A very busy little airport, right off PCH near my 'hood. It's named after Louis Zamperini, about whom I hear a movie is in the works. He's an Air Force war hero, who was a POW in WW ll. My plan is to, one day soon, rent a helicopter - including a pilot, of course - at Zamperini Field and take the grand tour of LA by air, which includes the coastline, the Hollywood sign close-up, downtown, et al. That will be one helluva review, stay tuned.

Years ago I wanted to get my pilots license until I realized after flying in a small plane that it is really boring after a while. It's like driving without the mass traffic and I have a fear of small planes now. Give me a 777 or 747 and I am a happy camper. BUT...for those that like to fly small private planes this is a great small airport that offers classes for pretty cheap too. I took a photo of the sign that showed they only charge $7 for overnight parking of your plane...that's hell of a lot cheaper that parking a car. I actually came here because I was hoping they had a little cafe to hang out and have some food and watch the planes but they don't. Robinson Helicopter is also located here. Hey Joan...I will go with you on a helicopter ride.

I grew up around this airport, my father owns one of the SNJ Texans (War Dog) parked near the Robinson Helicopter buildings, and has been based here since 1992.

Tunnel to get there feels like you're going through a basement there's no personality and it's dirty. The only good thing I can say is that this time the staff was friendly and courteous. In times past they were rude and not very welcoming. I have a lot of concerns for LAX during the olympics. I don't think that they're ready, I don't know if they ever will be. Then I ordered a Lyft and I had to wait 15 minutes for a bus to come, it was jam-packed and then I had to go to another lot to get the car. I assume they are doing this to decrease the traffic in the terminals, which I think is a good idea, in theory. They need more buses.

The pre-booked premium entry experience completely eliminated the usual airport arrival anxiety. Driving up to the structure was incredibly smooth, and the automated technology worked perfectly. As soon as I approached the gate, the smart camera system instantly recognized my license plate, matched it to my reservation, and opened the barrier automatically. There was absolutely no fumbling around for phone screens, searching for confirmation emails, or rolling down my window to pull a physical paper ticket. Exit was a breeze too. Being able to seamlessly drive straight out of the structure and hit the road immediately without a single delay was worth every penny. It is easily the most efficient way to wrap up a trip at LAX!

They were giving away some great goodies like magnets, stickers, travel sunscreen, beach balls, and local guides on places to eat. There were five different restaurants available to sit down service restaurants, a Greek restaurant, a Mexican restaurant and a coffee shop with pastries. The shop inside the terminal offered snacks, drinks, and all kinds of different local products. Please see photos below. I would definitely fly into this airport again!

But I have the option to upgrade the ticket and be guaranteed a seat, which seems slimy but I paid an extra 99.00 to be guaranteed. I check in but they next day I see I have been put on standby again, because I didn't also purchase an upgraded seat, the only seats still available are handicap seats and those are locked until the handicapped people check in. So 45 min before my flight I am cleared. I'm on the window of the very last row but whatever. Then we are on the plane, and 40 mins after scheduled departure time(3:25) we haven't left and the captain comes on and says the plane has turned into a pumpkin - there was to be a mandatory check in our destination and if we had been in the air by 359 it would have been fine but since we weren't, the mandatory check had to happen at the departure airport and we are now deplaning. I almost always fly American but the southwest terminal at lax is so much nicer I thought I would take a chance. After spending more than I would have on an American flight, I'm fine with southwest. The last few experiences weren't great but this was the last straw. STAY AWAY if you want to actually want to get somewhere. Even Spirit is superior. I fly every week and my experiences with southwest are the worst. If I could give zero stars I would!!

I like that. I always take flights at the very last minute possible and I hate planning if someone else does the planning so, I'll sabotage you if you try to make me be somewhere at a certain time. I always end up taking the last possible flight. Even if my whole family or friends are on the same flight, but different than me. I've been known to switch airlines at the airport. So, depending on how long until my flight, I shop, so I prefer a long wait time. I am not sabotagable (I am able to make up words, yes) because I mastered the art of not giving a PHUCK when I was in my crib. When you land in Minnesota or Atlanta or anywhere late, it's dark and no one is around. The lights are off even if people continue to fly in and out. That sucks because it ruins the fun mood and when the fun times end, so does my being present.
