What a nightmare! We ordered 2 dressers from them to match our acorn colored bed frame and nightstands. When it arrived 6 weeks later we noticed the color had a reddish tint to it which didn't match at all and we could see on the box that it was clearly labeled "chestnut". For those who don't know the difference, acorn and chestnut are a vastly different shade of brown. Acorn = light neutral brown while Chestnut = darker reddish brown. We emailed them about this because we wanted to return the dresser and they insisted that it was the same color they showed online just at a different light angle.. We have side by side photos and you can CLEARLY tell they are vastly different. They then said we'd have to pay $808 to ship it back + $192 in restocking fees OR they could take 10% off the order.. We paid $1,800 for both dressers. We have submitted a chargeback and they are currently disputing it saying that they simply "renamed" the color variation which is a flat out lie. They don't even make any of this stuff. They are drop shippers meaning they post pictures and have the real manufacturers send them from their own website. Stay away from these guys. At least on other stores they have a respectable return policy. These people have absolutely horrible customer service. read more

I am currently at 3 weeks post original "white glove" delivery and the dining set I ordered is still in pieces in my dining room and I still don't have 2 of the 6 chairs I ordered due the then having large gouges in them upon delivery. The 4 of the 6 total chairs in my possession are wobbly and they've now determined that they are defective and are offering a 15% discount OR they'll send me the parts IF I tell them what parts I need!!?? This is AFTER they sent out a claims repair company called Schatzman yesterday. I've talked to and emailed their claims and customer service department nearly daily since the original delivery date of 4/27. It's been a runaround and I was told that a manager would call me but I haven't received a call; just continue to hear from different people in their "claims" department. They barely speak English on the phone and they tell you different things than the claims people in email. I just can't believe now they are asking me what parts I need. I also had to keep reiterating what equipment I have and what went wrong. I have so many emails and have made so many calls. I just told them I'm opting to return the set and to have a manager call me tomorrow. I'm sure they'll try to charge me but I'm going to call my credit card company. We ordered a Warrendale leather double reclining sofa and a matching leather recliner. Both are very beautiful and just what we needed in the living room. The price was excellent! The sofa's right rear "shipping leg" leg was damaged, but the small cardboard box underneath the sofa had all four wood permanent legs to screw in their place. so be advised that Barcalounger ships furniture with non-permenant legs, but has the real legs along with the order. I wish I had seen these reviews before I purchased from AFA. I bought a recliner and when I received it, the leather was bunched up to the point that it would easily tear. I called the same day I received it and they said I had to file a claim which I did. They sent out a technician to evaluate the chair and I was told that was normal. They declined my claim. This is totally unacceptable. If I had seen this in person I never would have bought it. Also, I currently own a recliner made by the same company but purchased from a different retailer. Finally sent me the cost of shipping, nearly $1000, yet online, shippers, UPS, FedEx, transit companies, just under $300, but you have to use their shippers. Questioned the amount, no response. I was able to get someone one the phone but they only directed me to send in a complaint and was warned would take at least 3 days for a reply. Deceptive marketing- Extorted Return/Restocking Fees I purchased a set of Barstools from AFA Stores. There were several issues with the product when it arrived. The AFA webpage shows the seating color bright white, when the seats are cream in color, deceptive advertising to begin with. Two of the seats were also stained with black fingerprint smudges, and one of the footrests was scratched. There was also missing hardware to put one of the seats together, so only three chairs have the necessary hardware, which means chair number is trash. I immediately emailed customer service who offered a 15% discount to keep the product, which I declined. I was then told to open the 2nd box to inspect the damage. I informed the merchant outside of the damage, the seats were not the advertised color, and that I would not be keeping them but needed to return. I was then informed by the merchant that they would replace two chairs, and that was their final offer. I didn't agree with that and informed them of their deceptive advertising, with the color of the product not being the same as what was delivered, and that I wanted their address and I would pay for the shipping myself. AFA Stores then informed me they won't let me ship the product back myself, and that they would have to quote me for return shipping. I was quoted $311 for shipping, and another $78.60 for restocking. The purchase price of the chairs is $786, so the merchant is charging more than 50% to return the product. These people are as dishonest as can be. Do yourself a favor and go with a reputable company like Wayfair, that will accept returns and not try to extort 60% of your purchase price. Pay close attention to their reviews, they are accurate. read more

I placed an order over the internet. When placing the order, the internet side stated in bold type all merchandise was returnable. When my recliners were delivered, assembled, and tried to use, the rec.iners were defective. They would not stay in reclined position. I contacted AFA asking for a return form. The delivery company took the shipping boxes and material with them. AFA said I would have to pay for more shipping material, $1000.00 shipping fee, and $400.00 restocking fee. One of the lights was damaged, I adhered to the return policy, but they insisted it fall under their "BUYER'S REMORSE" policy. So I not only did I have to pay the restocking fee, but the return shipping. After over a month of calls and correspondences I just wanted to escape their horrendous customer service department. I purchased the Parker House - Huntington 6PC Large Glass Bookcase Library Wall Set in Antique Vintage Pecan in Dec.2024 It was backordered until Feb. 2025. Upon arrival, shipping company unwrapped the pieces and most were damaged. We called AFA Stores and they to keep it, we'll send replacements for the desk/bridge piece and new hinges for the glass cabinets that wouldn't close. They said 30 days. Not even. Fast forward to July 2025, new pieces finally arrived. We paid for assembly so delivery company did that. They almost left before we stopped them to change out the hinges on the class doors so they would close. However, there is a serious "color" difference. The left shelving unit is MUCH lighter than the middle and right. But it's been 8 months so we're keeping it. I cannot recommend AFA Stores. read more

Tracking number never comes nor have I received the rest of my order. When I told them I wanted to cancel the order I was told "we'll take care of that and they hung up". Manufacturer had some iffy quality control. With that said, I reached out via email to AFA Stores on the same delivery day with a request for replacement via email. No reply from them. I called, they said they'd look into it. I called 5 days later and they said that it's in their claims department and they can't do anything until claims reaches out the the Manufacturer. So after waiting a month for my order to be delivered, then the disappointment of defective chairs and refusing the shipment, 7 days pending AFA to do something, and they've done nothing. Never buy anything from these crooks. I purchased a bookcase from them and received an email that it would ship "in 3-4 days". After 10 days no response I called them and cancelled the order. John yelled at me that I could not cancel as it had shipped. I had no delivery scheduled. I demanded they cancel the order. I informed Visa of the cancellation and filed a complaint for refund of my over $500. Suddenly on July 14th I received a delivery schedule from Metropolitan Warehouse. I called the warehouse and informed them the order was cancelled and DO NO DELIVER ANYTHING TO MY HOUSE ! The warehouse agreed. On July 19th Metropolitan Warehouse left the bookcase at my front door with now prior notice. I called them immediately and came back a picked it up. Again I contacted AFA and Visa to remind them the order was cancelled. Visa informed me that no refund had been made. Meanwhile I received an email from AFA stating they would withhold ove $200. for restock fee. So how do you restock something that has never been pulled from inventory? What a bunch of scam artists !
