I've had to visit this ER twice in less than six months. First time I had a suspicion of an undiagnosed condition that I've been trying to get figured out with my primary care physician for over a year (they figured it out!) they were fast with checking me in, They took the time to listen to me, they did exactly what I asked to get a diagnosis and they sent me home with a surgeons referral. If you know the anxiety that comes with chronic illness the you know finally having answers is a win and weight off the shoulders. Second visit again was just as great as the first. I was treated for my pain. I had different nurses and doctors this time . They were all wonderful, treated me with kindness and care. I've never felt like I was being mistreated or dismissed here. read more

If you're looking to save your health or help a loved one DO NOT GO HERE! My relative was sent out of there today after a quick what was called an evaluation and left the hospital passed out and was diagnosed with pneumonia and upper respiratory distress at another hospital. They sent her home to die basically. Telling her if it doesn't get better to come back tomorrow to pay them more money for the job they didnt do the first time. What if there was no tomorrow because she drowned in the fluid that was built up in her lungs and died. My relative was NEGLECTED in the Emergency room and refused the X-Ray she requested. Was thay even a doctor? Stay clear of Howard Memorial, the hospital that doesn't care and is NOT thorough. Santa Rosa is the only place you can get proper treatment and care. Not with Adventist health. Save yourself the grief. read more

Check in was great, got x-ray quickly, then sat in a hallway forever while my wife's pain went from a 4 to an 8 and they would not do anything for her. We are still waiting here in the hall, I hope we don't need to come here ever again, thanks for nothing!!!!!! Went here for radiology services. the staff was great and the facility is beautiful. unfortunately the radiologist is VERY lazy. he basically just said "no changes" even though other issues were also found and examined. I work in healthcare and the tech and i discussed what we were seeing as we went along so I know it was not the same. of course they want to bill me for the crappy service. read more

I"ve been to Howard Memorial Hospital twice, once for an MRI with anesthetic, and the other time for a colonoscophy. And both times I had pretty much 100% excellent experience , I NEVER been treated so well, anywhere. They did not miss a beat. I was attended to by a staff of nurses and techs, that were warm, happy, cheerful professional's. I live one hour north of Willats, and I also live one hour south of Eureka, so I could go to whichever hospital I wanted, but no one treats people with more respect and attention than Howard Memorial. I trust them, and there is no reason I would ever go anywhere else. I can't say enough, they just make everything easy. In fact, I am not kidding when I say, they absolutely pampered me. I'm a regular somewhat older woman, and they treated me like I was the most important person there, Like I was some kind of celebrity. read more

I've had better customer service from fast food teenager employees. "tau" the pharmacist for the outpatient pharmacy is the rudest laziest person I've ever seen. total disregard for patient safety or our lives. if I didn't know any better I would swear she's high and strung out: patients shouldn't suffer because of your lack of planning for a HORRIBLE switching of pharmacy systems. I've spent hours waiting on medications I need to live. going on two weeks withdrawals of life saving medication and her response was "well if it's an issue your free to go pay for an ER visit" as she yelled and threw bottles around the pharmacy on a drug induced rage. read more

one doctor for a whole city and waited 2 hours and 30 mins to have my daughter (6 years old ) seen for something blocking her nose and stuck in the nose from breathing. They need to have more doctors on hand many people waiting in the waiting room for a long time . longer then normal . read more

Always a pleasure going to this hospital, whether it is for a regular doctor appointment or emergency. Never a wait longer than 10 minutes in Emergency and they do care. Clean, spacious, the cafe has fabulous food and serve free coffee! I have never waited long in any department of this hospital. This is the best hospital I've ever been in. My husband was having surgery and the staff were excellent. They made sure that I was comfortable and taken care of as well. When we were in preop massages were offered to us. And it was free. The food by far is the best. Kudos to the chef. I have been in a lot of hospitals and worked at Sutter Sutter roseville. This is a gem of a hospital. I broke my hip and was brought here for repair. I ended up with a replacement because of arthritis. Surgery was flawless. My week stay was the best, most caring and healing experience I could have hoped for. The staff went above and beyond. The food was amazing. My doctor is still looking after me. I will be back for knee work. Looking forward to my next stay in my journey to better health and wellness. Thank you good people of Howard Memorial! read more

I'm leaving a new review. This one will be night and day compared to my review a few weeks ago. Unfortunately my mother ended up back in this facility right before Christmas. As anyone who read my first post, might imagine the horrors going through my mind. I must say that this time around was completely different. The staff was amazing, everyone watched my mother around the clock, and kept her comfortable with her medications, and her room was nice. According to my sister, the doctors were easier to communicate with, and there were just a lot less issues. They seem to have gone above and beyond with my mothers care this time around, and that was greatly appreciated! It's tough when your options are slim to none when it comes to healthcare, and you shouldn't have to lower your expectations when being in such a remote area. Had an awful experience in the ER when I came in for a mental health crisis. Condescending and judgmental attitudes from most I interacted with made everything worse. I left feeling 10x more distraught than when I came in. My heartbeat kept racing & dinging the machines for the 3 hours I was there while they refused to bring me any anxiety medication I asked for. Dr Marx treated me with such a lack of compassion that I felt inhuman. Go somewhere else if you can, they'll just treat you like trash if you come in asking for help. Disgraceful. read more

As a girl who grew up in Willits and had family that worked at the original Howard Hospital, it pains me to provide such a low rating for the new hospital. Howard Hospital once was amazing, unfortunately times have changed. I had to visit the new facility unexpectedly and hope to not have to go back. I was seen in the hallway of the ER with zero privacy, have had financial issues from their very cumbersome billing process and unfortunately have felt tossed to the side by the patient advocate staff. I have been in contact with a few different people in regards to my issues, frustrations, complaints and have received zero compassion, empathy, sympathy or even just a good old simple "I'm sorry for your experience." Howard Hospital may be new and improved architecturally but it sure has taken a turn for the worse with customer service/patient advocacy, horrible outsourced billing and has most definitely lost the small-town family feel it once had. I have been there numerous time for everything from a blood test, ct and a number of other scans mri's and other services that were taken care of in a professional and courteous manner, with no waste of time attending to my needs. PATIENT BEWARE! husband in the hospital and because of delays in billing and not ensuring adequate insurance info we are now on the hook for $1200! Of course it COULD have been also billed through his secondary but since they took OVER A YEAR to get it together with insurance, we are now stuck with the remaining balance since they can't bill for something that is over a year old. So instead of getting the statement in a TIMELY manner so we could actually do something about it, we are stuck with the balance! NEVER AGAIN! Can't say enough great things about the ER department at this hospital! Our family was camping in Leggett and my daughter had a severe allergic reaction to a spider bite. The staff at the ER, especially nurse Holly and Dr. Medvin could not have been nicer, and the front desk helped us send financial info to our insurance, Kaiser. They saw her right away and got her set up with antibiotics and a steroid treatment. Of course you never want to have to go to the hospital when on vacation but they couldn't have made it easier. I had put off having a total knee replacement for years. I was worried about so many things. If I had known earlier what having a knee replacement would be like at Adventist Health Howard Memorial, I would have done it YEARS ago. I had the best care from every single staff member. Every lab tech, every nurse, every employee that wore a hospital badge - they were kind, empathetic, helpful, attentive, and there was barely any time lapse at all after I would push my room button. Someone would be right there to help me. Terri in PT, and Lorelei and so many others had hearts as big as the hospital itself. If anyone reading this is afraid to be an in-patient at this wonderful hospital, stop worrying! I would choose this wonderful place again in a heartbeat anytime I require in or outpatient care. read more

The worst experience I have ever had! With the exception of Dr. Sam, the staff is horrendous. The short dark hair nurse on duty Friday morning 2/19/21 is THE WORST! She ridiculed me for seeking functional medicine (kinesiology and muscle testing). All I was asking was for them to run some tests to help me know what is going on. Instead while I was crying she then proceeded to call me crazy and tell me that I am not speaking the same language. Then Dr. Shepherd came in prescribed me a "highly toxic" cream that he said may or may not work. 1hr 30 min later I left crying belittled still with my illness and prescribed a chemical that is unsafe to use while breastfeeding (and I told him 2x that I just had a baby and was breastfeeding). I would NEVER trust these 2 practitioners! It's disgusting they call themselves healthcare providers. read more

I was on a trip to Willits and began to experience some periodic pain in my chest. I thought it would be best to get it checked out so I went into the ER. After checking in, I was seen immediately. I was examined, which included a blood draw and an EKG. I was not experiencing a heart attack and provided with a small portable heart monitor that was placed on my chest and told to wear it for 2 weeks before sending it in. The staff was very responsive and made sure I understood what they were doing. They answered all my questions in a manner that was clear and supportive. The facility was exceptional - clean, well lit, and very nicely maintained. I was vey impressed with the entire experience. Would I go back again if I was in Willits and had a medical concern? 6This is probably the worst hospital I've been to, I came here for a simple check-up because I get poison oak pretty bad and needed medication. So after we do the tests such as blood pressure and what not we get to a room completely empty with just a chair, stool, and a bed and we sate there for almost an hour.... by the way did I forget to mention that a simple person like me could be in and out but yet they chose to be worried about 1 single person. read more

Some of the employees are top notch...compassionate, caring, and helpful. The Outpatient, Lab, and Radiology departments are excellent and I wholeheartedly recommend them. They do conscientious work and have excellent skills in personal interactions. Work is done promptly and with attention to detail. Each of these departments offers a haven of comfort in the midst of life's curve balls when one is sick. On the other hand, be careful and wise if you must utilize Howard's Emergency department. Some of the staff are excellent, such as Dr. Charlie Hott, Dr. Debbie Marks (although she may no longer work at Howard) and Amy, Nurse Manager in the ER. Some of the other doctors, however, are patronizing, sometimes treat patients as if they were making up symptoms for the purpose of being dramatic, and give sub-quality care. Staff sometimes leave patients for well over an hour or two when the department is quiet, fully staffed, and nothing is going on. Nurses sit at the station snacking, laughing, and chatting while patient alarms are going off indicating dropping oxygen levels, dropping blood pressure, pulse skyrocketing, et cetera. If they are asked about their thoughts on the instability in vital signs, they sometimes lie to cover their backsides, claiming no alarms went off, which doesn't do the patient any good. We have observed poor care for several family members and acquaintances since the new hospital opened. Be wise, be cautious, sign yourself out AMA (Against Medical Advice) and go to Ukiah if you can't get the care you need...and be very grateful when you are blessed with good staff during an ER visit, because it isn't always the case. read more

One of the best hospitals I've ever been to in my life. The staff is absolutely wonderful, caring and supportive I have never had such a positive experience. I broke my ankle and got rushed here right away they took me in fixed me up I went into surgery with Dr Bowen and he did such an amazing job I'm not in to much pain and he's already checked on me twice and the hospital is very clean the nurses have helped me with everything since my family isn't around. On July 11 I suffered a minor stroke, My family took me to the emergency room. I was seen right away, lots of tests were given, I had many staff come and check on me. I was admitted overnight. All of my needs were taken care of. the staff were professional and helpful. Because the hospital med/surge unit was full I was taken to Intensive care until a room opened up. I do not have any complaints regarding the Doctors or staff. All were fantastic, kind, and professional. they made sure I was mending well before they let me go. I am so thankful to have such a good hospital in our small town. I continue to use the hospital pharmacy for my medications, and they do a good job making sure everything is correct. read more

Brought an elderly (72) neighbor up there TWICE in one week,he died 2 days later. He was refused, and I mean REFUSED, admission. The autopsy revealed he was completely septic. He didn't have to die, but the ER apparently decided to ignore the results of his blood test...if in fact the tests were actually performed, or the results heeded. The second time, his toes were actually turning black. No one would listen to me; I was just a neighbor, after all. The third attempt to get him to a hospital resulted in his death, in the car. So that's that. New hospital? Can't put lipstick on a Pig... I won't be back, not that it matters. read more

Had Total Knee replacement on 5/15. The Doctors, Nurses and other staff I came in contact with went the extra mile to make my stay comfortable and successful. At times it felt like I was at a first class spa. The food was great. I was able to order what I wanted for each meal and the time wanted. Stay 3 days and all my meals were tasty and served at the right temp. On the last day of my stay, a licensed beautician from the community came to my room and often a beauty salon treatment, at no extra charge! I could go on and on about the quality of care I was provided! To save time let me just say I have no complaints! read more

I've been to this ER three times and each time I had excellent care. The staff were efficient, friendly, professional and they got to the heart of my issues quickly and prescribed medications that cleared up the problems that I was having. I'm from SF but spend time in Willits on occasion and they handled billing my HMO and medicare without any problems at all. The front desk receptionist, the nurses and the Docs I saw on the various occasions were GREAT. The hospital is very clean and comfortable, there was no wait time or lengthy stay in the room waiting for results. Compared to what I'm used to in San Francisco this hospital is Gold Standard all the way. Additionally, the parking is free and i was able to get parking in the first row of spaces near the entrance, which is unheard of where i come from. AND, no one broke into my car while I was being seen as is often the case in SF. WOW! read more

Had to go to the emergency room here for food poisoning. As soon as I walked in before they preformed any tests they offered me a shot of dilaudid, I declined and told them I wasn't into drugs. Then they had me do an MRI for some reason probly so they could reem my insurance. Loaded me up with sodium and potassium fluids which was actually quite nice. As I was leaving they offered me a script for norcos, they must have forgotten I'm not into drugs I declined again. Oh and the nurse did not wear gloves as she was administering the needle to take my blood and get fluids, her nails looked dirty. Pretty disgusting and unprofessional. The doctor was nice. Virtually no wait time for an emergency room. I give this place 1 star because of suggesting unnesisary drugs, the pointless MRI and the philthy nurse who should have worn gloves. read more

street and lot parking...handicapped access...emergency & other with laboratory work such as blood...cell phones work but should be shut off while inside the hospital...fast & efficient...i needed blood work and they have the patience as i was not very patient when this started months ago with the blood work thing...small restaurant with seats for 8 and outside seating, too...bagel with cream cheese for $1.00 and free coffee...we stop here most all the time between my hospital appointments...and, i am getting much better, thanks... read more

Very friendly and professional nurses and staff. I had a colonoscopy in the morning. After resting and before discharge I and my partner had a complimentary lunch that was 5-star for hospital food. This hospital is excellent in all respects. Further, I'm really ashamed of my fellow citizen of Willits who was so ungrateful for the care he/she received for food poisoning as to write a 1-star review. read more
