It was an option to take a driver improvement course and, upon passing, I would receive 5 points to cancel out demerit points. This driving academy has an online course, which I completed, which can be completed in one day (estimated at 8 hours for completion of the online course, although it took me less than 8 hours). The exam at the end must be completed in-person at the Tysons or Herdon location. I went for the exam in-person in the evening at the Tysons (Vienna) location and there was no one else scheduled so I was able to focus and complete the exam efficiently. The staff confirmed that points post within twentyfour hours and I received a printout of my of course passing score. The online course and final exam is $75 to complete and payable at the time of the in-person exam. For those interested, even without a DMV prompt, you can take a driver improvement course every few years and receive the positive points to your license (assuming you pass the exam).

The quality of instructors has a quality mix to it, but most were very good. Also, if you like an instructor, you can try to schedule more lessons with that specific instructor, which was helpful. It can be difficult to find lessons when and where you want, but if you book far enough ahead of time, you can generally find several reasonable options. General communications: Every time we called the company for help, they were very responsive and always friendly. Overall, I would say our experience was very positive, and I would use them again if I need to and would recommend them.

I went on Yelp and found Safe Driving School. The lady was pleasant, so I went ahead and signed her up. That same evening my daughter was driving. The driving instructor was beyond knowledgeable and kind. Unlike the other driving school instructor, he knew where he was going and wasn't constantly looking at his phone. He also spent the entire time with my daughter and gave her some tips that I am even going to use. So many driving schools around here got terrible reviews, and there wasn't much on Yelp about this one, so I'm happy to help others who may be in a similar situation find a fantastic driving school. I grew up in NYC and never learned to drive. It absolutely terrified me. You may consider yourself an anxious person, but I was having nightmares for weeks about driving and would wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat about it. Driving seemed like entering a demolition derby where every man was out for himself, and I wanted no part of it. When I first called Titus, I explained this and told him that I wasn't sure I would even be able to drive on the first lesson, if ever, and that he needed to be prepared for me to spend the first hour just sitting in the parked car trying not to have a panic attack. He was cool with this. All good so far. In fact, I did make it out on the road that first time. He explained that I didn't need to worry about messing up because even if I swerved into oncoming traffic or freaked out and lost control of the car, there was no way we would crash because he would use his break pedal and/or take the wheel and we'd be fine. Titus has the perfect temperament for a driving instructor. His voice so calm and reassuring. Every time I would start the lesson sure that I would be driving both of us to certain doom, but by the end of the lesson I was feeling empowered and confident. Just two months ago, I could not have imagined this day: waking up, driving to the DMV, taking the road test, and then passing with no mistakes.
