Booked a last minute camping trip for Labor Day after our original plans fell through. We loved everything about this place. Lots of activities for kids, both scheduled and unscheduled. Safe. Clean bathrooms. Nearby to a grocery store. Everything you could want in a campground. Our only issue was, as tent campers, we specifically picked a site when we booked. When we showed up, we were told that we hadn't paid an extra charge to hold that space, so we were assigned a spot in the field. It was fine, other than being incredibly hot during the day, but the situation started us with a bad taste in our mouth. Will still look to come back in the future. read more

With unknown future we were wondering if the RV life would be for us. So a staycations is the thing these days. We also needed a dog friendly environment. Only problem we were concerned about was the foul weather predicted. After a few days in an RV, I'm thinking it can work in a pinch. Maybe not a purchase, but a rental will do. RV's are nice in that you have everything you need right there. It's a small version of "home." Mini kitchen, bath, beds. Meals might be difficult for me since I have soooo many spices and conveniences to use at home and none in the RV. It is a more civilized way to camp. No rocks to sleep on, much drier in bad weather. The camp ground was a very nice place. I've camped before in a tent and used facilities that the park offered. We walked about with the dog, talked to people here and there. Only complaint I have is minor - gate card key was finally fixed to work properly on last day of stay. There's a general store for those items you may have forgotten. But I found eating out wasn't a bad option. Two towns nearby had ample choices. Might consider another park by Adventure Bound since they have multiple campgrounds in multiple states. read more

Has the potential to be a great campground. This will never happen as it is being run now. Went for a week about a month ago. They were not at all ready for the season with an array of problems that I see stem back several years from past reviews. Seasonal sites not being held to any standard. About half the park needs the roads and drainage redone. Potholes and sections of the road completely covered with water even after a week without rain. Little to no stone left in roadway so even a golf cart creates a dust storm on your site. Event buildings dirty siding and windows,garbage bags torn open outside for most of the week. Meanwhile a large expansion is almost ready and I wonder how that will work when what they have now can't be taken care of. Poor internet/wifi read more

(All about my being converted to (including my already loving RV life) RV Parks and Adventure Bound - Deer Run RV Resort, Schaghticoke, NY - "still having the best time after my first overnight here, and now we may have helped influence a brother and sister-in-law who are re-thinking their ideas of selling camper... visiting HERE and contemplating this exact location"‼) My best friend and former boyfriend of 14 years, just "permanently" parked his RV up at the "new" Adventure Bound" Deer Run in Upstate New York and after driving over several times from where I live in Wynantskill, it seems beautiful, peaceful, close to some small-town areas close by, offering several choices for grocery shopping (including a Price Chopper that's open 24 hours, with a Dollar General, an Urgent Medical Clinic (which you'll probably be getting a review from me...next (‼), since I'm not feeling 100%) and everyone seems generally nice! I will also note that if anything has changed about my opinion of this place... it would be in the positive and comfortable settling of that very opinion. I think that I will say that this Memorial Day Holiday weekend, here, has turned into a perfect time and place for me to reflect on a few things, and how everything came together perfectly this holiday in a way that has eluded me since moving back to Upstate NYS which is when my youngest daughter and I drove away from the comfort of Keesler AFB, and out of the way of a hurricane named Katrina. It's been hard not having other military around us wherever we moved to any other place, understanding what every other military family was going through and also away from cultures that have always seemed much more polite and kind than I've re-discovered most people to be here in New York, now since being back here in this state. Honestly... this may be an entirely different thing, but it feels familiar to me... kind of like going back to that sort of thing! I'm happy to report that this pleasant spot doesn't seem anything at all like the place the Yelp reviews were complaining about! I'm going to leave tomorrow for Memorial Day Weekend, so this weekend will be the first time there will actually be more than a handful of families and couples staying in the resort, and I'm looking forward to seeing how everything picks up! So far, even the quiet calm, has been awesome! We have neighbors on both sides of what is now his spot, (since I'm fairly certain the RV is staying right where it is)! Although we weren't around when the 2nd family pulled in (towards the pool side of our spot), I did strike up a conversation with the very nice woman on the other side,(closer to the field side), and love her sense of humor!! I traveled a lot growing up, maybe even more than I have in the last couple of years, but always stayed in various family homes or later, military temporary lodging which was basically a well stocked home, also... so I never had the experience of staying in RV parks, so this is an honest and first time review from a newbie! This was our second year staying for a glamping weekend with my college friends and their families. Check in is at 3pm, but you can request an earlier check in if you call. You can book a cabin online easily, and we all got cabins in the same row. The deluxe cabins are spacious with a main bedroom, bathroom with shower, kitchen, smaller bedroom with bunk beds, a couch and TV, and seating area. The cabins are very clean, there is a deck with picnic table. There is also a fire ring off of the deck. There is a little shop where you can purchase things like firewood, glow sticks, sunscreen, snacks, and they even have a little ice cream shop. You can ride a golf cart, pedal cart, or go "gemstone mining" for an additional fee. There are two twin pools, an adult pool, kids pool, and water park with water slides. There is a game room, banquet hall, food truck, basketball court, and playground on the premises. Unfortunately, the weekend we attended was a little chilly to enjoy the water. There was an event happening - Pirates and Princess weekend so we did fully embrace the theme. There were fun events like a train ride, foam party, and Pirate and Princess Ball to enjoy. Would I stay here again? Probably. The kids had fun on the splash pad and our hook ups were significant. Cons: bathrooms closest to us were continuously disgusting. Our key card didn't work multiple times and we had to go inside to get it fixed. We were never informed of activities and there is nothing noted on their website. The arcade only has a couple of games and the rest are claw machines. We had a site near the playground and it was a mistake -curfew is at 11pm and there were teenagers at the playground every night screaming which made it hard for our small kids who have FOMO. Pros: the splash pad and playground are awesome. We never had a problem with cable or hook ups. You have to watch a video to use the Internet, but it works good. The employees were all friendly and the camp store is well-stocked. Overall it was a good experience, just a few small things that needed to be fixed. read more

It's was quite for the most part. A few tiny dogs yapping all day long. If your looking for a place to have fun with kids this place will give you that. They didn't inform us any activities that were happening but by the noise off in the distance there was something going on. Also if you have trouble walking around get yourself a golf cart to rent. Kinda got a feeling of we didn't belong because we didn't rent on of their carts and couldn't go looking around. All in all it wasn't a "bad" campground. read more

we have been camping here for over 10 years, every year it progressively gets worse. The cost of the cabin is absolutely absurd, and it comes with nothing, so you have to pack all your linens.Arriving earlier than check in time I was charged an extra $25 for early check in; cabin was ready but was not given the keys until 2:45p....so why charge $25 without allowing access to my cabin. The park itself is ok, nothing special, thankfully we were there with family, which made the trip! when it rains everything floods, the public restrooms were disgusting as the days went on, no attention paid to cleaning. While the water park was a nice addition, it seems to be very dirty, needs some power washing, no attention is paid to keeping it clean.Two members of my party fell coming down the cabin stairs during the rain, because the stairs were very slippery; when it was brought to the attention of the staff, suggesting possibly looking into traction strips, they seemed disinterested. Seem to have a lack of interested staff. We were only provided with one gate key, but 2 cars; when asked for an additional key we were told there were no more, but when we buzzed in was given an attitude. Will definitely not be returning in the future and will look into going back to Lake George escape campground! read more

This is difficult because the park has so much potential. THE BAD 1. The current managers have given up the past three years or so. I spoke with them and they told me that because of a number of reasons (conflicts with ABC parent Co., their age(retirees), lack of good employees) they have just about given up. 2. The restaurant/snack shop is managed by a local restaurant. Workers there have nothing but negative comments about Deer Run Management. Also ice cream machine was broken and dispensing watery ice cream all last season. Employees claim they had been requesting a fix since May and nothing happened in the past four months. Also lower the prices slightly and sales will increase. Price points are slightly high. If you keep the pricing, fix the ice cream machine. 3: The inflatables are heavily advertised. In reality, the hours are few and they find every excuse to close them. One of the employees told me that the Manager doesn't like to put in the work needed to clean and maintain them every time they go up. I relayed this to the manager, and she blamed the "kids" working there, saying that they were the lazy ones.. 4. The office and desk needs customer service training. Starting with the manager. Service is just ok and we do feel welcome that is until anything is questioned or there is any kind of problem, large or small. After that, very rude and condescending. Unfortunately the other workers there seem to take after the boss. 5. Bathrooms could use minor updating. And need taller vent stacks so that the smell will rise into the air instead of lingering. 6. There were many seasonal sites that were trashed. Sometimes literally. One camper had extensive damage to rv and was littered with empty beer cans/bottles. Stayed this way at for at least two months this past summer. Others weren't quite as bad but it was clear that the rules are not enforced or not there at all. 7. Negative staff attitude. It's amazing the effect of even one negative staff member on your entire trip. We routinely encountered several. 8. Terribly slow and most times nonexistent wifi. THE GOOD 1. Beautiful location that is very central to city. 2. Whith the exception of unsightly seasonal sites, park and sites are well maintained. 3. Food and snacks at restaurant were good. 4. Park is very kid friendly. 5. Pools are very clean. 6. Bathrooms, while in need of updating, were clean. 7. When they were open inflatables were great for the kids. 8. Night entertainment was fun. This place has so much potential! It kills me to write a negative review because I want so much to have the "brochure" experience here. We have been several times and I have actually talked with management and employees so I know that this is not an isolated event. The park is indeed going downhill. PLEASE, someone save this sinking ship!!!, Take some lessons from Lake George RV, or Lake George Escape and this place could be magic! The cabin we stayed in was very cute. It was clean, and well maintained. Everything else was terrible. The "heated" pools were freezing, my 3 year old daughter was shivering in the water, and it was 89 degrees out. The liners were pulling up, making it feel puffy and unsafe to walk on. I couldn't let her go play on the splash pad/water park. It was disgustingly dirty. The slides were stained with algae and the water at the bottom was grey. The buckets that 'splash' the water were so powerful, she would fall down from the force of it. It was also open from 10a-8p. So the kids all know it's there when they wake up, but you need to some how keep them quiet and distracted until any of the pools are open. The store didn't sell anything, just toys. We decided to do gem mining. The water was completly gunked up with sand and tiny gems from other bags... and least 2 inches think. You can't rent a golf cart for only one day. read more

We love to camp at Deer Run every year. There is so much to do: pools, waterslides, game room, movie night, basketball and so much more!!!!!! daily activities for the kids to be able to go off on their own while mom and dad's relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Just got back from the weekend. We loved it. We rented 2 deluxe cabins - they were adorable and clean. Great deck. The sites are pretty close to one another, but set up so you're not staring at the other campsites while you're outside on the deck or having a fire. Next time I would opt to not buy groceries as there is a Price Chopper within about 5 minutes. I'd rather save the hassle of packing all the food and just go buy what you need once you are there. There is a store on site that I thought was reasonable if you forget something, but not a ton of stuff in it. If you have little toddler age kids, bring some plugs for the outlets. There are a ton of them in the cabin right at the height for little fingers. Pools and water slide area are nice and my granddaughter had a blast. If you have kids, bring their bikes, fun to ride around the park. I wish I had brought mine too. We didn't pay the extra $20 to guarantee the cabins I chose and we did not get them. Luckily we had two cabins close to each other (there was one cabin between us). I may opt to do that next time to be sure we are side by side. Staff were friendly. read more

I am writing this while I am still here. I have already paid and am stuck here until Saturday. I will start with the three good things. The cabin was clean and the bathrooms are clean, also they have 4 pools. Now the bad, for the price paid there should be more than what they have. There are a lot of residents so you know they have the income. The bathroom coolest to the cabins has had no power for three days and I do not know how long it has been out before we got here. Every employee I have come in contact with had been miserable and rude. The main office opens up at eight my son and I walked there and arrived at 8:03. My son reached the door first and went to walk in, seeing as there were people in the lobby, well a grown man turned around and put his hand on my sons chest and pushed him back and said to get out because they weren't open yet. They were lucky I was to much in shock to rip into them. All actives are only open and available to kids for short periods of times. You can't get the 4 wheel bikes, basketballs or anything until 11 and that ends at 3 and the pools do not open until 10. So when you have a kid who wants up at 7/8 am what are you suppose to do with them? The teen lounge is closed and the inflatable water slides did not open yesterday and only two of four opened today. The four wheeled bikes there was one red one that my son wanted to ride and the kid didn't want to go through the hassle of undoing a few extra bikes he made him take the first one. Wifi after 24 hours has to be paid for. All I will also second the person who wrote back in 2014 all the the employees all the way down to the kid (who I'm not sure is actually legally allowed to work) were rude and Condescending Snack bar is no more as well, game room has few working games and all buildings are extremely run down. The staff there were extremely rude to us with one "gentleman" following us around in his golf cart and continually harassing us about what we or our kids were doing wrong. We have a special needs child and he is unable to ride a bike or walk far, but he has a little electric John Deere he rides in (max speed 5 mph). We were yelled at like little children for having it so we went to the office to complain about how we were treated and to explain his situation. The Response: "Too bad, that's the rule, no exceptions." Further, the sewer line I connected to overflowed the first time I tried to empty my grey tanks. Nasty and poorly maintained! Never again! While my husband my grandson and myself did not stay overnight, we had a day visit with my neice and her family. My grandson had a blast. The fun zone was open with the waterslides. Later he and the other kids went into the pool and also had a great time there. My husband and I went for a walk around the park and while the spaces are close, the park was neat and clean including the pool. Deer Run is family oriented. My neice was saying that each day they have crafts planned for the kids. We inquired about one of the trailer rentals, and someone from the staff was happy to show us one of the trailors they have for rent. It is definetly a consideration for us for next year. read more

We called campground to inquire about a site with elec/water hookup...We were told that they had ONE available. The normal rate is $42/night but they told us it was $47/night because it was the 4th of July weekend. We reserved our site for two nights in the amount of $94. We got to the site which was in the middle of a field with absolutely no shade whatsoever. We figured we would be ok because we have a small travel trailer with top vent with a fan. We set up our camp and relaxed. The next day was an entirely different story... We went canoeing and it got too hot so, we went back to our camp. The camper was unbearably hot because of the lack of shade! Fan was NOT helping any at all. We decided to go to the swimming pool to cool off. We got into the water and it was nasty! There were bugs, human hair, and who knows what else floating around! We looked over and saw a pool skimmer that looked like it had never seen ANY use. We wanted to use the public shower and restroom but that was out of the question because they were also as nasty as the pool! We got out of the pool and went and got some ice cream to cool off. While walking to the restaurant, we noticed at least 14(fourteen) shaded lots that were all empty, and they stayed empty all weekend! It eventually cooled down later in the day and we went to sleep from heat exhaustion. We woke up the next morning very early wanting nothing more than to pack and get out! We went to get some coffee at Dunkin Donuts because, we were in a hurry. We got back and remembered that you can leave the campground whenever you like but, someone has to let you back in as the entrance is gated. The office is CLOSED from 10PM until 8AM with nobody to let you back in! So, we had to park our vehicle at the front of the park and walk back to our site! We had to wait until 8AM to get our vehicle so we could leave this wretched place! In an age where you have 24/7 access to something as simple as a storage facility why do we have to have someone let us in the front gate of a campground?! That person could be busy cleaning the bathrooms, swimming pool, etc. Overall a nasty campground! We will never return to this place ever again! $94 for a pig stye! IF THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE AVAILABLE SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE AND CANCEL YOUR CAMPING PLANS! P.S. This campground gets a one star rating because zero was not available... read more

If I could give this place a 0 I would as well. We have been Seasonal campers here for 3/4 years and up until this year, it was good. Good sized sites, 4 pools, a restaurant, arcade. It had the amenities every camping family looks for. Great kid friendly involved staff. New management this year has brought many friends with families to work/live here. These families stick together and are collectively rude to all campers. And they work here including there underage children. They also build w/o permits until all hours of the night, their underage kids drive golf carts all day, they play horse shoes and drink loudly until 1am even though quiet hours are 11pm-8am, but bc they are all friends, nothing was done or said. An older man kept picking my 16 yr old child out several times this year to scream at him and got in his chest/face for many reasons, one for not being at our site after 10pm when park rules say 11pm, even when there are several other kids out as well. I'm glad someone else had a similar experience with this man, so we are not alone. The 3rd time my husband witnessed and confronted him verbally, the next day we were the ones asked not to return next year. We believe this man to be a danger to our child and would not return next year or ever again anyway. So campers beware, corporate and management did NOT care about our child's well being and said it didn't happen. If you stay here please keep that in mind. They got rid of the restaurant which was open until 10pm all season in lieu of selling a fraction of the menu in the camp store that closes at 5pm during the week and 8pm on weekends. They choose to sell way overpriced pizza when there are several great pizza places in town that deliver to the campground. They also have a variety of ice cream but do not refill the case until all flavors need replacing. On several occasions I have left with nothing bc they only had 1-2 flavors in the case on a Saturday night. They don't do activities during the week ever, so don't count on that if you plan to stay mid week. They may or may not open the fun zone mid week either. The bathrooms are not always unlocked mid week bc they don't have the staff to clean them. My son had to run back to our site from the pool on a Wednesday in July bc the bathroom by the pool was locked. Bingo is at 7pm on Friday nights with limited seating bc they took many tables to the front of the office for the make shift restaurant. So get there early or you will only have a bench to sit on and no where to put your cards. Ceramics were intermittent with no real Schedule and if you are planning to go for one of the 3 Halloween weekends, check the schedule, they have cancelled 2 of them. It's just not the clean family friendly campground I knew anymore. Unfortunately corporate doesn't care to see that or speak to seasonal campers who are actually seasonal campers and not the managers friends:( Very disappointed. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!! I have never in my life felt like I needed to write a review until now. This is a retirement home for people that have nothing better to do but not let kids have fun!!!! This is a place for kids right??? Retired people have set up all year camp and will let the managers know if you FART where it's not posted to do so!!!! Or if you happen to hop in the "adult pool" with your 1 year old because the kiddy pool is below freezing and the adult pool is heated!!! IMAGINE THAT!! I was kicked out of the adult pool with my child even though we were the only ones in there ... No one else in site (except year round retired people watching your every move from their trailers)! We have enough respect for others not to do that if it had been occupied. We drove cross country to come here with our kids and visit our family, only doing our research on their website ... Which IS NOT UP TO DATE!! No where did it say your kids need to be 18 or with an adult to swim (or we would not have even considered this place) the staff yelled at my 2 oldest 11 and 13 to get out of the pool and they were going to get the manager and be back, along with "your parents must be stupid" !!!! BLOWN AWAY! That staff would talk that way I waited for the manager to come see me, he said he asked the 2 ladies to close the pool for him..... EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF Prices on the pedal carts are not correct ... The ice cream shacks/coffee were rarely open. DIRTY NO WAGON RIDES NOT KID FRIENDLY THIS WAS HELL AND WE WERE STUCK FOR 3 WEEKS BECAUSE NO WAY WILL THEY REFUND YOUR MONEY!!!!! read more

Nice campground, bathrooms are clean, showers are free but a little on the cold side. Dogs are allowed, as long as they are leashed, and they don't segregate breeds. The campsite we were on didn't have a fire pit, just a truck wheel rim anyway. It was in the open field area, but nice because it was cold for August. Unfortunately, we were crammed in even though there were numerous open sites. Sites are tight but very accessible. The entrance is gated and closed from 10 pm to 8 am, but for a $10 refundable deposit they will give you a pass card, highly advise to do this. Fun small waterslides and pools for the kids, just be careful, no lifeguards. There is a nearby town, 2 mi. away with plenty of stores if you forgot to pack anything. I would recommend this campground for those who have active families. read more

The campground has so much potential. It is centrally located, offers families an opportunity to "get away" without much travel at a reasonable rate, pools, biking, etc. However, it is not a kid friendly place. The staff are not identified by attire, so when they bark at your children for minor and predictable offenses, like riding a bike to fast, or jumping into the pool from the wrong side of a slide, they are treated like criminals. The management appears power hungry and militant. When families look forward to a vacation, it is disappointing to be met by unfriendly and punitive staff. Children carry memories of vacations long into their future. They should be happy, fun and positively memorable...Not, "remember that mean guy." We all work hard and want the best for our children. When families save money to get away, they should be greeted with pleasantries. Most importantly, the staff management and staff should stop looking for problems like they are buried treasures...and know that kids will be kids. They run,; They laugh; They have fun. I found our recent experience disheartening.. If children are not welcome, then Adventure Bound Resorts/ Deer run should state, "Senior Citizens Only." 1. Anyone working for the grounds should have attire clearly stating, STAFF. So they are identifiable to children. 2. Staff should be provided training with regard to interacting with children and families. 3. If there is going to promote big slides, they should be open and accessible at least five hours a day...Not three, with one being lunch time 4. How about planned activities for kids...lead by friendly staff. Not the proclaimed activities that never happen in the ghost playroom. 5. Just BE KIND. read more

We camp here occasionally in a fifth wheel, the problems with this park have nothing to do with the managers and staff!!! It has to do with the higher ups (owners). The Managers and staff do EVERYTHING in there power to keep a clean well maintained park within there means, meaning the funds are FROM the higher ups, Equipment needed to maintain a park of this size is not provided.... The ROAD coming in to the campground NEEDS to have a CONTRACTER REDO.. The interior roads need to come up to today's standards and also be paved! The BIGGEST problem we see is the ELECTRIC at each site is in NEED of UPDATE to have 50 amp to keep up with the Rigs of TODAY. The POOLS are kept to the BEST of the ability of the maintenance people, It's the EQUIPMENT that is not keeping the pools cleaned, they are and were not made (over 20 yrs old skimmer system and pool pumps, residential grade) for the amount of use that these pools get and the conditions are not to be blamed on the people who WORK there. Need higher performing equipment and up to date!!! The bathroom interior walls have been replaced along with countertops and sinks... So people need to put blame where it is deserved!!! read more

I reserved a cabin rental for one night cabin #97 .I was fully aware that check in time was 3pm 8/11/2016. When I arrived to check in the staff said that the cabin needs to be cleaned and we could use the facility why we waiting for the cabin . We went to the cabin to see if the people that rented the cabin were still their at 11:30 am .They were not their they checked out. I seen house keeping in the the cabin next to the one we rented. I want over and asked the person if it would be ok if we could put our camping supplies on the deck of the cabin we rented #97she said that would be ok. So we did just that and after unloading the supplies.We decided to all go to the pool it was my wife and 4 grandchildren and me .We at the pool for about Two and one half Hours. We decided to go back to the cabin it was around 1:30 Pm to have lunch on the deck of the cabin # 97 . My wife and I started to fix lunch for our Grandchildren.A lady came across the road an said I am the owner/manager And to stop bothering the Housekeeper To get into cabin #96 You bothered her 5 times .you are slowing her down . Did you read the agreement you singed you are not getting into the cabin until 3pm Not a minute sooner I said excuse me we are in cabin #97 not #96 I had to show her my receipt that showed that I was in cabin #97 And this happened in front of my young grandchildren and other guests. Instead of taking me aside to talk about this . I said if this is how you treat your guests I would like to leave and get a refund because of your actions and the pool was very dirty it has bands floating and green algae puddles on the walk ways that were very slippery and I leaned on the back part of the fence at the pool and all most fell over it I could of got hurt?You only have two water slides up and of course the big one was down? I was very surprised that your pool staff was not walking around the pool cleaning the cement walk ways puddles? Over all the park was dirty.She the owner/manger said you are welcome to leave but you are not getting a refund .Not a penny. And she said if I did not agree with that she would go get her husband and we could talk about this. I said that would be fine . So much for guests services? They did offer me my money back . I would of loved to have left .But we go their every year . And my grandchildren have friends that camp their for the season..But I do not think we will return anytime soon . read more
