The school has great teachers and facilities, but we are SUPER dissapointed with the administration. They have had numerous mistakes, including overcharging us for tuition. Their handling of the COVID-19 global pandemic / Colorado state emergency, and the way they treated parents who lost their jobs was shameful. We felt their customer service was awful. Details: 1) The school misspelled our daughter's name multiple times, despite us repeatedly telling them about the error. 2) The school incorrectly entered my email and my wife's email address several times. We often missed emails and had to ask other parents for info. Have corrected it at least 5 times already. 3) The school's text system for lock downs didn't notify many parents. We let the school know a few times, but it was never fixed for us. Kind of scary when there is a shooting near by and we can't stay in touch. 4) We signed up for 4 day program but were overcharged many months at the 5 day rate. When we told the administration, they didn't offer a full refund for the overcharge, and provided no proof or documentation. 4a) We confirmed that our daughter had only attended 4 days since she started with her teacher Ms Angela on 4/6/2020. MsAngela immediately knew she only attended 4 days. Still no full refund from the administration. 4b) Christi, the school administrator, checked their attendance logs, and also confirmed that our daughter had been attending 4 days. Still no full refund. 4c) I have disputed the over charges with my bank following their procedures. This takes time and effort, which is a big waste of my time. Everyone makes mistakes, but the school refused to acknowledge their mistake here. 5) During the state emergency for COVID-19, the school wasn't very flexible on policy and rules for families that lost their jobs and no longer were able to send their kids to school. They insisted on forcing parents to pay the full amount per contract with no compassion, understanding, or compromise......even while the school was closed and parents had to do work they were paying the school for. 5a) During the pandemic, the school closed and didn't offer the same instruction. We got 30min of 1:1 time per week for the full tuition rate. Paid the same amount, but did't receive the same service. We had to find other child care, but still paid the school for this. This was a fraction of what we got before the pandemic, with no option to drop out without penalty. 5b) The teachers tried to use zoom, but the school didn't buy licenses. Kids had to drop off every ~40min. Don't know what they used the full tuition costs for. The school eventually got licenses after parents complained, but this should have been something they was proactive about. 5c) Our family sent multiple emails and voicemails to the school, many of which were ignored and never responded to. I would receive read receipts form stephanie and christi, but neither would write back. 5d) We asked repeatedly to have our daughter changed to half day (both via email and voice mail). The school ignored all our requests to do this. 5e) A group of about 30 parents drafted a joint letter about the issues, and to ensure teachers still got paid. Eva, the school owener, wrote back promising a reply, but many parents didn't recieve it. The school was notified several times, but still didn't communicate with everyone. 5f) The school instead elected to send confidential emails to some families offering discounts and other things. We never received one of these emails from the school.....guess we weren't one of the special lucky families that the school liked. 5g) The school had their legal team send threatening letters to some of the parents who spoke up. At a time when many of us were struggling and needed support, this felt awful. They were trying to charge us ridiculous amounts, only to use that money to have their lawyer fight the families that supported the school. 5h) One parent called several other preschools nearby, and all had compassionate policies. Some offered 20% discount, some offered 50% and amount paid could be applied once school reopened. A large percentage waived drop out advance notice requirements. Every school except AML was willing to work with parents and find middle ground. I am so heart broken by the way Christi and AML have behaved. The school is walking distance from our house, our daughter loves it, teachers are great, facility is nice, etc. But with each opportunity to treat the community decently, AML kept showing that they don't treat people in a kind way. We didn't want our daughter learning from people like this, and gave in and decided to pull her out and not return. So sad. We were the school's biggest fans. We would have gladly donated to support the school. Some bad moves by the administration have ruined all the good memories we had. I recommend everyone avoid this school and its administration. There are better choices out there. read more

While the teachers are amazing, the administrative staff is not respectful or or following current health regulations for COVID-19. I first noticed this the second day of school and brought this to their attention multiple times and the problems continued. I discussed this with other parents and other parents observed the same. Today, I was notified via email that my daughter is no longer welcome at the school due to our family's lack of support for the school. As the only parent who has verbalized our family's concern with their lack of obeying local rules for mask-wearing, it is obvious this is the reason. The administration's lack of integrity and lack of professionalism continues to damage the school's reputation and drive families away from the school. read more

Coming from a former employee in the toddler room, I would not recommend AML. There is zero structure and the kids get very bored. If you have a toddler and interested, I'd only recommend the two smaller classrooms verses the larger classroom. It's more Montessori based. The larger classroom has zero structure and too many children for two, sometimes three teachers. They don't hold true to the Colorado law of 8:1 ratio. Christy is the most mean spirited person I have ever met and 3 teachers have chosen for to leave because she is impossible to work with and not Montessori based at all. The idea of the school is wonderful but I only recommending your children are elementary or higher. read more

I have waited 4 months to write this review because in the beginning, I was so angry about the situation that I couldn't write it without becoming enraged. Even now, as I am typing, my hands are shaking. So, here it goes. Politics are alive and well at ALM. The day before the last day of school, we were happy parents with two boys, aged 2 and 4 at ALM. We had limited contact with the teachers but that was due to the pandemic. That afternoon, we received a phone call from an administrator, Miss Anna, and we were informed that due to some "behavioral concerns", our children wouldn't be aloud to stay all day at daycare over the summer. Specifically, they were being disruptive during quiet time. Let's step back a bit. Six weeks prior, during our parent teacher conferences, we were told the boys were doing great, no issues at quiet time and overall good behavior. And they drop this information on us, leaving us 4 days to find full time child care for the summer. My wife and I both own businesses so having consistent and reliable child care is very important for us. We asked why we weren't informed before and they said there was a breakdown in communication (not our fault). We asked what we could do to rectify the situation and they said there was nothing we could do for the summer. However, we could try on a trial basis in the fall which seemed like a great way to set our boys up for failure (ie. changing routines and expecting successful results quickly). We explained how this put us in a terrible spot having to scramble to find child care on extremely short notice. Ms Anna suggested we find an au pair or a nanny. How unhelpful and unrealistic! Let me say it again, we had 4 days to figure this out and it was Memorial day weekend. When I spoke to Ms Anna face to face, with tears rolling down my face, explaining how unfair their decision and timing was, she just smiled at me and said "the board has made their decision." So, you are telling me that my two boys were brought up at a board meeting on whether they should be allowed full day child care. As I said, politics are alive well. We asked the teachers about it as we picked our boys up on the last day. The toddler teacher said some days, our two year old needed 5-10 extra minutes of comforting before he took his afternoon nap. She didn't tell us at his conference because she didn't see it as an issue, that it was common for 2 year old. She had no idea that this was happening. The 4 year old's teachers were absolutely blindsided as well with the decision. They said that he was doing much better with quiet time as the year progressed. When he was done with his quiet time, they moved him to the kindergarten room so he wouldn't disrupt his classmates. Overall, we had enjoyed the teachers at ALM but the way that this situation was handled was as unprofessional and cold as I can imagine. Don't choose this school, I don't want anyone to have to go through what we went through. Shame on ALM and Miss Anna for how this all played out. read more

We sent our kids here. We stayed the necessary years purely for the teachers and the consistency for our girls. Do not be fooled though. The owners and school leadership are not friendly, not honest, and are not good communicating with parents. They mismanage parents money by over charging accounts in hopes parents will not notice. They are not transparent with their financials so parents are never quite sure where funds are going. Parents have tried to stop their monthly auto withdrawals only to have the school change the amount withdrawn so funds will go through. If you try to speak to them about a concern, they either ignore you or do not actually listen. They disabled their facebook and Instagram pages because they were receiving so many negative reviews. The automated software on other review sites isn't accurately capturing all the negative reviews either, for unknown reasons, but they are out there. There are plenty of other preschool options in the area. read more

Had we known about the negative experiences past families have had at AML, we would not have enrolled here. In our experience, AML's pattern of lack of transparency and communication and unwillingness to work through problems with families persists and repeats. During our 1 year there, we felt like we were hitting a brick wall the entire time and thought, it really shouldn't be this difficult. First, my 4 year old child told us someone had put their hands down her pants. We were met with denial, then defensiveness. Whether it did or not, we wanted to be heard and we wanted to give our child a voice. AML didn't have policy or protocol in place for safe body practices. We had to spell out how to address this issue. We didn't want to punish our child for speaking up by taking her away from her class, so we decided to stay. Second, their emergency communication system is broken. We didn't find out about a school lockdown due to a nearby shooting and police chase until over an hour later when I had just happened to open my email; my husband didn't even receive an email. Neither my husband nor I received a text or call about it in real time. Come to find out, a lot of parents (and teachers) had the same issue. I don't know how I would have felt if, God forbid, the school was locked down due to a school shooting and I didn't know until over an hour later. I wasn't going to wait to find out. The head of school (HOS) said it was because parents don't fill out the contact forms correctly or provide all information. We had to dig up copies of our enrollment application to prove we had provided all the needed info in the right places and this was not our fault. We even called the app company they use for their emergency communication system and had to email the instructions for the school to follow to solve the issue. To the very end, the HOS said our workaround solution would likely be temporary and didn't offer an alternative solution that would work. But the program director (PD) and the front desk were willing to work with us, so we again decided to stay. The final straw was the way AML handled the pandemic-related mandates. They initially stayed open while urging us not to send our kids and charging full tuition for families who stayed home with a withdrawal penalty of one month tuition, non-prorated. The PD, the only one who made us feel heard, advocated for us and changed us to 60% tuition (half days). The same day, AML closed and instead offered virtual learning for toddlers and primary students, continued to charge full tuition and 1 month withdrawal penalty. Tell me exactly how a diaper is changed virtually. The PD would no longer discuss the issue with us, deferring to the head of school. We found out the 60% tuition reduction was not offered to all families; most were still required to pay full tuition. Many families shared experiences similar to ours of AML's lack of transparency and communication and unwillingness to work with parents to find a solution together. We parents wrote a letter together spelling out our grievances and suggested solutions as a last ditch effort. AML shut down their Facebook page, Instagram. The Parent Handbook was no longer available online which read that under certain circumstances withdrawal can be immediate without a month notice. Some parents had received responses, others had not. A week later, we finally received ours, stating AML would waive the 1 month tuition penalty for withdrawals through 4/30. We thanked them for their response and to please let all families know. AML replied the withdrawal penalty waiver is only for those submitting their notice in April; those who withdrew in March still had to pay for the entire month of April. The reason for withdrawal is the same in March or April! We know we have a strong case to win if we choose not to pay. But our time and energy are worth more. We're cutting our losses and moving on, but not without extreme disappointment. read more

Adventure Montessori is a great school. I have seen a lot of comments on here about Covid. The staff and administrators has done the best that they can mind you. No one at the start of this knew what to expect and how to pay their teams. I love this school and I know they have been doing their best to help out where they can. Each of the teachers are amazing and are engaged with their students. It is a little harder to run a Montessori school through Zoom but as all of us they have done the best they can. I love this school and Administration. They are a kind and caring school.always willing to help where they can. I highly recommend this school. They are an amazing private school. I love that they teach children to be independent and to have responsibility. Plus they have Goats and chickens. If you want a boring school the. This school is not for you. But if you want an exceptional school where they will teach your child to think out side of the box and problem solve and be creative. Then this is school for you. If you want your kids to have the ability to have amazing tools to succeed in life then this is where you want to be. read more

My daughter has thrived at AML and we have been consistently impressed with quality and value. After three years of attendance, my daughter is performing above grade level and is joyful when going to school. During the pandemic, AML continued to provide a safe and consistent learning environment. During this past year, she only missed two days of school...to go on vacation. I am a public school teacher and after our experience, I am a total believer in the value of the Montessori approach to early education. Adventure is the best value in Boulder County and I will be forever grateful to all of the wonderful teachers and administrators. read more

Very happy with our experience here thus far, our daughter is loving it and has already shown improvements in her written and oral communication skills, as well as her social skills. The curriculum seems to be very stimulating for the children and based on our experience, the teachers and administration are genuine in their desire to educate and build relationships with the students.
