I noticed the lack of hot water and the fact my water conditioner was offline. My expectation had been my house would be the same condition as prior to your service. On 3/18 your employee "very rudely" told me since the water heater was not an electrical appliance the water heater was my issue. He also indicated if that was not ok he would stop work on the job and leave. Later that day I had a technician from Ct Pt Energy in to determine the issue with the water heater. He informed me that a wire had been dislodged from the pilot light making the unit inoperable. I had not been in the utility room since prior to your safety inspection and two days after when I determined the water heater was offline. My point being I did not dislodge the wire on water heater and was accidentally dislodged during your safety inspection. Absolutely crazy! Apparently most electricians are now charging fees to just come out and give estimates. This process in the past has led to some electricians to try and charge us $800 to to replace a normal outlet. Not install, just take out an outlet and replace it. We got a handyman to do it for about $50. Affordable Electric went beyond the pale. We are only asking to replace a 120V outlet with a 220V one in order to replace our gas stove with an induction stove. On the internet, estimates are about $200-300, we were prepared to pay a bit more if necessary. see https://www.angi.com/articles/price-installing-220v-line.htm They came back with a quote for $1500. Their "quote" had a listed item of $1300 that just described the job. No number of hours estimates, what the parts were nothing. This is a huge scam. These places are making you put some money down in the "estimates" in this case $49 and then completely overcharging you to make you feel invested. So I didn't check my yelp to read their reviews before hiring them and if ripping off the elderly is true you guys gotta figure some shit out cause there are plenty of people who can do electric work. Also old ass houses can have crap electric systems Anyway, our power panel went out and we paid $5000 for a big ass panel, new ground rods, breakers and wires from pole to panel cause ours were old aluminum ones. We got a 50 amp upgrade which I thought was good. The guy organized the wires in the panel real nice. We did pay $400 for a circuit for space heaters and such and I had them put in a security light for my driveway. I don't have much experience with contractors but I feel they did a good job. read more

This is by far one of the WORST experiance I've had with a service company. We called them to look at two garage outlets that had went out. The technician took a look and said he knew what the probblem was and he could fix it right now. He replaced the outlets in less than 9 min and charged us $394. A bit much but hey. He did the work. Sonwe thought! The next day the outlets were out again. My husband called him back to let him know that they weren't working. He agreed to come but. Ever showed up, bever even called. When we finaly got ahold of him he said he wasn't going to come unless someone was available to pay him. How is it that you're charging us to redo the work that you were supposedly done the last time. We have yet to hear back from them an our outlets are still out! He was scheduled to come out yesterday between 4:15 and 6:15pm And was supposed to text or call before he got there. He never showed up. Not a call, an email or a text to let me know, nothing. RUN, DON'T WALK TO ANOTHER COMPANY!!!! I have used them in the past, but today's experience would make me run the other way. I called on Tuesday to have a few odd electrical jobs done on my house. The woman who scheduled seemed uninterested in helping a client, she scheduled an electrician to come on Wednesday between 12-4. On Tuesday at 3:56ish I received a call that they would be there shortly. I informed them that my appointment was scheduled for WEDNESDAY not Tuesday. After both of these I should not have scheduled or cancelled. But I kept my appointment to have the work completed. The electrician was scheduled to be there between 12-4. I took a half day to accommodate having the work done. The electrician called me at 3:44 to say he was running late and would be there in an hour. He came and only quoted me a price and than said it was to late to start work and charged me $65. I called the main number to express my confusion and frustration that no work was done at my house, the women did apologize and say she would call the owner. The owner appears to not want to speak to a customer to address the issue. As it stands they want to listen to the recording, the correct customer service for a return client is to return the $65 service charge. I will update if they follow up. Also do not sign anything they bring in from the start, seems like from other reviews and Affordable Electrics responses, they are trapping people. Also because I see that you say all clients that leave poor reviews are "not in your system" mine is under my married name. Response: To be clear my complaint is not that they have a trip charge, I understand this is a common practice. My complaint is that work was to be done on the trip and no work was completed, when that is what I discussed when scheduling. I had three possibly four projects I knew no matter what I wanted some completed. But the worker would not do work because it was "too late". Also that people plan accordingly for what you tell them, so if you say 12-4 and don't come till almost five that is disrespectful to clients, insult added that I took time off work to be available. So yes the business decision is to return the service charge for the inconvenience. Update from owner: On Wednesday Heather informed me that a manager would call me by 12 -12:30 pm Thursday. A female manager did call me, at 3:40pm (note that you must take notes on times and record interactions because in their unprofessionalism they will CHALLENGE you!) The manager was abrasive from the beginning of the phone call stating that she listened to the recording and that they were right. I asked multiple times to listen to the phone call or come to their office to listen to the recording. If I was in the wrong I would not contest the $65 charge. She refused all these options. She maintained an attitude of hostility. When I told her that she was being abrasive, she stated that this is just how she sounds and attacked me for being unpleased with this experience and leaving a review. She also accused me of never having work done in the past and demanded that I prove with a receipt that I am a returning costumer, because they have no proof of doing work on my property. When I challenge that this seems to be a returning theme for them they insisted that all their bad reviews are from people that have never had work done by them. In fact they switched out my entire circuit breaker in 2016 when I purchased my house. The manager also disrespected my husband by saying that he was "the man who lives in your house" and he "needs permission from you to do anything". To top it off she had me on speaker so that others in the office could listen in and comment. Overall they lack the skills necessary to run a customer service based business, they are unprofessional and tactless. After arguing with me for over 20 min she returned my $65, stating that I should have just asked for that, when in fact that is specifically what I asked Heather for the previous day, but Heather did not have the authority. read more

I called them on Wednesday as I had some outlets on one wall not working, one of which was my oven. They said they would try to get out to my house the next day but weren't sure they could because they were busy. They called me the next day and said they weren't going to be able to make it but would call in the evening to schedule a time to come out on Friday. Friday came and went, no call, no service. I ended up having to wait all weekend and ended up calling someone else to do the work. read more
