The staff was professional from the moment I walked in to the end of the visit. I was promptly greeted with a smile, given easy forms to sign, and seen by Dr. Roshnee Patel within ten minutes. The store is very clean, dust free, and sanitizer is readily available throughout. Dr. Patel was very warm, welcoming and so down to earth. Just from her warm smile greeting, Dr. Patel immediately made me feel comfortable. She took her time with the exam, explaining things as she went. She answered my questions and concerns with care. She eased my mind. She never rushed me through the exam. More importantly, the exam went well and I was confident that I (finally) received an accurate lens prescription. Via lens scan, she confirmed my suspicion that one of the lenses in my existing-old prescription from a different chain wasn't accurate. Her staff helped me select new frames based on what style I liked. Then, I was encouraged to browse on my own without the hovering nor upsell pressure. I found a great pair of frames in a style I hadn't considered before. There are many designer frames here: Versace, Michael Kors, etc. Later, I saw that the frames sold here are current designs and sold very close to retail price. The frames that I chose were just five dollars more than the manufacturer's website. If I could change anything, I would suggest that the thermostat be adjusted as needed. It was an unseasonally warm day, and it was very warm inside the building. Overall, this was my first time ever using Pearl Vision and Dr. Patel and her staff left a great impression. They've restored my faith in physicians and I will make this my permanent place for glasses.

See my prior review for this "doctor" at the Elmhurst location…read more Regretfully, I need to update this review to warn others to beware. You can look at my history of reviews and see that I am not one to give 1-star reviews often. I have to make the exception here, because my wife has been scarred, literally and figuratively. If you look at my prior review, you'll note that we opted to get the "warranty" for touch-ups as necessary. My wife had the smile procedure and after 6 months, her vision has not been satisfactory. Her distance vision is still blurry. So she went to the office in Barrington to see Dr. Kovach. After waiting for 2 hours, the "doctor" was short with her, interrupted her, and condescendingly repeated himself over and over. He first told her that the warranty didn't cover her condition, because it was 20/25 and needed to be 20/40 in order to be utilized. He then said even if he tried, his machine was not refined enough to make such a small adjustment. In fact, in a completely backwards move he literally said it was good she spent an additional $1000 for the eye cleaning prior to the procedure otherwise her vision would be worse! Can you believe it?!? She should be grateful, because it would have been worse? If that wasn't enough, he recommended that she invest in a $70/month eye drop that could potentially improve her vision, but that she probably wouldn't see a result in less than a year! WTF? (Sorry for cursing in initials) so essentially throw more money at the problem without any degree of confidence if it would work or not. Calmly, my wife asked if she could apply the cost of the "warranty" to the cost of the eye drops and he responded shortly and said that the warranty was already paid for and that she had no options. He couldn't even show any empathy or understanding for her feelings. What a joke. Understandably, my wife will not return and we will not be recommending this business to anyone.

Besides being personable yet very professional, Dr. Ostoich and his entire practice is definitely up to date on all of the latest in eye care. And that's more important than one would think. Unlike all of the cheapie eye stores that don't do complete eye exams, Dr. Ostoich looks at EVERYTHING to be sure your eyes are healthy! My visits are usually about 45 minutes long as they're looking at my retinas, testing eye pressure for glaucoma and searching for cataracts. During one of his thorough exams on my girlfriend a few years back, Dr. Ostoich discovered tumors in her eyes and immediately sent her to an oncologist. Disappointing her gynecologist didn't find it first since she had just seen him, and that's where the cancer started. Dr. Ostoich was definitely the Hero in that situation!! If it weren't for his thorough eye exams, God only knows how much further the cancer could have spread before it was detected. An eye exam store in the mall would not have found this! And then there's the usual vision test. About 15 to 20 years ago, Dr. Ostoich switched me from soft contact lenses to, just as comfortable, gas permeable lenses due to the fact that my vision had been changing to the worse so quickly, at the time. I'm happy to report, my vision hasn't changed one bit since!! I'm still amazed that I have the exact same vision that I did so many years ago!! And it's great to see the Doc smile when he realizes the same thing, knowing he's done his job well. In Summary, Dr. Ostoich and his practice might cost more than going to For Eyes or any other cheapie mall store, but when it comes to your vision, I don't want to go cheap and neglect the health of my eyes. You get what you pay for!!

So far, so good. Now, we just have to wait and see…read more.. I came home last night and was greeted by my dad complaining about his Left eye being in pain. He insisted that I find him an opthalmologist and schedule an appointment. Thanks to Yelp's directory, I was able to find Dr. John Marchon in our area. When I called his office at 10a this morning, Maryann answered the phone. She is extremely pleasant and articulate. I told her about my dad. She apologized for the ophthalmologist being out of the office. Maryann assured me she would speak with him and call me back with his recommendation as soon as possible. Within an hour, I was on the phone with her with instructions from Dr. Marchon. My dad went to the ER at St. Alexius Brothers. The ER Physician was able to diagnose and treat the eye injury. My dad is home without needing to make a follow up appointment with the referring ophthalmologist. Everyone in my family and relatives all stereotypically wear glasses, have had Lasik surgery or use contacts. We're getting up there in age for risk of eye disease. St. Alexius Brothers Hospital is in close proximity to most of us. If any of us ever needs to see an ophthalmologist, Maryann is the person I'm going to say to call first.

He is one of the most brilliant minds in the country; it seems almost bizarre that such an expert is practicing in Hoffman Estates. Any intimidation I felt staring at the walls of accolades immediately melted away when I met the doctor himself. He's perfectly down to earth: conversational, funny, full of stories. . . it puts a patient right at ease! Heck, I would like to take the guy out to lunch and listen to him chat for an hour. Unlike almost every other doctor I've ever met, he didn't have one hand on the doorknob and a "please shut up" look in his eye throughout the visit. He seemed to have abundant time and patience. He performed an in-office procedure on my eyelid. He explained every detail thoroughly and executed the little surgery with great skill, an A+ experience in every way.
