As of today things are not going well. I called the shop to see how long the wait was for a diagnostic. I was told the wait was 1-2 hours, so I decided to have my vehicle towed to this shop. it is now close to 6pm and my vehicle has been pushed to tomorrow. I was told "well things happen". UPDATE: BELOW YOU WILL SEE THE OWNER STATED HE WOULD REACH OUT TO ME. HE DID NOT. I think he just states that bc it "looks good." If you must get your car done here..I WOULD SUGGEST YOU WATCH. I came to this place because of the reviews. So Many lies! They must have friends of friend of friends writing the reviews. My air flow sensor was showing a code. Rough idle, shaking slow start, etc. I dropped my car off at 8 am and I called at 1 to get an update, I was told they were writing it up and would call right back. An hour and a half passed...called again, was told I would get a call back, FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC concerning the mass flow sensor. They called me with a quote of 1600. A bolt was missing on the air sensor -which they claimed caused the air To pass Through to Misfire. They couldn't replace bc they, "couldn't find the bolt. INSTEAD, They told me a whole new air intake Unit from Nissan, HAD to be ordered, which would be $500." As well as new sensor and a fuel injector clean out. I told them I would call back, Immediately, I Called Nissan who said they would sell me the bolt for $28 and i didn't need to buy a whole unit-also anyone that says that they were going to buy whole units at Nissan could actually buy the parts from Nissan as well. I called Affordable back and they explained their "part guy" could only order whole units...Lies). This place is so dishonest and a huge fabrication of the lies of "we want to make sure she is safe," lines they spoke of. I told Them I wouldn't be taking their business anymore. Soon getting my car back I had noticed that the fasteners under the engine were gone and the piece was placed on top-like a plate on a table. ( I CALLED them several times and no answer-I assume they have caller ID). Not only that a friend who is a mechanic graciously came to the rescue and showed us the huge gaping holes around the tube that connects to the airflow sensor. He said the "bolt" I was quoted for $500 wasn't needed to "seal out the air" bc that's the sensor bolt and there was one was fastened down... my mechanic friend found a fitted bolt and screwed down for me. I Also ordered a new INTAKE hose from O"Riley's for $138-something they never brought up! This was the actual cause of The malfunction of my car. 4 huge holes/gashes in the tubing. My friend, who is a mechanic said to be careful Of shops because they are always trying to make more money off of someone who seems naive. IF they actually did the diagnostic, they would have found the FOUR GAPING HOLES AND GASHES around the hosing unit-diagnostics include blowing smoke In these hoses to Check for Holes...which, they didn't do-or else they would've seen the cause. I guess times are tough, and places like these simply don't care. But my goodness, they weren't even slightly honest about anything in there diagnostic. DO NOT GO HERE! Shame on this place. Only positive was Greg apologized and bypassed the diagnostic fee. But then again, a diagnostic wasn't even performed. Should have scheduled an appointment prior but wanted to see if they could fit me in. When I walked in there was one person waiting, a person at the desk and about 2 people in the breakroom it looked like. I asked if he had time to change my oil and he kind of put out a laugh and asked the 2 people in the back if they wanted to changed the oil and if they had time. One responded with "not really". Then was explained they maybe could get to me in an hour. I understand if you are busy, but SAY that, don't be condescending. I told him I would be going to the business next door to get it changed. They may have great customer service or car service in general, but that conversation really just put me off. I will never have any work done here. Our mechanic was on vacation so we decided to try someone local, 15 minutes from the house. Our service vehicle had some vibration when idling - we replaced a few things previously but nothing cured it. We had them look at it and they determined the non Chevy parts used to replace the motor mounts were the culprit. But also told us tie rods and ball joints were unsafe. We got a really nice discount and auto was ready in 1 day. This shop is really professional - gave us our old parts back and explained everything fully. Price was exactly what we were quoted. Happy to say, we will probably be using them in the future because they are genuinely nice and like I said before, professional. Also being close is a huge plus! read more

Ok. I had two cars with issues. A RAV 4 with rear brakes making a grinding noise and a 300 with a oil pan gasket hemorrhaging oil. I went over there with the RAV 4 and explained that it was making a metal grinding sound in the back. I am always weary of mechanics. Notorious for shafting people since most of us are not experts or able to calculate what the cost SHOULD be to a repair. They quoted me a range of $250 and $400 which was roughly what I expected to pay. By the end of the day, they fixed my car and charged me $207. I was curious about why the price was not in the quoted range. The gentleman behind the counter said " it was just the break pads worn down, by the way you explained it, I thought the car was worse off." Then I coordinated with them on fixing my oil leak on my 300. I have kids and need my car during the morning and in the afternoon. They chose to work on my car on a Saturday. That way I could pick up and drop off my kids during the week. They quoted me $375 to $500 for labor and parts. I knew what the amount of labor was going to be because I read up all that they had to do to fix it and felt that was a reasonable charge. They close at one on Saturdays. They called me at two because "we don't leave till we finish our work on Saturdays". I came in and expected to pay the amount they quoted me. Nope! It was less. I'm not saying that every time that I go there I would expect a lower rate than what they quoted me. But I can tell you that I expect them to charge you the correct amount for the work done. And the work? Everything was well done. I have never had a mechanic that I felt loyalty towards. I do now. I can honestly say I trust those guys. I even will bring my oil changes to them. I and my husband appreciate the honesty from Kenny. You always think the car people are going to sell you a lot of stuff that's not needed. I took my car in for two reasons. One it started smoking the night before and then noticed in the morning my antifreeze was leaking. I could hear a swishing sound in my dash board as I drove it up there. Second my car kept doing what I refer to as a cough when I'm at a stop. They immediately found the busted radiator hose and fixed that. Unfortunately that noise is still in the dash and I was told it can take time to go away. The coughing, I was told wait for a check engine light because you could spend all kinds of money trying to figure out what it is. So about a month later the swishing noise is louder to me and when I called they said bring back up. Now what these guys went through trying to get everything sucked out there was crazy. They did find out that the cough was and it was something my husband could fix himself vs us paying them to do it. Kenny never made me feel bad for choosing to fix it ourselves. He didn't even charge a diagnostic fee. As far as the swishing, my car is being a jerk and it is no fault of there's. They bled it over and over taking 45 minutes each time. They got out most of what's causing the sound but my car decided it's not giving it all up. Hopefully it will go away in time. What they charged us for all the time they put into my car was shocking. Shocking that they could have charged a lot more, but they didn't! I work in the vet field and I know some dogs have an allergic reaction to vaccines. Well that's not our fault the dog is allergic. It is not their fault that doing the process over and over, it still makes the sound. I appreciate how we were treated and them waiving charges I would have completely understood and would have paid because they put a lot of time into my car. Crossing fingers the air or moisture, whatever it is that's being difficult will go away with time. I hope I'm not going back soon because nobody wants car problems, but if issues arrive, I will definitely go back there. I scheduled an appointment after speaking to them regarding the specific issues I was having with my truck. They scheduled an outside vendor to reprogram the computer in my vehicle. The programmer supposedly did his part and I paid the agreed to price. When I got in my truck, nothing had changed. I went back in and spoke with the manager at which time I learned that the shop never discussed with the programmer what the problem is. I didn't get a refund even though they didn't fix anything and then wanted to charge me for diagnostics. Not to mention the manager even admitted he didn't look to see if the truck was fixed when HE pulled it out of the bay. read more

Got me in and out super quick, and didn't try to overcharge me at all! What I thought was a part that needed to be replaced actually wasn't a big deal, and since they didn't actually need to "fix" anything that took more than 10 minutes, I only got charged for towing, which was super cheap since they have a discount plan with the towing company they use. Staff was super helpful and courteous through the whole process, and even the employees of the tow service that they use were very personable and helped me calm down (difficult to do for a pregnant lady!). I've been looking around for a repair shop that makes me feel I can trust them. I do a lot of the maintenance on my cars by myself. I just don't like the big brand repair shops going through a long list of things that should be done as "preventative" maintenance when I just wanted an oil change. I had my Jeep towed to Affordable and gave Jason a quick explanation of what was going on and I had a general idea of what "might" be wrong. I was told what to expect as part of the original estimate and what I paid was just about spot on. I had a nice conversation about the Jeep which did not include a long list of "things" that should be done to this 20 year old truck. I'll be returning to Affordable in the future for more services as we have 4 cars in the family. read more

We have used this place quite a few times for all of our cars. Never thought there was anything special about it but it was convenient to where we live. The last time we brought our car in was because it was leaking transmission fluid. They fixed the problem which was a cracked hose, we paid and went on our way. The next week we noticed it was still leaking, so we took it back up there, left it for a few hour and they called back and said the house clamp was loose so they tightened it up and replaced the fluid. We were not charged again. A week later it was leaking again, we were about to go on road trip and needed it fixed asap, especially since we had already paid for the repair. We called them on a Friday to let them know we were having the problem again, they said the quickest they could get to it would be the following Tuesday. We told them this was unacceptable, we had already paid for the repairs and we needed the car for a road trip. It didn't seem to matter to them. We ended up taking it somewhere else, paying again for the repair. Car is working great now and does not have any issues. Also I am a little bothered by the $50 diagnostic fee they charge to look at your car. I can understand having to pay that if I decide not to get the work done, but if I decide to use your services, drop the extra fee. read more

My wife had been taking her Chevy Traverse there for oil changes since purchasing it in 2010. It was a new vehicle so we didn't have any mechanical issues until recently. We took our traverse there because it's just across the street from where we live. Recently, the traverse was having an issue with the gasket in the water pump. We dropped it off on Sunday night so they could look at it first thing on Monday, which they didn't look at it until Tuesday. They called us on Tuesday night and gave a $600+ quote. Affordable automotive has a sign behind the counter that CLAIMS they will beat competitor prices and give a free oil change. It doesn't say anything about asking an associate for details or any other exclusions. It simply says they are competitively priced, just give them a written estimate from a competitor and they will match it and give you a free oil change. My wife called Red River Auto in McKinney and got a price quote of $350! She called affordable automotive and Jason asked her to have the other facility fax their price estimate so he could see why it was so much cheaper. She called Red River Auto and had them fax the estimate to Affordable Automotive. She then called Jason back after about 2 hours and asked about the outcome and he proceeded to say they would not match the price because " the labor per hour at that place is insanely low and it cannot be matched because he needed to pay his guys and he has a $1M facility to run and keep they doors open" We decided not to have Affordable Automotive do the job, but still had them do an oil change. When my wife went to pick up the truck he told her it was $140?! When she asked Jason why so much he explained for diagnostics, which usually is understandable, but they have a sign to match a legitimately priced competitor which she did. When she asked Jason "you have a sign right behind you that states you will match competitor prices with a written estimate and not only are you not honoring your bold statement, but do you really think it's fair to charge me for the diagnostics when you chose not to match the price OR to charge me for the oil change when your sign says prices will be matched and get a free oil change. So you are not only not honoring the price match, but you are charging for the diagnostics and you are still going to charge me for the oil change, too?" Apparently it was all about keeping the doors open to a $1M facility and paying their guys. And to top it off when we took the truck to Red River Auto they called us and told us that the problem with the truck actually had a recall on the product and that I could take it to the dealership and get it fixed for FREE!!! We picked it up from Red River and took it to the dealership and it was ALL TAKEN CARE OF! FOR FREE!! read more

Zero stars: Recently my brother took his car in for an axle repair. He left with a "fixed" repair, but the noise continued. My husband is a technician at Lexus and looked at the car. There was no new axle, even though he paid for one. My brother also got a state inspection, but my husband (who is also a state certified inspector) claims the car would never pass an inspection because the brakes are so bad. My brother and husband went to the McKinney location to speak to the owner, Edmund. Edmund never admitted fault, was immediately defensive and rude, questioned my husband's credibility, didn't offer a resolution, and told them "to get the f out". What a great family run business. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Poorly run, ripped off service, lied to my family, and put my brother's safety at risk by not even mentioning the brakes. JUST AWFUL. NO WORDS... read more

Came in for simple alignment. After going through vehicle they handed me a $989.00 review of what needed to be done, full tune-up included because my wires were bad. Had tune-up 3 months prior to pass inspection. Went to Precision for alignment. $69.00 with no mention of anything else being wrong. If you come to this place, a second opinion is highly recommended. Lost me as a customer. I used to go to this place, because it is near my home. And, you don't usually have to wait long to get serviced. A couple of things led to me and my family looking for service elsewhere. Too many times, the guy at the counter, Jason, was rude. And, on more than one occasion, said he would call with information, and never called. Then, they took advantage of my daughter. She went in with a cooling problem. They lack the ability to diagnose the problem. They replaced her radiator, to the tune of $500, and it did not need to be changed, nor did it resolve the problem. Then they quoted her $1600 to replace the water pump. It was at this point, I told my daughter to go somewhere else. Finding a shop you can TRUST is difficult. I had several people recommend a different shop, but I guess we had to get to this point before we were willing to try it. We went to the other shop, got the water pump changed for $600, problem solved. That's right, $1000 less! Sharrock Automotive is literally a stone's throw from Affordable Automotive. Ask around, I'm sure you'll hear nothing but good things about Sharrock's, that's all I've ever heard. I'm so happy to have Steve now. read more

My husband and I took his car to get four new tires next door and they recommended Affordable Automotive since my husband's front tire made an awful noise. They took care of the problem and adjusted the alignment and my husband started noticing the noise about 6-7 months later. We took it back and they stated they would look into it. Well the barring they had replaced was cracked and was defective so Edmund and his crew replaced it for free. This never happens so not only do we not have to pay for another barring, they didn't rip us off and lie they were honest and good people about it. The one time I managed to actually get an oil change here, they did a great job. I've tried to use them twice since for regular maintenance, because they seem like good people and I'd love to support a family owned and operated business, but both time I've gone in they've said they were too busy and asked if I could schedule an appointment for a week out. I took my car in for a "Check Engine" light. After running a diagnostic test, the codes revealed that there was a tear in the Air Intake Sleeve causing the check engine light to come on. They explained the tear was due to broken engine mounts and and that I needed to replace not only one but all 3 engine mounts as well as replace both Air Intake Sleeves, and quoted me a total of $1100.00 for the repair. After thinking about it for a day, I patched up the tear in the sleeve with some electrical tape causing the "Check Engine" light to go away and drove it to another mechanic for a second opinion. He looked at the car and told me that only 1 Air Intake sleeve had to be replaced and that only 1 out of the 3 engine mounts were bad. He showed me that the other two mounts were in good and working condition. I was able to get my vehicle repaired for under $250.00 The parts that Affordable Automotive quoted me were in fact more expense than if I had bought them directly from the dealer. I've taken my vehicle to Affordable Automotive on numerous occasions and I've recommended them to friends in the past, but after trying to up-sell me on parts and labor that I didn't need, I don't think I'll be going back to them again. read more

Despite the price being outrageous (already expected), they would always fins other "broken things" within the car. We decided to sit on it and wait, til we realized Affordable Automotive right down from where we live. We could literally go walking. What a blessing! We dropped off the car overnight, next day they gave us the estimate, the price was beyond affordable! We couldn't believe the problem was something so little and cheap, compared to the other place. Not to mention they went above and beyond to try to figure it out why the sunroof wouldn't close and out of their way to make sure it wouldn't get rained inside while parked outside. Mechanic was in the greeting room with the front desk guy. Both were great to talk with and mechanic was very knowledgable. Very happy with the service and price was less than I was quoted at a major dealership. Win/win! read more
