Came by for a late lunch/early dinner to this new-ish restaurant. It is very spacious with seating outside and in, and the decor/overall vibes are nice. Service was great and we ordered a lot of food (however, I only took pics of my main entree). We ordered the baba ghanoush, hummus, raw kibbeh, falafel, and feta cheese. All of the appetizers were delicious, especially the hummus and raw kibbeh. For my main entree I got the grilled snapper which was good! Nothing too special but I was craving fish and it satisfied that craving. Overall, a great restaurant to check out!

When I say there's a lot going on at the Affendi Grill, I mean a lot! And, all of it is pleasing. First of all, the Affendi Grill is huge. There's outside/covered dining available in three different, but closely situated areas. In addition, our very cordial and knowledgeable waitress, Nash mentioned Hookah is offered for those inclined. Now, that's a twist, for sure. The main dining room is adorned with white tablecloths and black napkins, giving it an air of a more formal dining experience. There's also an outside waiting porch area with a small couch. Quite a nice addition. However, the room that stands out the most is in the rear and party ready with a flickering fire on the large wall television. It's all quite impressive. The entire restaurant is very nicely decorated. But, let's not forget the intriguing aroma that welcomes you, tempting your palate, as you are seated and presented with a complimentary dip while you begin viewing their diverse Mediterranean menu, featuring Syrian and Middle Eastern foods. Now for the food. Of the few dishes we shared, they were all extremely well prepared and presented. Nash wasn't wrong when she mentioned that the Sautéed Octopus was often stated to be the best ever tasted. Moist and tender, it was indeed delicious. We tried their Dip Sampler, which was very tasty. And, the Mixed Grill Kabab consisting of chicken, beef and Kafta. Totally yummy. I can't wait for my next dining experience at Affendi Grill.

Dined here with friends. Good service, nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I had the Gyro Sandwich which came with fries. It was a really good sandwich, not the best I've ever had, but it was good and I enjoyed it.

One of the BEST new restaurants that opened up with some of the best lunch specials. First of all the restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous! With its big windows and white tall ceilings the restaurant has the most beautiful, open, airy, and light feeling to it. It's romantic (even during the day) and soft and just beautiful. The food here was absolutely delicious. We stopped for lunch and ordered from their lunch menu and both our dishes were amazing, so good. We ordered the falafel appetizer and it was the perfect start to our meal. You can tell the falafel was made fresh because it arrived to the table hot and crispy and full of flavor. For our entrees we ordered the lunch kafta kabob which was served with rice and a salad and the fattoush salad with grilled chicken. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The grilled chicken and kabob were perfectly cooked, soft and tender full of flavor. You get a really nice portion as well even from the lunch menu which was great as well. We ended our meal with their baklava and it was the perfect way to end a great meal. Some places serve the baklava and it's so sweet you can hardly eat it. Here though the baklava was perfect! Just the right amount of sweetness! Service was top notch here as well. Our server was very warm and friendly and came to check on us regularly. The owner of the restaurant stopped by as well to check on us and we were happy to let him know we will be happy to come back real soon for some more great food. Everything here was absolutely delicious, we had a great time, service was great, and we really enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend trying this new restaurant you won't be disappointed.

The sign is up! Coming soon (formerly Umberto's)

We had an excellent lunch here. They've only been open a very short time and are still being "discovered", but you might want to go sooner rather than later. Especially if you like middle eastern food. They will be quite popular soon. The owner is Syrian and has had a couple other restaurants locally. However, our waiter was from Turkey originally so my husband got to practice the few Turkish words he remembers from being there years ago. The staff is multi cultural so English is no problem. The restaurant is located at the old Umbertos just before the intracoastal bridge on the south side. There's ample parking. They have a dining room in front and outside patio dining to come. They are working on the back room for future private events and parties, too. There is a lunch menu with specials -- quite reasonably priced. However, we chose to share a few appetizers/starters instead from their regular menu. We loved their spinach pies. The filo dough was so light and flaky. They were served hot and freshly made. We also shared their meat grape leaves. Packed with rice and a some ground lamb, they were lemony and tasty. We also had their chicken livers. They were sauteed with onions and mushrooms. My husband liked these a lot. They were good, but they were not my first choice. We chatted with another couple dining there. They liked the felafel and loved the meat pies. We definitely will be returning to try more of their menu.

We went for lunch you walk into a big bright room w/ white linen tablecloth. A big welcome we were seated with menus plus the lunch special menu. We both had the chicken kebabs which came with rice salad pita bread on the table with a special oil and all kinds of Seasonings that you dip in. It was very good and moist.

I used to dine at a cute little Mediterranean Restaurant near Pompano Beach. Food was good, ambiance was so so. But then the people who opened it sold it off and it reopened as Cuban. Why am I telling you all this? Because those great people moved across the bridge and reopened in an out of business Umberto's location. They named it Affendi. Completely remodeled inside, the restaurant is light and airy. The people running it met us at the door and warmly greeted us. Our server was Daniel who was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We started off with the dip assortment served with fresh pita bread. It was delicious. Then we ordered Beef Kabob, the Gyro platter, Galaba and a Tawook sandwich. The food was prepared perfectly and served quickly. We passed on dessert as it was Canasta night back at home but we promised to come back soon. BTW they have a nice lunch menu as well.

Gyro sandwich with french fries

We did not know what to expect when entering the new Affendi Grill. The ambience is upscale and very nice. The service was terrific and the food was outstanding. Hubby ordered the Gyro sandwich and I chose to have the lamb shank as it was recommended from a friend. Both choices were fabulous. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection, meat falling off the bone with seasonal vegetables. When we were preparing to leave the sky opened up pouring down rain, and Cory gave us an umbrella to allow us to get to our car without drowning! We totally enjoyed the experience and will be returning very soon.

The food was decent, but the prices are high and the portions are small. Maybe I'll give it another try!

The place was beautifully well designed and the music just brought the vibes. We were greeted immediately by a staff, Miriam. She was very friendly and so informative about the menu. Right when we were sat down another staff came and offered us couple of options of bottled water. The restaurant house bread which was toasted pita with an olive dip was delicious. My son and I had an espresso martini. Best we've ever had and the presentation was beautiful. Miriam gave us suggestions of what were popular and what were her favorites. We went with a couple dishes. Started with the shrimp dish that looked to be cooked in a spicy tomato sauce. It came with a side of pita/naan bread. Both came to the table very hot. The way I like my food. Btw. It was DELISH!!!! Then we had a single order of the mixed grilled. Everything on that platter was so flavorful. I'm usually not a fan of chicken breast but this one had so much flavor and still a bit moist. The filet was so tender and again flavorful. The ground meat stick was very moist and had the perfect amount of seasoning. We ate everything. Really wish we ordered the meal for two. We ended our dinner with their kaniff cheese dessert with a side of pistachios ice cream. The dessert came on a hot plate. It looked dipped in breadcrumbs and fried in butter. Then drizzled with honey and topped with lots of pistachios. It was perfect way to end our dinner. It wasn't too sweet and the pistachios ice cream tasted homemade. Both were so good. Everything Miriam suggested was a hit. My son and I had a great time. We will be back on Friday and bring the rest of our family to try the food and watch the belly dancing show. Everyone there was so helpful. Great place to try Lebanese food. AMAZING!!! Thank you Miriam for making this dining experience wonderful. We started with batata harra and cheese bulak. Both were great! The potatoes in the batata harra were very well seasoned and flavorful. For our entrees we got chicken tagine and lamb chops. I must say the lamb chops were phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. I definitely recommend getting them medium. NEW FAMILY FAVORITE ALERT…read more My family and I love Mediterranean cuisine and this restaurant is officially a go-to. We started with several appetizers including spinach pies, falafel, and the Hommous sampler. The falafel was crisp and packed with flavor! I can't recommend the toum (garlic dip) enough. I would put this spread on anything! Another standout that we were all pleasantly surprised was their fries! These are the crispiest, most delicious side dish. Don't skip them. For dinner we had their moussaka and shish combo. The lamb, chicken, and kabobs were perfectly cooked- so flavorful and juicy! For dessert we had their bread pudding and Dubai chocolate brownie that came recommended from our waitress. Definitely enough to share and very decadent. Lastly, I want to compliment the service. Our drinks were always full, food came out altogether, and they took the time to explain various dishes and how they differ from the typical Mediterranean dishes. Our waitress was an absolute delight!

Several people said how good it was when they ate their last, , but had been a year or so since they had been there. Service was sporadic but they were all pleasant. The lentil soup was liked by one person and the other said it was the blandest soup she'd ever had. She put salt and finally the garlic sauce in the soup to declare it edible. She asked the server if it had changed and he said no, it was the same. We all got the chicken breast shish kabob lunch, and one got the sandwich. For me, the chicken was flavorful but a bit overcooked. I would suggest using boneless thighs or smaller piece of breast on lower heat. The rice has almonds in it but completely bland with no flavor. However what was the worst - the grilled vegetables were BURNT- see picture. The pepper were charred, squash dissolving from overcooking. It tasted like eating a piece of charcoal. There are way too many Mediterranean type restaurants in the area to have bad food - or frankly even try them again. I would not go back.
