Aerotech and Mike Smith are top notch professionals who are honest, professional, and do a great job. As the weather started to heat up, our 20 year old air conditioner wasn't putting out cool air anymore. A friend from church recommended Mike Smith (Aerotech) so my wife sent him a text late Friday night. He called back and said he'd come out at 0730 Saturday morning and take a look. Mike pulled up to our house at 0728 Saturday morning, got his gear and went to work checking our HVAC system. My wife and I were a bit terrified at what might be coming. Mike finished his evaluation, sat down with me and gave me a straight forward and comprehensive explanation of what our options were going forward. He also gave me a breakdown what a replacement system would entail and how much the bottom line would be. I was surprised at how reasonable the cost of the system was quoted. He actually said to take some time, think things over and let him know. There was absolutely no pressure to make a decision one way or the other. After talking it over with my wife, we decided to have the older system replaced rather than fixed. I called him back that day and he scheduled our repair for Thursday at 0730. Mike and his crew showed up at 0730 Thursday morning, worked all day - I honestly don't know if they took any breaks. They removed the old systems and installed the new furnace and the air conditioner by about 1500 hours. They cleaned up the area (better than they found it) and Mike came in, went over the install and the operation of the new thermostat. Then what to expect with the upcoming inspections. Mike and his team were professional and did a great job. I'd give them a higher rating if I could. It actually makes me question the few negative reviews on Yelp. I will only use Aerotech for any HVAC related issues I have in the future. read more

Mike has been my HVAC contractor for over 15 years now. He has installed new furnace and air conditioning systems in two of my homes. With his expert diagnostic skills and little cost to me, I was able to extend the life of the system in one home until the 28 year mark. He is honest and upfront and never upsells anything just to make his day financially successful. His reputation stands alone in an industry that is rife with gouging and upselling in today's economy. Mike will take the time to explain what's wrong in layman's terms without rhetoric and double speak. It is greatest hope that Mike never retires Review by Julie Kennedy read more

Mike is still the go-to for my HVAC repairs and servicing. Super knowledgeable guy of course as he has been doing this since the 90's. He's replaced my HVAC system in my first home and made fixed ducting issues at my current home. He just came out and replaced the blower motor for my HVAC and my family couldn't be more appreciative of his work. Aerotech is still our first choice and call when it comes to HVAC. read more

Mike Smith is a lifesaver! On the hottest day, my HVAC broke down. Another company convinced me I should buy a new unit. Thousands of dollars to replace a unit only 13 years old. I called Mike, after my friend recommended him. Mike came over right away to assess the problem (on a Saturday). He replaced one burned out capacitor and my home has air again and he saved me thousands of dollars! He will be my go to person for heating and air from now on! God bless you Mike. I highly recommend Aerotech! Ken S read more

Mike was super responsive when I called him to provide a bid on a heat pump system when my 15-year old compressor died. (My in-laws used his company for their new furnace a few months ago and they were very happy.) His bid was lower than the others and there was no upselling or hidden costs. He installed the new system and it's working great. Mike is very experienced, knowledgeable, communicates well, is quick to respond to my texts messages and I find him completely trustworthy. I wanted to work with a smaller company because I was tired of the big company's monthly "club plan" and them trying to upsell their products and services. I'm very satisfied with Aerotec'h's work and look forward to keeping the equipment maintained well with Mike's services. He and his crew worked quickly, efficiently, respectfully and cleaned up thoroughly when they were finished installing the new equipment. I would recommend Aerotech Heating and Cooling for your HVAC needs. read more

Really ZERO stars! Went through my home warranty. This company sent 1 person who went into several part of my house including attic. Never submit paperwork to warranty company. Same place sent a 2nd person. I hired Mike Smith from Aerotech 11 years ago to install a new Trane HVAC system in my house. His price was reasonable compared to other bids, he was efficient, on time, took care around my house and property, and there was no up-selling, service contracts, or hidden fees. He also offered a 10-year warranty at the time which he has honored on a few occasions when I needed repairs. He is always very responsive and professional. And recently, when my AC went out the evening before the 4th of July, I was able to leave a message for him at 10:00 that night, and he was here to fix the problem, and had the part needed, by noon on that holiday. I was so grateful, especially with the heat we've been experiencing, and I don't think I would've gotten that kind of response from any other company. I would highly recommend! read more

We would highly suggest Mike from Aerotech. He provides a transparent and straightforward approach to his practice. We've gone through a few contractors for HVAC related work, and nothing came close. He walks you through every intricate detail of his diagnostic and explains exactly what comes up. Things flow naturally with him, and i guarantee that you'll like the results. This review is overdue, related to service call made the week before Christmas when our heater died in the middle of a freezing snap. We'd used Aerotech on two other occasions so my husband gave them a call again and we were not disappointed. The owner arrived within 30 minutes and quickly found the problem--a fried part-- replaced the part and got the heater back in working order. Quick, easy, and inexpensive fix. This was in an older unit and it would have been easy to tell us anything and oversell a repair, but this never seems to happen with Aerotech. Always quick service, always a reasonable price that leaves you feeling appreciative, not robbed. I'm not someone who takes time to write reviews for no reason. If I give a review, it was well earned, good or bad :) in this case, this is just an honest company that has done us right every time (3X now). Highly recommend! read more

See the video I posted for my review of this company, or at least the technician who came out today. I notice all these glowing 5 star reviews are all from 2014-2017. I don't see a single one from the past 9 months. read more

Mike and his team are the absolute best. I first met him about 4 years ago when we thought we might need a new system. He came out, inspected the system, took video and explained the options. Most surprising? He refused to accept a penny for his time and efforts. Fast forward a few years and I decided to be proactive and replace the system. His bid was half of the other company I called, he and his very talented son and other team member completed the work in 8 hours, cleaned up and arranged for two inspections, a "pre" to make sure all was good and the official one from the City of Sacramento. He even filled out the paperwork for the SMUD rebate! Hard worker, fast, neat and great with his son and worker. It was a pleasure to see them working together. Highly, highly, highly recommend! Best of all, my bills are down exponentially. read more

Aerotech Heating & Cooling has saved the day for my family twice in the past few years and I wouldn't go with any other company as a result. For starters, I have a GE heating & air system from 1975 so many or most heating & air companies would try to convince me to replace the entire unit during a service call. Not Aerotech. Mike (owner & technician) was honest on both service calls and recommended replacing the parts that needed replacing. The first call (around three years ago), it was the fan inside of the unit, which wasn't an expensive fix. During the recent, it was the capacitor, which was only a small fee to replace. I should mention, Mike also conducted a visual inspection of my unit and showed me a few areas of concern, but again, did not even for a second attempt to convince me to replace my unit. To me, this is honesty and integrity in a nutshell. When the time comes (and I hope that it's not too soon) to replace my entire heating & air system I have zero doubt about the fact that Aerotech will be receiving the business. I know that I can trust Mike to do the job right and at a very fair price. Do yourself a favor and stop looking around. Aerotech heating & cooling is the best value! read more

Called Mike on what appeared to be the busiest day of the year. While he couldn't come out that night, we made an appointment for the next day. While he was very busy, and had a full schedule already, I explained that my tenants had been without a/c a few days and I was taking time off from work to meet up with him at my rental unit, so he made arrangements to meet up with me. He was early for the appointment, and within minutes had diagnosed the issue, and within a few more minutes was completed with the repair; He had a new part in his van and ready to go. I was more than happy to write him a check and this review; it's the least I could do for someone who went above and beyond. On a day when 6 (yes 6) other a/c repair businesses called and cancelled on me, Mike came through. On hot days, Mike remains cool! read more

My new heating unit stopped working and of course they not only wanted to charge me to diagnose it, but stated they wouldn't be able to come until approximately two weeks! I called Mike at Aerotech and he not only scheduled me for the very next morning; he found the problem, fixed it within an hour and the cost was less than the other company's scheduling fee! You can't go wrong when you call an honest repair company and ask for Mike! read more

Here's my story: Mike Smith from Aerotech replaced the coils on my A/C two years ago. My HVAC system is located in the attic. Last week, I noticed the floor around the unit was soaking wet. I called Mike again, because I figured he had done a good job first time, so why not use him again? When Mike came out, he told me he did not see any water, and that the floor was not wet. But Mike did advise me that I needed a whole new system, because the HVAC was "old". Mike said he would do the work for $12,000. (Mind you, my HVAC (both cooling and heating) had been working perfectly. Had it not been for the wet floor in the attic, I would not have known anything was amiss.) Naturally, I got a second opinion. I called CABS Heating and Air, and they came out right away. It turns out that Mike Smith from Aerotech had done a terrible job on the coil repair two years before! I had never gone up into the attic to check his work, because I assumed (from all the positive Yelp reviews) that he was honest and competent. Big mistake! The water on the floor under the HVAC unit was due to the shoddy coil replacement Aerotech had performed. Here's the laundry list of things Mike Smith screwed up: 1) installed the coils OUTSIDE the unit and did not insulate any of it; 2) installed new drainage piping incorrectly (used straight pipe, so bugs from outside could make a beeline for the coils); 3) used a book (Yes, A BOOK!) to prop up the pipe, as opposed to using a 2x4 or a brace, as is standard practice; and, 4) failed to install a pan or basin underneath the system. The CABS technician who came out to do a second opinion took pictures of the entire disaster that Aerotech had performed. I am not exaggerating--it was a DISASTER. The workmanship was horrendous, the coils were as cheaply (and quickly) installed as possible, and incorrectly fitted! Clearly Mike Smith either did not know what he was doing, or could not have been bothered to do a decent job, if he did. I will NEVER use Mike Smith or Aerotech again. I have photos of the entire debacle. I will post those later today, so you can see for yourself what a shoddy, awful, unprofessional job Aerotech did. Save yourself a whole lot of money, and go with someone else for your HVAC needs. I thought CABS did a pretty good job. I would recommend using them or someone else instead. Thank you. read more

We are so pleased to be able to give a great review on YELP.com for Aerotech Heating & Cooling and would certainly call him again, as well as, recommend him to our friends & neighbors. What happened was we returned home to find the heating system not staying on once it was turned on. We spent 1 night without heat thinking we could fix it ourselves the next day. That next day we could not figure out what the issue was so we searched Angie's List and ended up contacting Aerotech Heating and Cooling and Mr. Smith was available almost immediately. When he arrived he was professional, courteous & polite. He looked at the unit, diagnosed a possible problem and went to work. As it turned out he stated he would replace a certain part & if that part did not fix the issue he would try something else. Well, the original part replacement was not the issue & he put our part back in & replaced the 2nd part, which turned out to be the issue. What was also nice is when he had to go to his shop to pick up the part he returned within an hour. He also did not mind us watching him work on the HVAC and even told us some things we did not know. We had asked him some questions about the unit. as well as, some questions about possible replacement down the road. He did not pressure us into purchasing a new unit, nor did he perform any unnecessary work. We would highly recommend Aerotech Heating & Cooling. JOB PERFORMED on 12-10-12: Mr. Smith from Aerotech Heating & Cooling checked the HVAC unit and found the "automatic ignition control module" had failed. He drove back to his shop and then came back in an hour with a new one, replaced the failed one, and the unit ran normal. read more

Outstanding and timely response! Approximately 730pm Thursday evening we found the AC stop cooling the air. Condenser and fan outside not working but there was a buzzing. Called at least 5 different repair places, course none were open any longer but assumed would be good to be called in the morning. Early next morning thought I would call a few more "just in case" Mike was one of those. What was amazing was it was early (before 6am) and thought I would leave a message, but someone picked up. Mike said he could be there between 9 and 12 that day. He was and it was fixed by 0940. Mike was honest, had the parts needed and clearly showed he was reliable. Even took time to show me what and why failed. Will certainly recommend in the future to anyone that needs his services. Additional note, of those 8 or so locations I call the evening before and that morning. Only reached 1 other contact and only 2 others returned the calls (they all called AFTER it was fixed by Mike!) Owner / Operator clearly knows his customers and what is important. read more

Aerotech Heating & Cooling is run by a guy named "Mike." He is as honest as they come. Whenever I call him, he picks up the phone. He recently installed a NEW AC and FURNACE for me recently, and did an excellent and thorough job. HIs Clean up effort was even better. Ensuring that he picks up after his work. Truly, not only is he knowledgeable about what he does, he is a good dude! He tells you like it is... Honest and Fair. No gimmicks, not in the business to sell you extra crap. Mike was a pro and a really nice guy. He set the appt for between 7:30 and 9:30am and he was walking up my walk way when I was opening the door at 7:28 to check. Turns out my AC's Motor was fried. My wife and I decided upon Aerotech H&C after a detailed review of top rated whole house HVAC systems and local installers. Finding little to distinguish between the current systems of major manufacturers and finding installation costs to be essentially comparable between the installer/maintenance companies, we opted for installation by an owner-operator of a local company who has received high ratings in Yelp. Consistent with the experience of others reviewing in Yelp, we received top rank service from Mike Smith and his crew that was efficient, detailed and personable. We could not be more satisfied. read more

Talk about impressive! I called Mike, described my problem, and he came right out. I thought that he might be challenged by a 67 year old gas-wall heater, but nope. This guy is great! I called him on my lunch and said I needed him to come out asap and he was there with in 15 minutes! My AC wasn't getting cold enough so he came over and checked it out, he thought it might have been iced up, so we decided to let it melt and see if that solved the problem. So no charge for that, he was knowledgeable and said that it also seemed like the freeon was a little low and to call him if the problem didn't resolve it's self. It totally didn't! So I called him again and he came out. he added a sealer to seal any cracks that might be causing the leak and then added some freeon. Now my house is FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!! After reading all these reviews, I was pretty confident in calling Mike. I wasn't disappointed. I called at 8:00pm expecting to leave a voicemail for a callback the next day, but Mike answered and was able to schedule an appt. for 2-4pm the very next day. At 1pm, Mike called and said he was running *early* and would it be okay to arrive earlier than 2? "Why, of course...". Mike arrived at 1:25-ish... by 1:30 had looked at the thermostat & intake and was up on the roof. By 1:45 he told me what I needed (sealant and a recharge of coolant). He said he would hose off the coil for free. Overall, he did a thorough inspection, gave me advice on scheduled maintenance and hit his estimate on the mark -- he even left the empty can of sealant with me to show me what he used, and explained what it did. He left at 2:05... 5 minutes after he was initially due to arrive. As previous reviewers have mentioned, Mike is an all-around good guy. He doesn't try to sell you into upgrading your A/C or anything. I know most A/C vendors recommend upgrading every 10 years, but even knowing my unit was 12 years old, he still said it was in great shape and had a good 5-10 years left in it. Just get it serviced every 2 years and it will keep running. I will definitely be calling Mike again to do that maintenance... and when it comes time to get a new unit. read more

I very rarely write reviews, but felt compelled after interacting with Mike. He stopped by my townhouse to look at an old unit that stopped working. I was pretty surprised at his response. He told my father that nothing could be done except for a $9-$10,000 replacement. I called and he said "there are just no other options". After having a number of other contractors out at the unit, I had repair and replace options from $3,000 - $7,500. Even the higher end efficiency stuff was $2K cheaper. I think this company is probably good for very small jobs or for handyman type work, but they are astronomically expensive in all other areas. I got a total of 5 bids and Aerotech was the highest by far. I ended up with a full replacement of both indoor and outdoor units for less than half of what Aerotech told me was "the only option" Buyer beware. read more

Thank you, Mike. I have air conditioning. Was pleased with the service in that he was on time, diagnosed the problem quickly and was out the door in 20 minutes. Ten of those minutes were spent writing up the invoice and me writing the check. I did have some sticker shock when the service cost was $550. Seemed like a lot to me, but what do I know about HVAC. Nothing. Now that I had the information to know what the issue was, I called around for estimates which ranged from $230 to $375. He's not the "cheap guy" like he says. In fairness, I called him and he said he'd come back and remove the parts. I declined. I say this as much for myself, as anyone reading this review. Get three free estimates. Do your research. Know going in what the average price of the parts are and the average fee for the cost of that repair. I just hope I will listen to my own advice. read more

Don't trust the Aerotech no service fee claim. This business just adds it on to any service they do as a labor charge, installation charge or some other name charge. I left a message the night before and he called me the next day 1 hr and 30 mins after the business opened. I asked him about his service charge and how much for 2 pounds of freon. The total came to $165, zero for service call $50 per pound of freon and $65 freon install labor charge. That one minute call gpt me an idea of where Aerotech prices and fees are at. Another ac guy was calling me back so I told him," I'll call you right back." 4 minutes later I call him back and ask him how long his no fee diagnosis take and he mumbles "I don't have time for this", and hangs up. I tried to call him for 5 minutes straight so I can hear his lame my phone disconnected excuse and when he answers he tells me he has just scheduled 5 more people in the minutes I took to call. LMAO. The rest of our conversation isn't fit for yelp so I'll let you imagine. Trust me YOU DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS. Mike let's here your reply about work, people, busy, calls, pricing, blah blah blah. Here the math: When you buy freon from Aerotech he charges $50 for a pound and $65 for labor installing the freon. Where most other ac servicers charge $50 for a pound with labor included to install the freon. They also charge $65 for a full diagnostic of your system that take 45mins to an hour. read more

Mike is an old-fashioned businessman. I called him on Thursday and asked when the soonest was that he could come out. I'd been dealing with 2 other AC companies since early June and my AC was still not fixed. Mike said he could come out Saturday between 9 and noon. He showed up around 11am and quickly changed out the contactor part. However, the AC still would not turn on. He had a look at the thermostat in the hallway and realized it needed to be changed out too so he did that in about 10 minutes and I finally had air conditioning! It feels like such a luxury, having been without it for a month and a half (though Mike says in Sacramento, AC is not a luxury, it's a necessity and he is right!)
