I called at 11:30 AM today and he (Stewart) was aerating my lawn a little before 1:00pm. What I thought would take two weeks to complete between contacting and scheduling a time to do the job, was instead done and completed in two hours. He did a great job and saved me a ton of time. The cost is what I would have paid to rent a core aerator myself, except by having Stewart do it he saved me a ton of time and hassle. I am already planning on having him come out and aerate my lawn again in the spring. Very pleased - no complaints here. Last year Stewart ghosted me with no follow up in the email or by phone. This year he said he was going to come, but he did not show up. I prepared my whole yard by pruning and placing flags in all the places that the sprinkler heads were, but that was really just a waste of time. I really had high hopes for Stewart and his company doing work on aerating, seeding and soil modification after reading his site, watching videos and reading reviews. Unfortunately my experience has been horrible though and wouldn't recommend him. It started with filling out his form online for service, which I never heard back from so after a week I called the number and left a message thinking maybe the form had issues. Never got a return call, so another week decided to call again and left another message. Shortly after that message I received a text asking me to fill out the form for faster service. I did right away, texting back it was complete. 5 days later no call, text, email...nothing. Texted the number again that I hadn't heard anything and still nothing.... So with that customer service I would definitely recommend staying away. It's really sad, it's so hard to find good quality yard help around here without people either being flakey or just doing a poor job. I mean I'm trying go give you my business and can't get any sort of response over weeks and multiple tries? Chalk this up to another one of those horrible experiences with yard help sadly. read more

I wouldn't know whether Aerating Thatching Co. does a good job or not. Three years in a row I've filled out the on-line form in the Spring time frame requesting a quote. My location is listed as being in his service area. Not once in three years have I ever received any kind of response. Not even a "we aren't available". Nothing. I have a fairly large lawn in which the Full Meal Deal is likely upwards of $500, which I'm willing to pay. Business must be darned good if they can blow off customers who properly fill out the Quotation form. That's over $1500 that I would have paid over three years. I personally find this unprofessional. You don't invite people to fill out a Request for Quote, meeting all the parameters, and then just not respond year after year. Not the only service company who does that either - others respond immediately. Apparently business must be darn good, or my money isn't green enough for him. read more

I found Stewart's company on a Google search The positive reviews were so positive that I went ahead and asked him to come aerate my lawn. (I was impressed that he courteously responded to most of the negative reviews, shedding light on both himself and the client.) I called him yesterday just after 8am, and before he went into the field to work for the day. His is a small business, without a receptionist. He told me he could come today "after 8:30" and gave me an estimate, which was spot on. He and his associate arrived this morning around 8:45 and the work has now been completed to my high satisfaction. He explained everything he was doing, made suggestions on what I could do on my own (he lists a rake on his site for removing moss), and explained that the wetting agent he spread would have an effect for roughly the next month. In both our phone call and meeting here on site, he was courteous, professional and expert. I told him I would want him to come back in the spring, and he suggested the best way to reach him would be to fill out a request for quote on his website. I owned a small customer facing business for 15 years, and understand his challenges. His is a small shop, without a receptionist, and he is out in the field most of the day, working across the greater Seattle area. If you want to reach him most efficiently, either call between 8am and 8:30am weekdays, or (as he suggested) fill out the request for quote form on his website. read more

Stewart came out today to look at our lawn for the first time....it's not pretty. He has a lot of knowledge about lawns and lawn care and aerated it quickly and efficiently. He also had the difficult task of telling me that a portion of our yard which we sodded ourselves in October had "failed" and needed to be removed and replaced. Not easy news to deliver, but he told me straight up and then proceeded to give me instructions on the best way to deal with the task and what to replace it with. Tough first visit, but I know we will have him back to thatch out all that beautiful Northwest moss in the fall. read more

Two words: VERY FRUSTRATING!! Did not show up. No notice, nothing. I had asked to make sure we got in early in the day for aerating as the soil was delivered the day before. Sent email requesting an ETA as we were concerned the weather report kept moving up when the rain was coming in. I received a response via email with three scheduling options and I chose the last available appointment time available in April. This appointment was confirmed by the company via email. The day came and went with no one showing up. I emailed to reschedule - the reply was some excuse related to a new phone system. I asked for a new appointment and was told to stand by. I'm not sure how I missed the poor reviews given to this company... I should not have contacted them. Not only it took a while to make an appointment (just like it did for almost everybody else who wrote a Yelp review) but they came earlier this week for a lawn tune up and they did a VERY poor job... They used a hand aerating tool (not a core aerator,) poked a few holes in my lawn (most moss is still siting there,) probably fertilized (I can't see the difference but that was part of the job/contract), and PARTIALLY seeded. I had spent days (prior to Aerating Thatching coming to my house) getting rid of ivy and cleaning weed so they could seed grass in the open soil... and not ONE seed was left in the recently cleaned area. I wasn't at home when they came to do the job but it probably took them 15-20 minutes to do what they did... I'm NOT HAPPY. read more

Scheduled aerating for a Saturday. He called and said he'd be out in the next couple of hours. I said I might not be there but my husband would be. After disclosing I was gay, he was a no call no show for our appointment. After 2 hours I called and left a message. I finally get a call back and he said he was at my property but no one was home and he was unable to accommodate our lawn. I don't know if he ever even looked at the lawn. He said he knocked on the door but our dogs never barked and at least one of us was home the entire time. I asked him why he wouldn't have called me the moment he decided he couldn't aerate our lawn. I used this company a few years ago and they did the thatch job for their advertised price. Now it's bait and switch. They said to rake up the thatch it would be an additional $80 on top of their advertised price of $120. The price to rake is not reflected anywhere on their flyer. I would not do business with Aerating Thatching Co because they make appointments and don't show and their prices on their flyer are not reflective of the true cost. This is no way to do business. Don't waste your money. There were 3 of us that had our small front yards thatched and seeded."Stewart" was going to return two weeks after seed was down to take pictures of the progress. Well, he never showed so maybe he already knew how crappy the job was that he had done. We started making calls. Messages were left several times and were never returned. The last call we made was met with a message on the company answering machine saying that they were closed for the season. It's been approx 5 months and still no return calls, or letters. The lawn has not changed, still looks horrible after hundreds of dollars spent. I have a feeling even if he would have come by that it would have cost more $. Stewart does a great job at a very reasonable price by operating in a very efficient manner. That means at times he may not be able to get back to you immediately by phone, I have found that requesting a date a week in advance for an evening he is scheduled in my neighborhood has worked well. His crew is constantly moving from the time he arrives to the time they leave. Meanwhile Stuart generously shares his knowledge on lawn care answering any question I had regarding grass seeds, limes, etc. The first time he came when my lawn was too dry to effectively aerate he suggested coming back later after my ground was more moist. I am really surprised at some of the comments left by other people about their experiences. I feel like they're referring to another company. Our experience was COMPLETELY different! We would definitely recommend Lawn Tune ups! This is our second time using them and we'll be having them come back out in the Fall, too. Stewart is incredibly knowledgeable about different lawns and what it will take to get your lawn looking good again. He also takes time to listen to your concerns and inquiries. He doesn't push the use of chemicals if you're partial to an organic yard and lawn, but he does advise what will work, won't work, and about how long alternatives processes take. I called this company on Friday afternoon and left a message to get an estimate for aerifying on two residential properties. I received a response back on Tuesday morning, letting me know he was available to come out Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning and that there was a flat rate charge for aerifying. The price was very reasonable. So I made an appointment for him to come out at 12 noon on Tuesday. He arrived on time, assessed my lawn, and aerified it. He did a wonderful job, pulling out a lot of plugs. After he was finished, he discussed with me what could be done to improve my lawn, and suggested what I myself could do to save money. He never pressured me into purchasing other treatments from him. He told me step for step what to do and where to purchase the items I needed to keep my lawn lush, green, and healthy. He said it was more cost effective for me to apply the treatments instead of him to do it. He then completed aerifying at my mother's house going above and beyond what was requested of him. He applied a lime application and soil conditioner both reasonably priced. Stewart the owner of this business is a wonderful, professional, honest, and intelligent, man who takes his business very seriously. His equipment is very clean and kept in good working order. We've used the company for 3 years. Stewart has always been responsive and our grass has progressively improved each time we've followed Stewart's recommendations.
