I recently flew on Aer Lingus' route from LGW (London Gatwick) to AGP (Málaga, Spain). I got an okay deal from them. Although I have not flew on a European low-cost air carrier yet, I think they are a pretty good alternative for booking flights from London to various cities in Europe. If you have are frequent flier with United Airlines, Cathay Pacific, or Qantas, it might be good to give them your membership number when you book with them. I think they code-share with them. You could earn some frequent flier miles from the flight, but I did not get any, because I think I paid a low price.
The airplane I flew on was an Airbus A320. The seats were fairly comfortable, but slightly lacked leg room, even though I was flying Economy class. The flight attendants were probably some of the nicest flight attendants I have encountered in a while. They seem consistently enthusiastic compared to other flights they have been on, even when they do the routine safety demonstrations before takeoff. The flight itself was a smooth and somewhat comfortable 3.5 hour flight.
Since I got the lowest price that this airline could offer, they do charge quite a bit when you need other things on this flight. Checking in luggage at the airport is going to cost you £20, but you can save £5 if you say you are going to check in luggage online. I was a little worried that they would make me check in luggage, because I had two pieces, but they let me bring them on the plane. They also charge £5-£10 if you want to choose your seat in advance, and probably at least £3 if you want something to drink and something to eat.
Overall, I would probably check with Aer Lingus again to look for a flight deal from London to any other European city it can serve. read more
