Long Beach Airport - LGB

Long Beach Airport (LGB) has always been my first choice whenever I travel to the Los Angeles area…read morefor business, especially when I'm flying out of Sacramento. It's not necessarily because the airfare is cheaper, but because the whole experience is so much easier compared to LAX. There are fewer hassles, and getting in and out of the airport is incredibly convenient. One thing I really enjoy about LGB is its old-school charm. When you land, you walk down the aircraft stairs directly onto the tarmac and make your way to the terminal. It almost feels like stepping back into the 1960s or 1970s, when air travel had a completely different atmosphere. There's something pretty cool about that experience, especially compared to the typical jet bridge setup at larger airports. The terminal itself is relatively small, but that's part of what makes this airport so appealing. Everything feels close by and easy to navigate. You might even see the pilots and crew walking around. Despite its size, LGB has pretty much everything I need, including a few good dining options. Another major advantage is how quickly you can leave the airport after landing. In my experience, it can take as little as five minutes to get outside to the pickup area. That's a huge benefit when you're traveling for work and just want to get on with your day instead of spending unnecessary time navigating a massive airport. During my most recent visit, there was some construction going on, and the restrooms had been temporarily relocated to a designated area. It was a minor inconvenience, but nothing that really affected my overall experience. For me, Long Beach Airport is easily my favorite airport when visiting Southern California, with John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana coming in second. If you're traveling to the LA area and LGB works for your destination, I would definitely recommend considering it over LAX. It's smaller, easier to navigate, and has a unique character that makes flying a little more enjoyable. Sometimes a smaller airport really does make for a better travel experience!

It makes it so much faster to board and deplane with both front and rear stairs. On the return flight, there was a passenger that was confused by the back stairs and refused to use them. She stood in the isle for a short time saying "I want to use the normal way." She was convinced to step aside and let the rest of use near the back use the back stairs. It was still faster than waiting for everyone to go out the front.

Outlets were avaliable for a long flight but keep on mind, you need a plug outlet that connects to your device. Snacks were provided with a complimentary alcoholic punch beverages along with an egg sandwich. Overall, I would fly out of Long Beach Airport to take Hawaiian Airlines going to Maui. 4 stars, since an LCD entertainment screen was not available. Mahalo

Flew Hawaiian airlines first class yesterday from Maui into Long Beach airport. Flight was smooth,…read moresafe and the pilot's communicated well regarding what to expect upon departure and before arrival. Minimal turbulence. Kid had a rough time & was crying on the plane due to skin infection but I was able to cope through the 4 hour 40 min flight by comforting him at the front of the cabin and we also stayed in the restroom for some time. First class passengers were accommodating for the most part and we had staff that helped with bandages and drinks. I did not get to experience the Hawaiian meal service since I was so exhausted from carrying my child the entire time. Didn't eat at all. Guess I'll have to look forward to that next time. Forgot my phone in row 1 upon landing but their cleaning crew came to hand me the phone after baggage claim ended. Overall the plane ride was good -- service was OK -- and I'm so thankful my family landed safely after enduring 2 hours of a tearful toddler feeling miserable on the flight. At least we had some quiet time for the other 3 hours while he slept from crying too much. Phew - just relieved the entire episode is over.

We considered leaving our car at lax but parking prices were around the same price. So for convenience of not having to park and take a shuttle to lax from the parking lot didn't sound better than paying and getting a lift. I'm all honestly, I would use this service again. At first I had anxiety because I had to do a quote and didn't actually speak to someone verbally. It was all through email and the site. Email replied for the quote was quick (check your junk mail), I had to ask a question to confirm a car seat and received a reply the same day. Our driver Matt text message the night before which gave me piece of mind. He was very accommodating and nice. I even asked him if he was available to pick us up earlier (you know anxiety with traffics/ traveling with a toddler) and he replied right away. It was a smooth easy drive. We paid using Venmo since their credit card system was down. All in all Matt was professional, prompt, easy to work with. I would definitely request to have him drive us again if available. The van he drove was more than enough room and the car seat worked fine. So yes, even with the price, I give this five stars bc it eased my anxiety on traveling with a toddler and needing a car seat. Made the experience traveling for the first time with my kid a great one and made me feel like we could travel more now.

Nevertheless, I received multiple messages confirming my reservation. I wasn't able to get them to cancel the reservation that I had not made either by sending messages online or by leaving phone messages. It was only when I was contacted by the driver that I was able to get him to convey the message to dispatch.
