I sent my daughter to this center when it was brand new in 2012-13 until she graduates from high…read moreschool this summer. She practiced the new SAT and some tutoring for her tougher classes, only 2 sessions/week. Whenever my daughter missed school days at a time due to various school team activities, the center accommodated her by arranging her one-on-one tutoring or additional sessions last minutes to catch up. My daughter has gone through the college planning with the center. They help us make college planning: SAT vs ACT, when to take it, and other activities planning. We are happy my daughter is going to a UC and happy to study what she really wants. The center has gone through a couple directors, Susan and Lucy, now Rolean. They are all very nice and personable. They spend time to know your child, set goals, and want her/him to succeed. They did recommend me to buy bigger hour-package because of promotion. When the hour-package goes on sale, they are at the lowest price. Their hour-package only goes up in price after, quarter after quarter. Trust me, I have bought quite a few. It is a form of commitment from both ends, the parents as well as the center. The assistants in the front are always patient and friendly with the students. Some students are very reluctant to be there, and some have overbooked schedule. The assistant plays a role to encourage the reluctant ones to do better and remind overbooked ones to confirm sessions. The tutors I have only met one or two over the years, but they definitely know the subject matter and are qualified to help. My younger child has just started going to the center. I appreciate the center and its staff. It has given me the a peace of mind to know my child has somewhere to get school work help and a place to help with the arduous journey of college planning.

I had been looking for a SAT tutoring service in and around Torrance for my daughter, and after…read morevisiting many which I found to be too eager to get me to sign expensive contracts without regard to what I needed or was comfortable with, I stumbled onto Initia Education (founded by Victor Solís) which has a whole new approach to tutoring! If you get a chance to work with Victor you will be surprised as to how genuinely he cares for you and he goes above and beyond to help you at every step. He is an excellent teacher for SAT skills and strategies and will ensure that you come to a thorough understanding of the materials through your own efforts(my daughter's input). He will address all your concerns patiently, and thoroughly. His motivational and inspirational approach has been invaluable in instilling confidence in my daughter. Victor is a treasure trove of information for college admission and has teamed up with amazing and caring career counselors/college admission specialists to make it a smooth and less stressful journey to college. The test prep is affordable(surprisingly so!) and the tutoring is topnotch! And Victor has always been willing to accommodate my requests about payment plans and never once pressured me to sign off on expensive package deals like the other tutoring services I encountered. Victor's dedication to helping others, his excellence in tutoring, and the generosity of his heart, has distinguished Initia Education from the rest of the tutoring services in Torrance. I am grateful for his continued support for my other kids as well. And I highly recommend his services for anyone looking for a pleasant and smooth experience to an otherwise stressful college admission process.

Afree I paid him for a tutoring package which also included 5 one on one sessions and handbooks that was supposed to be sent to my daughter, everything went wrong. my daughter never received the package which he kept saying went out. Then after the group sessions he disappeared. I set up a phone meeting to discuss which he cancelled the day of stating he had emergency. He advised that he would call me back and that was the last I heard from him. I've left him several text and voice messages requesting a refund since he did not complete the service that i hired him for. He has yet to respond or complete the tutoring he was hired to do. My daughter was left hanging. This should not happen to any student or family. Victor was trusted to help my child and left her hanging. His actions were not only unprofessional but also a breach of contract. DO NOT HIRE THIS PETSON

I was in need of support for my daughter and had not yet heard of educational therapy. From the first phone call to each session, we are greeted with a smile and warm support. After going back and forth for the better part of a year now, South Bay educational therapy has for…read morethe lack of better words stolen IEP funding money intended to help my special needs son. First and foremost Kevin Bansley was the point of contact through all of my emails/dealings with South Bay educational therapy. Kevin offered us 1 date and time only to begin my son's therapy and unfortunately we were not able to accept due to our schedules. No big deal right? Scheduling didn't work out so we could just go our different ways and my family could attempt to find help elsewhere. Kevin Bansley had different intentions though. He stated that they were keeping the money(almost $5000) and no refund would be issued. After several back and forth emails, Kevin agreed to refund some of the money, but wanted to be compensated for the time/services that they did actually render, which we agreed upon. He stated "In regard to your request for a refund, I understand that your family's needs and expectations were not fully met, and I do not wish to create further challenges for your son. Therefore, I will be processing a refund for the services that were not rendered, excluding the two intake sessions, and an additional four hours allocated for diagnostics and extensive communication with Harbor Regional Center and your family. These hours reflect the considerable professional time and expertise dedicated to your son's case." Sounded great. That email was received August 21st 2024. Here it is November 12th 2024. Kevin has still not refunded the money and I honestly do not think he has any intention to do so. Do not be fooled. Kevin Bansley tries to put forth a mission of helping children and families but that is clearly not the case. He has cost my son the help he has needed all year by refusing to follow through with his own words. I implore any and all families thinking about using South Bay educational therapy to help their family to simply ask yourself. "Can my child afford to get the help they so desperately need taken from them? Is it worth the risk to trust this company?"

We signed up for an annual membership but initially worried he might lose interest after a few sessions. Instead, the engaging program and wonderful staff continue to hold his attention and keep him excited to return. The drop-in sessions have been an unexpected highlight, giving him the freedom to build on what he has learned. After starting with a simple shape using a 3D pen, he progressed to creating a robot, a standing bird, and even a functional bracelet. It has been rewarding to watch his skills, pride, and confidence grow. Short videos shared through the Steamoji app also keep us connected to his progress. We also hosted his birthday party here, and the staff went above and beyond to make it memorable. The children completed a STEAM project, played games, and had a fantastic time. Outside food and drinks were allowed, making the experience flexible and easy for parents. Steamoji has become a valued part of our son's routine. This new family-run business combines a proven program with caring staff, and we look forward to growing with them.
