I drove about 25 minutes from work on my lunch hour (took an extended lunch). He shows up about 30 minutes late (I was on my way out) and he said he got a flat and that it was no big deal, we could do it another time. He never called GG to tell them to let me know he wasn't going to make it back and to reschedule. Fat coward three years until this week. I stopped back in and scheduled a golf lesson. He looked in his book and said he was open at 10am on Sunday 1-6. I drive there from my house (about 35 minutes away) and walk in the door only to be told by Craig that he made a mistake and it was supposed to be next Sunday. Apparently he is the only one who's time is valuable. Stay away, he will screw you too.

The place is owned by the little guy out back and the taller lady at the front. The female owner is VERY knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. She will patiently listen to what you need and spend whatever time necessary looking up your parts and be sure to give you all your options, regardless if a $10 item or a $100 item. She is no pressure, and honest about any experiences they have had if you ask for her opinion. The husband is ok, you can tell he is busy, but he tries to listen and help you, and often refers you to his wife at the front counter for help. It is my understanding that he used to run the service dept at K&K Kawasaki in Vestal many years ago. When they first opened and I was looking for an inspection, he gave me crap about my taller than stock handlebars and even measured the height to the seat and told me I was over by a couple inches. Having had the handlebars on for over 15 years, I was about to tell him what I thought and leave, but he seemed to look past it, and kept looking the bike over, so I gave him a chance to prove he wasnt a dick. Glad I did. I had a problem with my horn and he let me fix it and kept on with the inspection. He passed it, but did look everything over. I have purchased tires, throttle cables, fuel additive, some gloves, etc... from them when stopping in. I recently called around for new tires again and their prices were as good as the best price I found online! They have been at their location now since probably 2007 or 2008 and I expect with their good part prices and the amount of service they do, they will be there for a long time to come. A welcome addition to Vestal. Stop by and give them a chance for your motorcycle and ATV needs. I am glad I did.

At that time, most mechanics were closing up for the day, and my only alternative was to get a tow to a tire shop and hope they could fit me in before they closed. Dennis came right out even though I was a bit far away from Conklin. Once he was there he had me fixed up with a new tire and ready to go in less than 15 minutes. Not only had we blown a tire, but we were concerned about a second tire on the same side and didn't feel safe towing our camper any farther. To make matters worse, we couldn't easily leave the campground to get help. After calling multiple tire companies and roadside services, we either got no answer, voicemail, or promises of callbacks that never came. Then we called Wilson's On Site Tire. What a difference. He answered the phone immediately, understood exactly what we needed, and was at our campsite in about an hour and a half. He came prepared, inspected the situation, and replaced both tires right there at our site. The price was extremely fair, especially considering the convenience, the urgency of our situation, and the fact that he came directly to us. What impressed us most was his professionalism and reliability. When you're stranded with a camper, every hour feels like a day. He did exactly what he said he would do, showed up when he said he would, and got us back on the road safely with zero drama. If you're in the Binghamton or Conklin area and need mobile tire service, especially if you're towing an RV, camper, trailer, or boat, don't waste time calling around. Call Wilson's first. Reliable, responsive, professional, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. He turned what could have been a trip-ending problem into a minor inconvenience, and for that we're incredibly grateful. We had, at length, discussed what color to put on it and instead of the pretty, warm red, I got dark brown eggplant. I have had the red for years with various highlights in it and thought I was getting one color. Either communication broke down between us, which is unlikely the case, or she mixed the wrong dye and let it overprocess (very likely as I know how much time I usually spend processing). She refuses to refund my money, attempt to fix it, or have anyone else in the salon fix it. They tout themselves as the "color fixers," but clearly they are unwilling to clean up their own mess.

Meloling is great if you want to sharpen mower blades and just about anything else industrial,…read moreheavy duty. They do NOT, however, do well with sharpening kitchen knives. I took my handful of four Global Knives to Meloling and they were all duller than when I brought them in for sharpoening. These knives require a 10-12 degree beveled edge. After they were "sharpened" I excitedly took them home to try them out. I literally could not cut a carrot without using excessive force. The real disappointment though is that a local high school's kitchen *chef* was the one who referred me to Meloling. Aside from the disappointment of my dull kitchen knives, I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Jim, the owner. His shop is full of very interesting sharpening machinery, like a museum of heavy duty equipment. He's a good storyteller and knows the local area's history as well. :) Oh, and his prices are very reasonable.
