These folks did an A/C compressor for me at a very fair price and inspected the vehicle while it was there. No hard sell, just facts. I subsequently also had a new wheel bearing installed, a valve cover gasket, a heater hose that was ready to blow, spark plugs, and an ignition coil rack. Excellent job and went thru all the removed defective parts with me. I trust this shop implicitly. No price gouging, communicative, and above all, honest. 91,000 miles, 2012 Chevy Cruze. I took my classic 69 mustang convertible in for new motor mounts. Both JC and Cassie were very friendly and helpful. JC did very good work and the price was very fair. It was completed within the estimated price and time. I was very happy with these folks. read more

Made the mistake of telling them I wasn't in a hurry... which I wasn't... but they didn't hurry either. HOWEVER... when I did get my vehicle back, not only had they fixed what was wrong with it and done so at a very reasonable price, they also fixed another minor item that had been annoying me for years but never said anything about. When I noticed it, it was a pleasant surprise. I like when people go above and beyond. It happens so rarely these days. I will undoubtedly use these guys again when the need comes up. read more

Affordable Auto Repair definitely lived up to their name and more! Kasidee and J.C. provide quality service at a low/affordable price. Kasidee is extremely accommodating (thank you again!). J.C., mechanic, takes time to provide all the details. Superior team and service. Definitely my new mechanic in Simi Valley!! read more

Honest mechanic! I brought my truck in because I thought it had issues with the AC but I could not replicate the problem so they didn't even charge me for the inspection. I would highly recommend to go here if you don't want to get overcharged. read more

I had been talking my car to the dealer for services prior to coming here and was getting charged like crazy. Affordable auto repair was fair in their pricing and fixed my AC which had been blowing hot air (through two trips to the dealer). Definitely plan on being a repeat customer read more

Always courteous, reliable and honest. We have been taking our cars to Affordable for years. We are never dissatisfied!

We all are cautious when stepping into a shop for automotive repair because frankly, we don't know our cars mechanical make-up and what really needs to be done other than change the oil. When I found Affordable, I found a place that felt comfortable and was not pressuring me. When I had a major service that needed to be done, I asked what I could wait on and Scotty told me exactly what needed to be done and what could be done over time. Another time that I had to go in and requested to replace the alternator becasue I heard a noise, Scotty made sure to advise that it could go out but if it was still working then why spend the extra money right now? I was a customer for life!! This is truly a place that takes care of its customers and knows what true customer service and relationships is all about! read more

I have been using this shop for more than 10 years now. Scotty has been transparent and honest about repairs for my past vehicles. He always tells me if it's an emergency or a repair to plan for the future. He kept my Honda Civic in such great shape over the 8 years I owned it I really never had many repairs just maintenance! I just got a brand new car so I'll have to wait for an oil change to visit them again :) read more

I need to give this place 5 stars! I was visiting my sister in Simi. Unfortunately I had a car problem while there. She told me about this place and how she has always been happy with them. Well, she is right the staff was friendly and they were quick at finding and fixing the problem. Thank you, Affordable Auto repair! read more

Nothing but positive thoughts about Affordable Auto Care. Integrity and honesty is what I have found here. Thank you Scotty!

I have been taking my cars to Affordable for years. I've always gotten good fair service at a good price. Also, the vehicles have been ready when promised. Will continue to go back. read more

I wrote a very positive review for Scott in 2014 and rereading it now I stand by what I wrote. I have had only consistently great experiences in taking my car to Scott/Affordable Auto over the years. Recently it was time for some repairs. My car is a 2005 Toyota Camry and has served me well but it was time for some new brakes, a new strut mount and a new radiator. Scott brought all of these to my attention and provided an easy to read quote. Very clear and open communication. I had time to consider my options. No pressure. It was clear that Scott was offering me the best deal in town and he has a long history of being reliable so I booked an appointment to have the work done and brought my car in. The work was done in a timely manner. No complications. My car is running great now and I'm very pleased. Thank you Scott. It's wonderful to have a mechanic that I trust and can depend on. Again, I highly recommend Scott and his shop. You won't be disappointed. read more

I just took my car in for some repairs and as usual they did a great job. Affordable Auto Repair has been working on our car and truck for 10+ years now. I had an appointment at 9:30am they got my car in on time and I got it back in a timely fashion at a reasonable price. So grateful for a honest auto repair shop. Debbie C. read more

(In a recent conversation with a coworker she shared her hesitation in putting much stock in Yelp! reviews because, "I'm sure a lot of positive reviews are by friends or relatives of the business owners." So, I feel the need to state up-front that no one in my family or my wife's family is related to or has a friendship relationship with the owner or any employee of Affordable Auto.) In the 12 years we've been taking our cars to Affordable Auto we've never had questionable or bad service. Just the opposite. In fact, we trust them 100%, and that's huge! Reading the bad reviews, I can only say that their experience is the exception--NOT the rule. There have been several times when Affordable Auto went above & beyond what I'd expect from any auto repair business in the way of price and payment, making it possible for us to get our vehicles back on the road. We are forever grateful to the owner for this!! We no longer live around-the-corner from Affordable Auto, but you can bet we make sure to find a way to get our cars to their shop when they're having issues. My wife & I have happily turned others on to Affordable Auto, and no one has ever been unhappy. Everyone knows that sickly vulnerable feeling when we have a car acting up and needs to go to the shop, but with Affordable Auto we know what it's like to feel taken care of. I recommend them with my whole heart, and I stand behind this review. They deserve it for being so good to us!!! read more

Today I had an appointment for 9 AM. My truck really needed to get its brakes checked. I arrived at 9 only to be told I should have arrived at 8 when they opened. Why have APPOINTMENTS if it's really first come first serve?! People are busy these days and not honoring appointments is bad business. I had a good experience here the first time but cannot believe this latest visit. Sadly, I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I have been bringing both our cars to Affordable for years! Scotty is the first person we call when we need anything done! Scotty is fantastic and always takes great care of his customers. His service is fast, and the quality is top notch. He really cares.

We are so pleased to have found this great auto repair shop. Scotty was more than nice and extremely fair. Very specific in diagnosing the problem and love that he can easily break down the pricing and necessity to what has to be taken care of, what can optionally be taken care of and what can wait a while. We will for sure be keeping him as our go to auto repair guy. Thanks to Scotty and the crew at Affordable. :) read more

Both of my cars needed a full inspection and repairs, since we are moving. Scotty took care of each car within 2-3 days. He had kept our cars running for almost five years, so I highly recommend his shop. read more

Great customer service, great auto service. Always treats me with respect and kindness. Always reasonable in prices and explains every item he charges. I have been going to see Scotty for 8 years now, he is very honest and "Affordable" so go check him out.And tell him Vicki sent you.

I agree with Vicki - Scotty is a pleasure to work with. Al is great too. When I moved here from Michigan a couple of years ago I had no idea where to go for car repairs - I blindly picked Affordable Auto and have been happy with all of the work they have done for my old car - by the way, if you have an old car... this is one of the few places around Simi that will even look at it for you. read more

My parents live in Simi and twice my car needed services when visiting. Affordable Auto Repair was great! They were very fair and honest. On my first visit they replaced my AC unit for less than I was quoted at other shops. For my most recent visit, they replaced all my engine mounts in less than 2 days because my engine almost fell out of my car on the drive up from San Diego. If you live close or are just visiting and your car needs some love, this is the only automotive repair place you need!! read more

Not only did they fix the problem I had been having for the past year, they did it with kindness and honesty. I'm a female and it's tough finding an honest auto repair shop. paid $98 for an assesment of my AC...fair enough....quoted $517.00 to replace a HOSE that costs $148.92 and sits on top of the engine, (my 12 year old could change it) plus they couldn't get the part for at least a week. So took it to LEGIT autos in Hollywood where they filled it up with freon and it's running great. Even if I need the part they said it would take 24 hours to get it. Affordable....I don't think so....Honest.....doesn't look like it....am I missing something here..?? read more

Don't go here. Brought my car in for catalytic converter. Scotty said didn't need one but charged me $800 for super tune up to pass smog test. Car then failed smog test. Brought car back to Scotty, he said now I need new converter and it would be another $800. Didn't offer any deal after I already paid him $800 for nothing. I will not be bringing my car back to Affordable. Don't let this type of highway robbery get you too. read more

This place bites. The owner bites. Rude. His workers were great though. Very kind and accomodating. Came in at 4:35pm. They close at 5. Im like, cool i made it! Guys told me to ask manager/owner if he'd take my car for an oil change, n i waited for him to talk on the phone for 10min. He comes out and says no. Give me a freakin break. I rush out of work to get here. I made it before 5. If you dont take people in because its "almost 5pm", tell people you close at 430pm. My job closes at 430pm. We take people in until 430pm. Came right next door to jiffy lube. They couldnt be any nicer! Even gave me a discount! Only paid 53 bux for my Land Rover for an oil change, battery terminal cleaning, antifreeze, air in tires, and new brake lights. Gooo to jiffy lube! read more

This had to be the worst experience with a mechanic. And I have owned an automobile for more than 30 years. First off, I had an appointment at 10am and when I arrived they said they wouldn't be able to look at my car until the end of the day because they "got real busy". So I came back later that day and dropped the car off, 5pm passes and I have not heard anything so I call them and their response was "I thought someone got back to you already". So customer service was horrible, as far as the auto repair I wouldn't let them touch my car since they told me I basically needed a new transmission, when in fact I had already ran the codes before showing up and knew all I needed was a new gasket to fix a leak since I was getting a P0218 code. Ended up going to the dealer to get it fixed by qualified professionals. Don't bother going to this place, all the bad reviews are true and the good reviews are probably from friends. read more
