They also have a HUGE selection of one of my favorite brands...Vuori. It's massive and that jeans I don't have to go all the way to Bloomington to shop for Vuori. The associates were extremely friendly and helpful. I also bought a pair of Vuori comfy leisure wear pants for my hubby. Definitely will be back!

They have a great selection of board shorts (no more heavy cotton) and swim trunks. They do a great job of rotating their clothing so every few weeks you are sure to find new shorts and trunks. They also have a really cool selection of shirts too. Awesome casual stuff where you can just throw something on with a pair of jeans or something if you're hitting the beach or the gym. They offer a lot more than just a surf type store, but if you're looking for that they have that too. I think the prices are pretty reasonable. I'm not sure if they have many sales, but the products are quality and reasonably priced. I find that the clothing they carry here tends to run on the smaller side so be sure to try it on.

What Jeff and Bekah Metzdorff have done to make a retail store into the epicenter of running culture in the entire Midwest is remarkable. You will get it when you walk in. You need a pair of shoes and they'll make you run on a treadmill, ask you some questions and you'll be fitted for what shoe fits for you. From there, they have gear you want to wear running. And for those us (myself included) who aren't runners, they have comfortable clothing you will wear daily for comfort or for your own workouts. You go deeper if you're new to the Twin Cities and join a free group run, which is multiple times a week to keep you going. You might even find a date there, it happens oddly often. If you're one of those people who need to run a marathon, you'll see them during the Twin Cities Marathon yelling in the 20s mile area, getting written up in the local neighborhood papers for being too loud. From there, you want them to succeed, and you want to join them. Then you see their brand everywhere. In every race in the Midwest, you will see the brand name. And you'll feel good wearing it as well as you know it's a local business doing things right from the ground up.

What I learned by running myself is their fantastic shop runs that they put on several days per week and on every other Saturday, they have the assisted long run or "ALR" where there a lot of people, maybe ~100 all running different distances and paces on pre-set routes, like a 5K, 10K, 10 mile, etc. so you can pick a distance and pace and probably have someone to run with. They also provide Strava maps on their site so you really will not get lost. Best part is that these runs are free, they do it just because they love running and the running community. Kudos, amigos.

Tucked away from the busy Water Street shopping area in downtown Excelsior, Ace carries a fantastic assortment of mens tees, sweatshirts, hats, jewelry, bags and grooming gear. I wish they had a location in Minneapolis proper (the vibe is perfect for the North Loop), but it's worth the drive. This will quickly become my go-to spot for mens gifts because they literally have everything you need to curate a unique gift set: Cool cards? Check. Unique candles? Yep. Affordably priced jewelry and grooming kits? Check and check. On a recent trip in I picked up a great gold bracelet, a locally-made wood storage crate for my dog's toys and a Huckberry tabletop fire pit, all for under $200 total. The bracelet is a great addition to my formal wear, while the fire pit is a nice fit for my small patio (clean burning using Isopropyl alcohol). The storage crate is short and durable, perfect for my dog to easily identify the toys he wants to play with. Service at Ace is excellent - All staff are super knowledgable of the products and will often tell you the artist or brand they're sourced from. I can't recommend them enough. My son was finally able to ski yesterday with my husband after being medically sidelined for a couple weeks. Anyway, they were on the ski lift after their third run when my son/husband noticed my son's skis were chunking apart all along both skis. My son had not crashed. My son is an advanced but cautious skier and with my husband the entire time. They were at Wild Mountain doing first season runs. Nothing wild about it. Anyway, when they returned I took the skis in as clearly there was a product issue. I was greeted by John in the ski department. I was, undoubtably, frustrated as my son had ski plans for today and starts school ski club Friday. John made a rude comment about me being frustrated and how "kids banging their skis together cause that kind of damage" that immediately put me on defense. My husband and son arrived at 10:45am and I had received a text about the skis falling apart by noon. I again repeated that they had only completed three runs and asked how that was possible my son damaged the skis. John continued to blame my son for the damage. Now my husband is a life long skier, I took skiing up as an adult, and if anyone should have damage to skis it should be me. My husband was floored as to cause as he has never seen skis do this. The manager was brought in and agreed to take the skis back, replace them and bind them (thank you) but that is where the only positive customer service ended. John came back to have me sign a release for mounting and kept going on needing to talk to my son about knocking his skis together (because that is what happened in his opinion) and would not let it go, again and again, even after I again stated this was noted after three runs, first season runs, at Wild. I finally asked John if the entire interaction would have been the same had my husband been standing there instead of me. John continued on. The manager stepped in and told John to give it a rest and he still didn't want to stop. I appreciate the quick turn around help from the manager but the front facing customer service was horrific. Hoigaard's lost a customer last night.
